Find Office 2010 Updates, When Office 2010 Isn't Installed?

Q: Find Office 2010 Updates, When Office 2010 Isn't Installed?

I don't know if maybe I'm the only one who runs into this problem or if it happens to a lot of people, but it seems to come up a lot for me.

I have had this issue on many computers but right now I am setting up an old Dell Latitude E5510 for an employee and I have reformatted, installed all drivers, and programs needed. I installed Office 2007, because this employee won't really be using the computer much.

I start up Windows Updates today and it has me downloading 3 updates for Windows 2010. This computer had Office 2010 on it before it was reformatted. Is it still sensing Office 2010 buried somewhere in the files and that's why it's asking me to install updates for it? Does Office 2007 use updates that are also made for 2010(and are only labled 2010)? Anyone have any ideas? I don't believe it's hurting anything, but I am curious!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Find Office 2010 Updates, When Office 2010 Isn't Installed?

I get those type of updates for my Office 2003. There are some later updates that can be applicable. For example, I installed a converter that lets me open later MSWord formats (2003 is doc) and now I get updates for later Office versions.

Am not sure what to do with these updates:

Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553181) 32-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553310) 32-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553455) 32-Bit Edition

Windows Updates says they are important.

I do not have Office 2010 installed. Office 2007 is installed.

My security software keeps telling me I am at risk because my operating system is not up to date.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

A:Receiving updates for Office 2010 but Office 2007 is installed.

If your computer is relatively new, it may have come with a trial install of Office 2010 - check the Start menu, and the Programs & Features listing.
You may also have installed Viewers for things like PowerPoint 2010, which still require updates.

Hi everyone,

When I first got my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1), it had a preinstalled trial version of Microsoft Office 2007. I removed it via the control panel (Programs and Features) and installed Office 2010. However, I still get Office 2007 updates via Windows Update. They even installed successfully.
There are no Office 2007 components listed under Programs and Features.

Why am I getting Office 2007 updates although I've got only Office 2010?...

Hi, I recently formatted my Dell Inspiron Duo netbook, with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I installed all of the software which I run on it without any problems.

When I try to update Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus (32bit) Windows Update only finds a few updates, and after they're installed it doesn't find anymore updates. It doesn't even find Office 2010 SP1.

{Note: I had no problems with other updates like Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or other Microsoft updates.

I tried uninstalling Office 2010 and installing it again but nothing changed. The privacy settings which show up the first time you run an Office application I set it as "Recommended settings".

I also tried downloading Office 2010 SP1 (32bit) and when I tried to run it an error came up saying something like version mismatch (I presume that you need to install other updates before running the setup & I also tried to download an other update but the same error came up.)

I didn't have this problem before I formatted the computer.}

I hope I gave a detailed description of my issue, and thanks.

i remember with windows xp and office, you could go to a different part of the microsoft windows update website in Internet Explorer, and it would prompt you with ActiveX to allow updates for Office, and after you did that then when you went to the normal windows (xp) update site there would be a whole other section of updates for microsoft office available. That was with office 2007 anyway.

i use a dell restore cd for windows 7 professional, on a dell pc obviously, to install win7 from scratch.
I can do windows updates no problem.
I have microsoft office 2010 professional plus with a valid license key, these are provided by my IT dept.
Office installs fine, during the install i can go through the options and install excel, powerpoint, all shared tools, and so on. Once installed, it works fine. There is no service pack installed at this point.

From here if I go windows update, I never see anything for office.
From within office, Microsoft Word file menu help for example, it shows office is activated and if i click on check for updates there it then opens an IE window which says updates can be done from start menu - programs - windows update. If i do that, it's a normal windows operating system update and I get nothing for office.

I have manually downloaded from microsoft, Office 2010 SP1 and SP2, and have installed either one.
When i go to the help menu it then shows office 2010 SP # so the service pack seems to have installed no problem. But I still never see any upd... Read more

You mean what's called Microsoft Update. If you go in to the settings in Windows Update, do you have this checked:

I have Office 2013 Pro Plus, but the click-to-run version which updates itself and is not part of Windows Update. But I don't think there's a click-to-run version for 2010 Pro Plus so that is probably not the issue here.

