T and L series - upgradable graphics?

Q: T and L series - upgradable graphics?

Hello everyone! So i am buying a new laptop and i am mostly interested in L series (L-570).One downside is that they all have integrated grpahics and i'm afraid i wont be able to play some new games in future. (Gaming is not my priority but still i like to occasionaly play some games.) I've heard that the new HD620 is alot better than old HD520 and that i wont have any problem playing games in present but in future i'm afraid i'll run in some problems gaming-wise. So i was wondering is it possible to upgrade integrated graphics (in any of T or L series and L-570 in particular.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,
this is pretty much my first time to post on any forum so dont expect it to be a perfect post.
The story is, i aquired a dell vostro 1500, and the only graphics device in it is Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family...
I was just wondering, since id like to be able to play games above 40 fps on lowest graphics, is it possible to put anything dedicated into it? and how easy/costly/etc is it?

cheers in advance.

VGA components on laptop are almost never upgradeable I'm afraid. There's very little you can other than lowering the games' resolutions & visual effects.

I have an older video card with AMD HD4670 Radeon Graphics. My Windows 7 system has dual 1080P displays. In windows 7 it was necessary to use the ?Scaling? option found in the AMD Catalyst Control Center (CCC) to properly size the image on the HDMI display(picture attached). If I update to Windows 10, the CCC and the old driver will be removed by Windows 10 and a new Windows 10 driver will be installed but with no CCC. I would like to take advantage of the free Windows 10 upgrade but I?m not sure if the Windows 10 driver will include this Scaling Option. The Windows 10 driver does not use CCC where scaling was found in Windows 7. The driver is dated Jan 2015 and is version 8.970.100.9001. It looks like AMD provided the driver specifically to support HD 4000 series cards on Windows 10. While AMD provided the driver, my understanding is that it is only available thru Windows Update and is the only driver for AMD HD4000 series Graphics with Windows 10 support. Information about the driver is found here: https://community.amd.com/docs/DOC-1313 (scroll down to where it first mentions HD 4000, 3000 and 2000 Series Graphics).

Hi: I only see 6, but that is neither here nor there... Please post the hardware ID for the Standard VGA Adapter so I can figure out what model graphics adapter your PC has. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click to expand the Display adapters device manager category. Then click on the Standard VGA Adapter listed there. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

I have written a few tutorials about graphics cards that I believe will be beneficial to this section of the forums.

The first tutorial is simply how to remove your old graphics card and install a new one. The actual process is extremely simple (for me, the longest part is getting my case out and back), and thus the tutorial is relatively short. However, if you have never changed a graphics card (or other component) then this is a must read.

The secondtutorial is a simple explanation of how to overclock your graphics card. Anyone that looks at the tutorial will see that it is not a short tutorial, because overclocking is a dangerous and risky process, that must be done correctly.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 580, not very old...everything about it is okay, except the integrated graphics card. Someone recently gave me a GeForce 6600 card, and my GF bought me GW2 in anticipation.

I've got it installed, it seems to be properly seated on the motherboard, and it's connected to the power supply(had to get an adapter to make that work, it's got a 4-pin molex connector and all mine are 15-pin SATA's), but my computer doesn't seem to want to recognize it.

I've been to the GeForce site to try and download drivers, but it says it can't detect any hardware. Likewise, when I'm under Device Manager and I scan for hardware changes, nothing comes up under Display Adapters, it's still just the "Intel(R) HD Graphics" all by its lonesome.

I'm at the end of my rope here. Just lost my job, don't really have the disposable income to take it in to get looked at or get a different card or anything, I REALLY need this to work. I'd be eternally grateful for any assistance.

I?m having a problem with graphics on my laptop. Whenever I switch to full screen, either watching a movie or playing a game, the screen starts flashing and jerking. The end result is the movie or game goes back to the minimized size and I get an error message. The message states that my display driver failed and was restored. I?ve also noticed the icons in the upper right corner (minimize, restore, close) stop functioning.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A135-52276. The operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate-Service Pack 1-32 bit. The graphics information shows ATI Radeon Xpress Series (0x5A62). The Total Available Grphics Memory: 831 MB. The current driver is from ATI Technologies, driver date 12-01-08, Version 8.561.0.0. Resolution is 1280 x 800.
I?ve tried Windows Update to check for updated drivers-tells me what I have is the best choice. I?m hoping you could help me-it?s really frustrating. Thank you.

Welcome to Seven Forums Snoopster03.
Windows update is often behind with drivers. How old is the laptop? The ATI designation indicates 3-4 years? You can go the Toshiba support site and see if they have a newer driver available for your model. Most laptops have specially created drivers which should be used for best performance.

