I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So for a while the physical click on my mouse pad has been sticky, and wouldn't give the physical sensation that it clicked. Because the actual physical device didn't click that well, I started using the tap to click feature. Just today the mousepad, even just the tap to click, is much less responsive. I can no longer hold and drag items on the desktop, or highlight via the trackpad, whether I physically press down, or tap and hold. Another issue I'm having is that I cannot secondary/right click at ALL, physically, or even if I tap at the bottom right of the screen. I use the Yoga 900 for school work  and taking notes (I'm in grad school) and I would be very inconvenienced by having to send this out for repair. I take really good care of the laptop, though I have had some other hardware issues (ex. the headphone jack needs the 3.5mm plug in it a very particular angle, and also 3 out of 8 the little decorations on the hinges have come off also). When I plugged an external mouse in, I was able to right click without any difficulty. I won't be able to use an external mouse when using it regularly, however. Please help me guys! I can't deal with not having a secondary click on this.

I've had my lenovo notebook for about 8 months now but recently I've noticed some problems with the mousepad. When I first got it, the mousepad worked well without any issues, but now, I need to press the left and right button a little harder than I used to just to get it to click. There are a few instances wherein a simple click does it, but most of the time, I need to press the pad with a lot more pressure than normal.  Is my mousepad broken? Or is this an issue with a driver ?  Any insight in this situation is much appreciated. Thank you very much!

For the past couple of months, the mousepad has been really glitchy. It is almost impossible to use now. The cursor keeps freezing and only hitting enter or the fn +f6 key helps is unfreeze temporarily (as in for a couple of minutes). Apart from that, any webpage or file I open, the screen automatically goes to the bottom of it. This is obviously connected to the mouse pad issue somehow. I tried reinstalling the drivers from the Lenovo website and it didn't help. I checked the hardware using the Synaptics Pointing Device Pressure Graph and Moodmap. Everything seems to be working well. This makes me believe it's a software issue. Please help me fix this.

I've had my y50-70 for about three weeks now and in the past week or so, I've had issues with the touch/mousepad. I'll be using it and suddenly it just stops. The mouse won't move and won't click, despite trying. Sometimes it takes a few minutes before the mouse finally starts working and usually continues for a while. Usually it stutters before stopping altogether. I've downloaded the updated driver, changed the mouse setting, etc and nothing has worked. It continues to stop working.  model: lenovo y50-70 touchOS: windows 8.1

Hi, I got a Lenovo Ideapad 110 for Christmas, and the zoom option on the mouse/touchpad is driving me insane. I have gone to mouse properties, and I do not see an option to stop this. I want to disable pinch zoom! Is that not possible?!  Another note: Less than a week after this computer was bought for me, the actual buttons on the mousepad stopped working. I could not right-click. I took it back to the place i bought it since it's under warranty, and the man had to plug in a USB mouse and reset the entire mouse properties, but the problem of zooming is still there. He told me as far as using a mouse on these computers, people usually use a USB mouse when possible. He said the touchpads are far too sensitive and he's had to troubleshoot this type of problem with buttons not working, the touchpad not working, etc. Just a note, if any advice/experience, please LMK!

Hi, I've just joined, and I just got my new Lenovo Thinkpad computer. It's all been great, I can now get brilliant graphics on my game, but one thing has been bugging me.When I play my game, I move my mouse to target something, but my mouse icon doesn't move. I am using the mousepad here. It's not laggy, but it just doesn't move. I have to lightly hit my laptop to get it running again. My dad says everthings fine, but I know it's not. I've check everywhere for answers but I've found none. But I've got a second problem. I'm just targeting the beasts, but then an icon comes up by my mouse icon. It looks like some circles inside another circle, or just a blue vortex. This zooms my game in and out and it really bugs me.Can anyone please help? P.S Forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong area, I'm new here.

A:Mousepad not working

The touchpad locks out for a second immediately after any keypresses by default. You'll have to change the PalmCheck setting to disable this behavior. As for the zooming, you might be triggering the scrolling mechanisms. Try disabling those or reducing their zone sizes too. Both of these options can be found in Mouse > UltraNav > Touchpad settings.

Try going through the settings to see if something was changed or disabled, here's how to navigate throught the settings:Troubleshooting the TouchPad Something there might work, or it could be a driver problem. I'd try the above first, then if that fails, uninstall and reinstall the driver.

