Preferred Solution: YogaBook does not start after System updating

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone, I have two questions:1,Is there any way I could potentially make use of my lenovo yoga bluetooth detachable keyboard to make it work as an external keyboard for my Yogabook? My Yoga was mechanically ruined but its keyboard was saved with not even a scratch. I would like to use it with my new Yogabook but it doesn't seem to read it. My Yogabook touch keyboard works fine, just want to have an extra keyboard with some extended functions (home/end etc.)2,The touch keyboard on my Yogabook seems to have a second delay when I pause in writing. Is looks like it is caused by automatic text saving. Is there any function enabling adjustment of automatic saving frequency? Or what else might be the way eliminating this? Thanks, Alex

Ok guys, yesterday i was just doin the good old maintenance on my dad's laptop (spywayre, virus, updates, and cleaning up) so i did scans and cleaned the registry and also was updating to SP2... but when it was finished, i think, the laptop turned off (restarting after the installation) and then when it turned on, it asked for a password, anyways, the password check passes through when i type in nothing in the password box... and then windows starts openin up, and i see the wallpaper then "windows explorer" crashes and the laptop just stops with the only the wallpaper and nothing else on the screen except the mouse... The same thing happens with the safe mode too... and also when i use the "Start with the last known working configurations"... I dunno what to do? can anyone help please?

Also i wanted to just reinstall the windows files without formatting but my dad's laptop's recovery disk only allows a fresh install with formatting... (he has a toshiba m40).. does anyone know how to install a fresh copy without formattin with this recovery disk?

Thanks for the help guys!

You cant re-install the OS without formatting unfortunately. Try running it in safe mode.

i just formatted this pc and after a few updates now icant get in my properties as it is just a shell and my start button and time is gone ...... can anything be done ... oh if i hit the flag on my keyboard the menu for start shows up but thats it

A:Start Menu And Time Are Gone After Updating

Position you mouse on the very bottom of screen and see if the taskbar pops up. If it does then that means your "auto hide" option is enabled and all you have to do is right-click the taskbar then go to properties and uncheck "auto hide taskbar". If you still dont see the taskbar, try to position the mouse on the very bottom of screen and left-click and hold while dragging up. Otherwise I dont know what else to do, hope this helps.

Hi,

I just received a DELL Optiplex 9010 with WIN 7 installed. I was a bit rushed and thought updating the Bios would be a good idea and didn't realise I was installing v A01, so a downgrade..

Now I can not start windows, when the PC starts it begins to boot but soon after the loading windows icons start there is a blue screen (stating to check the hard drives for errors..) and the machine goes to the Windows Error Recovery screen. I've tried to use the Launch Startup Repair tool but it doesn't seem to find anything wrong..

Not sure what to do from this point? Is there a way I can install the correct version of the bios for this machine?

Thank,
Scott

I updated my windows 7 32-bit machine but after some restarting now it doesn't start up. That is it doesn't show the desktop screen. I tried to repair it using Start up Repair but it can't fix the problem. I also tried the following command in "system recovery options" > command prompt:
X:\Sources>bootrec /fixmbr
and
X:\Sources>bootrec /fixboot
but no changes occurred.
Any idea to fix that?

Both applicactions do very well, but, after Spybot installation, the PC's complete start is different. Small Avira's umbrella remains closed by a relatively long while until Spybot's Tea Time shield gets installed; only then Avira starts updating and any intent to operate the PC before, means troubles as, for example, no Avira updating or even opening. HiMy 2 year old pavilion notebook now does not connect to the wifi when starting up and still won't connect when putting the password in, it will only connect when I re-boot the router.  Other devices we have, do not have this problem. Also, it will not update any windows updates, not sure if this is because it configures updates when re-starting and cannot connect to the internet? We've also tried upgrading to windows 10, but that doesn't work either, presumably for the same reason it won't do normal windows updates. We tried to restore back to a date before this started happening, but no luck.Any ideas??

Hi there @Choccie,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I understand that you are having an issue with your Wi-Fi on your HP Pavilion Notebook PC.  You said that you need to reset the router for your Notebook to connect every time. I did some research and found a great document for your called Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet. This document will help you troubleshoot the Wi-Fi issue.  Please make sure that you check out the section that says "Other things to try" also. Once you expand the title Other things to try, you will see a section called Change your wireless environment. In this section of the document there is a chart that you may want to take a look at. It will tell you how the environment can greatly impact the effectiveness of your wireless network. It then gives you a chart that you can use to improve your wireless functionality.  If you are receiving any of these errors:Internet Explorer cannot display the Web page.Work Offline: No connection to the Internet is currently available. Not connected: You are currently not connected to any networks. Here is another document called HP PCs - Resolving Broadband Internet connection problems (Windows 8).  Have you tried to Restore the BIOS? Have you tried to directly connect to the Modem/Router? Have you uninstalled the driver in the Device Manage... Give this a try

If you create a recovery DVD, you may be able to boot to recovery options
Create Recovery DVD.
Hard Disc Controller must be set to IDE in BIOS and Bios must be set to boot from the CD Boot Priority - Change

The Vista recovery disk is used to boot Vista when it won't boot - to run Startup Repair, System Restore, access a Command Line, Recover using a Vista Backup Image, etc.
System Recovery Options. Choose an option tht will not cause you to lose your stuff.

