Q: Lenovo Yoga 11 bootup issues after power jack repl...

Hi, This is my first post, Please let me know if this is correct forum. My Lenovo 11 Yoga recently had an issue with its power jack where the inner rectangular part came loose. I ordered a replacement power jack connector E54926 and was able to remove laptop cover and attach the replacement. Now, when powered - I can see a very faint "LENOVO" logo and nothing afterwards. So, I am unsure where the problem could reside. I tried increasing the brightness which didn't help. Could you please suggest how to troubleshoot further. Let me know and I can fill additional details. Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does the USB Type-C AC power adapter jack of the Lenovo Yoga 910 allow data transfer, like some USB hubs allow (for example, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y3YMZLZ/?tag=aboutcom02lifewire2-20)?

Just a heads-up: I bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 Ideapad in 2013, so it's out of warranty. Proceed to read my problem..... I always get a black screen whenever I shut off my laptop and turn it back on again, which is why I lock my laptop instead. But when I DO lock it and get back on it the next morning, I encounter the Black screen of death and instead of my lockscreen immediately appearing like normal after I lock it and have left it overnight & try to get on it, I have to shut down my laptop and turn it back on because my laptop won't immedately take me to the lock screen so I can log into my computer.  Today (March 17, 2017), I had to shut down and turn on my laptop while pressing the rotation button button or the OneKey Recovery button (the button with a circle and a line going through it; I don't know exactly what it's called, but I think it's the recovery button OR the screen rotation button, on the right hand side of the computer: If anyone knows the name of this button, please let me know!)..I tried this 5 times and It wouldn't turn on. The 6th time pressing the Recovery button OR the screen rotation button on the right side of the laptop (whatever it's called), it did work and now I'm on my laptop typing like normal. But this Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13 only works when it wants to. Is there any proven fix to this hardware issue? I was told that it was a motherboad issue, but what's the real culprit? And is the motherboard what's actually giving me th... Read more

Hi, My son's Yoga 700-14 2-in1 has developed an unreliable power connection - the USB connector has to be positioned at a very precise angle for the battery to charge.   (For some reason, it's worst when the battery is <20% charged and becomes more tolerant when the battery is fuller - seems wierd but pretty sure it's not my imagination.) Both the cable and the male connector for the supply seem to be in good condition.   There's nothing visibly wrong with the dc port inside the laptop (hard to see but in torch light all pins look intact and not bent), however, I suspect this might be the problem and needs replacing (perhaps a loose internal connection). Has anyone else encountered this problem or done this repair?  It looks easy enough based on photos of the internals - the wiring isn't buried under any other components. Is there a quicker fix that I'm missing?  I guess I'll check some voltages with a meter and that there are no loose connections before ordering a new part. Thanks Stuart

The power jack in my yoga 13 is broken. The central yellow plastic piece is missing and the pins were touching. Does this mean I'll have also shorted the motherboard? Can I test for that? Peace, kowalski

A:Yoga 13 broken power jack

If it's in any kind of warranty, send it in.

Otherwise, if you're comfortable working on a computer, the replacement part seems to be readily available and inexpensive. I'd start with replacing the jack and THEN seeing if it'll boot.

A silicon bead got struck inside the audio jack of my brand new Yoga 720 15.6" laptop. I tried every method to get it out but situation is worsening. I also run a hardware dignosis on lenovo website and it shows failed result for audio controller, may be because while trying to get the bead out I might have pulled a metal wire or something. Does anyone have a soltution to the problem. How much will it cost me to get it repaired at lenovo service centre since they are not disclosing the price till they do the dignosis of the laptop. Also to replace the audio jack, do they replace the entire motherboard for yoga laptops?  I have also attached the image of the port. Any help or solution will be appriciated

Sorry, but on that model, the audio connector is part of the motherboard.  It is soldered and not plugged into anything.  If the jack is broken the fix would be a motherboard replacement.

Hi guys.. On my Yoga 730, when i play any audio file, it plays instantly on normal speakers, but when i plug in a headphone to jack, when i play an audio file, it starts to play but, no sound on headphoe for a few seconds, then it comes... On headphone, starting of songs, in a few seconds, sound is not available, but after a few seconds, it will be able to hear. ?t seems as like it can't buffer. 1-2 seconds silence, then it will starts. I tried everything. Update my bios, chipset, windows, finally i reset complete pc. But no solution. On normal speakers play, and sencronized i hear, but on headphone, after a few seconds.  It seems about sound card driver, but it's better, updated, latest driver of realtek. And i have an external usb sound device. It works good. When i plug-in it to usb port, sounds come, good, instantle, no delay, completly senkronized... Please help me.

