Network Issues & Device Manager Issues in Vista SP1

Q: Network Issues & Device Manager Issues in Vista SP1

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305, running Vista SP1, that locks up and freezes at random time intervals from the time the computer connects to the internet.

I have run multiple virus scans using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, in both Normal and Safe modes that have determined that the system is indeed clean of malware.

I believe the Network Adapters are the cause for the system freezing based on information found after running ipconfig /all. There are multiple Adapters that, based on internet searches, have something to do with the iP6 protocol.

Also, it is worth noting that there is an issue with the Device Manager. The Device Manager will not allow me to view Properties on any of the installed devices.
Subsequently, I can't uninstall the network devices for Windows to re-install to 'reset' the network settings.

* sigh*

Any help anyone would have would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Okay I recently installed a new video card. When I installed it I had to move a USB PCI card to the bottom PCI slot. I reformatted the hard drive and reintalled windows. When I look in device manager there is a yellow exclamation point next to SCSI and RAID Controllers----Nvidia NForce(tm) ATA RAID Class Device. Under the properties it says that the location is unknown and "the device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers for this device." The driver version is 5.10.2600.446. I have never had any exclamation points in my device manager before. Any ideas of how to get rid of this thing????

If you are not running a RAID array, disable RAID in the BIOS and it should disappear from the Device Manager.

Al of the sudden I have USB problems. My Device Manager shows 4 exclamation marks under Universal Serial Bus controllers. I tried uninstalling then rebooting. Upon reboot, I get:

" An error occurred during the installation of this device:
The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request"

What does this mean? What could have changed overnight ?

I just bought a Logitech webcam and when I installed it and tried to use it, it kept telling me that it was in use by another program. I logged onto my Yahoo messenger to see if it would work there and it did, briefly, then I got a white screen. It worked with my Windows scanner and camera wizard too, but it will not come up when I open the Logitech control panel for it. I went into the troubleshooting section of the help menu and it had me go into my device manager to see if there were other imaging devices installed. There weren't any that I could find but I did see that 6 of the devices under my sound, video and game controllers had a yellow exclamation point error next to them. Here are the devices showing errors and it is all the same error.

Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo Canceller
Microsoft Kernel DRM Audio Descrambler
Microsoft Kernel GS Wavetable Synthesizer
Microsoft Streaming Clock Proxy
Microsoft Streaming Quality Manager Proxy
Microsoft Streaming Service Proxy

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

It reccomends that I uninstall them and reinstall them but I am not sure where to find the programs because I do not have any of the discs or anything that these may have come on. I bought the PC as is.

Can anyone help me with this? I would really love to get this stupid webcam working and fix these errors.

Hi arianaetain, and welcome to TSF.

First of all, maybe you should visit Windows update. Click >>> all programs >>> Windows Update. Download and install all high priority updates, then you will probably have to restart your computer.

Go back to device manager and see if the yellow question marks are still there. If they are, go back to Windows update and after it has checked to see if any updates are available for your machine, look in the pane on the left, you should see something like "software updates, (optional)", select them and click review and install updates. You will very likely find the driver updates you require there.

Please post back and let me know if this solved your problem.

Hi There,

so I'm currently Experiencing 2 issues. I dont know if they are related or not so I'm posting in the same thread.

1. When I Open Device Manager It's much slower than it should be. WHile its loading the hardware list It will stop responding ( you can see " not responding" in the window bar. After 30 seconds- 1 minute it responds again and the list of device/hardware shows up. There are no Yellow exclamation points showing up in the list. If I try to do a "Scan for hardware change" or if the list tries to Refresh The Device manager will completely Crash. and I get a window pop up that says " Microsfot Management Console has stopped working" No error code Nothing. Just a button that says Close program.

2. The other issue is Recently my external Buffalo Drive ( HD-GDU3) usb 3 Stops working after a certain amount of time. It just disconnects but you dont hear the Disconnecting sound. I don't notice it disconnects until it Freezes my computer. The only way to unfreeze the computer is to Unplug the drive IF I plug it back in It works Again for a short amount of time. WHen it Stops working Its still up in device manager and There is a Drive letter for it. If i click the drive letter nothing happens. Again I have to unplug it and replug it and it will work for a shot amount of time until it Disconnects/stops working again.

