I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi i have this annoying problem with flash player that i never used to have back on flash 9 something, Seems any build of flash from 10.1 to 10.3 all keep exiting full screen on there own when watching video.

It happens on 2 computers of mine, both running windows 7 and both home built with similar but different specs, The same is they both have Ati Radeon HD series cards although different generations, they both have amd cpu's one is a phenom II x4 @ 3ghz and the other is a athlon x2 5000x @ 2.6ghz, They are both running 64bit windows 7 ultimate, 1 is on a gigabyte board the athlon and the other is on a biostar board the phenom II, The gigabyte board is actually newer and can support 6core chips my biostar can't and has biggest cpu i can drop in it, the gigabyte pc will be getting upgraded to a 6 core chip most likely when i get the cash,

Anyway it really pisses me off when i'm wanting to watch tv in bed at say justin.tv or another video site and then have to get up out of bed and click the dang full screen button again, This happens in 32bit or 64bit browsers, so / any, If anyone knows of a work around it would be much appreciated,

A buddy of mine said to disable aero but i don't want to do that if that's the cause as it isn't really a solution that works for me as i like my aero / thumbnails and stuff, No other video player's do that on my system accept flash player.

I would also like to note it sometimes go for an hour or so withing exiting full screen and then so... Read more

In November I got Verizon lte installed internet provider to replace Clear. Ever since when I go to watch tv or any videos in full screen mode the voice is all out of sync. I have 2 desktops running windows xp and using sea monkey (mozilla) browsers. One is connected to tv in the living room and the other to a 15" monitor. I have never had a problem before, so I'm not sure if its the lte service or something else. I have spent hours searching for a solution and nothing has worked so far. I have the latest version of flash player and it is the correct plugin for mozilla. Verizon is no help, they sent out a "tech guy" which was nothing more than a independent cable tv installer, He was here about 5 minutes looking at lights on the cantenna and router and saying "everything is working fine" Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Recently, I upgraded from an Nvidia 6800 to an HIS 4670 (1gb 128bit). After reformatting my hard drive and installing the drivers, I noticed that there were lag spikes every now and then. For example, my mouse cursor would be traveling smoothly and then suddenly hit some lag and go slowly. When I right click, my whole computer would lag: if I had music playing, my music would lag as well. Also, my screen blacked out frequently. At first, the screen would dim down. Then the screen would go black (monitor and computer would still be functioning), and I would be forced to either put it on hibernate and turn it back on, or manually restart my computer. If I were to put my computer on hibernate and turn the computer back on, my screen would still sometimes black out (in the same manner as it did before). Also, Windows would take an oddly long time to load up with the 4670. My computer would be stuck on the "Windows is loading settings" screen for ten minutes (or even longer), before going to the "Welcome" screen (plus another five minutes of waiting). After getting tired of the said problems, I switched back to my old 6800. Everything works fine - no lag spikes, Windows boots up smoothly, no black screen, etc. Unfortunately, playing games lags on the Nvidia 6800 but not the Radeon 4670. Could this have been caused by a CPU bottle-neck (I have a Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz processor), an insufficient PSU, or something else?

A:HIS Radeon 4670 causes lag, screen blacks out

My first reaction is you have either a corrutped device driver or the incorrect version. Check with the AMD Radeon and download/install the latest driver. If that doens't work, check that your system has the required specs to use that video card. It could be it's too high end for your system. If it's OK, then we'll look at other troubleshooting steps.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ50 laptop and it has a tendency to black out when I play streamed shows in full screen mode. I have to do an emergency shutdown and reboot it in order to get it working again. It happens on sites like Hulu.com, or anyplace using Adobe Flash Player, and only in full screen mode. I updated the latest version of the flash player but it still continues to black out. How else can I fix this?

Thank you.

I can'y find this answer so I am falling back on the best forum ever...this one.

During Flash playback I will normally watch in "full screen" works great. In the last months more and more videos are playing with the "Press ESC to exit full screen mode" message always displayed. Now it's happening on YouTube. This is the last straw. I can't take it. It does not disappear like it's supposed to.

I have tried the Flash Player settings manager and adjusted every setting to see if this is the problem. No help. I think it may be the hosting site but I don't know. Some YouTube videos work like normal and some don't. This happens on other sites too. Have you had this problem and fixed it? Do you know how to fix it. Please help me out here. I have searched the net and no solutions exist that I can find.

I found an article on "issues" for Flash full screen. They said to update drivers. I updated to 191.07 (latest Nvidia driver) No help.

Tried IE8 and the latest flash plugin (for both IE and Chrome) No help.

Please....this is killing me.

A:Flash player "ESC to exit full screen" stays

I found out on my own how to fix this if anyone has the same problem. It's in the settings manager for flash player (the on line one) and it has to do with the site being able to store stuff on your computer.