Hi everyone.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R-SE 7520 Laptop which has the AMD Radeon HD7700M GPU.

I'm currently playing Grand Theft Auto 5 and trying to tweak the graphics.
The first question I have is regarding the anti-aliasing.

Within the game settings for the graphics I have the options of using FXAA, MSAA and Reflection MSAA.

Can I enable all of these options together or is it only advisable to use on or the other? If so which one? I suppose what I'm trying to ask is.... Is one option a global setting which overrides the other?
The second question I have is regarding the overall settings.

If anybody here has the same GPU as I have and plays GTA 5, which settings give you the best visuals whilst keeping the game running smoothly?
I would be very grateful for your experienced input.

Many thanks in advance.

Hey there, I've been currently looking into upgrading my graphics card from my Radeon Sapphire HD 6700 (1gb GDDR5) model, to a MSI GTX 970 (4gb GDDR5) model. My question is whether the card will actually fit into the case. Mainly, whether I'll be able to install it.With my current card, I have to slot it in at a diagnal before I'm able to actually fit it, past the HDD Mounting bracket, into the PCI-E slot. It fits at least though. The dimensions are as follows... Radeon: 19.7 x 17.7 x 4.2 cm GTX: 26.9 x 14.1 x 3.5 cm  My computer model is: HP Pavilion p6 Series - p6-2480ea ----------------------------- I'm aware of the PSU restirctions. I have already upgraded to a 750w power supply. But my main concern is whether I'd be able to fit it past that HDD bracket (which goes the full height of the pc). I've also taken note of the PCI - 2.0 restriction of my board, but that's not a massive issue for me at this moment.  ----------------------------- This morning has consisted of scouring the internet for this question with minimal success, so I thought it better just to ask for a more direct result. Thanks in advance! Mr.Baker

Frankly, you don't really want to upgrade this machine. It has a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz processor, a non-upgradeable proprietary power supply, and only an AGP slot for a graphics card, and even then it only accepts a low profile card. Just about the cheapest PC you can buy right now will outperform this machine several times over.

I've been looking into purchasing a new Nvidia GPU that supports DX11.

I have an EVGA motherboard, however, the GPU does not have to be from that subsidiary company. I was looking between the 460 and the 470, and couldnt decide whether or not the extra hundred bucks for the 470 would be worth it or not. I will not be using 3D vision, so count that out.

I didn't want to get the 480 since thats around 500 bucks.

What are your opinions? I will be playing games such as Crysis 2 when that comes out, Battlefield BC2, Medal of Honor, Dirt 2, Metro 2033, Mafia II, etc.

My system specs are as follows:
EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR Intel chipset motherboard
Intel i7-860 Quad CPU @ 2.8ghz
OCZ Gold 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333mz PC3 10666 (OCZ3G1333LV4G63581470)
as of now i have the EVGA nvidia ge-force 9800 gtx GPU
and my PSU is an LSP Ultra 750w ATX.

Second: Try using Vista drivers until new drivers for your card are available.

Third: Windows 7 may already have generic drivers for your graphics card.

Hello everyone, and thank you for checking this thread in an attempt to help me! I'm not good with computers, so any instructions/directions you give me need to have every step carefully spelled out for me, or I'm likely going to run into some problems with my own stupidity! Now with that out of the way, I will explain the situation the best I can.

Lets start with my computer specs

The game we'll use as an example is Overwatch, but other games do not run as well as they should either, so it isn't exclusive to Overwatch.

This is what I should be running Overwatch at with my graphics card. I instead have a very bad stutter in game. I have had to put everything on its lowest possible settings to get 60fps, which drops to below 40 when fighting is happening, and regularly stutters to the point where I'm watching a slideshow presentation.

The CPU is running at 100% while playing Overwatch, with Overwatch taking up 35-50% of it.

I have made sure the computer is utilizing both cores.

My friend has troubleshooted with me in the past, but he is stumped. Here is what we tried.

I'm asuming you have Cats 5.12.
Does the card have a heatsink and a fan? If it does, is the fan working correctly?

If it is, then you've got a bugged GPU, see if you can get it replaced.

I recently installed Windows 8.1 and it turned out that I could'nt find suitable drivers for the graphics card of my laptop which is GMA 4500, part of Mobile Intel Series 4. After a bit of reading, I found out that many others are also on the same ship as me.

Previously I tried the drivers from Intel Download Center and the modified drivers from eightforums but both of them gave me an error which read something like 'an error occurred while registering one or more components'.

Now that I have the right drivers, or at least right for my laptop, I am sharing them with others here.

I have successfully tested a software that requires OpenGL2.0 with these drivers and it works great!

You most probably don't need a custom certificate installer! I did'nt need one. These drivers are digitally signed.