The drive Itself works Fine. i've tested it on several other computers ( both mac ... Read more

What I would do to isolate the problems you have:
Make sure the 2 SSD's are having the updated firmware.Disconnect all Hard disks except the one to boot Windows from. Also make sure that all cables in your PC are tightly connected.Open the Device Manager to see if you experience the same problem.

Please report back. Good luck.

Hi folks,

After some irritating BSODs and a long process of trial and error that followed, I managed to track down the cause: the Device Install Service (C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k DcomLaunch) in Windows or something related to it.

As I understand it, this service manages PnP for the USB drives etc. Every time it is triggered (even if triggered manually via command prompt or through the Services app), I get a BSOD.

Some notes:

1) All USB devices removed except for mouse and keyboard. Problem still occurs.

2) Did a system restore to a point before problems started appearing. Problem still occurs.

3) Leaving the mouse and keyboard in the same USB ports does not trigger the error (Windows seems to remember the mapping before I had problems). Changing the physical USB port for either device or trying to boot with either device in any other port than the port it is currently in will trigger the BSOD. Sometimes the "New Device Found" window will appear on boot before this happens.

4) Plugging in any new USB device will trigger the failure.

5) BSOD happens anytime between 5-30 seconds after the service is triggered.

6) The presence of Driver Verifier running does not alter the dump results. Looks like software rather than hardware.

Can anyone help me in attempting to repair this without doing a reinstallation?

The WinDbg output for the crash dump is given below.

Hello Deadlock123 and welcome to SF .

This error occurs when a user-mode subsystem, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), has been fatally compromised and security can no longer be guaranteed. In response, the operating system switches to kernel mode. Microsoft Windows cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, this is one of the few cases where the failure of a user-mode service can shut down the system. Mismatched system files can also cause this error. This can occur if you have restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs might skip restoring system files that they determine are in use.

Resolving the Problem:Running the kernel debugger is not useful in this situation because the actual error occurred in a user-mode process.
Resolving an error in a user-mode device driver, system service, or third-party application: Because bug check 0xC000021A occurs in a user-mode process, the most common culprits are third-party applications. If the error occurred after the installation of a new or updated device driver, system service, or third-party application, the new software should be removed or disabled. Contact the manufacturer of the software about a possible update.
If the error occurs during system startup, restart your computer, and press F8 at the character-based menu that displays the operating system choices. At the resulting Windows Advanced Options menu, choose the Last Known Goo... Read more

The easiest fix for your problem is to call HP parts, give them the exact model and serial number of your machine and order a set of recovery discs. A set of recovery discs will bring the machine back to original configuration.

So I can connect to the network with no issues....but the rest of my computers are all either XP or Vista 32. My problem comes into my server...that is XP. I have my files and printer on this server, and I connect off of it thru the wireless network. I cant see my printer or the files on the server. The only other computer that shows in my network, besides the lynksys, is the other Vista computer in the office.....which currently does show the server and printer.

My old laptop crashed and I just got a new Toshiba, so this is how/why I have an issue. I checked and its setup as private, Im thinking the 64bit is my problem can anyone hopefully NOT confirm this. Im hoping there is something else that I am missing and its not the 64 bit...

Thanks guys, I hope to not be here too long as that means issues, but I will be watching the forums from a distance to chime in if I can add anything

In short, a windows vista laptop doesn't want to log onto windows 2000 server.

I have a windows 2000 server that has a number of other networked computers able connect happily, and a new vista computer that is having issues.

The server has a workgroup, no domain. Networking with the other computers is via TCP/IP and SPX protocals (for whatever reason, the gremlins in one program don't speak TCPanese). All computers have the same user/password combo (ahem, in reality, 2-4, but one common to all computers for all staff members).