Hi there
Why on earth do people insist on using these 3rd party uninstaller apps for BOG STANDARD Microsoft applications --Ms OFFICE is one of the most used pieces of software on earth so installing / uninstalling it should be a breeze via STANDARD uninstall method.

Had you simply uninstalled via control panel then the entire problem would not exist.

Your 3rd party uninstaller obviously hasn't done its job properly as there is still some indication on your machine that Microsoft Update thinks you still have Office 2010 installed.

IMO 3rd party apps are better left for NON OS type applications - things like installing / uninstalling / updating software should be left to the OS itself. Very few 3rd party apps IMO should be allowed to interfere with the internal functions of the OS itself -- even AV software - but that's another issue.

My solution here would be to either restore your syste to a time before you installed the "Uninstaller" app or re-install a clean copy of windows, re-install the version of office you want and apply the updates.

Note -- when Ms updates programs it might make all sorts of registry changes "on the fly" and it's impossible for a 3rd party uninstaller to be able to handle or even find all these changes.

It seems that there may be a problem in Office 2010. I just installed it to the standard MS default/recommended settings .........all looked good...used Word great..until I use Excel and each time I try to use excel it sets off an 'Office Configuration' screen which I can not stop..it take a few minutes and then loads OK. I tried to launch it from the installed prgrams icon but there is no files on 'start in' etc..I tied to create a shortcut to the desktop from the excel.exe file and get the same reconfigure issue..it seem that somehow I don't have either permissions or I have a corrupt install..all Office suite works eventually Anyone know how to fix it..please?

Have you ever had a previous version of Office on this copy of win7?

Do you have any component of a previous office suite installed still

I have seen this in the past with Viso that was due to remnents of an earlier trial remaining on disk and in the registry.

I also found that if I cancelled the configuration screen the Viso would load without problems without the need to wait for completion.

There are some rather involved solution stems on Microsoft website - cannot find them at the present but will try to look for them.

The problem was that I could never get the removal steps to actually cure the issue and I put up with the error until my next re-install of Win7, which was not to long in the case of that system

With my continuing efforts to assist my brother in tailoring his new ThinkPad (X1 Yoga) laptop, I've recently discovered an unexpected problem relating to Microsoft Office, and specifically (at this point), with Word. As indicated in this post's title, his laptop came with Office 2016? pre-installed. Subsequently, Office 2010? was installed by his I/T staff to eliminate the extra expense of leasing (via Office 365) or purchasing/activating the resident Office 2016 code. But Windows seems determined to make using Office 2010 unnecessarily difficult.

Specifically, regarding Word 2010, with .docx associated with this 2010 version, whenever one clicks on a .docx document, Windows pops up a message stating something like ? this is a rough paraphrase; I can't recall the exact wording ? "This application cannot run on your PC. Please go to the Microsoft store to find an application that will work with this file." However, .docx files open easily from within Word 2010.

Being curious, I'm all for understanding the how's, why's and wherefor's of this seeming impediment, but I don't want to unduly burden any readers/respondents with an explanation. I'd be happy just to learn how to correct this situation; i.e., to be able to click on a .docx file and have it open within Word 2010.

Perhaps it's necessary to uninstall Office 2016. It might be preferable to find another solution, in the event my brother may (at some point) want to go ahead and start using Office 2016. ... Read more

A:Office 2010 Updates?

