X1 Yoga 1st gen screen replacement

Q: X1 Yoga 1st gen screen replacement

Old, sad song, broke my screen 3 weeks after the APP expired. Has anyone actually done a replacement that can provide feedback? I'm a bit daunted by how easily the glass cracked, and worried about cracking the new one trying to install it. Really overwhelmed with what parts to get, can't even tell which of the 2 FHD screens I have. Document lists 2:00JT856 14", FHD, non-glare, TP, TPK+LGD00JT857 14", FHD, non-glare, TP, LBO+AUD Don't even know what that last bit means, to know which I have... It doesn't appear I can order for Lenovo. I see some on eBay, one says it includes bezel, and I was shocked to think the others don't! Suggestions, help? Anyone else done this? -Michele

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It only has one port for the diplay cable and a black plastic extension (circled in red) for the microphone pcb.  Many of the screens  advertised to replace it look like picture (2). These are not compatible with my laptop becuase mine does not have an extra digitizer board or the two ribbon cables that attach to it.     Two options that I am considering are screen (3) and (4). (3 ) is (2) but rewired to be compatible with my laptop. (4)  does not have the two ribbon cable but is missing a bezel extension (circled in red) where the microphone pcb board is usually attached. I would like to purchase (4)  but I am concerned about the missing bezel extension. (3 ) rewired with exra ribbon cable and digitizer(4) has display port but is missing bezel extensionAny reply is appreciated.

Hi gang.

I picked up a 11.6" 710-11ISK and it had a screen with some issues.  I picked up a replacement on ebay but it didn't fit.  The original screen has the Windows logo on the very center bottom, the new one did not.  The original screen (exterior shell, LCD, hinges -- entire assemnbly I'm talking about here) is about 1/2" shorter than the replacement.  At the bottom bezel of the original screen, where the two screws are that hold the screen together, the little rubber grommets that sit over those screws, were black.  On the replacement screen assembly, they were grey (as was the bezel).

I'm wondering if there were a couple of versions (generations?) of the 11.6" 710, and if anyone can help me identify exactly what I have?  Mine has 8GB RAM, soldered onboard the motherboard.  There are still a bunch of replacement screens on Ebay, but, having seen one that doesn't fit, they all look to be of that particular model.

Any ideas would be wonderful.

Thanks.

Hi! I unfortunately cracked my yoga 900's screen. I managed to disable the touch screen so it is still somewhat usable but i'll need to replace the screen before October. Are there still available screens? What is the process for initiating the repair? I live in Halifax and the local Staples is listed as a service support partner. I'm out of warrenty but willing to pay for the repair and avoid buying a new laptop. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon! Cheers, Dave HG Moderator note: serial number removed to prevent abuse.

Hi all, I'm looking to replace the screen on my X1 yoga. I have a FHD screen and the service manual only shows two FHD screens:  FRU 00JT856 N 14",FHD,non-glare,TP,TPK+LGD FRU 00JT857 N 14",FHD,non-glare,TP,LBO+AU  Does anyone know if FRU 00UR189 is also FHD and compatable? It looks like it could be a alternative / replacment part number for FRU 00JT857. Also could anyone confirm if the FRU 00UR189 comes complete with outer frame and the bottom pcb?  Thanks.

So Yoga 260 seemed to be the best match (for its maneuvrability and integrated stylus)... to the point I saw the exact screen specifications... which are to be perfectly honest, pretty disappointing when it comes to refresh rate and Gamma/Adobe RGB range coverage. So i simply want to customize the hell of my future Yoga260 future acquisition, but I have 2 questions:Can any 12.5i multi-touch display do the trick, or must I get something compatible in any way.If I must get something compatible, which Full HD screen with better RGB ranges so i can do a better job ? Howdy,I am using a Yoga 3 14 for school and the screen has broken. It is still funtional (I am in fact posting this from it). The only problem is the glass infront of the screen has broken, which i believe is only there for the touchscreen (I assume), so i was wandering if there was anyway to replace only the glass instead of the entire screen, as there are no marks on the display, and it functions 100% correctly. It is not a problem to the performance, although there is concern that leaving it could cause damage to the screen itself aswell.Thankyou,                  Nienoenf

Hello everyone and thanks so much for your time. (Hope Im doing this right) I have the yoga 3 pro two in one tablet and have enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately it was dropped and the screen was broken so I took it upon myself (which might have been bad) to buy a new screen and replace it myself. I used step by step instructions but after I finished and tried powering it on nothing happened. Do I need to reset something or should it just turn on? The mother board was removed along with quite a few other things... /: please help. Not sure if I should rip into it again or hire a professional. AT THE LEAST I need to retrieve photos and videos of my daughter. Thank you for your time.