I had my laptop repaired a while back for a cracked screen and a missing key, and since then it's practically useless. When I left-click, my computer reads it as a right-click, and when I right-click, it doesn't read it as anything at all.
The computer boots and asks me if I want to start windows normally every time, and random things will pop up saying files are missing or corrupt. I'm not sure if they took the laptop apart and put it back together incorrectly, or if they actually messed with the software. They were not supposed to alter anything other than hardware so I don't know.

I don't know enough about this to understand what's happening, so I hoped maybe someone would recognize the issue I'm having. It's an HP Pavilion g series running windows Vista.

I tried switching the mouse buttons in control panel, but half the time it won't even let me click on it and the half the time it does but nothing changes. Sometimes when I boot the mousepad doesn't recognize anything I do and I have to navigate with the keyboard. I also tried going into regedit and changing the swapmousebuttons from 0 to 1 and nothing seemed to happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if the laptop has some sort of malware on it as I've had it since like 2011 and never use virus protection etc.

It's not a good computer and it's painfully slow so I'm not looking to use it as my main computer, but it'd be nice to actually be able t... Read more

Hi! First off, I am new to the HP community (as of this post), so please correct me if I do something wrong here. My good-ol' veteran laptop, my HP Compaq Presario CQ62, has had some problems with the mouse buttons recently. They're not disabled in any way, and were working fine a couple weeks ago. They don't work most of the time but every now and then the right click works, but rarely. I've tried everything - any help here? I'm having to tap the mousepad, which I really hate. Feels like I'm tapping on a rock. It runs Windows 10, 64-bit and is still super fast and has really been through the wringer, but still perfect. So what should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Last week the mouse pad decided to stop working, went out and bought a new usb wireless mouse to get by with. Looking at the device manager, everything looks OK and says it working normal, also says it has the most current drivers.

Any ideas how to get the pad back up and running.

Hi Chris,

The machine should still be under warranty; return it for another. Trust me, the last thing you want to do is pull a laptop apart... you need 8 arms to get it back together.

I have a touchscreen Toshiba Satellite NB10T-A-101 , the touch screen works fine however i mostly use the mousepad as i find using the cursor much easier,

However recently my cursor kept freezing for a second or two and then moving again, but today the mouse pad doesn't seem to be working at all the left and right click buttons work but not the touch pad.

I've made sure that the touch pad is enabled in the mouse settings so i really don't know what to do now.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

A:Satellite NB10T-A-101 - Mousepad is not working

Hi

Hmm?did you check also the key combination FN+F5?
This would enable and disable the touchpad as well.

But from my point of view it might be possible that the touchpad module malfunctions.
I?m thinking about the hardware malfunction because the touchpad buttons work and just the touch area of the touch module doesn?t work properly.

Usually if the touchpad would be disabled by any software, both; buttons as well as the touch area should not work.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE41Z and am running Windows Vista Home Premium v.6.0. Lately when I turn my laptop on, the built-in keyboard and mousepad just don't work at all, and I have to use my USB mouse and the onscreen keyboard to enter my password and get past the login screen.

I ran a system restore and this seemed to fix the problem. But when I turned my laptop off and then on again the next day, the problem reappeared. I ran another system restore, the problem was fixed for the session that ran after the system restore, but after that it reappeared. I have just run a system restore and the mousepad and keyboard are working fine, but I suspect when I turn the computer off and then on again they'll stop working.

I think it may be a virus, but McAfee doesn't seem to be finding anything. I'm not really sure where to go with this problem now, so any suggestions would be very much appreciated...

Did you make any changes to your computer prior to this happening? Any recent Windows updates, new USB devices etc?

------------------------------------------

1.) Check your BIOS, look around the different categories available to change the settings. Your BIOS may be set to "detect USB in Windows (or similar wording)", which may cause problems with logging in, if that option is available. If it is, change to "USB detect in BIOS. If not.....

2.) Run your computer in "Safe Mode", and see if the problem still occurs. If the problem doesn't occur in safe mode, it could be malware related, or Windows/driver/etc related.

Scanning for malware is a good idea. McAfee is not good in my opinion; try Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware. Download them, install them, update them before scanning. Then scan your computer for threats using these programs separately (they should not be run at the same time). Both are free programs.

Remove/clean/delete any threats found. If the problem still persists let's try other options.

Hi guys,

My girlfriend booted up her laptop this morning and the mousepad was not responding, it does not move or click. She has disabled and enabled it, as it was already enabled and it was working fine last night (as she was at mine with it). She also booted in safe mode and the mousepad was still not working. There appears to be no software in the add or remove programs list in relation to a mouse and she does not have a temporary external USB mouse.

