Preferred Solution: [Messaging app] Can you make video calls?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I'm trying to use the latest version on Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726) to make video calls. I have a working webcam and microphone setup already. The problem is that the option to start a video call is faded out, therefore meaning I can't click on it. All the different ways to start a video call are faded out, which means I can't click on it. All the setting under "Tools" -> "Set Up Audio and Video" are correct. I am running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. I have a Microsoft Lifecam VX 1000 (includes microphone) that is working perfectly fine.

What can I do in order to get video calls in Windows Live Messenger?

Thanks in advance.

A:Solved: Can't make video calls in Windows Live Messenger

I haven't used Windows Live Messenger for quite some time . You might try uninstalling it . Restart the computer then download and install again .

I presently use Skype for video calls .

We are going to call them in a few hours so if anyone got good ideas please tell me what proggies are good for this stuff, thanks !!

my modem does not have voice jacks (audio out, microphone in) only 2 phone line jacks. it is a "lucent win modem".

can i use this modem to make phone calls from the pc and talk on the pc's microphone and speakers? or do i need to buy a new modem that has those plugs on it?

A:using modem to make phone calls

You would need to check the 'Lucent' site to see if your model has voice/fax/data capability.
Irrevelent of the jacks, voice uses your audio card/microphone slot, but as mentioned you are required to check the modems capabilities.

OS: Windows 7
Office: Outlook 2010
Software: ShoreTel Call Manager and Microsoft Lync

For a while now we've had Office 2010 installed, and we use in IP phone solution made my ShoreTel. In outlook, when looking at a contact, I could right-click and hit "call" and it would bring up a dialogue box and I could have my IP phone make the call. Very cool.

We just installed a Microsoft Lync server, and now the caller wont work any more. When I right-click the contact and do call a Lync dialer opens instead. If I close Lync and go to call it works as it is supposed to.

How on earth do I get Outlook to bypass the Lync dialer?

I'd rather call it malware than virus, but..

You'll mostly come across them on "free" pr0n pages which needs you to download something for free access.

Of course, if you don't have an analogue modem or ISDN card you're safe...

USB Mating Calls ??!! (so frustrating, I gotta make a joke about it anymore)
I dont know how else to explain it.... other than I think my computer is in HEAT !

For the past two weeks, Ive been experiencing a problem with what sounds like the same sound you get from when you unplug a USB device- that sorta like a “ding dong” sound that happens in Windows 7.

Sometimes the tones will occur just once, other times it can be one after another.
No matter what ... my computer may lock up anywhere from less than a second to upwards of 5-8 seconds!

The only thing that has been consistent so far, is the fact that it's the SAME tone as when you UNplug, a USB device.

Does anyone know what else shares that same (warning/error) sound?
I've unplugged all my devices, except for my mouse. – it still does it.
I've switched mice – and it still does it!
It “SEEMS” to do it more often when Im on the internet (I use Firefox) – so I killed all my add-ons. It still did it
I tried Google Chrome – It still did it
I used I.E. – It still did it
I removed my USB Drivers and reinstalled them – it still does it.

I have scanned for Viruses, checked my Device Manager, etc…I am beginning to becoming suspect to the possibility that I may have/am being hacked into – yes, Im paranoid, (but I have reason to)[be].

Hi Mastroj,

Video conferacing has nothing todo with the OS your using, it depends on their configuration and firewall settings

If they cant see you during a conference then the problem is on their end, if you cant see them then its a problem with their webcam or its on your end

Like many people, I have been using Zoom a lot recently I use Zoom on my Lenovo IdeaPad and I connect a bluetooth headset because I find the built in microphone is not really loud enough. However, every 15 minutes or so, I get an alert that my speaker is not working. At that point I need to turn off my headphones and turn them back on. When I do that, the entire Zoom will freeze. Does anyone know of a way I can fix this?

I have a IdeaPad S340-15IWL. I have been using a LG bluetooth collar.
I also used JBL Endurance Sprint - and the same thing happened.
Today I tried Anker SoundBuds Slim - these had the same issue.
Then Anker SoundBuds had another problem - they work, but when they are connected to my computer, I cannot hear anything through them. I know they work because when I connected it to a phone I was able to hear.

Hi all

just when I decided to invest in a smart TV and looking forward to using Skype to video call - Microsoft in its wisdom has decided to pull the support for the app and quick as a flash Samsung - the maker of the TV I was going to buy say it will no longer be available on their new smart tvs from June this year (2016). So now I'm totally confused as to what is a next best option to do video calls on a TV.