Drivers and driver updates for OEM computers (particularly laptops) should come from the OEM. The issue is that the OEM may have customized versions of the hardware that is not compatible with Intel supplied software. I suspect that is the problem here. Intel has published warnings about this.

I have just very recently as today started using a new PC with Windows 7, Dell Optiplex 745/755, 8gb, 160gb hdd. Dual monitors is important to me so i got a ATI Radeon card which fitted in and works. My problem being is that on my other PC, Optiplex 520 running XP, i had a Nvidia Quadro 280 PCI card which worked along with the on board graphics which i had my 42in TV connected to for streaming sports, films and such. I would really like that set up again on this machine, is this possible with changing some settings ?? On the old PC i just inserted, configured and started using the 3 monitors. In fact i had 4 running at one point but 2 were of the same display. There is also an svideo connection on the ATI Radeon card, could that be used as a third monitor ? I am not a gamer as such, i use poker sites, watch sports for gambling, so its all quite basic in terms what i need for power. Any help here is great appreciated, thanks.

Does the second monitor show any picture at all? Your PC supports two monitors with a Radeon card. have you installed the Radeon drivers from Dell? You have to go into the Control Center program for the graphics card to enable dual monitors, assuming you get a picture on the second one.

So have been having some real problems upgrading my graphics card lately this is my current spec:  Windows 10 Pro 64-bitCPU Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz 33 °C Sandy Bridge 32nm TechnologyRAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (8-8-8-22)Motherboard Foxconn 2ABF (CPU 1) 28 °CGraphics Philips 190S ([email protected]) 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 (ASUStek Computer Inc) 32 °CStorage 232GB Western Digital WDC WD2500AAJS-00L7A0 (SATA) 33 °C 298GB Hitachi HCP725032GLA380 (SATA) 32 °C 931GB Western Digital WDC WD1003FZEX-00MK2A0 (SATA) 34 °COptical Drives hp CDDVDW TS-H653T MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM0000Audio NVIDIA High Definition Audio I cant afford much so I went for a Gigabyte Nvidia 730 2G DDR3.  Tried two different cards but still not booting from hp blue start up screen, so returned them thinking they were faulty; however, looking further in forums, said some HP computers may not be able to upgrade graphics cards much past onboard spec can anyone help and tell me what I could run? I love this PC and will be gutted if i have to replace it just to be able to upgrade graphics

A:list of compatible graphics cards for HP Pro 3300 Series MT

Hi: Below is the link to the quickspecs for your PC. The list of supported video cards can be found on page 4. http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04288441.pdf Nowadays, another factor when choosing a video card is the age/version of the BIOS in your PC vs the model of the video card. It's no longer a simple comparison of the power supply draw and PCI express version. Choosing the newest ones out on the market today will probably not work in a PC more than a year or two old.

Hey so I have a Sony VAIO S Series Laptop Model (VPCSB11FX) on Windows 7 and I have a graphics driver issue. My laptop comes with switchable graphics (Integrated Intel 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 7400m) and I want to use the AMD graphics card. So I disabled my integrated intel and switched it over to the AMD one in the driver manager, however it says that theres is no driver even though in the manager it says my drivers are up to date. This makes it very confusing for me.

Hello, basically every time my I open a game or something else that overheats my CPU it takes the graphics chip with it. So whenever I boot my laptop the boot screen goes from black to white from the outside so I have to hold down the power button and wait for it to cool down. Could this be a corrupt chip or a overheating problem or some thing else? Any suggestions would be useful!

A:Destroyed/Corrupt ATI Readon 4200 Series graphics card

What temps are you experiencing? It sure sounds like an overheating issue. Have you blown out all the vents and ports on the laptop? Dust, lent and just about any other microscopic pariticle will cling to the fins of the fan and create weight on the fan which slows it down which in turn could cause the fan to stop spinning all together. It's very important to keep the exhaust vent and intake vents blown out and on a regular basis...every two weeks should be sufficent.

Hi, I need help with a Graphics issue. My laptop renders my external Monitors slightly out of focus or fuzzy. I thought it was the Monitor but when I hook up my much older PC (running XP) the Screen quality is fine! I got a different monitor hooked up to it now. The screen is still fuzzy. I noticed a few other weird issues. -When I hook up the Flat Screen exterior Monitor to my laptop both Monitors stay on. When I hook up my Laptop to my old heavy Tube monitor the Laptop monitor automatically turns off. -When I go into Personalize/Display Setting it has 2 monitors showing. The Exterior is #1 & the Lap is #2. The max setting for Monitor #1 is 1924 X 768. #2 has a ton of choices. maxing out at: 1920 X 1080.My Computer friend said I probably do not have the right &/or updated ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series Graphics drivers. I went to ATI website & they didn?t have drivers listed for that series. It?s probably too old (2006). I was able to download ATI Catalysis:8-11_vista#32_dd_70229.exevista#32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu 70229.exeI installed both & rebooted & nothing changed. I?m not sure if I did something wrong during the install. I even went into the Display setting/Advanced/ Monitor/Properties/Drivers & had the system directed to : 8-11_vista#32_dd_70229.exeI thought there would be some prompts to help me optimize the display. Nothing happened. So I guess what I?m asking is:-What Graphic drivers do I need to be up-to-date?-Where can I find them? (since I ha... Read more