When I browse the local network, the vista computer shows all computers on the network (including XP and 2k home, without the ldds(?) update mentioned elsewhere, and can view printers and the random shared folder on every other computer, running win 2k, xp. When the vista computer tries to browse the server's shared folders (which are really the only ones that count), it asks for a login box. When I try to login (with various username/password combos that reside on the server), I get an error message, 'unable to login, make sure your username and password' are correct, and the login box shows again, with the username changed to computername\username.

Zonealarm and norton antivirus are happy on the server, and allow the IP address of the vista; firewalls and antivirus are turned off on vista; both computers can ping each other, the vista is happy to browse the internet (the server can't, it's set to not go online to... Read more

I thought this problem could go into Vista and not networking as I never had this problem when using XP.

I am using a Toshiba laptop, connected to a Belkin router wirelessly. Also connected to the router but wired is a PS3, but I think this has no relevance to the problem as it occurs even when the PS3 is off.

To start from the beginning, I recently (about 4 months ago), bought a new laptop with Vista, the first time I had used this OS. Connected it to my existing wireless network with no issues at all.

However recently (maybe the last 2 months), I have had major issues with the laptop losing connection with the router. It can detect that there is a network here, but cannot connect to it. If I try and connect to the network (connect to a netowrk>my network>connect, it tries to connect for ages then brings back an error stating that it cannot connect, and if I want to diagnose the problem. If I click yes to diagnose, it tells me that the network security key is incorrect, and gives me options to connect to another network or to view the settings for my network to retype the key.

I have never changed the network key, so know that it is not that causing the problem, if I leave the laptop alone for a while, it will sometimes connect again within 30 seconds or it takes a restart to get it to connect again.

This is such a frustrating problem, the network normally drops in the middle of either loading a webpage or streaming a video etc, not when it is ... Read more

Alright, i recently upgraded from Xp to Vista.

Ever since I've installed Vista, my DVD Drive, and onboard network adapter fails to show up in both My Computer and in Device Manager. A few times they have reappeared on reboot, to just dissapear again a few minutes to half an hour later. It sometimes seems as soon as I try and access the DVD-Drive it loses connection with the DVD Drive and the network. I had no such problems in XP.

List of my components are

Windows Vista 64-bit
Intel Quad-Core Q6600 2.4 Gigahertz
Asus P5K-SE motherboard
Palit Geforce 8600GT Graphics card
2x1-gig Corsair 667mhz
2x1-gig Corsair 800mhz
120gig SATA Western Digital Drive (operating system drive)
320gig SATA Western Digital Drive (storage drive)
600-watt Thermaltake Tough Power PSU
LG DVD combo drive

If i need more info on system just tell me.

If anyone could help me fix this problem, i'd be much obliged, and feel free to ask for more information. I've checked for hardware incompatibility issues and found none.

On further investigation sometimes the DVD Drive does not appear in BIOS.

A:Network + DVD Issues with Vista

I check my event view logger and find that my LG HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H10N drive has a plug and play error.

The error says...

"The device 'HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N ATA Device' (IDE\CdRomHL-DT-ST_DVDRAM_GSA-H10N________________JL10____\6&136aa46b&0&0.1.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal."

I hope this will give more clues, ill also post in cd drives.

My network onboard still doesn't appear but neither does it show any errors so im wondering if it would be a dragon in Vista because the DVD Drive doesnt work. The hard drive is also being constantly accessed on idle everytime the Drive disappears.

I have dell I6400 with vista basic. I also am a computer tech, but don't have enough vista training to figure out this problem. I use my machine just for the MS streets and trips with GPS, since I drive around all day fixing computers. If I have the wireless turned on during the day, it will pick up a wireless network. But, it won't release it when I hit refresh. When I get home, the only way to see my wireless home network is to reboot the machine. I am not currently using any security until I fix this issue, just to eliminate that as an issue. Also, clicking refresh does nothing. Is there a setting that locks in the first available wireless network that vista finds, and won't release it until reboot? Thanks.

