I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All,in the last days i performed a bios upgrade for an issue that now is solved: sometime when i powered on my Yoga 260 only with battery - fully charged - it didn't switch on.....it needed to feel the AC plugged in just for a minute (and than plugged it off), to let me switch on the laptop with battery.  After the Bios Upgrade (N1GET84W 1.63 - 21/12/2017), everythings seems to work properly except for Touchpad/Trackpad: Uefi Bios is correctly configured with the two field of Touchpad and Trackpoint "Enabled"I upgraded all driver of my laptop from Windows Update and from Lenovo Support web page (also checked from Lenovo Vantage app)Under "Mouse Settings" the Touchpad/Trackpoint settings are enabledMouse Settings                    My O.S.: Windows 10 Pro - Versione: 10.0.16299 - Build: 16299 I searched on forum and on internet but i found similar issues with no solutions that worked for me. Any idea about it? Best regards to all and Happy New Year!

Hi all,First post!  My Dad's Lenovo laptop goes to a black screen when starting up, so is unusable.I haven't seen it in the flesh yet but have started to research things for him and have found that 'black screen' shows up quite a lot for Windows 10 and Lenovo PCs! We were so impressed with my Dad's PC I've ended up with the same model myself:Lenovo YOGA 500 Convertible Laptop, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 15.6" Touch Screen. Also labelled as: Yoga 500-15IBD Laptop (ideapad)  I see some people mentioning hardware failures and others device driver problems with the graphic card etc. but haven't read a definite cause/fix for this so far. I've just found this recent critical BIOS update for this PC which mentions the black screen problem:Software name: BDCN63WW Version 63[Important updates] Fix Win 10 lid close black screen issue.http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/yoga-500-15ibd/downloads/D...I haven't seen this mentioned in the forums? Has anyone else used this?If the PC always boots to a black screen I'll obviously have trouble installing this! I'm hoping that it will boot in Safe Mode or I'm going to have some trouble installing it?! I don't know whether to install the BIOS update on my own machine which is running fine - I think I'll wait until I see my Dad's laptop first which will be in a few weeks. Has anyone had any experience of this BIOS update or other comments on this?Thanks. &nb... I'm still wondering about this... I've just updated the Lenovo Companion after seeing it mentioned in another thread. It looks like this s/w is supposed to scan the PC and recommend Lenovo updates - critical and nice to have ones. Initially the Companion was showing a critical update for Lenovo SHAREit and a recommended one for my BIOS. It says I'm currently on BDCN28WW and offered something like v61 and not the 63 I mentioned in my first post? After letting it update SHAREit and re-scanning the BIOS update is no longer being offered and still shows me on v28 ??? I'm not sure I trust this 'Companion' app!My laptop seems to be running fine so I don't want to break it updating the BIOS if it's not required. For all I know my Dad's broken one may be broken because it upgraded?! Does anyone else use/trust the Companion app?And has anyone else seen it change it's mind on recommended BIOS updates? Thanks.

Hi all, In order to get the best sound quality out of your PC, there would be compromises such as disabling devices, power saving, and security.

A. Access BIOS
Step 1A ? Follow this guide to access the BIOS if you are using UEFI version of Windows

Step 1B ? If you are using Non-UEFI Operating Systems, restart your PC, and press F1 during POST (Lenovo Screen)

Hello everyone, I have a Thinkpad Yoga 260, which suddenly stopped working. The laptop would fail to post, giving me 5 short beeps, pause, 5 short beeps on startup without keyboard backlight, or anything on the screen, while the fan spins, the error code suggesting it's a motherboard failure. The laptop's warranty has expired, and being an engineer, I took it apart and tried all possible power/reset/clear cmos cycles posted here, with no success. As I remember updating my bios rather recently, and reading that several users managed to bring their laptop back with a reflash, I tried reflashing the desoldered chip with a CH341a programmer, and trying to clone the bios chip with new 25q128fvsq chips I have bought. My issue when flashing the bios is, that I am unable to verify it, regardless of what I write to it, and regardless of chip.I've tried cloning the readout of the original untempered chip, but whenever I write the image to a chip, reading it back I get a mismatch. Furthermore, I've tried flashing the latest bios by extracting and editing the .fl1 image by removing the non-bios hex values from it and pasting it in place of the bios region of the orignal chip readout (as shown here). The image I've made matched in length and structure to the readout, yet, after flashing I read out a different image than the one I've written. When trying the new flashes, soldered in, I have the following results:new chip with old image: keyboard backlight fla... Hello! I have a brand new Yoga 720 (121KB) and I'm having a strange issue with the sound. When I play music, such as Spotify, through the computer, the sound is loud and robust. When I am watching something, however (Netflix, HBO, etc) -- even if the computer is at full volume -- the sound comes out much more quietly than it does with music. Clearly the computer has the capability to create the level of sound I'm looking for, but that isn't being transferred to TV sites.  Has anyone encountered this? Can you offer guidance?  Thanks!

Hi. My X1 Yoga 1st Gen has BIOS version 1.33 (according to Lenovo Vantage). Lenovo Vantage, System Update or Automatic Driver Update on the Lenovo website don't find any new updates. However, I can see on the website that a version 1.35 is available and I could download it manually. Why doesn't it get installed automatically? Is there a reason not to update to 1.35 at all?

I put Vantage on my Lonovo Yoga 900 and saw there were a lot of hardware items which could be updated.  All successful. Then - rashly- I updated the bios as well.  Ive done this on toshibas and its always been fine.  So wasn't concerned about it.   The bios it there - I can see it through the Nova button.  But when I press start button  I get the blue screen with the dreaded message 'Default boot device missing or boot failed.  Insert recovery media etc etc I cant access the recovery area on the laptop without the boot working. So I may have bricked it?Is there a way of getting rid of the updated bios C6CN39WW, and reverting to the original which was (I think) C6CN29WW If there is a way, does anyone have a blow by blow procedure - - not too technical please? Thanks for any suggestions on this.

Hi, I'm getting recent prompts to update the most current BIOS on my machine. I'm not finding anything in this regard on all sections of Lenovo's Support site. I have concerns about updating due to BIOS issues that are well known throughout the year, such as the Spectre/Meltdown Side Channel Attacks fixes, and other BIOS problems I've read on Lenovo's site. I really appreciate any feedback you have before I do the update. Thanks!

Now that this problem has occurred and I've been hunting for a solution I see that people generally warn against doing BIOS updates. Unfortunately I didn't know about that and was just naively letting the laptop go ahead with whatever updates it wanted. Too late now. My laptop shut itself down like it was going to restart, when I looked back over ten minutes later it was still sitting with a black screen and LED light on. Unresponsive to anything. It's been two hours now.  To make matter worse, I'm trying to contact Lenovo customer support and keep getting a "document not found" page error when I try to get to the contact information on Lenovo's website. I do not want me messing with the bios.  How do I un-do or get help without a laptop, or with one that is wounded. Lenovo, you have to make this less scary, fully automatic and error proof, and easier to do.  Most of us know nothing about any bios or bios menu, and I don't want to know.  No benefit really stated from doing the update.  Things are working fine, don't need it.
