Invalid block address

Q: Invalid block address

I've recently reconnected my HL-DT-ST DVDRAM Drive and now when i burn i keep getting an error 'invalid block address' but it does not write any data too the disk.
I was thinking about upgrading the firmware but i am not sure if its worth it
- See attachment for log file

Preferred Solution: Invalid block address

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Invalid block address

Does the issue occurs if you use different type of media and speed?

Is DMA enabled
- Turn DMA on. http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm

How much disk space do you have available?

Im working with windows xp and netgear wireless adapter n150 it says that it has successfully accessed the wifi but in the status it say that theres an invalid ip adddress then when i go to view network connections it says acquiring network address i have enabled the adapters. I dont know what else to do im on my laptop now so idk how to get the cmd screen here.HELP!

A:invalid ip address/ acquiring network address

Mr Juice ,

Yeah it looks like your WiFi router is not, acknowleding your Adapter with IP address. A good trouble shooting command is

ipconfig in the cmd prompt, (Usuually you will see starting with 192.168.x.x... or something or 172) but if you see 169.x.x.x, then tell me. I can say you have a problem

ipconfig/release and then ipconfig/renew see if this helps.

I am using Windows 7 in 64 bit and have connected to web with Netgear DGN2000 Modem/Router.

I am trying to set 3 Address Reservation's for 3 items on my home network. 2 will work but the 3rd and main PC has a Mac address starting with 90 (unlike others that start in 00) when trying to set I get an error saying "Invalid Mac Address".

Internet research suggests that you should save with "00" inlieu of "90" and then do a backup of settings. Then edit actaul backup file to set the real address back to "90" and then restore that file to the router.

Well I tried that and restore says that's invalid file. I then tried a backup file as a normal backup process with no edits (also no address reservation for main PC) and the same error appears. So don't know what good a backup of settings is if that does not work.

Are there any suggestions or should I just forget and deal with the ever changing internal IP addresses?

Hi, I cant renew my IP Address And what shows up in the support section is

When I try to renew my IP Address in the CMD The following error happens

"An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is already in use of the network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address."

A:Address Type: Invalid IP Address HELP!

Repair duplicate IP address on network issue.
Turn off everything on the network, ALL the machines and any other network device like network printers and NAS drives.
Turn off the router and modem.
Turn on the modem, wait for a steady data light.
Turn on the router, wait two minutes.
Turn on the network devices and computers, one at a time.

This issue is usually caused by resetting a router without resetting all the network connected devices.

Another issue that will cause duplicate IP addresses is assigning static IP addresses to devices that conflict with the router's DHCP address range. If you require static IP addressed devices on the network, they should be configured to be in the same subnet but outside the address range defined for the DHCP server.

Eh, may sound kind of strange but I think I have a stalker. Over the last few months I have been getting odd e-mails from this one person who I do not know (supposedly), now I have been getting messages left on my AIM by the same person. I set up a "spy link" in my profile and I now have that persons IP address. Is there anything I can do to somehow block that address and make myself invisible to this person?

A:XP: how to block an ip address

With most email clients you can just setup a rule to delete emails from a specified domain. You can set your AIM preferences to block certain users or only allow people in your buddy list to contact you.

I have 2 computers connected to a router connected to DSL modem. Both computers have Kerio Personal Firewall. The logs keep showing that address sends out UDP through port 138. I read somewhere that this is a broadcast address. What is that?

Is it ok to block it? Will it affect file transfers between my 2 coms or the internet connection or something else?

A:Is it ok to block broadcast address?

It's a NETBIOS port for mapping a drive on the network. If you block it, it will probably affect drive mapping between the two computers. If you put your local LAN in the trusted zone for the firewall, this problem should not exist.

hi!im in need of immediate help as to how i can hide my friend's ip address from hackers. i have a friend who was betrayed by her co-worker and has submitted her email address to some computer company to track her ip address and hack her computer to know my friend's location.my friend has deleted that email add account already, can her ip address still be traced?help pls. thanks so much. she just wants her ip add hidden..hoping for immediate responses. thanks!