A:wireless network issues with vista

You could try

open the command promt and type

netsh wlan disconnect 1 (substitute 1 for the name of the wireless network you cant diconnect from)

Or type at the command promt

netsh wlan connect 2 (substitute 2 for the name of your home wireless lan)

If it works this way you could make a batch file that would save you having to type this every time you get home. Simply create a new text document rename it to something like conenctathome.bat (make sure the extension is changing to .bat from .txt)

Add this line to the text document

netsh wlan connect 2 (again substitute the 2 for the name of your wirless lan)

Save the file and double click it to execute the connect command when ya get home.

This is just a work around though and may or may not work.
There are plenty of other netsh wlan commands that might do the trick for you.

At a command prompt type netsh wlan ?

This will give you a list of commands that can be executed.

Try a few out, I'm not familiar with all of them unfortuantely. could be something to do with you rprofiles though likely its a driver issue, possibly ACPI.

Ok so I have been struggling with this for several days now. I have a htpc in my living room running vista home premium 32 bit. An external harddrive stores all of my media that want to be able to access from anywhere in the house. My wife's notebook has vista home premium 32bit and can access the shared folders on my htpc just fine, streaming media with no problems. My roommates machines are xp and also have no probs either. My brand new notebook runs vista home premium 64bit and whenever i try to access the shares i get the following error:

\\htpc is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource (which according to the security tab i do). Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

From the htpc, i can access the shared folders on my new notebook with no issues; odd right? Security and sharing perms are set corrctly with everyone on modify. The problem must lie on my new notebook as it is the only one having trouble accessing the htpc's shared drives, yet all other pcs in the house can access my new notebook's drives as well as the htpc's drives. All pcs are on the same workgroup too. I have tried disabling the firewall on both the htpc and my new notebook to no avail the same error. PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! Thanks in advance everyone.

I have set all the relevant Folders for sharing on both computers & I have not used or setup the "Homegroup" option on the Win 7 computer.

The full map displays on both machine's "Network & Sharing Center" (Picture attached)

I am fairly new to wireless networking. > Thanks

I have two annoying issues with my new ThinkPad X1 Tablet (Model: 20JB001DGE, running Windows 10 Pro, Build: 1709; 16299.371): When trying to create a new folder on a network share on my Synology NAS I get the error message:If I click 'Try Again' the message remains. When 'Cancel' is clicked I got the new folder with the default name 'New Folder'.Sometimes this also happens when renaming a folder or file.The only way to get rid of it, is restarting the tablet.I have already been in contact with the Synology Support. They checked the NAS, which seems to be okay. This can be confirmed by using another Windows tablet with the same Win 10 build, which can access the NAS shares and create folder without any issues.I also contacted the Microsoft Support.They adviced me to disable all non-Windows services and all auto start items.I uninstalled my Antivirus and Firewall-Tool Avast Premier, using Windows Defender only now.We also tried out different SMB configurations. (activating SMB v1 only on both NAS an PC vs. SMB v2/3, which is the recommended and more secure configuration.)Nothing of this helped so far.The tablet is connected to the DVI port of a monitor via the USB 3 Ultra Dock.Every once in a while some items are displayed larger than normal or seem blurred, for example when opening windows explorer.This screenshot should illustrate the difference. Hi Vista forums;
First post here...yay

I bought 2 new HP desktops 3 weeks ago and ever since I have not been able to fix my networking issues, and so this morning I finally called HP and guess what, they charge for Network help. So shocking the fact that 3-4 years ago I could still get network help for free under my brand new 1-year warranty but anyway I thought I'd try posting my problem.

Here is the dilemma:

Vista HP Desktop #1

Vista HP Desktop #2

XP Desktop

2 XP Laptops

All computers above cannot access files of the 2 new Vista PC's. Everyone can see the computers show up on the network and can enter (I disabled all the password junk) and see the shared files and printers, but when it comes to actually going into them the errors I get are:

From the XP's: Is not accessible;, you must contact administrator, you don't have permissions etc..

From the Vista's: Check spelling of name or check administrator for permissions etc

Also, on one of the Vista, I have shared a printer and the XPs can see and add it as network printer, but not the 2nd Vista...

I have Not disabled the Windows Firewall and I do have Norton on every computer and have checked all the settings in Norton as best as I could..

