Program for recording S-video and Composite.

Q: Program for recording S-video and Composite.

I'm trying to hook up my PS3 to my PC so I can record the gameplay. I also want to hook up my VCR so I can record some of my my tapes to the computer for safe keeping.

My comptuer came with S-video and Composite inputs, but it doesn't have a program to record off of them.

What's a good program for this?

Preferred Solution: Program for recording S-video and Composite.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is there a video program or I guess a survaillance camera program which can be set to:

1. record when turned on
2. record a certain amount of time of video then, overwrite the file after that time period has elapsed
3. record in a small enough format as to be able to store that data on a hard drive

So i'm thinking of making video clips or tutorials for games using a good software. I'd like it if its free, or considerably cheap. I've tried Fraps but the files were a little big and it slowed my computer down very low (though I still have it to record FPS). I've tried Growler Guncam and it didn't work with my computer (the "sound" and "gmp, jpg, etc" folders were hidden). I was thinking of getting Camtasia or CamStudio, but my friends said it is not good for gaming. I'm thinking of playing low-ish end games like Starcraft and Warcraft, just it shouldn't be a memory hog like Fraps...

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to put together a birthday video for my girlfriend with a collage of her family members singing happy birthday. Most of them have webcams but the problem is I don't know of a dead simple program that records video from a webcam - we won't be in the same physical place so I'll be emailing them instructions on how to record themselves that's why the program has to be dead simple and easy to use. Any ideas or recommendations?

Hello there!
I like to record videos for World of Warcraft Events and turning them into some nice basic videos for the attendees to watch. I use Fraps to record and Windows Movie Maker to edit (I know, shame on me).

Recently, black brackets has started to appear on the sides of my recordings, when I put them into Movie Maker, this sadly ruins the recordings for me, due to some of the effects I put on them.
I recently changed from my Laptop screen to a monitor (Medion - MD 30159) 16 units wide and 9 units tall. Very old monitor.
I have tried downloading different movie editing programs, and another recording program and nothing has removed the brackets. According to an online guide I found, then I should be able to remove them by clicking from standard to wide, in the Windows Movie Maker program, but this only moved the brackets from the top and bottom of the screen, to the sides.
Could the problem for this be that my old monitor's proportions does not fit with the recording/editing programs?
Would it help me if I got a new monitor with other proportions?
Is there any possible way that I can remove the brackets of my current recordings? As I would hate to loose them (In another editing program? Settings in windows? Anything!)
- I use Windows 10 on a Lenovo Notebook (I think)

Thank you for taking your time to read this.

A:Problems with recording resolution for video editing program

Depending on the software used, it will either record using the desktop resolution or give you the option to choose your own resolution. If you are getting black bars, you are not recording the desktop resolution.

For best results and clarity, you should be using the screens native resolution in Windows and your games. In this case, that appears to be 1440 x 900.

Hi,
I've connected my vcr or dvd player with a composite cable (yellow, red and white) and try to see it on my monitor through the computer but I think the problem is the software. I have not been able to find a software that lets me see the Composite connection. Maybe someone knows of a software that would let me see the connection on my monitor. However when I'm playing my videogame consoles through the composite video I noticed there is a less than a second delay in the video and audio being displayed. When I watch the cable channels from my tv and the computer, they synch up at the same time. So the only problem is whatever is being displayed on the composite connector.

How do I normalize the lag that is being displayed by the ATI tuner?