A:Help Me Hide/block Ip Address

Just curious: What "computer company" offers the service of finding and revealing physical addresses from e-mail addresses?

If your friend has high-speed internet, the IP address can be easily changed by simply unplugging the modem for a while, and then plugging it back in. I do this to change mine 2 or 3 times a week, just for the sake of privacy.

You can create a rule in Outlook, based on the Subject in the email.

Open the message you want to base a rule on.
On the toolbar, click Create Rule.
In the Create Rule dialog box, select the conditions and actions you want to apply.
To add more conditions, actions, or exceptions to the rule, click Advanced Options, and then follow the rest of the instructions in the Rules Wizard.

Hope this helps.

I am putting together an old system to use. I reformatted the 2.65 gig hard drive that I was given for free. Told it works though noisy. Ran into some problems getting win98 se installed but finally ok. Tried to install a free 3 month internet prog (bell sympatico) and when i was asked to reboot i got error msgs.

so i reformatted again thinking that maybe the internet disc was corrupted but now i have scandisk telling me that the lba MAY be incorrect.

i accepted the large disc formating (+512mb) it forced me to make a second drive. so i have c (formatted) and extended drive d (also formatted) which is active as a logical drive (or some such, the exact wording escapes me right now) what would be the best steps for me to take right now should i delete the partitions and start over and if so what exact steps should i take to partition? thanx berthasbutt

Unless you use an ad-hoc network of some kind, I'm pretty sure they would need to go through a router that you are both connected to. You can employ MAC filters on a router pretty easily, on your computer it may be more difficult.

Hello there!

I wasn't entirely sure which forum to post this in so please forgive me if it's in the wrong place.

I have a frequent visitor with an odd IP address. This site isn't particularly well known so it's a little odd to have a frequent visitor that we don't know, especially someone who doesn't have a valid IP.

The IP address is: 2600:8801:8700::

Underneath that this number and letter set appears: 76638dbe-6c6f-4d17-8060-8f05670da4da

Provider: Unknown
My questions are: Is this a bot? What does this IP address tell me? Can a location be found from this address?

Thank you in advance!

I tried ipconfig renew, I got with the ISP and theyu walked me through checking the right boxes in the network connections, restarting the modem, and they checked connectivity from their end. I tried repair, and it said it couldn't because of tcp/ip so I got that to install. But when I hit repair now I get a message saying that it can't repair the IP address. Have you tried reflashing it to the new version again and have you checked the manufacturers site for tech support on it.....possibly sent a note to their tech support?

The most common causes of this error message are either bad memory or malware.Download, install, and run MEMTEST to determine if you have a hardware problem.Thoroughly scan your hard drive with you resident Anti-virus, making sure it is updated, and also scan with several anti-spyware applications. You can find links to these here:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.htmlRegards,John

How have you got them setup exactly?

Are they connected through a hub or a switch then to the router?

Are you using DNS on the router? (Domain Name System)

We need more information so we can help.

Dell laptop was running XP & IE7. It had a virus attack. IE8 was installed during the attack by the owner.
The virus has been neutralized and IE8 was reinstalled but when IE8 opens the first screen has a tab that says "connecting".
It then shows a screen that says Address invalid and shows Desktop: .... something in that tab. Entering ANY url in the address bar yields the same address invalid message.

Firefox runs fine. Any programs that want to download (virus defs, IE8 install, etc.) work fine.

So what is wrong with IE8?
OR how do I remove IE8 so I can reinstall IE7 which previously worked?
When I tried via add/remove programs it would not allow it.

Hi, I've got a problem with my IP address on my computer. When trying to sign into Messenger, I get an "invalid IP address" error, though sometimes that goes through okay and it says my Gateway is offline. I've tried renewing the IP address in the command prompt and get an error saying something along the lines of "DHCP timed out"...I've scanned for spyware/adware in normal and safe mode with Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Ewido with nothing coming up that changes anything. If someone could help, that'd be great.

A:Invalid IP Address

First. What kind of internet connection do you have? We want all the details including the type (cable/DSL) and any devices used (modems/routers/interface cards).

Second. On the Windows command prompt run "ipconfig /all" and paste the output here.