I know the question is awkward. So hopefully, I can explain it.

Say that I have a 500 GB external hard drive. But as it turns out, there's only 465 GB according to it and my computer. Why isn't there 500 Gb, but rather only 465? This also applies to mp3 players like iPods.

Why is this?

Can I do something to get back the "hidden" memory?

I am a complete hardware novice, so I don't know what works best with what. I did some research for a graphics card in my budget that would run Zbrush and Blender smoothly. Bought the ATI Radeon 4350 a few days back and both the apps run great, but my Flash CS5, which was running smoothly before this, is now giving me problems.

My current config:

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 245 Processor
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Current Display Mode: 1360 X 768 (32 bit) [the maximum for my screen]
RAM: 4GB [+4GB with an external pen drive, using ReadyBoost]
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I don't know if anything else is required. What could be the problem here? Is there a problem here? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't know enough about all this to make any judgments.

When I play any flash videos in full mode on my second screen, there is empty space on the bottom and top of my screen. This started happening recently and I am not sure what caused it. If I move the video over to my primary screen, I can view the video in full mode with any white borders. I am including 2 images to show the difference. On my primary screen you see that the video takes advantage of my whole screen, while on the secondary screen, there is empty space on top and bottom. This just started happening recently and I am trying to figure out what is causing it. The resolution on my primary screen is 1600 x 900 and on secondary screen is 1440 x 900.

A:Flash full screen leaving empty space on top and bottom of my screen

My first guess without knowing anything else is this is simply the graphic driver/card's way of dealing with the aspect ratio difference between the two monitors. It is possible this only started after a update to the flash player or graphics driver, I don't really see it as anything to be concerned about, and more than likely a great deal more trouble to solve than it's worth.

Well I have Windows 7 32-bit and I am having a problem with black bars on the left and right side of the screen in full screen applications. I tried to fix this myself but it seems like the option in the radeon software is greyed out. So I was wondering if anyone here would happen to know how to get rid of this problem and make it to where the whole screen is filled in fullscreen applications on the laptop screen instead of just a monitor that is hooked up to it.

A:ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 bars in full screen applications.

I see, that you are using an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Graphics card.

There have been widespread reports of ATI 4xxx and 5xxx Graphics card driver problems:

There are 3 big categories of problems:

#1 is people experiencing 2d crashes: to these people, a good fix that seems to be working very well for most is to set your idle clocks higher (most suggest 400MHz for core and 900MHz for memory, but any value between that and 725/1000 should, in theory, be fine.

#2 is people experiencing 3d crashes: to these, it's a little bit more complicated. A lot of people had success by setting the voltage higher, or downclocking the core and memory for more stability. It certainly is a more complicated problem than the 2d crashes.

#3 is people (like me...) getting both. In this case, as far as I know, the only thing you can do is severely downclocking your core and memory in order to get more stability, but still... there are crashes (less often though...)

If anyone can give me info or suggestions for solutions on this it would be greatly appreciated, since none of the manufacturers seem to know.

My Machine:

Pentium 4 2.8GHz Processor
MSI Neo-2 PFS (Platinum) Mobo
Hercules 3D Prophet 9600 XT
512MB Ram
CD-RW drive ( Cant remember the speeds, not that it matters)
17" 16ms BenQ LCD Monitor
Windows XP Professional

The Problem:

I run the graphics on AGP 8x as per the recommended setting.
I have being struggling for sometime now trying to figure out why my machine performed a memory dump or rebooted when even the smallest amount of graphics was used, this ranged from Windows Media Player Visualisations to the graphics is FarCry or UTK4. I had contacted Hercules, MSI, especially ATI and even Microsoft and none have come back with any solutions or suggestions. I then took a chance and disabled the AGP Fast Write, AGP Write and Read, as well as PCI Read and Write via the Control Center. Thus my problem was resolved. BUT, now i cannot view DVD Movies, re-enabling the settings allows me to view the DVD for about 5 Minutes and then it reboots or performs memory dumps. I have tried different combinations but it does not seem to help.

Does anyone have any sort of suggestion or solution for me?

I have been having issues where at first it seemed to be random Blue screen crashes, but now think it only seems to happen if i try to run a game in full screen. Even just uninstalling the AMD drivers causes me to BSOD mid un-installation process.

The blue screen says the file name "Atikmpag.sys". I don't normally game on my computer so i never really noticed this error in the past. There were a few instanced where i would randomly blue screen with the same "Atikmpag.sys" but restart and i was good to go. Only now when my friend has told me to get a couple of games i BSOD at the startup usually when the screen goes black to attempt to full screen. Not just 1 game though, iv tried several all showing the same BSOD message without even getting into the game.

