Unable to complete System BackUp, Error Code 0x80070570

Q: Unable to complete System BackUp, Error Code 0x80070570

For the last few days, the system BackUp on my external hard drive is getting failed with error code 0x80070570 after completing nearly 95%. The backup consists of system images and other folders that windows automatically choose. Even when trying to run backup without the system images, the backup fails. As per my findings, the 'AppData folder' in additional locations is creating the problem as removing it from backup settings does solve the problem. But this problem didn't exist a few days ago and while letting windows choose what to backup, brings back the problem. How to fix it?

Preferred Solution: Unable to complete System BackUp, Error Code 0x80070570

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Had many attempts at backup - all failed. Explanation offered by Windows 7 is that there is insufficient disc space available although there is 700MB on internal drive and 1TB on external HD I have also tried.
Can anyone please help?

A:'did not complete backup' error code 0x81000019.

If you have sufficient hard disk space, run CCleaner or Disk Cleanup Utility, Volume Shadow Copy may not work properly if available space on any drive is less than 40% - I think. So use Disk Management to change disk size if you feel.

I am new to this forum and hope you may be able to help me with a problem with Windows 8 Pro backup.

As you would be aware this is called "Windows 7 File Recovery".

I have been using W8 Pro for about five months and running the backup utility for about four months with no major issues. I have used it to create a system image and scheduled to back up my data files weekly.

For the past two weeks I have been getting an error message "error code 0x80780049" along with a message that my files did not backup.

My backup is via esata to an external drive and as mentioned above this was working fine (I even tried a restore of a couple of files to prove it) but now it will not complete the backup. I even deleted the entire backup and started again from scratch but backup fails at about 50% completion. I have checked with windows defender and no viruses exist.

Any help would be appreciated otherwise I may revert to a W8 refresh but this will mean reloading my programs.

You sound very knowlegable but I just have to ask these stupid questions:

Do you have adequate room on your external drive or could it be running low?
Has you RAM usage increased recently because of some newly introduced programs?
Is your pagefile set to auto-adjust or has it been manually configured?

When attempting to backup a system image and/or selected libraries or files on an OEM installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, I am receiving an error message. The initial pop-up states:
The Last Backup Did Not Complete Successfully
When I click on the pop-up to check the backup and select ?More Details,? I see the following message. The System cannot find the file specified
Error Code: 0x80070002
No additional information is provided. (And no clue is provided regarding what ?file? is not found.)

While I am attempting to backup to an external hard drive connected via eSATA, this error also occurs when I attempt a backup to either an external USB drive or a DVD.

I have attempted to run various backup scenarios wherein [a] Windows selects what to backup, [b] I choose a system image only, [c] I choose libraries only, or [d] I choose a very small data directory in a directory outside of the libraries. The error is always the same. When the system image is included, the backup does run for a time before the error message occurs ? and a significant amount of data is written to the drive. When I run a file-only backup, the error is almost instantaneous.

So far, in attempting to resolve the problem I have taken the following steps (although not necessarily in this order):

A:Unable to install win 7 (code 0x80070570)

Try another flash stick or DVD using the ISO and tool to burn to disk/stick in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will assure you get and keep a perfect install. Since Acer Recovery will not run after a Clean Reinstall to C, delete all partitions during the booted install.

If this fails work through these steps for Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums reporting back any failure by when it happened and any error or other behavior.

If these fail test your hard drive using the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by another Disk Check run from installer's Command Line on the full disk partition you created.

Hey,in my view, this kind of problem is probably caused by the culprits as follows: 1.memory installation issue : try to check the installed memory situation on you motherboard and fix it if it has come adrift. 2.driver confilt : update some unsuitable driver to the latest version.

Sometimes things happen that are just out of your control.

Hope someone can help me with this issue.