Your help and advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

Just redid my machine w/ vista ultimate. This was on here before, just redoing machine. So, I could connect to Internet w/ this machine and wirelessly w/ laptops after installation. Today started doing windows updates. Didn't pay much attention because tower was able to connect during these updates. Just turned on laptop and the wireless network is not listed - cannot connect to web. Looked at tower and I can get on the web but it doesn't show my network device.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've tried diagnosing but it found no issues. Tried updating nic drivers but it said I had the most recent. Do you think I need to install some linksys software for my wireless router? What changed? What should I look at, I'm stumped.

Here's my setup...

Laptop with WinXP
Laptop with Vista
Laptop with Win7 Starter
Desktop with Win7 Premium

I have the workgroup named: WORKGROUP set up on ALL computers.
I have recognition between the Win7's and the Vista.
The WinXP can "see" the Win7's but "do not have access" for some insane reason.
The Win7's can NOT see the WinXP's.

HOWEVER, the Win7 can see the WinXP as a "MEDIA DEVICE" (just not as a COMPUTER).

Let me restate... everything was working perfectly just yesterday. When I got up today... nothing... nada.

Hello all,
I've been experiencing some strange issues that lead me to believe I may have some sort of infection. Here are the symptom's I'm seeing:
Last night my network was having many, many network issues. I logged into my router and saw that my computer had 400 active connections. I was able to get it down by shutting down applications such as Chrome, Netflix, Spotify, Blizzard Battle.Net, instant messenger, Steam, and Origins. I ended up shutting my computer down and decided to look again in the morning.
With the issues going on, web site access was happening very intermittently.
When I got on my PC to see what the problem was I had a notice that the Origin client (EA game client) couldn't log on because it was logged on in another location. I've only got it installed on this computer.
After the PC was shut down I reset my router and modem and connection seemed to be going fine.
I woke up this morning and checked me email on my phone and found a message saying that my twitter password had been changed. I fired up my twitter app and was still able to connect. I went to twitter to try and force a log on and was able to connect with my old password. I looked through my feed an saw that my account had sent out about 20 spam messages in the middle of the night. I changed my password to be safe, but who knows if that'll do anything.
Anyway, I'm really worried something is going on. Can someone help me out?

I reformatted my computer because after installing service pack 1 and other updates from Feb 14th my computer has been having issues getting a dhcp from my router. I have a windows 7 home premium 32 bit laptop that works just fine. I also have a ubuntu machine that pulls an address from this router and an xbox 360. From what I've read other places online it appears this is a bug with dhcp that appears some time around windows 7 service pack 1 x64. Is this update the one causing issues with the dhcp problems I'm having? Should I uninstall service pack 1 or reformat and not let windows install this? I'm a little confused as to what this problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A:Dhcp issues and network connectivity issues since windows 7 x64 sp1

I've never heard of a service pack creating a DHCP problem.

You might want to try resetting your router either by pushing in the reset button "hold in for ten seconds" or you can reset the router from the router's service page or unplug the router for ten minutes then plug it back in again.

Just because other machines can pick up the DHCP address doesn't mean it's working correctly for all machines. Routers can limp along sometimes but the functionality becomes erratic until you reset them.

Or you can try using the ipconfig commands, such as the ones outlined in the link below.

Hello, I've been having a few issues with my HP Pavilion dv6000 that I received from a friend. The first issue is that certain programs that would normally run on this computer when I first did the system restore won't run anymore. I try to re-install it but even the setup program doesn't even load. The one time that one does load is for Google Drive and it sends me to an error message. I do have images of the error message including computer information should it be needed. The second issue is that we just received the new Xfinity router/modem unit which I believe is an Atheros model with WEP2 AES coding and even though this laptop connects to my neighbors Netgear without issue, it will not sync to the Atheros at all. What I do end up with is thirty minutes of network identification only for the IPv4 to only read local while the IPv6 reads limited. I have tried turning the internet router off and nothing happens however I have the ipconfig/all information on a separate screen cap. I hope that this is enough information and though I have all the information in two screen captures, I don't feel 100% comfortable sharing this information over the forums just like that.