4 year old laptop wasn't charging properly, it was being very fussy about the exact position of the power cable in the socket. It has what looks like a pretty common power connector for lenovo, which is a USB sized hole with a single centre pin. I looked into the laptop socket and saw that as well as the conductor for the centre pin and the outer sides, there was also 4 little tines on each side between the centre and the edge which were clearly all bent off in wrong directions (looked like an old toothbrush inside) I'm guessing the centre pin is +ve, the tines are -ve and the outer connections are just mechanical/shielding. I straightened these all out with a pencil but I think I must have momentarily shorted something as now the laptop shows absolutely no signs of life when I hit the power button. Tried various tricks I've read online about various sequencies of hitting the power button with the battery in and out but no luck. The laptop was fully charged before I started this, but I didn't disconnect the battery before starting which I probably should have. So I'm guessing I've shorted the power rails on that connector. What damage have I likely done? I'm amazed that there can be a design where very flimsy pins inside an external connector which are clearly easily bent can cause such damage if they touch another pin 2mm away from them. Is there any way to save this laptop? If it's a case of replacing an SMD fuse soldered onto the motherboard I can do th... Read more

Hi folks,  As common as I happen to see issues like this according to Google, I felt they weren't coming off as clear to pertain to my individual situation and would start my own thread. I've owned a Lenovo Y50-70 for nearly three years now and have had no major issues with the laptop, until last week when the DC jack broke after it being loose for months. I replaced the jack last week, but after disassembling and putting back together the Y50 with the new harness it still would not charge my nearly dead battery. I believed this could be the result of receiving the part from a third party source and not Lenovo themselves. A lot of other similar discussions have given solutions such as it being a bad cable, or a blown fuse, or even a bad motherboard. The second and third possibilities have got me a little concerned and refuse to believe that's the case. But I also think it could be my charger too? When I tested my wall charger with a multimeter I was able to get good readings on the wall to brick end, but with the slim tip end I couldn't get a reading with everything else plugged in, thus couldn't get a solid reading on the new cable, and on the motherboard port where it meets the DC harness (The computer was off at the time). Replacement charger isn't out of the question for me. I would appreciate additional solutions soon, since I'll need this computer ready to go when I return to school next week *gulp*. Thanks for... Read more

I need information about wiring of the power jack in Lenovo Y50. I mean wiring at the plug which is plugged into the motherboard from the power jack. Please refer to the attached photo. There are 5 wires (counting from left): 1 - blue, 2 - black, 3 - black, 4 - red, 5 - red. I need the following information:1. What is the function of each wire (ground, power supply etc.) and required voltage on each wire once AC adapter is on?2. Are 2 black wires (wires 2 and 3) internally connected? I checked with multimeter and among all pairs of all 5 wires, only those 2 wires are shorted? Is it correct?

Hi!I accidentally broke my notebook's power jack (2 of 5 wires broke off from their pins). The number of the part I need is DC30100KQ00, but at the moment I hardly find any (ebay's shipping can take up to 2 months, and I don't have that much time). My question is what are the differences between these parts? I mean I've seen many of these with the same looking connectors I need, but they're related to other models. Otherwise, can I cause any trouble if I try to replace it with a part from a different model (e.g. G500)? Thanks,Mozes

Earlier this week I stood up while holding my Y540.  The power brick, which is quite heavy, fell off the desk and ripped the power cord out of the DC-IN power jack.  The plastic clips that hold the power cord in place were destroyed, and now I can't get a stable power connection anymore. I'd like to replace the DC-IN power jack on the motherboard.  The problem is I can't seem to find the part anywhere.  Lenovo won't sell it to me (it's an FRU only part) and I can't find anywhere online that sells an 81Q4 power jack. Does anyone know if there are other compatible DC power jacks I could use for my Y540?  I'm quite comfortable replacing parts on a system board, I only need to find the appropriate part.   Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi!I recently got my hands on my friend's old laptop that hadn't been used for a year. The problem with the G510 was the power jack. It was pushed back and repaired multiple times by professionals but still didn't completely work.I thought that if i bring the power jack outside the laptop it would work. But it doesn't. I plug in the charger and nothing, no led lights no fan no sound. The same charger worked on another computer. So i removed the power jack and i saw no external problem with it. I don't have a multimeter. Next i thought the power jack doesnt really cost much, but then again, the shipping costs would be overwhelming and i can't afford it at the moment.I also tried turning it on with only one memory card, done the 30second thing, charging without battery in case the problem was there but still nothing. The silence is killing me.Could there be any way to charge the battery outside the laptop? Or do you have any other ideas i could try?

