I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

That's what I think they are called. The 3 grey blocks which should sit on the right of my screen, I think they are 'data block' 'cd block' and some other block. They have disappeared, and Sony helpdesk is ignoring me, can anyone tell me how to put them back. I have a vaio desktop with xp 2002. Thank you.

My daughter's computer got hijacked. I've used LavaSoft AdWare and hijackthis to locate and "attempt" to remove the junk. However, I have, or the unwanted software has, created a problem at this point that won't allow me to boot the machine. I get the following fatal message:

Invalid Page Fault in Module SORAPI.DLL at 167: 100178f4

I tried bringing the machine up in Safe Mode, but got the same error.

Before I decide to use her machine for a boat anchor, can someone help me get it running again?

I just moved from the US back to Europe and had recently put together a new PC.
3.6Ghz Intel Processor
Intel Motherboard
Antec Case and 380W power supply
etc, etc

Was very happy with my new system BUT admist all the unpacking and distractions I forgot to switch the voltage selector at the back of the power supply to 230, so needless to say when I powered up the system there was a load bang and a puff of smoke!!!

I figured the power supply was fried and so I tested a new one (leaving everything else the same) but after momentarily starting it too collapsed. So I changed the heatsink but again it briefly powered up and then stopped. What is the likehood that the Chip and/or the motherboard are toast????

Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA / Registry Fault

Many Thanks in advance??this is my first time I have had a PC problem.

MY PC is 18th mth old Dell Inspiron 530 running Windows Vista 4 x 1 GB RAM

The problem started when I was watching a video clip on Windows media player. The screen started breaking up on to horizontal coloured lines ( predomenantly Pink) and the PC froze.
I tried rebooting in safe mode however it wouldn?t allow, howevere managed to do Start up repair.

At first I was getting a blue screen Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA , however after reboot a number of times , including running CHKDSK and startup repair , the system eventually let me through to the windows log on screen. After logging ( the sreen you access programms from) the screens breaking up again on to horizontal coloured lines.

I have tried cleaning dust from inside case and removed and re inserted RAM

Tried repeating checks e.g. start up repair and receive the following :-

A:Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA / Registry Fault

the error means that your PC asked for a page of memory , and the page was not available. when the operation could not continue, it BSOD'd and shut down. Its usually happens as a result of a hardware that is misfiring or failing. The 'Page_Fault_in_Nonpaged_Area' and "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD's often show up consecutively and alternately. Things to try to correct or identify the problem are to restore your machine to the last know working configuration. if the problem keeps appearing run disk check for errors on your HDD. if that shows nothing, the next most likely suspect is a problem with the Ram. You can download any number of programs that will test your ram for errors. Win 7 has a built in memory test (not sure about the RC though) and you do not have to burn a disc to run it. Hope that helps some.

Okay this may be a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway.
When I got my computer built they partitioned the drive, so 'c' drive has 19.5 g and 'd' has 54.9g. My question is - is there a way to put the operating system on the bigger partition? If so how do I do it? If not is there a way to make the hard drive whole again?
Like I said it may be a stupid question but hopefully it is not
Thanks in advance

A:really silly but

I don't see the need for what you ask. The 19.5 is about 4 or more times the space necessary for the XP operating system. It is an intelligent idea to have the larger partition available to you for storage of files. And this is most handy in case there becomes a problem with the system partition, it allows the repair of the system without your loss of personal files stored on the D: partition. The system may already be set up to do backups to that D: drive. You do back up your files, don't you??

Ok fellow dudes and dudettes...

My darling little usb flash thingo decided that it will no longer work once plugged into my pc.

It works on every other pc i have plugged it into.. works like a charm even! but when it comes time to be plugged into my pc at home, windows will not detect it, nothing at all happens. i dont know what the problem is!

Also i plugged other USB devices into that port and guess what.. they work magnificently! sooo.... does anyone have an idea as to why my usb hates my pc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you me dears!

A:Silly little usb...

Open your control panel and click on "system", then click the "hardware" tab, then click "device manager".

Click on the + to the left of USB controllers to open the tree.
Do you see any red or yellow warnings for any of the USB controllers, root hubs or anywhere else?

If so, double click on the device and update the drivers.

Ok so I'm trying to make some modifications to windows, it requires me to reinstall windows completely about 10 times a day or so. I"M SICK OF IT... I really want to have my install media on an SSD, in a second partition. Is this possible(Please don't say "well don't modify windows" or whatever). I tried copying over the install media to a second partition, and it kinda works. However it seems to try to add a BCD entry to the installer partition instead of my second SSD. Heres the setup

Drive 0
F: (Must not be removed, has old Win install)
J: (Also must not be removed, contains a Remix OS install)

Drive 1
D: (The place I want to install windows into)
I: (Contains the installer files)

If need by I can move the installer files to the other disk in a new partition, just as long as it works.

I can build computers... but when it comes to networking... i'm meerly literate...

i've been told time and time again i can't get dsl from qwest (my home provider) they know there is some dsl in this area available.. but they arn't sure how far from me... (i often have to convince them that they are even my phone provider)

seeing as i just built a new system... i broke out an old dsl modem from a previous location i lived at to test my Ethernet port... but to my surprise... it actually sends bits of information... about 100 bits to be exact before it gives up on trying to get an ip address (because there is none to get lmao)

my silly question is this... does this tell me anything... if it's sending information... could dsl... even crummy dsl be possible here?

I have been experiencing vandalism at my house. Now that I finally caught neighborhood kids on the security camera, I need to submit JPEG still camera images, written logs, moving camera footage, digital photos of damage, etc. This is all saved on my desktop. So I figured it might make it easier for the police dept if I put all of this on a CD.

