I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Gang,

My Yahoo mail Premium doesn't allow me to search mail older than one month anymore. How do you retrieve messages older than one month?

Do you have to import or export it to another program? IF so which one? Thunderbird, Outlook, Earthlink or another?

How have other yahoo mail users dealt with this?

A:Yahoo Mail Premium Does Retrieve Mail Older Than 1 Month?

I solved this problem myself. I downloaded a program called Yahoo Zimbra. Its like Outlook Express only for Yahoo instead of Microsoft.

When I downloaded all my emails to my desktop I was able to search all the way back to the beginning of my emails. I had over 20 thousand so it was significant.

Yahoo Zimbra is a nice little tool. Too bad they don't advertise it.

I have a file in my yahoo mail with picture in them. How do I copy those pictures onto a cd. I need step by step due to the fact I am computer illiterate.

A:Copying Picture In My Yahoo Mail Onto A Cd

Just a couple of questions, so the answer won't be too confusing:
1. Are you viewing your E-mails on the internet, or are you downloading them into an application like Outlook Express to open/read them?
2. Is the picture embedded in the body of the E-mail (like a web-page) or is it a genuine attachment (with the paper clip)?
3. Would you feel safer if you first put these pictures onto your hard drive, and then made a copy of these on a CD?

I have tried to find an answer to this but cannot. Lately, I noticed my User Account Picture was not the picture I had selected. In addition, the Background Picture for my Windows 7 Home Premium edition log on screen was changed. This happened after running a program that is for exams at school which reboots your computer into a safe mode where the only program available is a rudimentary word processor.

I contacted the company that makes that software, Examsoft, and they told me how to get my default logon picture for my Windows Logon background back.

To address the User Account picture, I went into Control Panel > User Accounts and attempted to "change picture". This is not an option, however, for my administrator user account. It is an option for my guest account. I tried cloning my account without the bad .dat files, but that didn't work either as the new account I had created, also an administrator account, did not display a "change picture" option in control panel either.

I ran sfc /scannow, and it found no errors.

I am not sure what to do. Has anyone encountered this? Can you please help me?

Attached is a screen shot:

Thank You.

It opens Microsoft Photo Editor to view the picture, but there is no picture there. I am running Windows XP SP2 and microsoft internet explorer. A:Unable to change User account picture

Hello Tally,

You might check to see if it opened a window that may be hidden behind another opened window. Sometimes these windows are small and can easily be covered up.

If not, then try a sfc /scannow command to see if it can find and fix any bad system files that may be responsible. Afterwards try again.

Hope this helps,

these instructions provided my Microsoft itself couldn't be further from the truth. It says on your Office 365 settings page, to click the photo icon, but there is no photo icon on the page at all. Nowhere in sight do I even see any trace of a photo icon to change. On my personal info page, it shows a generic picture icon, but it is not clickable or changeable! How do I change it? Because Microsoft's instructions are incorrect

A:unable to change Office365 account picture

Instead of trying in Office, go to your Microsoft account instead. https://account.microsoft.com/aboutFrom there sign in with your Microsoft credentials. Then in the upper right corner you'll see your 'missing' avatar use the pulldown to choose settings. Then on the right side you'll see the Hello greeting. Click the blank image circle and change it there. That will then update to all your Microsoft services.

My Windows 8.1 machine has only one interactive account - the built-in "administrator" account. It is just an internal file- and media-server without a monitor, which is accessed exclusively through Remote Desktop.

I would like to change the "user picture" associated with that built-in admin account. Trying to do it the "usual" way - through Control Panel -> User Accounts - does not work. Apparently, user picture selection is handled by a Metro app. And Metro apps are not launchable from the built-in admin.

Most likely there are workarounds. I can try using that hack that enables Metro apps under the built-in admin. Or I can add another interactive admin account and try changing the picture of the built-in admin from that other admin. I don't know whether any of these will work, I haven't tried yet.

But is there a more straightforward way to set the user picture for an account? Like copy the picture file to some folder or something like that?

A:How to change the picture for the built-in admin account?

Best practice is to not use the built in Administrator account for general use. Create an admin level account for daily use and leave the built in account for emergencies. If you have only one account and for some reason you cannot log into it you will have no access, no easy way to solve the problem. Having an alternate account makes this much easier.

Reason I need to do this is because I have about 200 workstations where the same exact local account needs to get created and a specific user account picture needs to be applied.

A:Change user account picture via command line

I don't know about copying just the picture. Log in as an Admin on the computer with the account you want to copy and Right click My Computer/Properties/Advanced/System Profiles. Highlight the Account you want to copy (you cannot be logged into the account you want to copy) and choose Copy To. Choose a Network Share. Then Copy it to each of the computers in question that you want to have the account on. this should also include the picture.. Maybe someone can write a batch file that would send it to all of the computers in the network in one click.

Hi and welcome to TSG!