Also just in Steam trying to go to "Big Window" Causes stream to crash with an error of resize buffer failed.

So like i said in the begining was a once in a while crash but now it seems to be something with full screen i think, but im a noob at this so not entirely sure. Iv researched around and tried to follow a lot of the suggestions such as reinstalling and such with no success.

You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

Last week I had to replace a corrupt HDD on my R730 Samsung Laptop's HDD.
After reinstalling windows 7 I installed the drivers for my hardware according to the Samsung website.

Since this happened, 80% of the time when I launch a program that enters full screen mode, i.e. games (and also sometimes when alt+tabbing out of these applications), the display goes solid black and then begins to cycle through solid colours.

The only thing I can imagine would be causing the problem to occur is when opening the programs the screen resolution changes and somehow causes an error due to the drivers.

The graphics card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics.
The video BIOS is 1994.0
Current Graphics mode is 1600 by 900.

I'd really appreciate any useful comments on this problem as it has become quite tedious. If you need any more information please let me know what it is and the best way to obtain it.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I've received awesome help from this board before so I decided to come try my luck once again.
My full system information can be found here.

So the deal is this: I've had this happen twice to me now - on viewing some videos, my computer hangs, the screen gets all grainy and chunks of varying color and texture appear in seemingly random areas of the screen. The PC promptly blue-screens and restarts. This is when the system starts running on minimum resolution and color depth. Even though a start-up notice from windows tells me I can get a better picture if I increase my Display settings, in reality I cannot - if I move the appropriate sliders and hit Apply, it flickers the screen but nothing actually changes.

The first time it happened, I decided my graphics adapter needed its drivers uninstalled. I was relieved to find out that (for the first time in my life) installing drivers worked.

In a few days I had forgotten that it was Megavideo that caused my computer to fail, so I made the mistake of watching something again - everything happened again just as before, I tried re-installing the drivers but this time it didn't help at all (the system started up in a better resolution this time (although not quite as high as the one I regularly use), but when I tried tweaking it up a notch, everything became grainy and disgusting again.)

As I am writing this, everything looks like this:

Am I looking at a fried graphics card? Something else entirely?

I have the same thing happen when using Flash Player or other apps where ok / cancel / apply buttons are covered by the taskbar. I'm hoping someone has a solution to this annoying video problem on my Yoga 900 13ISK2.  Whenever I switch to full screen when streaming a flash video (from MotoGP VideoPass and WSBK VideoPass services) a portion of the right side of the video gets cut off and the remainder becomes centred on the screen with black edges on both sides.  I can get these videos to display correctly in full screen by changing the resolution from the computer's native 3200x1800 to 1920x1080, but this is a nuisance. Additionally, when I connect to my television (native 1920x1080 resolution) through a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter I have the same problem except I cannot get these flash videos to display in full screen correctly regardless of what I set the resolution of this display to. A friend of mine can connect to my television through this adapter and properly display these flash videos in full screen from his Microsoft Surface Pro4. I do not have this problem on the Yoga or the television with other types of video such as YouTube.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I have a Dell computer with Windows 10 operating system. When watching videos, say like on youtube or Netflix the scree will turn black for a few seconds then return to normal. It does not happen every time but it does happen often. When it does happen I can watch it just fine in small screen or whatever its called when you don't make it full screen. The video continues to play so its not loading or anything like that it just flashes black for a few seconds. Sometimes it does it throughout the whole video or just once at the beginning of the video or when I switch it to full screen. Also I don't know if this is related but if I pause the video and then start it back the sound is louder but still set at the same volume. Once I either increase or decrease the sound it will return back to normal level. Also this occurred when I first bought the computer around a year ago, with windows 8 then when windows 10 came out it updated but the problem still occurred.

Thank you

look on the bottom right corner to switch mode: 360p, 480p, 720p or 1080pAlso depends on how good & resolution your video card supports.

I'm running Windows XP, SP 3, Dell PC, Model: Dimension 2400 using Google Chrome. I would provide more info from my minidumps, but they won't show up for some reason when I'm trying to attach them.

A:Bluescreen occurring during full screen flash videos

I suggest running a disk check for starters (either run error-checking and check "Automatically fix file-system errors" or run chkdsk /f /r)

I'm setting up a digital sign/non-interactive kiosk for a elementary school which will show the kids how much power the photovoltaic array is creating. Because the computer/keyboard/mouse will be locked up I don't have as many security issues as an interactive kiosk.

I've added the Adobe Flash software to the system startup folder, but while it starts in full screen mode on bootup, it then drops out of full screen mode. This is a problem because I want to have the computer run completely automatically and turn itself off at 3:30 PM and on at 7 AM with no user intervention.