Hi Pat,

To judge from the details of Microsoft's security May bulletin, there were updates for MS Office 2007 and below, but none for Office 2010 (at the link below, choose "Affected Software and Download Locations", then "Microsoft Office Suites and Software"):

In addition, MS Office 2010 is indicated as non-affected by a vulnerability which affects previous versions of MS Office:

If you want to check whether you missed any updates, you can either run Windows Update (make sure that you have the option to receive updates for other Microsoft products activated), or you can try out this suggestion over here and update MS Office 2010 from within the program itself:
Keep your computer updated by using Microsoft Update - InfoPath - Office.com

I hope someone can help me. I bought Office 2010 Home and Student a couple of weeks ago and it was working fine. My problem is that MS Office 2010 has suddenly lost auto correct, grammer, thesaurus... All that works is the dictionary. In Set Office Preferences, clicking Languages tells me the proofing is not installed and when I click on the link it takes me to Micro Soft looking for money for a language program. Also have the I to click on the tabs for review, home, etc. I have looked at all the settings and have restored them back to their default settings, without change. A:Up-grade from Office 2003 to Office 2010 or Office 2013

I can't speak to Office 2013, but I've done numerous upgrades to Office through 2010.  When you install the new version, you have the option to keep the old version or just replace it.  Starting with Office 2007 the familiar menu bar has been replaced with the ribbons which take a lot of getting used to for folks used to older versions.  There's a little program called UbitMenu that will add most of the menu bar functions back in the 2007 and 2010 versions that a lot of folks find helpful.  If you do opt to have two different versions installed at the same time, what happens is that when you switch from one to the other, it goes through a juggling act that takes a minute or so.  It's a bit of a pain, but if you need it, it could be a convenience.
Good luck.

It looks to me more likely to be a problem with the website - it appears to be written in compliance with IE versions 6, 7, and 8 rather than more modern ones.
Having said that, it seems to be a Wordpress-based site - so if the version has been updated properly, then it should be compliant with later versions of IE as well. As far as I can tell, it's based on v4.2.1, which is the latest version.

However, Word itself is notoriously bad at interpreting HTML (and even worse at writing it).

Anyone out there done this already or know if it can be done?

Hi everybody
If you've ever re-installed W7 recently (or office 2010) there's a myriad of updates that can take a long time (I think around 1 GB of downloads if you include Office).

Is it possible like we did with XP to "Slipstream" the Service packs and updates into W7 and an Office install media.

Would be useful - but haven't seen any mention of this.

Office 2010 sp1 is a separate download and W7 retail doesn't always have SP1 included.

Since it's related with update i categorized this topic as windows 7.
I have been trying to solve this problem for several weeks but no luck.
Have a look(Recommended; since it has much more information) at my post in other forum.
Like title says, i'm keep receiving updates.
Thanks to FixIt i managed to decrease update to 3 from 7.
But that 3 updates.... they are bugging me.
Any solutions for this problem?
Thanks in advance
P.S-I'm currently using office 2007.

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I just can't get the updates to install. I installed Office 2010 witha clean install last month & had to reinstall it twice to get it to do the updates into Ofiice 2010. Now it's doing the same thing again this month. W7Pro X64 Updates installs fine.

I even installed the System Update Readiness Tool & performed a full system scan with no items found.

Updates KB982726, 2494150, 2493983. I tried each one seperately & downloaded to my HD & still fails.

As you can see, the title states the issue.
When I open my list of default programs, my MS Office 2010 is not listed.

Does anyone know why and how I can ADD MS Office to my list of programs??

Thanks !!!

A:MS Office 2010 installed but not listed in my default programs

had the same problem, but with the beta version.

anyway, there are some who claim that they have to do it manually, depending on which version of office you installed, 64 or 32, will depend to which folder your exe's are in.
here is the 32 version:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
the 64 is the same, but without (x86).
here is a quick summary how to do it manually:
Right click on a document in Windows Explorer and then select Open with and then click on the Choose default program and browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 and then located and click on the WINWORD.EXE item and set that as the default application to be used.

Windows 10 crashed while updating OS because the power went out. The drive will no longer boot up.

I have connected the problem hard drive to another PC's USB port so I can see my files. I am now able to view all of the files.