Hi all,
I'm having problem with my Toshiba Tecra 8100 notebook composite video out to TV setup using Window 2000. I went into 'properties-display properties-setting-advanced' it brings up 'multiple monitor' and gives me three items: (1)controller option..(2)display devices..(3)TV setting. Under controller it gives me a choice of single or double controller. Under display devices it gives me LCD, LCD/CRT, CRT, LCD/TV, or just TV. Under TV setting it gives me NTSC, NTSC/Japan, or PAL. I had my Tecra 8100 notebook hookup to my TV according to the instruction that came with my notebook, and I had tried different combination of the item 1 and 3 above, but nothing work. My notebook screen went blank for 15 seconds, came back on, and reset back to the default LCD setting. While my notebook screen went dark, the only output I got was a hum in my TV speaker. I thought I had a defective cable so I went to CompUsa and have them tried my cable on their Toshiba notebook computers and have them helped me do the setup on their notebook using Window Me and 98 (they didn't have Win 2000 installed on their notebook) and everything works fine, but when they tried doing the same setup on my notebook with Win 2000, nothing seems to work. The CompUsa tech's told me the problem maybe because of Window 2000 not supporting my composite video out and told me to download a patch and/or drivers to fix the problem. It is my understanding that you would have to buy an adapter (aka "transcoder") to convert component output (S-Video) to a composite input. S-Video carries the chroma and luma signals on separate lines. Composite sends them together. You would likely have sync issues. My guess is that an adapter will set you back more than $50. If I'm wrong on this (not a geek type), someone should chime in.

Hi all,

I have a lot of video on my computer and want to connect the computer to my old TV to watch the videos (position of PC and seating is not worth the hassle of simply playing on PC)

My GFX card is a Radeon HD5670 and has DVI-I, VGA and HDMI output. Currently the VGA ouput is for my monitor.
My old TV has Scart sockets at rear and composite/RCA connections at front.

I already have a 3.5mm to RCA audio cable.

So, I was wondering if it was possible to connect a "DVI-I to composite" cable to accomplish my objective?

I have two different S-Video cords, both of which I have tried for this. I have a bunch of Composite cables I have tried, also. I just bought a brand new switchbox that doesn't use a power supply. I have a laptop with an "intel graphics media accelerator driver". My laptop has S-Video output. And I'm using the Composite input (video and both audio) on my TV. I'm on a Dell Laptop with Windows Vista.

I can't get it to work. I have gone to the Intel display properties, and the second "moniter" isn't listed, just the notebook display. I go to Display, and I right click the second monitor (under Settings) and click "Attatched", then check the Extend option. When I click apply, it asks if I want to keep it, but it didn't actualyl do anything. It reverts to the unattatched mode and unchecks the box again...

What's going on? Please help!

Thanks,

I am looking for a certain S-video cable to connect my geforce4 to my TV. Sounds pretty easy to do but not when the TV is a multisystem and has an RCA jack. I also own a ATI Radeon 7500 card which came with this handy little adapter to hook it up, if needed, to one of these kinds of systems. But with the Radeon the s vid is an 8 pin and the geforce is a 6 pin cable. SO using the Radeon adapter is out of the equation. The exact peice I need would be a 6 pin s-vid on one end and the other an RCA plug male or female. I live in Germany (US Air Force) and cannot find anything on the economy here for it. I was told I could hook up my Radeon and the Geforce together but not sure if that would be possible. Any info on that peice or a site where I could get it from would be helpful.

In other words, the sound that YOU hear from it.
E.G. If you wanted to record an error sound that Windows Makes (I know that they're in C: Somewhere this is just an example) you'd just press record and then play the sound and press stop. Simple.

Okay, so I use Recordpad version 4.18 for some recording work I do with my cousin, we chose the program because it writes the sound file as it's recording (We tried Audacity before which doesn't do that, it was a pain to work with), and it also has a setting that stops the current recording and makes a new one after a set time (2 hours in our case).

Now the only problem is there's about a 1.8 second delay between the recording stopping and the new one starting up, so if we're saying something at that point it'll get partially cut off. I don't know if this is because of recordpad or because of the computer, so I thought I'd ask.

Do any versions of recordpad have a more acceptable delay between recordings, or no delay. Or would anyone be able to recommend me a sound recorder that has the same feature with a better delay?

A:Need a sound recording program suggestion

I don't use that software (I have a recording studio using Sonar X3) but I would suspect the delay is the time between the program finalizing the first recording and initializing for the next recording period.

From what I see of the program it is probably the best for your situation, since you don't like Audacity. Other recording studio programs, such as my Sonar or any other will work the same as Audacity.