Anyway, I installed Vista Ultimate 32 Bit and everything was working fine. I ran windows updates twice and after the second time my network no longer works. I have tried updating the network drivers with latest on Nvidia downloads. No luck. I have a feeling that these Nvidia drivers are incompatible with one of the Vista updates? I'm putting in a PCI NIC card for now but would like to fix the onboard network. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try to resolve this networking problem? Maybe use a genaric driver for the network driver?

Chances are one of the windows drivers replaced something important required for proper functioning of your on board network controller, try uninstalling them first and then reinstalling with the latest nForce driver from Nvidia's site the latest I can find is 15.23. Before you do actually install it boot into same mode and run a program called driver sweeper and use it to get rid of the nVidia chipset files. After that reinstall with 15.23 and see if that works. Just as a note when installing new drivers for video cards and similar hardware you should always run driver sweeper to get rid of all traces so you have a clean slate to install on to. Give it a try, post a reply with your results.

Greetings, I just switched my main computer from XP Pro to (in a different HD) Vista 64.
One of the reasons for the switch was that I had purchased the computer with 8GB of RAM and I wanted to see what kind of performance I could get from it.

These are my specs:
Computer Systemax
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz (2397 MHz)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista x64
8GB of RAM (4 when I extracted these specs - I was testing to see performance)
DirectX version: 10.0

Realtek Winfast PX8600 GT HDMI(NVIDIA)
GPU processor: GeForce 8600 GT
ForceWare version: 162.22
Total av. graphics mem.:2014 MB
Dedicated video memory: 256 MB

As far as the performance issue, I am afraid I am not seeing a definite increase in performnce comparable to the XP Pro installation with just 4GB (3.25 to be exact, due to XP utilization of memory)

I am starting to woonder if there is something I can do to increase the system performance otehr than the obvious (Take out Aero, etc.) It's not the the computer is slow in handling programs, but some interface activities, such as opening and closing folders and windows, launching programs, etc. Are as fast or slower than on the XP OS.

Most recent problem:

It's actually hard to explain precisely what is going on, but I'll try my best.

Performance is an elusive issue in higher end computers such as yours.First tho' - Most likely your graphics drivers are a tad bit corrupted, and the following will help to update them:Download the latest forceware drivers for your OS and video card (according to what I read, these are the most current: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_169.25_whql.html )Uninstall the nVidia stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program.Uninstall the video card from Device Manager (go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter)Reboot and dismiss any "Found New Hardware" dialogs.Double click on the freshly downloaded drivers and follow the prompts. In most computers the big 3 performance issues are:- the hard drive- the RAM- the CPUSo, that's the first place to check. Luckily Vista has a number of tools to help with this. The first is Task Manger (right click on the Task Bar and select "Task Manager". Scroll through the tabs to see what's going on inside of your system.Next, go to Start and type in "compmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then start looking at this stuff (it's listed in the left hand pane):- Event Viewer...Windows Logs...both the Application and System logs- Reliability and Performance...Monitoring Tools...both the Performance and the Reliability monitors- Device Manager- Disk Management- Services and Applications...ServicesWhat are you looking for? Around 2 days ago the connection to internet on my computer suddenly failed. First I thought it was a router/modem issue, but I soon discovered this wasn't the case. I checked the ethernet cable, it's light was green and so was the router's light. I plugged the cable into my xbox, it worked completely fine.

So I started searching for clues on my computer, and after a while found out that all my network adapters have a yellow exclamation mark, and error code 31. This includes my main adapter:

Intel Pro 100/VE Network Connection

And all of my:

WAN Miniports

Searching the internet, I found some answers but they didn't work:

-I tried rebooting my router, entire network and computer
-I tried ipconfig /renew, it said that there wasn't anything available on my computer to perform that command
-I tried updating the drivers for my network adapters, but they said all my drivers are up-to-date
-I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver software, but it wouldn't do this
-I tired disabling Ipv6, but it wouldn't do this.
-I cleaned my entire computer with a registry cleaner and a Hard drive cleaner, scanned for spyware, malware, viruses and trojans. Nothing detected.