I was wondering if law enforcement could somehow use these CD images and files to see what personal stuff I have stored on my hard drive in the past. In other words, could the files and images I put on the the CD be used by them to snoop on my computer or even my past online surfing habits? I guess I am looking at the privacy thing here. I know it sounds like a silly question, but who knows what kind of technology is out there.

A:This might be a silly question, but.......

The short answer is no.

The long answer is also no. The only thing law enforcement has access to from the files you put on that CD are the files that you put there. Now, if for some reason you are using steganography to hide something suspicious in the files you are putting on that CD then yes they can eventually have access to this info. In order for law enforcement to have access to the files on your computer would be for them to present you with a warrant and investigate your computer's history. Remember hacking is illegal and just because you put some simple files on a CD does not mean you are giving them unquestioned access to your computer. You can relax. Whatever it is you do not want law enforcement to know about is perfectly safe as long as you are careful to only put on that CD what is needed to prove your case. Of course I do NOT condone any illegal acts however I do understand your privacy concerns.

Look at it this way. When you buy a piece of software and install it are you granted access to every program that company has ever written or do you just get what you pay for? Essentially you are asking the same question.

I have tried everything I know. I am trying to re-install a program that I have used for ever, after a melt down. I "reinstalled back to factory conditions" but now I have "programs" and programs x86 ? Every time I install the program "photoimpact 3 " I recieve and install all the other programs I recieved from corel..paint and video all work and install..but the original Photoimpact doesn't seem to be recognised by windows it keeps telling me it is not recognised ? I don't understand the differance between "programs" and "programs x 86" ? The other programs in the bundle are recognised by "programsx86" but I cant find photoimpact in the p86 files only in the programs file and thats when windows says not recognised? It's driving me crazy thanks.

A:[SOLVED] Silly me ?

Your system is running Windows 7 64 bit, the Programs folder is for 64 bit software, and the Programs X86 folder is for 32 bit software.

Is the Photo Impact compatible with Win7? and has it been installed on your system before you restored to factory settings?

If it is written for XP, you will need to run in compatibility mode. with the Photo Impact CD in the drive.
Open Windows Explorer > expand the Photo Impact CD > right click on the Set Up.exe and select Properties > under the Compatibility Tab select XP from the Compatibility Mode drop down box, then click OK.

When I have multiple pages running, it seems like they slow down quite a bit. I have 5 mps and it runs very slow. Is it true that the more tabs you open up, the more sluggish it gets?

A:Silly question but......

How much RAM have you got?

I have 2GB and often have about 50-100 tabs open without any kind of slowdown.

If you only have 512MB, the computer will be using the hard drive as virtual memory, which is much slower than RAM, but I wouldn't expect 5 tabs to be too taxing.

Does it speed up again if you clear the Firefox cache?

I have Office 2000 on another lap top and rather than buy a different version, which I do not like anyway, I wanted to install Office 2000 on the new computer. I have both disks and the origional purchase paperwork with the Key and PN#, but disc number one has gotten damaged. I thought it to be a surface scratch but it will not load completely, missing many of the cab abd dll files.

Short of contacting Microsoft and getting a replacement disk, I hate waiting, is there anyway to move the application from old computer to new?

I am expecting a not answer and contact Microsoft, but if anyone has any thoughts, I would be greatfull!!

I bought a surge protector for my computer. No 'instructions' came with it. Does the thing have to be 'on' to 'protect'?

Websites can leave a trail of where you have surfed in several locations on your computer including history, the temporary internet files (cookies) folder, and the temp folder. Are there any other places that might leave a trace of your surfing history? Also, do internet access providers have any way of tracking and storing this information since all the information is passing through their servers? thanks in advance..... ugw

A:just a silly question

Hi undergroundwire,
Welcome, Programs that you download with ad banners can track you. cookies are a great tracking device. When you sign up on your ISP depending on what info you give can also track your habits. But that goes back to cookies. I trash my cookies every time I leave the net.

This isn't really serious, just irritating as all get out. After cleaning my system of several viruses and trojans I decided to d/l IE6. I use a web-based email program for some Paid-To-Read email programs and sometimes they send multiple links in one email. Before, when I clicked on a link it would open in the same browser window, I would view the site and hit the Back button and the cursor and page would still be on the link I had just clicked. I could then go straight to the next one. Now, however, when I hit the Back button it goes back to the top of the page, making it very hard to keep track of what link I last clicked.

I know I can right click to open in a new window thus keeping the original window in the proper position but its just a PITA to do it that way.

Does anyone know of a setting that will solve this? I know its petty and silly but its bugging me!

A:IE6 silly problem

See if this setting fixes it....Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced Tab
Under the Browsing section...."reuse window for launching shortcuts"

Good morning internet friends,
I know this may be a silly question, but I'm going to ask anyway.
I have Magicjack, and it leaves me messages in the form of .wav files in emails. These are then downloaded. They go directly to Windows7 download folder. Because this same folder gets all .tmp files, and plenty of other 'debris,' it fills quickly. So I made a folder to place all the .wav files in. Now, how do I get W7 to send the .wavs to this folder and not just the download folder????

A:Maybe a silly question...

Depends on the email cliet you use. I use Thunderbird and I can save attachments to anywhere I want.

It is not really a silly question since it comes up many times.
There are many places, and the most you mentioned that windows stores information also (recent). There is also methods of retrieving information that most would believe is deleted from the hard drive. There is also methods of tracking your activity through your ISP. Not to sound to Big Brotherish you should never do illegal activities and not expect Big Brother to find a way to find out if there was a need to.
Just my two Cents.