I have the YOGA 90013ISK (the original one), I need to replace a cracked screen.  Can I replace it with the new screen from the 920 Vibes (UK name) https://www3.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/yoga/900-series/Yoga-920-Vibes/p/88YG9000860 If so, where can I get one? If not, what do I need to replace the cracked glass?  Do I need to replace the whole unit, or just the glass? Thanks

A:Replacement cracked Yoga 900 screen

The thing you call the glass is the static discharge digitizer.  There is a matrix of VERY fine wires running through it.  It cannot be replaced separately. (bonded with adhesive and connected via a non-reusable connection tape) Lenovo replaces the entire lid unit as an assembly.  You can replace the entire screen assembly as a unit (keeping the lid and hinges) as a unit, but it is difficult to get the camera and microphone moved without breaking anything and it is difficult to get the lid mounted so that it closes flat.  I have never tried, but I think the 920 will not fit.

My touchscreen cracked- but I bought a $200 insurence policy from Staples, which is where I purchase my computer (and I will NEVER do that again and I don't recommend it). The policy covered accidental damages, such as a cracked screen, but after jumping through hoop after hoop to file a claim, Staples called me saying that they won't fix it becuase it's too expensive, even though I bought insurence. They offered a refund for my computer, but I refused because I adore my Yoga.      I'm really hoping someone can point me in the direction of a third party repairer, or even somewhere where I can buy a replacement touchscreen and have someone like Geek Squad install it. Any suggestions?

Get the refund for the computer and buy yourself another yoga. I would even request for the old machine back, make a OKR image. Then nuck reformat the hdd and give it back to staples for a full refund. Once done, restore the new yoga with the image you made.

I recently purchased an X1Y3. It had an issue with the touch screen often registering that it was touched in a specific spot when the laptop was moved or screen tilt changed even though the screen wasn't actually touched. These forums suggested it was a hardware problem. I ordered a replacement instead of repair because the notebook is so new. I haven't tested the replacement much yet but one thing I've already noticed is the screen is signifanctly yellower than the "older" one when both are side by side. It may be that the "older" one is too blue, so I'd need a way to test both out somehow. But I'm almost certain it's that the "newer" one is yellowish rather than the other being too blue. Any fixes? Windows Night Light is off in both. Both are set to the same color temperature and profile in Lenovo Vantage.

I'm usually a pretty careful person but in my one rare clumsy moment, I managed to drop my Yoga 900 on the floor from maybe a height of less than a metre.  The screen is cracked starting from the top right hand corner and has a hairline fracture all the way to the bottom left corner. It still works, as in I can still see things on the screen, but I keep getting jumpy cursors and whatnot (expected of a cracked touch-enabled screen). So my question is: What am I suppose to do? I've called Lenovo Support and I've chatted with an Encompass technician, and although they were very nice, it didn't help because there doesn't seem to be a replacement screen available for purchase/repairs. I've only had this laptop for 5 months and it seems ludicrous to buy a new one already...... Edit: This is for the Yoga 900-13ISK.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Using Machine Type Model 20FD002DUS the parts lookup page here, shows
Part number 01AX903 LCD BZL w/ Camera (LCD assemblies)

Substitute parts also listed for your Yoga 260 Laptop (ThinkPad) - Type 20FDYou can use your serial number here to confirm the LCD that came with your machine.

Lenovo quickpick here would also show recommended accessories including carrying cases.

Hello,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 900-13ISK 80MK. The screen broke so I decided to order a new one. The model of the screen I had is LTN133YL05. The model of the replacement screen I ordered is LTN133YL01. For some back story: the laptop worked before, but for some reason if I tapped on the laptop at a certain place it would turn off. A manual restart would be required. I replaced the screen myself, and turned it on. The screen turned on as expected but did not have touch screen capabilites. After a minute or so, the laptop powered off and will not turn back on. I did some testing and found that .128V is going to power when charger is plugged in.

Because of the two issues I am having, I am not sure what the root of everything is. I have a few different thoughts and would like any assistance.

1) First of all, is the replacement screen that I ordered compatible with my laptop? I tried Lenovo and Best Buy chat and neither could confirm details.
2) If the screen isn't compatible, would powering on the laptop with the new screen cause for permanent damage?
3) Could the motherboard be bad? If so, maybe just ordering a new one would fix all the issues including the screen?

I understand this is a bit of an odd scenario and I would be more than happy to provide more details if it would help! Thank you in advance

Does anyone know the specifications for the BOE screen that Lenovo is using to replace the original screen that had the backlight diffuser problem? I've heard that the BOE has PWM.  But is it at a high frequency, and not noticeable? And how about the color accuracy of the BOE? Is it as accurate as the original? And also, what about the black levels and contrast? Are they the same as well? And do all the BOE screens have backlight bleed problems?