I am trying to install Windows 8 64 Bit on a HP 2530p laptop using a USB Flash Drive that I set up with DiskPart and copied OS files to - from DVD disc.
I first tried to install using a DVD disc in a external DVD RW I plugged into USB port of laptop - this laptop has no built-in optical drive.
I got the same error code with DVD disc that I get with USB Flash drive.
I formatted HD during beginning of install so there is no OS on laptop...

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570.

I ran a MemTest86 and did a HD Test from BIOS and both passed.

Any thoughts?

Thank you all

I would rebuild your USB install drive, you might have ended up with some corrupted files. Was this computer shipped with Win 8? if not then you'll need to set up your USB to boot UEFI, IE is has to be formatted fat 32, then on boot up hit which ever key on your computer that brings up a boot menu select you UEFI USB drive

I'm new guys so bear with me.

Just built a new rig, specs are in my bio but long story short I'm trying to install w7 fresh onto a sshd from a usb. When it gets to 15% during expanding windows files it gives me the error code 0x80070570. so here's what I've done: ensured sata settings are set to ahci, used different ram in different slots on mobo, format hd in cmd with diskpart, made sure ram settings good in uefi, redownloaded Iso file and reran program to make usb drive bootable. Currently I'm using the clean all command in disk part and then going to try and partition the drive. Should I be partitioning for the ssd? Is there something else I'm missing with the hybrid drive? I've been working at this for about 2 days and could use some help. Thanks in advance

I am trying to install Windows 7 32-bit RC on a desktop PC. I have previously used this disk successfully to install the OS on a laptop.

I keep getting an error message to the effect thatWindows cannot install required files.
Error code: 0x80070570Initially I thought that this was due to a flaky DVD drive but I have now installed a different drive and am still getting the same message. I also tried a SATA DVD drive but it seems that the Windows 7 installation process didn't like (have drivers for) this interface

edit:I have previosuly managed to load Windows 7 64-bit RC on this PC but had some problems with stability so thought I would give the 32-bit version a go.

I notice that some people have got around this problem by burning the DVD at slow speeds and by using a USB drive to boot from; since I have successfully installed using this DVD, the former doesn't seem relevant and I don't have an 8GB USB drive available. I will try running MemTest86+ on the system on the off-chance.Any explanations / other suggestions . . . please . . . ?

ps - I have just downloaded a new copy of Windows 7 32-bit RC, burned it at 1x and have got the same unhelpful error message

Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
Note: Please perform a complete system backup first. If any unexpected issue occurs, we can quickly restore the system to the current status.
1.     Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

Hi tim perkins and welcome,

Here is a thread on the technet forum, don't want to send you away somewhere else but try the suggestions the thread discusses. And please do not post your email in the open forum.

I have a suite of Windows 7 workstations on which I now cannot do a system image backup, although I used to be able to when I first installed them. The backup target is the D: drive of one of a pair of 2008 R2 Foundation servers (either one). Once I've selected the target server and drive from the "Select a Network Location" dialogue, and entered appropriate credentials there, back on the "Where do you want to save the backup?" dialogue, when I click the "Next" button, I just get a message box "An error has occurred: The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057). Close Windows Backup and try again". Needless to say, that doesn't help.

I've come across many threads on this and other forums with similar problems, but none of the suggestions I found (like setting the locale to use '.' as the decimal place, increasing the virtual memory to a preposterous size, or running CHKDSK) have helped.

I know malware is not the problem since these workstations and the servers are on a closed network with no external connections at all, and all removable media are disabled.

HW: Dell Precision T3500
HDD: RAID 1 mirrored array of Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA II
NWIF: Intel PRO/1000 PT link aggregated dual 1 Gbaud NIC

A:Windows System Image Backup Fails to Start (error code 0x80070057)

OK, folks, riddle me this if you can:

I fixed this problem as a by-product of fixing another one, apparently unrelated, which was that I couldn't access the workstation's DVD drive - I just kept getting the dreaded "Access is denied" mantra. In my searching, I came across a suggestion to uninstall the drive and reinstall it. Seems kinda extreme, but it would certainly initialise its security settings.