I will be formatting the problem hard drive, installing Windows 7, then upgrading back to Windows 10. I have my Windows 7 CD but have misplaced the Product Key Code. I would also like to find the Product Key Code for Windows 7, now upgraded to Windows 10 that's NOT Working.

after latest updates are pushed on systems office 2010 is gone . it is affecting office 2010.
the windows in question is windows 7 enterprise and office is pro plus.

we are in a domain environment . updates are pushed through wsus server.

the symptoms are that when launching outlook we get some mapi32 dll not found error.
also in start menu word.excel are not visible.. infact non of office applications are visible under office menu in start menu.

looking in the instalation directory (program files x86 etc) in office folder we do not have winword or excel exe files there as well.

repairing existing office 2010 installation doesnt works

the only solution is to remove office 2010 and install office 2013.

Please help in finding the cause/solution of this issue.

I got a new computer in 2010 and, as I thought, got rid of all the pre-installed stuff. I then purchased and installed the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 suite.
After doing that I discovered that Microsoft Office 2007 had been pre-installed (I presume a trial version) and it seemed that there was no way I could uninstall it. I don't know if the install of the 2010 Office Suite affected it in some way.
Anyway now I am getting Windows updates for both Office Suites. Do I need to install both or can I just hide the updates for the 2007 Suite and ignore them.
Thanks for any help or advice regarding this matter

A:Updates for Microsoft Office Suites 2007/2010

Hello RagTag and welcome to Seven Forums.

This Microsoft KB article may help you uninstall Office 2007.

How to uninstall or remove Microsoft Office 2007 suites

If you're still unable to remove 2007 I'd suggest you not ignore any updates. Many of them are security related. As long as it's on your machine I think it would be wise to keep 2007 from being accessed by malware.

This morning around 3 am windows update instaled various office updates.  The publisher file i was working on will not work, i open it and then it crashes.  So i tried to do a restore to previous to get rid of those updates and see what happens and i get the error that the restone did not complete.  Now if i open a previous file publisher works.  So i am puzzled what has happened? Why i cannot restore and how to fix publisher. I have a SSD i don't know if that means anything with restoring.  Did anyone else have issues with this lastest batch of updates?

A:Office 2010 Publisher crashes after installing various updates

We're seeing the same thing here at work. Publisher 2010 crashes shortly after opening an exisitng file. If I create a new file from a blank, it seems to be stable. System Restore fails also, so we can't go back, at least on the machine this was first noticed on yesterday. The application event logs show ntdll.dll as the crashing program, but there could be another cause. That file was changed in the latest updates from a Sept timestamp to and Oct one. As a real estate company, our office admins use Publisher a lot for flyers, etc., so this has to get fixed very soon.

in 2003 there was a question, that question was 'Update this instance of your meeting update only?' Simply, and worked. In 2010, it's gone. How do I update the text of my meeting without my delegates all getting the update.

Why, because it's helpfull to add notes, becuase it used to be there, becuase 2010 makes things better - not!

Sorry if this has been covered, search came up blank.

A:Office 2010 Meeting updates can't save just my instance only

Hello Andy -

I don't have the exact answer you would like BUT there may be a work-around.

Open your time slot appointment that was sent to others.
Click on the Appointment tab.
Click on Copy to My Calendar. This adds a second instance of the appointment; open it and edit as desired.
Click the Private (lock) icon.
Click Save & Close.

This should work but PLEASE TRY IT / TEST IT with a couple associates to make sure they don't receive your "copy" appointment.

Also, disregard the time conflict warning.

Hey there,

Just a bit of background: I recently upgraded my fianc?e's fathers compaq laptop from Vista to Windows 7 Professional with the student upgrade package offer. In doing I chose a custom install and the old files are still stored on the computer.

The problem came when I attempted to install Office Academic 2010 back onto the laptop. This version of Office was another purchase using student deals so the product key could be used on 2 different computers (my fienc?es laptop and her dads laptop). The laptop previously had the same version of Office before the upgrade to windows 7. However, now windows 7 is loaded, when I try to install Office 2010 it claims that the Office key is incorrect and refuses to accept it and install.

I'm usually ok with sorting these kinds of things out but i'm pretty stumped as to where to go with this and the Microsoft Office site is...shall we say less than helpful.

Thanks for any help!

P.S If this is already in another thread i'm happy to accept a re-direction, but I couldn't find anything of this nature.