When I run the flash program by hand it starts and stays in full screen mode, so I think something that runs at startup is becoming a foreground task.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a unix person, new to windows.

Hi spark2000 and welcome to SF
Try the following: right click on that shortcut in the startup folder.
go to properties, in the Shortcut tab set the dropdown field under RUN to MAXIMIZED

Anyone have any suggestion to solving a problem with viewing Flash videos Full Screen that alaways give a Black & Gary Window rather then showing the video? Example of error window attached to posting.

I have already tried some T/S of my own on to figure this out and here's what I have figured out so far.
Does Not Have This Problem When Using IE7
Problem Not Fixed By Updating Flash
Problem Not Fixed By Updating FireFox
Updating Video Drivers Didn't Fix Problem

So this is where I am at now.

Any Ideas?

This applies to any platform:
To disply full screen mode in Flash or YouTube videos you MUST Disable hardware acceleration!!
1.Make sure you are using the latest version of Flash. To check your version and to upgrade, see Adobe's instructions.
2.Navigate to a page that shows a video that you can't view in full screen.
3.Right-clickHold down the Ctrl key while you click on the video player and click Settings... in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
4.Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
5.Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.

I have this issue from Win 8 through my two upgrades to 8.1 and 10.

CPU is extremely high in all browsers (except IE and Edge, didn't test them as don't plan to use them) when:

Download fast (over 2mbps)
Upload fast
Images-heavy sites
Watching TV online

The issue doesn't occur when I download via offline browser, torrent client, download manager or another program.

All my drivers are up-to-date.

Search and Index service is disabled.

Link Scanner in AVG Free is disabled as known to use much CPU during browsing/downloading.

Hello there, this would be my third post, this time I went through and made sure I did everything correctly.

While Defragmenting, it will get to about 15-16% and say it's done. Also when I first started working on this computer, which was about a week ago, it was at 26% free space on a 18.64GB, After some work it then shot up to 55%, now it is sitting at a steady 36%.... Hence the Haywire.

It is Tempting just to Wipe the computer but I am ill equipted to do so.

I've done many virus scans ( the legitimate ones) and none have done much good.

I am unable to download Adobe flash player, i have shockwave and reader 8. everytime i go the the website to download adobe flash player it gets to the menu where the pop-up is supposed to appear, it doesn't show up and there is a small red X in a white boX in it's place.

And i have tried to download the ziped version but it says(Failure to install) everytime i try to unzip it.

so without the Flash player, no video's will work, Youtube is worthless... but i had firefox for a while and the video's worked on there if someone gave me a direct link via Messanger.

Here is the main.txt from the deckard, and the extra.exe does not show up for some reason.

Thank you for your assistance, whomever aids me.

Since I figured out a solution, I figured I'd post it here to share if it already hasn't come up. For some reason, whenever I try to play a music clip with Quicktime, Mozilla blacks out the player bar. I looked on the internet for a solution and saw someone mention running in compatibility mode for XP. I tried this and it worked. The Quicktime player bar is no longer blacked out in Mozilla. Unless there are any other know solutions, then I'll just stick to running Mozilla in compatibility mode. Here's the link where I found the solution.

When streaming with quicktime the play, stop bar is all blacked out

I'm the second anonymous poster confirming the solution.

A:Media player only in full screen mode

Which version of Windows Media Player are you using? If its version 10, or even 9, take a look at this:

3.7 How do I get the Player to play in full-screen mode on my second monitor?

Windows Media Player can only play in full-screen mode on the primary monitor. For more information about changing your primary monitor, see Windows Help.

I've just got a new laptop, using vista, and whenever i play a video in full screen mode (In quicktime or window media player) there are black bars down the left and right sides of the screen, and i cannot for the life of me figure out why this is happening and how to turn them off.

Can anyone help?

A:Full screen media player issue

Your laptop is most likely a widescreen, like a 16:10 ratio. The video, on the other hand, is probably a 4:3 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, WMP doesn't allow you to choose which aspect ratio it uses for video... I don't know about quicktime because I don't have pro and it won't let basic users even get full screen. Vista's media center, however, will allow you to choose aspect ratio - if that helps. You just right click on the screen and go to "zoom". Setting 3 usually gives the best image for stretching 4:3 to fit a 16:10 screen.

I recently reformatted my os because of a virus. Now DVD's won't fill up the screen when I go into the full screen mode. There is a bar at the top and bottom of the screen. It also does it when streaming video from the internet in full screen mode.

A:Windows media player 11 not full screen

Go to Start/run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager, all devices with a yellow mark need to have drivers installed. If your Display adapter has a yellow mark, then go to your computer manufactures Support/Download Drivers site type in your make and model # and download the drivers you need. Then try either increasing or decreasing the Resolution to see if that helps.
If that fails, try VLC player.