Well I did it, and sure enough I now have full access to the drive, but then when I opened the Backup toolbox to create a new system repair disk, I found the backup to my system servers is now working, along with correctly identifying the DVD drive and an external USB HDD I have connected as usable backup devices (which it didn't before).

It makes about as much sense to me as getting your TV to work by turning the kitchen tap on, but there you go - that's Windows for you.

I have been getting the error 0x80070570 when i try to delete corrupted data files about 75 on the c drive. Chkdsk runs but does not fix or delete the bad files. I tried the Microsoft startup repair but the bad files are still bad and not removed. I had seen some posts that alluded to fixing this problem but nothing has worked for me. The damaged files are data (JPG,CSV etc) located in a data folder not my documents folder. Try as i may nothing I have seen can get rid of these files. This problem causes CHKDSK to be called by Vista on almost all boots.

This problem started when my c Raptor dive got servo errors and failed WD's short disk diagnostic test with a statement about a servo problem. The drive was RMA'd back to WD after i moved my boot drive via Acronic clone to my D drive which was then made my c drive in the bios.

Can someone please help me.

I bought my HP Pavillion dm4 about a month ago and until recently, it had been working great and really fast while on the internet. Then lately, it started to load normal pages at half its speed, taking time to even load google. When playing MMOs like World of Warcraft, I was a lot laggier than i normally am, dropping framerates by 30-40 per second, even though my task manager said nothing else was running in the background. I thought something was wrong and my suspicions were correct after i found my WoW account to be hacked. I managed to recover my account and change the user/pass but my computer was still slow so i suspected that it was a virus. I uninstalled Norton Antivirus because it couldnt pick up on anything and got Sunbelt Vipre to try and solve the issue. Unfortunately, Vipre didn't pick up on anything either. I wanted to try to System Restore to remove any sort of keylogger or virus that was causing my computer to be so slow and hack my accounts. But when I tried to do the restore, picking the nearest restore point, it was stuck at "Initializing System Restore..." for nearly 3 hours. I had to hard reset the computer and try again at a different restore point, but I got the error message, "System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's systems files settings were not changed. The file or directory is corrupted and undreadable (0x80070570)." Then after clicking Run System Restore it gives me the error message "There wa... Read more

Hi. I am trying to perform a full PC Backup on Vista Service Pack 2.  I have a recently purchased Seagate Backup Plus 2TB drive which has 1.6TB free space.  When I do the normal 'Backup Files' option it backs up onto this drive no problem  When I then try to do a Complete PC Backup onto the same disk (size of backup estimted to be 67Gb), it bombs straight away, with the error message 'One of the backup files could not be created. (x08078002A)'. I have only performed a full backup once onto multiple DVDs which worked fine.  This backup however, is seriously out of date now. Could someone please assist? Thanks.

I have tried to do a system restore to a point previously in order to help with another problem, but get the message 'Can't system restore, file or directory is corrupted and unreadable (0x80070570).'

This applies to all restore points available. I have tried System Repair, but that found nothing.

Can anyone please advise what can be done?

Well, a shot in the dark. Have you tried doing the restore while in Safe Mode?

Another thing that may help is running sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt:

I am trying to rectify the error with windows update.
Everytime I try to update it tells me it is checking for updates...
Then "To check for updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update. Your automatic Updating settings will not change."
I click Install now and get "Window could not search for new updates"
An error occured while checking for new updates for your computer.
Error(s) Found
Code 80070643 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

This problem first came to light a year ago when I downloaded a windows update that was corrupt.
It forced the computer to loop the autocheck upon boot and could only be started in safe mode or by canelling the check.
After looking through the forums I found an interim fix which disabled the autocheck and since have always recieved the message upon restarting "Autocheck program not found".
I naturally thought this issue would be resovled in the next update and or a future fix.
I had to go away for work at the start of this year and when I got back and windows updated it still had the autocheck message.
Recently I have been unable to update at all due to the aforementioned error.
The simplest soultion it would seem would be to do a system restore, this I have tried however every possible point seems to have a corrupt file on it.
I ran a scan using Malwarebytes and found nothing.
I don't want to format as the programs came pre installed and that would mean taking to back to the shop.