Hi everyone; this is my first post here. I purchased a T450 (Core i7/Nvidia Graphics/SSD) last September here in Korea and upgraded to Windows 10 shortly thereafter. For the last few months (not exactly sure when it started, but I think months after I upgraded) I've had 2 system problems that may be related. #1: In my Windows power settings the computer is set to NEVER sleep when the computer is plugged in, yet sometimes (and I'm never sure when) it goes to sleep after only one minute of inactivity.  I thought maybe it happened only when the battery was charging, but this is not the case.  Resetting seems to fix the problem. #2: When I attempt to open Lenovo Power Manager 8 the application crashes and can't open.  I need to use the task manager to end the program. Has anyone else had these problems?  I'd really appreciate some help on this. Regards,Chris

Lenovo Yoga 3 11 - model 80J8:  out of warrantyI have done several searches and it seems there is a fairly common problem with some Yoga machines and audio.  All of a sudden a few months ago, the internal speakers went silent.  I did not notice it because I don't use it much for streaming audio, but when I do, I connect it to external speakers.  Audio to an external source functions fine, but internal speakers are silent.  Control panel and Device Manager show speakers functioning properly.I have read previous postings back to 2015 and it seems there is no real Lenovo reply or fix for this problem.  I have already tried to update the Realtek driver and that had no effect.  I am not willing to restore to factory default, since this machine shipped with Windows 8 and I upgraded to Windows 10 a few years ago.  The audio worked fine after the Windows 10 upgrade.  Respectfully, please only respond if you have factual data, rather than speculation.  This problem is well documented in the forums and elsewhere, but I have yet to find something concrete.I thought it may help to add a thread on the subject, as I expect others with the problem are frustrated, especially since there does not seem to be a formal response from Lenovo (that I can find)..  Thank you in advance!

Opened up the case housing the motherboard to get at the power to see if I could jimmy it a little bit because I couldn't turn it on. A while ago I accidentally bumped the 1yr old notebook in its case against the desk and since then was having difficulty turn it on needing a little more effort since the time I bought it. About a 3 weeks ago it wouldn't turn on no matter how hard I tried. When I posted a question on how to deal with the first answer was to open the casing to see if I could get at the button easier. I did that, after getting the smallest phillips screwdriver but wasn't able to get the button to work. It is somehow loose and not connecting. I also noticed that unscrewing the housing unit holding the motherboard might make it easier but I have not expertise in this and I don't want to mess things up. I wonder if anyone could get a help with this ,maybe a schematic showing me the parts of the housing unit so that I can unscrew it safely and not messing everything up or any other solution - short of taking it to a specialist. Any help very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I purchased Lenovo Yoga 900 Ideapad and I am currently using it in India. The power adapter seems to have gone bad and I wasn't able to charge the laptop with the given adapter.  Since the laptop is under warranty, I contacted the warranty help line only to know that I need to take the laptop to the service center. At a service center, no one really knew how the USB 3.0 charging port works and couldn't check whether the cable was short or the adapter had gone bad. Anyhow, they decided to replace it under warranty but again, they weren't sure when and if the replacement would arrive (as it depends on the inventory levels with Lenovo India).  An exclusive Lenovo shop then offered me an original Lenovo power adapter with USB 3.0 charging at USD 70 but only when it got delivered, I see that it is 40W and not 65W like the original one I had.  65W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter (one which connects the laptop) is orange. The wall adapter doesn't heat up while laptop is charging.40W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter is yellow. The wall adapter heats up quite a lot while the laptop is charging.  The Lenovo store representative has assured me that this is the right adapter but somehow I am not convinced.  Can the community throw some light on this:- Is it safe to use a 40W adapter for a 65W specification?- Is there any way I can get the adapter replaced by Lenovo US (I can ship the faulty adapter to US)?- I... This is my first time posting; i was wondering if anyone would help me with my problem. I have a lenovo 3 2in1 14inch yoga series laptop and i have been very pleased with it up until now. Recently I have not been able to power it on with the power button. I think about 6 months ago, while in it's case I accidently bumped the side of it onto a desk, and every since it became increasingly more difficult to turn it on - I've had to apply more and more pressure to turn the  system on. I also noticed it had been more indented and pliable than originally but I gave no importance to it since I could still turn it on. This brings me to about a week ago when I could no longer to turn it on at all no matter how hard i tried. I wonder, short of short of getting another computer and since I have an an expired warranty, if I can find an easier solution to this problem. All possible solutions appreciated. Thank you!

I have recently started having issues with my laptop powering up. I found that when the battery is disconnected that it will power up when I plug it in. (It automatically turns on when I plug it in that way). If I then shut the computer down and try to turn it back on with the power button..it doesn't work. Basically the light on the motherboard near the button turns on and then turns back off and the laptop stays off. Overall the issue appears to be stemming from the power button on the motherboard. It will not power the laptop on when using the battery or when the battery is removed and the laptop is plugged into an outlet. Any ideas here? I'm trying to avoid a motherboard replacement as they are not cheap.