I know there will be other options and ways round this but I want the next best quality option without too much fuss when I want to use it. Would it be better to go back to HD and link the TV to a pc either via cable or wirelessly - can I use Chrome cast. Whatever I do it needs to be easy to use on a daily basis - I want to use this to teach online. In particular, does anyone have experience of using Google talk on a TV ??? please share
I realise I may have to get another monitor for my pc now to make this happen but I want to persevere with having a TV option too. ANY help and advice welcome but please use plain speak in any replies, thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I been using Skype for a long time now, but have only recently started using the video call feature. I find it quite useful. The problem is that the video freezes after a minute or two when I make video calls. I then have to restart to unfreeze it. I can be a hassle. The video freezes on both sides of the video call. One minute my video would freeze then the other side freezes as well. The audio is fine. There is nothing wrong with my webcam.

I have a Microsoft Lifecam VX 1000. Windows XP Professional. Service Pack 3.
I have version 4.1.0.141 of Skype

How can I make video calls that don't freeze?

Thanks in advance.

A:Frozen Video Calls in Skype

My experience has been that if I have too many extra's turned on the camera, it might freeze. I have a Logitech cam, and it has a feature called Low-light boost that sometimes has given me problems. (also accessed through Skype at Tools>Options>Video Settings. Then click on the button that says Webcam settings>Advanced Tab).

Other possibilities:
*Double check your camera driver for the latest version.
*Bad internet connection (double check firewalls, anti-virus etc.)
*Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX
*Make sure the camera application software is running at the same time as Skype.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Everytime I use Skype or Google Hangouts my computer completely crashes during the call at some point. It can be 10 minutes in or 40 minutes in. I have reinstalled Skype. I have reinstalled my audio drivers as I thought it might be Conexon Smart Audio causing the crash (I have an ASUS K501U).

Recently I made some changes to speed up my CPU, I increased the quad cores (which I have subsequently decreased again) deleted my temporary files and deleted some unwanted applications. I also disabled start-up on some applications.

Since this point I have been experiencing problems. Can somebody please help! Thanks.

I have a HP Pavillon dv6000 with an intergrated webcam, and it comes pre-installed with Cyberlink Youcam software (and in case u ask, yes I do have the latest update of it). Im using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit and Service Pack 1.

Video calls with people who do not have Windows live messenger 2009 (or any of the beta versions) is perfectly fine and show is sending and viewing each others webcam. With WLM09 users, I can send and view my contacts' webcam just fine like always.

However since I installed the new messenger I cannot video call other contacts with the new messenger. The second I click the Video tab to start a call, my messenger freezes, and the same happens if I accept their call.

I found one way of going around it, under audio and video set up if I do not set the CyberLink Web Camera Filter as the webcam I want to use, i.e. I select the default Simplo Webcam, which is the webcam with no software, it works! The only problem is the video quality is TERRIBLE and dark when I choose Simplo Webcam for some strange reason. I recently got my hands in a 30 min. MP4 video that's HD and is only 90 MB! I got the very same video from other site, and even though it looks mostly the same, it weights almost 350 MB. So, I wanted to find out what made this video so compressed and yet look so crisp. I tried using the SUPER © converter to find out what's so special about the 90MB video, the codec used, the bitrate, the H264 settings, everything, then I used those settings to convert a video I had and see if it became lightweight and kept the good quality. But every video I convert to have those very settings ends up being heavy in size and with a lot of image noise, unlike the compressed one which looks fantastic.

The one setting in the compressed video I couldn't replicate was the bitrate, so I guess that's the cause. SUPER © said this about the bitrate:

"Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 500 Kbps
Maximum bit rate : 2 935 Kbps"

So I tried using a BitRate of 2.935 Kbps to convert a video, and even though the video looked as good as the compressed one, it was about 450MB for a half-hour TV show which is far from the 90MB of the compressed one. Can't I convert a video in SUPER (or another converter) to have a variable bitrate, like the one in the compressed video I found?

I created a movie with windows movie maker, and now I want to use DVD complete to make chapters and menus, but the windows movie maker format is not dvd compatible, so DVD complete will not read it, how can I convert this video file to a m-peg or some other dvd compatible file so I can make this movie.
THANKS

A:How to make my Video

btw - mpeg is the only dvd compliant file format, anything else needs to be recoded

use tmpgenc (freeware)
http://www.tmpgenc.net/

when loading the file (should probably use the project wizard from the main menu for starters, choose ntsc dvd for the template), select 'all files' for the file type so .wmv shows up

then just follow it through - you'll get a dvd compliant mpeg

- make sure the video size is 720x480

- you might want to select 'output as elementary streams...' at the final wizard screen, some dvd authoring software prefers the audio and video separate, not sure about dvdcomplete thought (it'll split the streams anyways at some point and the mainconcept engine it's built on is decent), check first so you don't waste encoding/conversion time