Can anyone help me? I would really appreciate it.

I recently purchased an HP desktop with Windows 7. I also own a desktop with Windows XP and a laptop with Vista. I networked the Windows 7 to the existing network ?workgroup?. Then I following instructions from this website:
When I went into the folders on the Windows 7 in order to set share setting, the button entitled ?share? was grayed out. I can view the Windows folders from both the Windows XP and Vista computers, but when I try to access the folders from the Windows 7 computer it says the following:
?Windows cannot access \\WAYNE ? Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click diagnose.?
I even followed this advice by changing the registry files:
1. Open the Start Menu.

3. Click Continue for UAC prompt.
4. In regedit, go to: -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa

NOTE: If it doesn?t already exist, create a DWORD value named

Thinking this was still a malware issue, I posted in that section of the website (see link below). I have since been cleared of malware, but we have determined that the issue is related to the Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager and WLAN AutoConfig, both of which are set to start to automatically start when booting, but seem to be crashing. My taskbar goes back to normal and the internet works once I manually start these services.

Hi All,
Problem is the Vista Machine connecting to the shared HPG85xi AIO on the network.
I am working on installing a Vista Home Premium Gateway PC on an existing network that consists of a 98 machine, two XP home PC's and an XP home laptop.
With the exception of the laptop, all PC's are connected via ethernet cabling to a Linksys WRT54G sharing cable internet access.
One of the XP home machines and the 98 are connected to a Dlink switch which is wired to the Linksys router. This XP home machine has the HP connected locally and shared.
All PC's have printer and file sharing enabled. All PC's are in the same workgroup, all PC's can see and share files bidirectionally. Including the Vista machine. All PC's with the exception of the Vista machine can connect and print to the HP.
When you try to connect the Vista to the HP, and it doesn't matter how (using Network and connect, using Printers to add a printer, using add a Printer to set up a new network printer and entering the path...whatever), the error message is "Access is Denied" before you can even install the drivers.
I used my IBM laptop running XP Pro to serve the HP via the USB connection (same as how the XP Home PC is doing it), the Vista can connect and print no problem; so it would seem there is an issue with the access rights in the XP Home PC sharing the HP.
I also tested the Vista PC on another network that runs XP Pro and it connected and printed with NO issues.

Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). None of my antivirus programs will download updates, even ones I start manually, and although I have no problem acc... Read more

Hi, I'm new to this so bear with me :/

I know there are a lot of forum posts on this on this forum and many others but after 8 hours of trawling through them and getting nowhere I thought I would make a thread with my specific problem and see if anyone can help.

I got my new graphics card yesterday, and after 4 hours of trying to get that to work, it's in and working but now I have a red cross where it says my internet is connected and when I click on it it says No Connections are available. I have a wired connection, and the ethernet cable is in (there is no light on my mobo to confirm this). When I troubleshoot it says:
Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter you will need to reinstall the driver.

I have got my MOBO CD and attempted to do that but the gigabyte interface is completely missing and I can't find the network adapter on there. I have also tried downloading the new drivers, first on my laptop and running them on the PC but that had no success, and the second time through my Iphone personal hotspot but with the same results.

I know the ethernet cable works because I have put it in my laptop.

I have a Gigabyte H61MA-D3v Mobo
i5 2500K
8 GB Ram
GTX 770
Running Windows 7

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated because I'm close to putting my foot through my PC.

I've installed windows 7 as upgrade to vista home premium in my Toshiba Satellite P205D-7802 laptop. Most everything seems to be running fine. My big problem is my network adapters (for wired and wireless - they are different) don't show up at all in the device manager?

I understand the whole installing a driver with compatibility mode but that seem quite impossible if the system does not even find the devices?

System was bought new 1 year ago with visa home premium and everything was working fine before the install. I have the drivers to install if I need the old vista drivers but it does not good.

I can install the drivers and when it gets done it says they are no good until the device is attached?

Any and all help is appreciated.