If Vista will not start now, boot the Recovery CD to run Startup Repair which automates System Restore as well as numerous other tests including System File Checker which can repair system files which are not corrupted beyond repair.

If Vista still will not start, try booting into Safe Mode to run sfc /scannow to repair System files.

Within the last month or so, shortcuts on the start menu haven't been refreshing when their respective icons actually change. This only pertains to 3rd party programs and games--not those downloaded from the Microsoft store or included in Windows by default. For example, Steam recently changed the design of their logo. This change was never reflected in the start menu. There are at least several other apps, like the PortableApps launcher, that the same is happening to. I've actually had to go to the entry in appdata and completely remove them and re-add them to get the changes to show. Never had an issue with anything like this until relatively recently, though I can't place one particular event as being definitive. It may have been like this for even longer and I wouldn't have known until a few things updated anyway.

See system spec for details, as everything is up-to-date. Let me know if any other information would help. This is obviously not a dire issue, but an annoying one. It would be nice for software to update icons and have those changes reflected rather than having to add manually.

My dad has been having problems with his pc. He talked to his ISP & they suggested looking for driver updates for his system. Is there something on his pc that tells him what to look for? I did a search for drivers for myself the other day (I'm having problems too.), and found drivers, but nothing to tell me which ones I needed personally. They had some components of my system listed, but didn't tell me if I needed the updates. Is there some way to tell. If we install drivers we aren't sure we need are we gonna mess something up?
Thanks!

A:Updating System drivers.

If its a wondowsXP system then do a system restore backup before updating any drivers, then if there is a problem you just restore to the point before you did the driver updates.

Driver scanners are useless and inaccurate and a waste of money.

If your computer's devices have the drivers installed and are working fine, it's not mandatory to update the drivers.

Well I upgraded to windows 10 a few days ago, and it seemed to create a new profile or something, the default videos, documents, etc in windows explorer were new and empty, but all my old stuff was still there, so it didn't bother me much, but today I restarted my pc and there were some updates, and when it was up and going again, all the files were back where they were pre windows 10. I later find that everything I did between windows 10 upgrade 3 days ago and the update today, is gone... So I needed some of that stuff, and tried to do a system restore, which had been set before the updates today, but when it starts up again, it automatically applies the updates again and I have the same problem...
I can't find windows update in control panel now to turn it off manually, but I'm not sure if that'd even work, seeing as I'm restoring it, it would probably default to the settings at the restore point? Anyway, anyone know how I can fix this? It must be possible, why would it set up a restore point before an update if it couldn't restore before it....

So I went on to updating my graphics drivers since it had been on my mind to do so. About half way into the update my desktop then crashed again. Only this time it cannot even get windows 7 64 bit to start up.

Then I ran the Start up Repair program. I get a message that it cannot repair it automatically.

On a history note. This PC has been pretty good to me. A few months back I had a bad run in where my RAM wasnt being read correctly and a simple re-docking fixed that. That was solved on this web forum as well. I don't know if its connected. Just a reference on history.

I first noticed this issue when I did a fresh install of Windows 7 recently and I noticed that the recent programs in the start list was failing to update new programs that I opened (ones that were not pinned to the taskbar) and the only way of fixing it was to go to Taskbar and Start Menu properties, untick Store and display recently opened programs in the Start Menu, apply, and then switch it back on again. I initially thought this was an issue with a corrupt install, I tried a clean reinstall and got the same issue. After much experimenting I discovered that the issue occurs when you switch out of an Aero themed desktop to a basic theme, obviously it was occurring on a fresh Windows install because Windows 7 fresh install starts with a basic them by default. I have tried several clean installs and get the same result, I can only think it is a bug, or something to do with a Windows Update?? My particular install of Windows 7 is Windows 7 Home Premium Update (I have to install Vista first), any thoughts? I dont recollect having this issue in the past.

A:Recently opened programs in start menu stops updating???

Not sure how to help with your problem, it does sound like a bit of a quirk but it is possible that it relates to the way your upgrading

my system is old. i purchased it in 2003. it's time to start updating it / replacing parts.

i plan on staying with my windows xp for a few more years.

it would be nice to be able to update individual components now, with the hope that they should work with a windows upgrade a few years down the road.

i use my PC for ebay, amazon, craigslist, banking, surfing for information, forums, youtube, working with and saving photo's, burning cd's.

if i could improve the time it takes for my PC to load web pages, and video that would be a big plus.

my question is, where should i start, and what would be a good replacement part ??

i just replaced the hard drive, and added more memory to it.

here's what i have now......

hello!