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi --
My yahoo mail seems to have been hijacked -- there are 61 sent emails in my sent mail folder that I didn't send, all were sent at 2:08 or 2:09 pm, and I think it blasted an email out to all my contacts. The only reason I noticed it is because I got a bunch or responses (mailer daemon failures, out of office, plus a handful of my contacts asking whether I'd actually sent this out).

My question: how do I figure out whether one of the PCs in our home that I use to access this email account is infected, whether somebody else's PC is infected, or whether Yahoo's servers were compromised somehow?

This PC seems to be acting OK -- it's Vista Home Premium with Windows Defender and Symantec Anti Virus (version 10 something) running. I read something online about using Hijack This and posting the log file somewhere, but am not sure whether that's the best next step.

Good afternoon everyone:
Yesterday morning, I went to check my yahoo email account.
In the spam folder I noticed a email to me from one of my other Yahoo accounts that I use when I sign up to online forums.
I obviously didn't send it to myself, so did some investigating.
I don't have any contacts in that account, and it looks like the spam email was sent to the two addresses I had in the sent folder, although the spam email itself was NOT in the sent folder. Nothing in the account settings appears to have been changed.
I logged into that Yahoo account. When I checked in the account information section, it showed someone had accessed my email at 4:14 am from Thailand via Yahoo Mobile.
I don not use Yahoo mobile, and in fact own no mobile devises capable of using the internet. I went to another computer in the house and immediately changed the password for that Yahoo account.
So, the question i have is, does my system have an infection, or is it an issue on Yahoo's end?
I have run full scans of my system using Norton Internet Security 2012 (up to date), Malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware. All came back 100% clean. Could there be something on my system these programs aren't picking up? Should I try running them with windows in safe mode?

However, when I try to enter the mail app signed in via my local account, it always insists on my switching to a microsoft account. Is there a way around this?

A:Use Yahoo mail app with local account

No. In order to use any Windows Store App, a Microsoft account is required. Since you have Tablet, I assume you don't have the desktop thing.

I don't know why you want to avoid MS Account thing. If it is about privacy then use one but don't store any email on Outlook.com or files on Onedrive. This is one way to use apps. Also by the way Yahoo Mail App on Windows Store is was removed by Yahoo. So I guess you can use the Windows Mail App for Yahoo.

Your yahoo email account has been hacked. If you login to Yahoo and look in the Sent folder, do you see these emails listed there ? If so, then your yahoo account was probably hacked.

Your tcpview log looks clean, but that does not necessarily mean that you didnt/dont have a virus that logged your password. Only way to check for that is to do a thorough analysis in the virus removal section.

I'm asking this for a friend.

Since a few months ago when she logs into her Yahoo mail account the name displayed there is "Lyric" instead of hers, and shows a picture of a woman in a position not comfortable to look at. She also can't edit her Yahoo profile. We suspect it could be a hacker, or maybe malware.

She has SuperAntispyware, McAfee, Windows Defender. Her last scan was today, with SuperAntispyware, nothing came up.

Her specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1
Dell Inspiron MXC061
Processor: Inter ģ Core™ 2 CPU T5200 @1.60Hz 1.60 GHz
RAM: 2.50 GB
System type: 32-bit operating system

She's had this problem for quite a long time now, and we can't find anything online to help us get rid of it. We'd love any suggestion for a fix.

While I have another post on this issue already, I considered it advisable to make another post due to some significant new information that should come to the attention of viewers. I have learned that my access problems with my Yahoo mail account are somehow browser related because I have installed two more browsers and have different results within each for accessing my Yahoo mail account.

With Google's Chrome browser (with MyYahoo home page installed) I have no issues whatsoever..yet, anyhow.

With IE8 (Yahoo optimized version) I can occasionally get access, but then I tend to get lengthy delays in page turning or ability to insert info on page until fully loaded, and/or outright freezes which cause me to have to utilize the task manager to end the process when I get "not responding" reports.

With Firefox (4) I cannot access my mail at all and get "404 Not Found" error messages when I try using access links (interestingly I have the same error message for the advertisement box/section on MyYahoo home page).

I have personally also run scans for malware with Avast, Malwarebytes, Ad Aware, and Mamutu, but found none. I have also made a log file of a scan by Trend Micro's 'Highjack This", but I see no way to copy and forward the scan results for viewing by others (such as this forum).

And finally, I have sent a request to Yahoo for help on this issue, but have not yet received a response.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how ... Read more

Please check the spelling of the web address." About every 10th time I try to log in it will actually go to my mail account.

I have tried:
1 - Microsoft malaware scan,(no infected files found)
2 - malawarebytes (no infected files found)
3 - superantispyware (which found 631 infected files)
4 - Trojan remover (no infected files found)
5 - Hitman Pro (no infected files found)

And after running all of them the same thing happens. I've also updated my Java and uninstalled all other Java versions. I'm running Windows XP. What can I do?

Thanks! KT