I have researched and it mentioned removing drivers and rebooting, but that was when it was working in safe mode, however, her mousepad does not work in safe mode or normal.

Does anyone have any ideas on what other troubleshooting we could do?

Many thanks!

Hi,
I am using SONY VAIO VPCEA23EN model, with windows 7 Home Basic. 64 bit machine.
Till yesterday there was no problem with my machine, all of a sudden my mouse pad stopped working ( i am using SYNAPTIC pointing devise-default driver from sony)
I did some research and found out that when i use internet with the Ethernet cable, the mouse dosent work and when i use the wireless connectivity the mouse works just fine.

I also tried updating the driver software from synaptic 14 to synaptic 15.2.7, then also i faced the same problem ( with Ethernet cable connected, mouse dosent work).

I have updated all the drivers from sony also.

Please help me this and thanks in advance.

Does the mousepad work when you are totally disconnected from the internet i.e. neither ethernet nor wireless? Also, try reinstalling or changing the ethernet driver and look for updates on the card manufacture's website, not on Sony.

I reinstalled Vista seemingly without issue, but then realised my mousepad scroll function wasn't working.

I've checked all the settings for the mouse (although couldn't find anything about "mouse pad" settings) and couldn't find anything about scrolling.
I got windows to check the driver for updates and it is apparently up to date and "working properly".

Can someone tell me how I can get this working please?

Thanks.

A:mousepad scroll not working after Vista reinstall

Most likely you have to visit the PC Manufacturer's support website and get the driver package that they offer (for your touchpad).

I'd also check your Device Manager to see if any drivers are missing/not functioning (go to Start, type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter).

Both my mousepad and trackpoint have suddently stopped working. Keyboard works fine though. I have tried booting from a Debian live CD and the problem persists. I have checked that they are both enabled in BIOS. I have checked the keyboard connection and mousepad connection and both seem fine. I am not sure what the problem could be since if it was a hardware problem then surely the keyboard would also be having problems given that they share the same connection? Any ideas? I have been having problems for some weeks now but the mouse would usually start working again after reinstalling psmouse with modprobe, but that won't work anymore.

I have recently performed a Windows 10 64 CLEAN installation on my HP Stream Notebook 11-d007na, with no HP software installed. Needless to say, I had many missing driver issues all of which I have solved apart from one. The MousePad did not work during any of the setup process. I managed to get a USB mouse, get on to the HP website and download the MousePad driver for my laptop, which seemed to work fine. It installed and I was able to use the mouse. I soon realised however that two finger scrolling was not working and when I go to the Mouse Properties, there is no Synaptics tab to enable the selection for that feature. I went to the Synaptics website and tried to install the driver directly from there, but that installation keeps failing. So my question is, how do I get the Synaptics tab back on Mouse Properties so that I can enable 2 finger scrolling? Thanks in advance.

Plus if you run this HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download - close the right hand window and in the left hand window you will see all of the hardware listed and if the pad is not there then something is very wrong.

If it is and if you click on it and open it out you can see the absolute details of the brand speeds etc etc to the Nth degree see my pic. In that you will see I have opened up my RAM for an example you will probably have to click on and open up, and in the other pic you need to see if it has the pad under ACPI devices.

Hi, I just purchased my Lenovo N22-20 Chromebook from Amazon. However, I am having problems getting into Recovery Mode using the instructions published here https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1080595?hl=en-GB&source=genius-rts. I tried this sequence with the chromebook off and it does nothing. I tried the sequence before and after logging in too.  I also tried esc + refresh on it's own as some posts suggested just those two keys. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a different set of keystrokes that need to be used with a Lenovo N22-20? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there, I have a couple N22 Chromebook devices where it says that the Camera is not detected and to check the connection.  I have tried power washing, resetting settings and also looked at the connection and it seems to be connected.  I know I sent a couple in last year for this same issue, but now they are of warranty, so I am wondering if anyone else can help me out with this.  Thanks in advance.

I?ve had this chrome book and charger for 2 years now and I used it a few days ago but just took it out to realize it was dead. I went to go charge it and when I pluged it in, the light didn?t flash. Not thinking, I left it in to ?charge.? When I and back, I tried to turn it on and when I hold the power button down on the side, the light repeatedly flashes quickly. I?ve tried many different outlets, but the chromebook won?t charge. I don?t know what?s wrong...any help?