Hi,So its difficult for me to pin down the problem here but I know that its not my Wi-Fi as i've had this issue at college and at various homes, cafes. I'll be browsing the internet when suddenly my thinkpad will disconnnect from the internet. Note, usually it will say that it is connected to the router but it isn't getting any connection. I will use another device at the same time that experiences no issues. When using Skype I lose calls frequently. It's dissapointing considering I dropped 1 grand on this laptop only to use my 100 dollar smartphone in many situations. Thoughts?

Hi jreder007 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

To start with I would suggest you try to check on the wifi adapter properties .

On Device manager , choose the wifi card and right click for Properties , Power management to uncheck on Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power .
Advance tab would also show Roaming tendency / aggressiveness that you can move to highest.
See if that would would , else you may proceed with uninstall and reinstallling your WIFI driver downloadable from the support site .
Update us how it works for you .

Hi,My latest issue with Yoga 720 15" GTX, i7, 16gb that I can't resolve is the lost network adapter. As I was playing with photoshop blue screen popped out with some barcode and by the time I get to take a picture and the laptop shut down.I downloaded network drivers from the website, and tried them both because I didn't know which one si for my laptop, and then tried system restore, but it still didn't fix the problem. When I ran Lenovo's system diagnostics it states all the hardware is fine. Here is why I will never gonna buy LENOVO again.First with my purchase last Friday i tried to apply Gropon coupon for discount, but nothing happened, so I paid the full price. Then I expected it to be shipped on Saturday, but they shipped it on Monday.Once I received it I found the pen is not working properly and even when I try to use heavy hand sometimes it just does not work.Sometimes touchpad scroll does not work.Another think is that the screen flicker with mozilla, and with chrome is even worst and it is showing black screen sometimes.I did all the updates, I haven't changed any settings and this is it! Good think I have another HP Lapotop to keep me working.  All that happend in about two days since I have it, I don't really know what to expect next if I don't get to return it.

Would not power on when pressing power button.  When I tried the "novo" button, it does goes through System Recovery menu and I can do a normal startup.2. Today I disconnected the battery.  I plugged the power cable in and was able to successfully use the power button to start up.  Upon shut down, the power button does not work again unless I unplug power cable, then re-plug it in, then power button will work (just once, then have to repeat steps above).3.  If the battery is plugged in, the power button does not work in either battery only mode (battery shows good charge) or when the battery and power cable are connected (hitting 'novo" button - System Recovery menu comes up and I am able to go through Normal StartUp option again, on recovery menu). Not sure what is going on here or how to resolve.

I have removed the battery from the inside and plugged it in again and I still have no results. I have found somewhere that I should try removing the CMOS battery but my specific model does not have one, or at least I am not aware of one. It could also just be a connection. The model type is 80QD. If someone can help me with this issue or help me find the CMOS battery/connection that would be great. Thanks!

When I first bought my Yoga 910, I also bought a USB-C j5 Create hub that has one USB-C, two USB-3, HDMI and Ethernet. I was able to plug this hub into the second USB-C port on my laptop (the one for video, not power) and use it without any external power. I was able to use the hub to play video on a TV via the HDMI adapter. However, after an update at some point, that changed. Now if I don't supply power to the hub, it is not even recognized by my laptop and attached devices (including the TV) do not work. Also, the power USB-C port doesn't support data of any kind, meaning it is only good for plugging my power adapter into. I thought at one time I could use it as a USB hub. Is there a setting to change how these ports operate? The USB-C port should supply enough power to the hub to operate "normal" devices like a phone or a memory card adapter. I should not need external power to operate it.

Hello, I have a yoga 920 that when I put it into sleep mode the battery drains from 100% to 5% overnight.  I've looked through forums and tried to find solutions but this one appears to be resistant to previous solution or I am implementing the solutions poorly.  I tried deleting and reinstalling the Intel Management Engine Interface but still faced the same behavior.  I altered the power plan so that in sleep mode I disabled the Turn on Fast Start up.  I also changed what happens when I close the lid from sleep to hibernate and the battery stopped draining overnight.  While hibernating works it doesn't solve the sleep power drain problem.  I ran a sleep study and found that the camera was draining the battery as a USB deviceI disabled the USB always on and I don't have any other devices connected to the laptop.   Are there any other methods for disabling features during sleep that might be draining power? Thanks

A:lenovo yoga 900 power button is not working!!!!!!!

Is it possible that the display is not working? Can you plug in an external monitor to check to see whether the Yoga 900 is running, even though the laptop screen is blank?
