I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How to boot from ideapad z5070

hi DorianDiaconu,

Thanks for Posting!

First go inside BIOs by tapping F2 while turning on the computer.
Then go to the Exit TAB and make sure that the OS Optimized and OS Optimization are selected to Other OS or Disabled.
Then Go to Boot or startup tab Make sure that secure BOOT is disabled
and Boot mode and Boot Priority is set to Legacy.

Now hit F10 to Save and Exit

Insert the CD and Turn the system OFF

Now when the computer starts up start hitting F12 (while the system is turning ON)
You should have a boot selection select BOOT menu or Select the CD / DVD

This should make the CD's load the Installation.

I have bought a samsung evo 250gb ssd to install my os partition to it from my HDD. I have created a recovery usb drive from my present HDD(controlpanel->recovery->create usb recovery). Then removed the HDD from the slot & replaced it with SSD & boot the system. While booting up i have selected boot from my USB drive which have the recovery, & continue the steps & finally submit the reset button.System shows "Resetting the PC" & after 10 seconds it shows a screen saying 'There was a problem resetting the PC, no changes were made'. I have tried several times but the same message came. Can any one please help whether the steps followed by me are correct , else please help me. Because i'm facing very much slowness with my present HDD(WD 5400 rpm), that's what i'm planned to move the os partition to SSD & keep the HDD in place of optical drive bay using a caddy. I don't want to loose my Genuine Windows 10 with my present system. So please help me with a resolution.

Hi Deshazzz,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with fan noise from your Lenovo Z50-70 laptop.

Try to remove the dust through the energy management, go to energy management select maintainence guide and select dust removal option and check for the issue.

Try to update the graphic driver and check for the issue, if the system was shipped with the graphic  card? Is the system overheating while using any application?

Hi, I have an Ideapad100-14iby, BIOS version CCN18WW V2.04. I run openSuse 42.2 on it, I installed it in the past via a USB stick. Obviously that worked. Now I want to do another install, but whenever I try to run the usb install and hit F12 to get into the boot menu and select EFI: USB Boot I get an error message that there is a problem. But no details. I tried various sticks, all the same.  Does anyone have an idea? I am especially puzzled because the old installation worked and I am not doing anything different - I think. A bit of search revealed that some hardware support 64 bit OS, but only a 32 bit UEFI. Can someone say what the situation on my laptop is? And if only 32 bit UEFI what I can do. thanks! K.

Hi.I bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it.When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network.I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot.I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook.I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career. I even downloaded the file efi\boot\BOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks?Does someone have a clue how can I boot from USB?Thanks in advance!  Bupitz

A:USB boot for Ideapad Z500

Hi,

I don't think I can be of much help, but a couple of things to try:  if your USB flash drive is formatted NTFS, it will only boot in legacy mode if it is bootable at all.  One thing you might try is to set the partition active if it isn't already.

If you want to boot in UEFI mode, format the flash drive with a single FAT32 partition.  Copy the contents of your install DVD to the flash drive.  If you're using an ISO copy the contents of the iso using a tool like 7zip.  UEFI bootabiliyt doesn't require using a special tool to prep the drive.  Just format it and copy the install medium to it.

Win7 requires CSM support in bios to boot successfully in UEFI mode.  That may always be enabled in UEFI mode or it may be a separate option in BIOS.

So I recently was trying to reinstall Windows 8.1 on my Ideapad Z585, and it will not boot to any USB drive or CD drive containing the Win8.1 install files.(The original Windows install is gone, I had to wipe the drive using my main PC.)I first tried  creating a standard USB installation media using the official Win8.1 Installation Media Creation tool.Created it on an 8gb USB drive, formatted in FAT32.After selecting the USB to boot to on the laptop, it displays the Lenovo boot logo with the spinning circle of dots underneath for about 15 seconds, then a black screen.Tried the same process, but with a RW DVD. Burned the image to the CD with Imgburn, completed and verified with no error.Same issue.I've tried resetting the BIOS settings to default, as well as changing it from UEFI to BIOS, and disabling secure boot, all to no avail. I'd chalk it up to something in the laptop being faulty, but it does boot when I use a Ubuntu 16.04 install disc. Boots to the live CD perfectly fine. So, is there something very specific I need to do to boot to a Win8.1 install media? Or, could it be another problem? If need be (and if possible), I could most likely update the BIOS from within Linux, but I wanted to wait until I asked here to make sure.Thank you for any help!

Hello and welcome,

Is this an 11IBY?  The 11IBY requires  UEFI 32-bit boot media.  Legacy and 64-bit media won't work.

How did you create your image, and how are you trying to boot it?  Did you use the "create recovery drive" option?  I'd expect that to make bootable media.  (If that option exists - I don't have personal experience with that machine).

Anyone else have luck with an SCCM PXE Boot via USB to Ethernet adapter?  I have set the BIOS up for Legacy Support but when I get to the boot menu, it doesn't have PXE as a choice.  Only "Windows Boot Manager" or the hard drive.   I also looked to see if there was a BIOS firmware update but there is not.  I think it has to do with needing a BIOS update that will allow a PXE Boot.  I work in a school district and there is no sense in buying these if we cannot PXE Boot. Lenovo techsupport tried to help me to no avail and suggested I try this forum for answers. There was a Helix device I believe at one of our other schools that had the same issuse and the tech there told me he contacted Lenovo and they were able to update the BIOS to make it work.   Any chance, Lenovo, you can do this for the Ideapad 110s type:80WG.  Sure would be helpful and we would be more likely to buy many more if we can do this.

Hello,My 3 year old Ideapad S510P/Windows 10 started with a boot problem a few weeks ago. The symptom was that the power light came on, the disk started to spin and then 2 seconds later it shut down with the power light extinguished. About 15 seconds later this repeated and after a few attempts it would boot normally.Last week it just stuck with the routine of trying to start - as above - and kept trying until I removed the battery. The disk has been connected to another PC and is functional. I tried a new memory module to no effect, and also tried the routine of removing the battery, pressing power a few times and then trying to boot. Problem is identical on battery, battery + external charge and external charge only.Nothing moves it beyond repeatedly doing the 2-3 second start-up loop.Anyone got a suggestion other than send it for recycling? Thanks,

Hi MightyMouse11,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number / MTM from the sticker (ex 80X5005DUS )? You can also check it here.

If there was a preloaded OS then the BIOS defaults need not to be changed as we expect it to proceed to boot. If there is failure then best to contact the store / tech support to inform them for appropriate action. It would either be the image or an issue with the storage part specially if the drive do not show in the BIOS.

Update us how it goes.

So if you want to boot from some bootable DVD/CD (when drive is plugged) it starts from there.. same with usb-flash/HDD-drive contains bootable material  and so on...

that easier than pressing Fn-F11 ...

No BIOS password necessary..