Hi there, hopefully someone can help me. Back when my laptop was still under warranty, I complained to Lenovo about the many scratches I was getting on my screen from using their pen. I don't press hard when I draw, and I even bought replacement nibs just in case there was something sharp on the one I was using. Alas, nothing helped. This didn't happen on the last tablet Thinkpad (X61) I had! At the time, I couldn't afford to send my laptop in to get it repaired. I was in the middle of a VERY busy college year. But now, the scratches are so numerous, it's really affecting my ability to work on it. Is there a way to just... replace the matte finish? Looks like it's like a screen protector to me. Is that something I can purchase on my own, or would I nee to take my laptop to a repair place to get it put on correctly? I tried to see if I could take the thing off myself, but I can't even get my fingernail under a corner. I HOPE it's a screen protector of sorts, because there's no way I can afford replacing the entire screen.

I need to upgrade the 128 GB ssd in my Yoga 3 14 to a 256 ssd or hybrid drive.  This drive is very thin - only 5mm - and I cannot find a 256 GB replacement drive for it even though Lenovo sells a Yoga 3 14 with a 256 GB drive.   Where/how can I obtain this 256 GB drive?  Lenovo parts and retail sales website and phone support is woefully unhelpful - multiple calls with no call returns or referrals to other extentions where the person just referred me to another extension.

A:Yoga 3 14 ssd replacement

I have found a good solution to my problem of replacing the small 128 GB ssd on my Yoga 3 14.  The answer is a 500 GB hybrid drive from Seagate - ST500LX012.  This drive is only 5mm high, installs perfectly and fairly easily into the Yoga 3 14 in the mounting space for the hard drive.  Because it's a hybrid drive, it's fast - boots nearly as fast as the SSD that it replaces and generally seems nearly as quick as the SDD, for way less money.  The space allowed for the drive in this Yoga is only 5mm high and I found that a 7mm or thicker drive will not work in this machine if you want to actually lock it securely in place with the existing brackets.  Finding this drive was not easy, as Seagate won't sell it directly and the normal online retailers don't carry it, at least not yet, though they certainly should.  I found the drive finally at www.harddrivesforsale.  Again, Lenova support/sales was no help at all in finding a larger capacity replacement drive and was very disappointing.

I've been getting the dreaded blue screen of death with the memory management error for a while now and knowing the RAM is soldered on I figured there was nothing I could do about it, shutting the computer off once a day seemed to help but if I'm using it for a full day then it crashes. Today I had a new one which was the BSoD and the pfn_list_corrupt error so I ran the memory diagnostic and it came back with a hardware problem with the memory, now I suspected that this was the issue with the memory management errors but now this seems to confirm it. So what are my options, just put up with it? It seems there's no real fix but aside from the annoyance of crashes and restarts which for now I can just about live with, is this going to ultimately kill my yoga or not? This along with the wifi problem (thankfully switching that out fixed it) pretty much means this will be the last lenovo product in this household. If I can get another year out of it then I won't feel quite as bad about buying it....BTW is the Pro short for problematic?

A:RAM replacement or fix for a Yoga 2 Pro?

Hi, No one should have to put up with a computer that is not working correctly. If your computer is in warranty do activate it.If not, and assuming the cause is a bad memory chip, you could explore a really invase alternative that is to replace the memory chips. This will requisite advanced eletronics knowledg, a BGA soldering station and new chips. AS you can guess this will not be easy and should be done by a professional. Or you could ask Lenovo for a repair quote. If everything else fails, new computer  Are your shure it's a hardware memory problem? Have you tried restoring to a factory image? Tried playing around with drivers?

My X1 Yoga 2017 is extremely loud under load. I've tried deactivating as many programs and services as I can, but the fan is pretty loud regardless This is probably more of a design issue with the laptop rather than an actual defective part.  I'm wondering if anyone has tried TIM replacement on the Yogas and whether if that might help the situation much at all? It wouldn't be covered under lenovo warranty as they're not replacing a defective part, so wondering if its worth the money to do...

It's a well known issue that the fan of the 710 is very loud. What really annoys me is the high pitched hiss it makes, so I was wondering if there are better fans to replace the old ones.

I have the Yoga 2.13 Thinkpad.  It's about 4 years old now.  The fan seems to be going as it screeches loudly upon bootup.  It screeches longer as time goes by.  I can't even find a reference to this part.  Is there an original replacement fan available or a compatible replacement fan? Thanks, Bob

A:Yoga 2.13 fan dying - need replacement

Hello and welcome,

Seems to be in the parts list toward the end of the HMM:

Looks like it's a 90205128 (please check me on that) and The Google lists several possible sources - although availability seems spotty.