Want to do a complete backup of my hard drive using NTBACKUP. In running NTBACKUP the only destinition drive available seems to be the Floppy. I have an external hard drive that I wish to have the backup copy put on. How can I make the external drive available as a destination?

A:Complete System Backup XP Pro

On the backup tab at the bottom left you should see the "backup media or file name" box. Browse to your external drive and give the file a name.

I have an HP system that keeps a portion of the one hard drive for system recovery. I just had to wipe the drive clean and start over because the registry was corrupted.

I am finally restoring everything - installing programs, etc...and would like to back it up in the event that something like this happens again. The HP restore simply cleans the slate...but everything needs to be re-installed (real pain in the arse).

Is there a way or any recommendation on how to protect ALL current installations and settings? Maybe taking a snapshot for the system and then loading it if hell breaks loose?

A:Complete Backup of System >> NEW-B

If you have another drive you can image it. You can use a utility such as Ghost or Copy Commander to image the disk. This will make a perfect working drive. If you have another problem you can pop in the other drive and be back to where you started.. Or you can pull the image from the backup drive to the screwed up drive and your good to go again.

I want to make a cd or dvd of my complete os with my isp's info intact and antivirus installed and other apps. Is this possible????

I'm tired of crashes, formatting, or other problems and want something to be able to start fresh and not worry. My Isp info is important because it usually takes them anywhere from half and hour up to 2 hours just to get me back online.

I've never made an iso before so please have patience with me. I'm not a stupid person, but I do have some health issues regarding brain tumours at this time. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanx in advance

A:Complete system backup help

The best way to get a copy of your OS and personal data is to make an image backup and store it on one or two different HDDs, just not on your OS HDD.
This will enable you to get an exact copy of your current OS and all installed programs and settings.
If you need to restore it, everything will be exactly as it was the day you made the backup.

It is a good idea to make an initial backup and save it in case of severe problems, then make a backup on a regular basis, once a week or once a month to save all of your personal data as well as any new installed programs. It will depend on your storage capacity.

The highly recommended and free Macrium Reflect.

There is a good tutorial on how to use this program:

This tutorial will explain how to use it and you can post any questions on that thread.

Hi there, I was just wondering; I have my system in a good state right now (after many problems), and was wondering what the best way to do a complete system backup was. I mean, copy the OS, all installed programs, and all files to my external HD (or to DVDs), so that if anything goes wrong, i can just go back to exactly how everything is now...

If I format my computer, would there be a way to just copy over an image file or something? Or would i have to format, re-install windows, then copy it over?

Many thanks

Hi everyone,

I want to use the Complete PC Backup Utility in Vista where you create an image of your system disk.

Now, this utility tells me i have 3 System disks my Raptor Hard drives in Raid 0 that i have two partitions one for windows and one for applications. This is fine i would love to back up these two drives. It also recognizes my Samsung hard drive which is 500GB that has all my personal stuff on it. I just want to back up my Windows Drive and my Applications Drive.

I think one reason windows recognizes my Samsung drive as a system drive is because it is the primary drive in my BIOS so the boot loader must have been written to it. I installed EasyBCD to see if i could move it the my Windows drive so it doesnt see my samsung as a system drive, but i havent been successful.

Is their a way to either change my boot loader to my Windows drive or to unselect my samsung drive in the PC Complete Backup utility?

I want to backup my Vista System drive (C which is about 48 Gigs to another HD which has 50 Gigs free. When I run the Complete PC Backup wizard, it not only sees drive C: as a system drive (therefore automatically checked and ghosted) but also another non-system drive (E: where I install most programs). I have no means to backup BOTH drives (due to space constraints). I only want C: backed up.

What can be causing Vista to see drive E: as a system drive and is there any way to remedy it without a reinstall/reformat?

Thanks in advance!