FYI: depending on your encoding parameters - the file will increase 10x to 15x the original, just did a test on a 1.2 mb file, average quality - ended up as 15mb

I'm trying to produce a so-called 'fan' video for eventual upload onto YouTube. I've matched images (photos, pictures) with the audio piece. I then burned the project onto disc (using Nero 7) but disc would not play on my DVD player. I think this may be because some of the images are optical illusions and as far as I'm aware these kind of images (and gif's) can play havoc with DVD players. So I burned the project onto CD (Video CD) and things worked (sort of) fine. However, the audio and image quality seemed to suffer. If I decide to live with this, how do I upload this project onto YouTube ? Bearing in mind YouTube do not accept Video TS files which will be the format after inserting disc into computer. I do have a video converter programme but drag-n-drop fails. So how do I convert this into Mpeg ?

Hey I have this video of me playing piano that I wanted to put up on youtube.com. However the video is over 1 gig and is in .avi format. I need to make it less than 100 mbs to be put on the site. The recommended format is:

* MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
* 320x240 resolution
* MP3 audio
* 30 frames per second
Any suggestions? Can I convert it in some way?

-thanks

I'd like to know what the connection improvements will depend on if I choose to use the wireless connection by adapting my computer to this.

I am using Safari on the web on my Mac G5 with OS X. I used to be able to click on certain videos and they would automatically launch Windows Media Player and play a streaming video. Now, videos download to my desktop and then play in WMP once they are downloaded. How do I make videos stream automatically when i click on them without downloading first?
I tried going into the preferences in WMP and Safari but no dice.
Help is much appreciated.

There MUST be someone out there reading this who knows how to do this. So many people do but I can't find one that does. You see many videos all over the internet of people lip syncing to music. I am trying to do the same exact thing. I have a Logitech webcam and am able to record. I also have Windows Movie Maker (windows xp home edition) and I am able to add sound tracks to it, but SEPARATLEY. It says I am supposed to make the video first then add the sound. BUT I need to listen to the music AS THE VIDEO IS RECORDING. Can someone please tell me how to do this....OR AT THE VERY LEAST TELL ME HOW TO FIND OUT.thank a bunchMod Edit: Closed open tags. ~ Animal

A:How To Make A Video W/music With Webcam?

...

Well, I'll give you 3 extremely easy ways to do this.

1. If you have a portable music player, you could listen to it and record yourself

2. You could play it on a a stereo or something and sing to it, then in Movie Maker add the music file

3. You could play the music file on your computer and sing to it, then add the music file in Movie Maker.

Not that hard, just got to think a little bit.

Dell Pricision M6600 original AMD video card stopped working.I bought new AMD video card for Dell Precision M6600 (right in attached image), but original video card  (left) cooler (center) is not compatible with this new card.
I searched ebay, Aliexpress and parts-peope.com but havent found heatsink for this card or other card which is compatible with original heatsink.
How to find heatsink for this card or other solution to get video into Dell ?My Dell service tag is 944TLQ1http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/ServiceTag/944TLQ1/configuration

A:how to make new AMD video card working

There is only one heatsink listed for the AMD GPUs this system supports -- you may want to verify the card you purchased is a Dell part (it has an MXM 3 connector, but it may have come from another system - the cards are used by many other manufacturers).

Hi everyone, I want to be able to play games like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the latest games coming out for PC.

Here are my specs:

Dell XPS 400
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.8 GhZ
1.00 GB RAM
Radeon X300 SE 16X HyperMemory Graphics Card
Windowx XP Media Center Edition

I was reccommended upgrading my memory to 2.00 GB, and purchasing the Nvidia 8800 GTS card.

Can anyone suggest a professional opinion? I appreciate any help!

A:Help me make the right Video Card choice!

Getting 2GB of RAM is a step in the right direction. Make sure you get the right type for your motherboard, which would be DDR2 667MHz. As for the video card, the 8800GTS would be bottlenecked by your processor so you won't be able to get full performance out of it. Instead, get a Radeon X1950XT and you'll have a PC that meets your needs. Otherwise, to have an 8800GTS run at it's full capacity on your PC, you'd need to upgrade the processor to a Core 2 Duo. In either case, you'd need a new PSU (Power Supply Unit) from a reliable brand like Antec, Thermaltake, Corsair, Enermax, Fortron FSP or PC Power & Cooling. It should also provide at least 550W. Make your choice and let me know what you can afford. I'll suggest parts accordingly. Also, I assume you're in the US? If elsewhere, do let me know.