My question is two-fold...

First, I have been using Microsoft Photodraw for quite some time now and I just love it! However, I haven't used it in about 3 weeks and when I tried to open the program, all it says is, "unable to start the application." I have the CD but when I tried to re-install it, i get the message: "setup has encountered a problem updating your system registry." I uninstalled photodraw and re-installed it but i still get the same massage. I even tried disabling the "auto protect" feature of my anti-virus software. Can anyone help me please?

Secondly, is there any other program out there that's as user-friendly as Photodraw 2000? I have Photoshop 7 and Adobe Illustrator. They are so much more complicated to use. So I am looking for the counterpart of photodraw.

I would be eternally grateful for any advice anyone can give me!

A:Help please! Problem Updating System Registry

Hiya and welcome

Which version of Windows are you running? Also, when the error comes up about the Registry, is there an error number as well?

If you're on XP, are you logging in as the Admin?

I recently had an issue, whereby my computer would no longer startup for unknown reasons. In order to fix this, i found a windows 7 cd (previously windows 8) and installed it. It was all going well until i attempted to update my graphics card driver. Each time i do so, i get as far as the windows logo on startup, the computer somewhat reboots, and it goes straight to a black screen with only my mouse visible. Every time, i have to go into safe mode, uninstall the driver, and carry on without. My graphics card doesn't appear in the 'windows experience index' under either 'graphics' or 'gaming graphics'. Any help would make me a very happy boy, thanks!

A:updating Graphics card driver results in black screen after start up

Have you tried waiting for at least 5 minutes before everything gets back up running? It also happens to me everytime I update something and restarts and everything gets ready up on a minute.

I have searched the internet but it's difficult to pinpoint what's going on which makes it hard to search. Here's what I have, hopefully someone has an answer.

I did a fresh install of Win7 64 Ultimate. First thing I do is update. After downloading the updates it begins to install the malicious software removal tool update but my system just hangs. It's not locked up it just hangs on the install. I figured ok I'll reboot and try again. Same thing happens. On the 3rd attempt I deselected the malicious software removal tool update and the rest of the updates install fine. Microsoft's answer to this problem is to hide the update lol.

Later I am installing my Logitech mouse driver and it won't install either. It looks like it's starting to install but just hangs. Again the system is not locked up just the install is frozen.

The next day I installed Office 2007 and start the update process and 2 of the office updates will not install. The rest of the updates install fine but

Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems (KB973688)
and
Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems (KB954430)

will not.

I am at a loss as to why this happens. Any ideas would be appreciated.

FYI - I have severe eye problems. If I don't respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

Please provide this info for a more complete analysis (even though you don't mention any BSOD issues): http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html

Did you use KillDisk or DBAN (both are free) on the disk before installing Win7?
If not, please try that 1st - then see if the updates still hang.
Don't use any custom settings when installing Win7 and have it hooked to the internet when you start.

Hello all
I was running windows 7 home premium perfectly for the last around 7 to 8 months. the other day I updated system bios and thereafter got the message to reactivate windwos. I used my product key but turned out to be invalid. I am in trouble kindly help help

A:Cannot reactivate windows after updating system bios

For an OEM system, deactivation after a bios update would point to a modded bios being used earlier. However, you have not filed up your system specs. Please run this tool, click Continue, click Copy, then paste the results here or paste into notepad and upload the text file.

When I use either of my two system images (one which I have already used successfully for my existing install) and from two different HDD's, I now cannot update and get "unknown error code 8024402F" which googling seems to suggest may clear itself at some point. The MS Updates repair did not fix it.

Decided, after googling, to just re-install which I have done many times without problem. This time the second set of 124 updates had three fails (KB2544521, KB2703157 & KB2598845) even though I update on shutdown and have never had fails before.
Then , after one more successful update, I started getting the Unknown error update failure I had after the system image restores.

My questions are:
Are the original Win7 install disks problematic due to the large number of updates and would the use of a SP1 install disk be better? (Have done 96 updates previously (on shutdown) without a single fail)
Has anyone had this update error (after an image restore) and it sort itself out eventually?
Anyone know of any tips or tricks to minimize/avoid update problems after install with non-SP1 install disk?
Or, know of any tips or tricks to avoid the update error problem after restoring a system image?
Win 7 has been problem free for me, since 2009. My router is unchanged and since an image restore (I gave up on the re-install after updates stopped working) has updated to the latest version of MSE (4.1.522.0, KB2754296) and latest antivirus definitions automatically.

A:Not updating after system image restore or re-install

Solved by uninstalling .NET Framework 4 Client Profile. Updates then work.

Tried to repair the above first, but only uninstalling works.

It gets re-installed by updates (seeming after the Malicious Software Removal Tool has run!?) and Updates stops working again.

Not sure what's going on but at least I can get the latest updates. It's just crazy that I have to keep uninstalling the .NET Framework each time to update.