This keeps coming up when I use the Intel(R) Driver Update Utility 2.5

"A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer.
The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver
instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues.
Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer."

Should I change from "Customized computer manufacturer driver" to the latest one from here (a "generic Intel driver) - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

I bought this laptop years ago, but hated MS Vista, so put it aside and bought a Mac.  Now I want to download Microsoft Visual Studio Community, so figured I would try to put this PC to use, but it cannot be run without upgrading to a more recent OS.My machine has plenty of RAM, hard drive space, and a fast enough processor, but from what I can tell, the problem seems to be the graphics card.  Can anyone explain whether this graphics card would support an upgrade to any of the more recent Microsoft OS's?  If not, is it possible to determine whether the graphics card could be upgraded without taking apart the PC? Thank you!

Hello, i bought my computer iwth the intertions of it just being a personal computer for surfing the web but i recently have started doing alot of important work off of it and wanted to know if anyone can tell me is  my ram upgradable on this model?

A:Is my Ram Upgradable?

@Makaelawaffle The following link shows specs of your computer:    https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-17-f000-notebook-pc-series/6936220/model/7124138/do... It currently has 4GB on 1 slot, you can upgrade to 8GB by adding another 4GB (SAME RAM) stick to the second slot. But your machine runs Windows 10 (32 bit), Windows 32 bit can't address above 4GB therefore no point to upgrade RAM. Regards.

No sorry. On consumer laptops the video is all integrated into the system (mother) board and they only way to change it is to change that whole board, which is very costly since it also has the processor on it not to mention the extensive labor charge, and loss of warranty.

So I wanted to upgrade my laptop hp 15-ah150sa cpu. Right now it has stock AMD A10-8700P but it's rather bad I wanted to upgrade to something like AMD A10-7850k or Intel i5 -6600k(note sure if they have the right socket...) On Cpu-z my socket type is FP4...is there a difference between that and FM sockets? Like AMD A10-Series APU A10-7850K says it has FP4 socket but on amazon it says it has FM2+ socketI was wondering if even it is possible for my model. As I was going trough posts I understand it's quite a mess when it comes to upgrading laptops and sometimes it's not even worth the money.

After gratuated from highschool, my father gave me his laptop to study. It's a HP Pavillion dv7-2270us.The system is still running smoothly after years thanks to HP quality . And I really want to keep it.Unfortunately, it is not enough RAM, CPU speed, display memory and storage for my to work. I have to deal with some heavy software such as Cartia, Solidworks, Matlab, etc. . Thus, I want to upgrade it to keep up with the current technology: SSD, Ram, etc.Could you suggest what can I do to increase the speed of it. What type of SSD which is suitable should I buy? What kind of CPU which the BIOS can support? Last but not least, I live in HoChiMinh City in Vietnam. Can I contact to HP support agency in here to do the upgrade or contact to the third company? I'm looking forward to getting the reply from the forum.Thank you to read my question!!

Hi guys i'm looking to upgrade my current computer, an ibm pc 350 intel p1 133mhz to something a little faster to tied me over until the summer which is when I will get my kick a** system. I want to upgrade the ram from 64mb to an additional 64 or 128mb. I need to find out what kind I have though. I believe it's sdram 100mhz but seeing how it's an old system from 1996 it may be edo ram. I went to a few sites where you can select your computer's name and model number and it will tell you what memory you have in it, but I also see that my "ibm pc 350" is never listed. They have tons of other pc 330's and such but no 350. So when I open the machine up tomorrow how will I be able to tell what what type of ram I have?

Also do you guys think it will be possible to upgrade my p1 chip to a p2 chip without changing the motherboard? What are the chances that the motherboard i have the p1 chip will support a p2 chip?

Lastly, I'll be putting in a sony 24x cdrw drive. It says it's recommened for a p2, but do any of you out there think it will run on a p1 anyway? This is one of the reasons I'm looking to upgrade the system.

I'd rather not buy a bare bones systems or anything more expensive than the parts I need now because like I said above i'll be getting my dream system this summer.

WHat do you guys think?
I really appreciate your advice or tips in advance.
thanks a lot,
Norris McDowell
