I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

That's what I think they are called. The 3 grey blocks which should sit on the right of my screen, I think they are 'data block' 'cd block' and some other block. They have disappeared, and Sony helpdesk is ignoring me, can anyone tell me how to put them back. I have a vaio desktop with xp 2002. Thank you.

My daughter's computer got hijacked. I've used LavaSoft AdWare and hijackthis to locate and "attempt" to remove the junk. However, I have, or the unwanted software has, created a problem at this point that won't allow me to boot the machine. I get the following fatal message:

Invalid Page Fault in Module SORAPI.DLL at 167: 100178f4

I tried bringing the machine up in Safe Mode, but got the same error.

Before I decide to use her machine for a boat anchor, can someone help me get it running again?

I just moved from the US back to Europe and had recently put together a new PC.
3.6Ghz Intel Processor
Intel Motherboard
Antec Case and 380W power supply
etc, etc

Was very happy with my new system BUT admist all the unpacking and distractions I forgot to switch the voltage selector at the back of the power supply to 230, so needless to say when I powered up the system there was a load bang and a puff of smoke!!!

I figured the power supply was fried and so I tested a new one (leaving everything else the same) but after momentarily starting it too collapsed. So I changed the heatsink but again it briefly powered up and then stopped. What is the likehood that the Chip and/or the motherboard are toast????

Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA / Registry Fault

Many Thanks in advance??this is my first time I have had a PC problem.

MY PC is 18th mth old Dell Inspiron 530 running Windows Vista 4 x 1 GB RAM

The problem started when I was watching a video clip on Windows media player. The screen started breaking up on to horizontal coloured lines ( predomenantly Pink) and the PC froze.
I tried rebooting in safe mode however it wouldn?t allow, howevere managed to do Start up repair.

At first I was getting a blue screen Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA , however after reboot a number of times , including running CHKDSK and startup repair , the system eventually let me through to the windows log on screen. After logging ( the sreen you access programms from) the screens breaking up again on to horizontal coloured lines.

I have tried cleaning dust from inside case and removed and re inserted RAM

Tried repeating checks e.g. start up repair and receive the following :-

A:Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA / Registry Fault

the error means that your PC asked for a page of memory , and the page was not available. when the operation could not continue, it BSOD'd and shut down. Its usually happens as a result of a hardware that is misfiring or failing. The 'Page_Fault_in_Nonpaged_Area' and "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD's often show up consecutively and alternately. Things to try to correct or identify the problem are to restore your machine to the last know working configuration. if the problem keeps appearing run disk check for errors on your HDD. if that shows nothing, the next most likely suspect is a problem with the Ram. You can download any number of programs that will test your ram for errors. Win 7 has a built in memory test (not sure about the RC though) and you do not have to burn a disc to run it. Hope that helps some.

Okay this may be a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway.
When I got my computer built they partitioned the drive, so 'c' drive has 19.5 g and 'd' has 54.9g. My question is - is there a way to put the operating system on the bigger partition? If so how do I do it? If not is there a way to make the hard drive whole again?
Like I said it may be a stupid question but hopefully it is not
Thanks in advance

A:really silly but

I don't see the need for what you ask. The 19.5 is about 4 or more times the space necessary for the XP operating system. It is an intelligent idea to have the larger partition available to you for storage of files. And this is most handy in case there becomes a problem with the system partition, it allows the repair of the system without your loss of personal files stored on the D: partition. The system may already be set up to do backups to that D: drive. You do back up your files, don't you??

My darling little usb flash thingo decided that it will no longer work once plugged into my pc.

It works on every other pc i have plugged it into.. works like a charm even! but when it comes time to be plugged into my pc at home, windows will not detect it, nothing at all happens. i dont know what the problem is!

Also i plugged other USB devices into that port and guess what.. they work magnificently! sooo.... does anyone have an idea as to why my usb hates my pc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you me dears!

A:Silly little usb...

Open your control panel and click on "system", then click the "hardware" tab, then click "device manager".

Click on the + to the left of USB controllers to open the tree.
Do you see any red or yellow warnings for any of the USB controllers, root hubs or anywhere else?

If so, double click on the device and update the drivers.

Ok so I'm trying to make some modifications to windows, it requires me to reinstall windows completely about 10 times a day or so. I"M SICK OF IT... I really want to have my install media on an SSD, in a second partition. Is this possible(Please don't say "well don't modify windows" or whatever). I tried copying over the install media to a second partition, and it kinda works. However it seems to try to add a BCD entry to the installer partition instead of my second SSD. Heres the setup

Drive 0
F: (Must not be removed, has old Win install)
J: (Also must not be removed, contains a Remix OS install)

Drive 1
D: (The place I want to install windows into)
I: (Contains the installer files)

If need by I can move the installer files to the other disk in a new partition, just as long as it works.

Sorry this could be a silly Question. My neighbour asked me to take a look at her laptop it turned out her hard drive was failing.we got it fixed.Next day her sons computer had the same problem. They share a external drive. My question and as i said it might be a silly question but could there be a virus out there attacking hard drives? Thanks for the help

A:Silly question

Not a silly question and yes, they could be sharing a virus. But a virus would not cause physical problems to a hd (in other words, it would not cause the hd to "die"). So MY silly question in return is: how did you diagnose the hd as dead?

When I have multiple pages running, it seems like they slow down quite a bit. I have 5 mps and it runs very slow. Is it true that the more tabs you open up, the more sluggish it gets?

A:Silly question but......

How much RAM have you got?

I have 2GB and often have about 50-100 tabs open without any kind of slowdown.

If you only have 512MB, the computer will be using the hard drive as virtual memory, which is much slower than RAM, but I wouldn't expect 5 tabs to be too taxing.

Does it speed up again if you clear the Firefox cache?

I have a wireless mouse and keyboard by Logitech - the receiver is connected to the mouse input and a USB input on the back of the computer.

Have just installed another operating system on another drive, so on startup it gives me 2 choices - which operating system to choose...

Keyboard does not work in this instance - is there a way around it, or do I have to substitute it all for a non wireless non usb mouse and kb ?

A:How silly is a USB keyboard ?

On my computer there is a selection for enabling USB keyboard support in the BIOS . Should be instructions on what key to hit to get into the bios when you first start the computer, on mine I think it's delete. I guess you would have to substitute it at least once if your BIOS has that.

Well after much searching on the web, I was eventually led here. It appears that I have the same awful problem that so many others have experianced. taskmgr.exe and regedit.exe don't stay open for more than a second at max.
All I really know for sure is that there is supposed to be some kind of file (either *.exe or *.scr) in the Windows/System32 folder that is causing a process to run which is killing these programs. None of the solutions I have run across seem to pertain to my computer, so I leave it to the brilliant and kind people at this site to help me with this problem.

I have a reasonably new laptop (Toshiba A10 Satellite) that was running Win XP Home, but I wanted to change it to Win98, I have no FDD on the laptop, and I was seemingly unable to create a bootable CD, using the recovery CDs to boot the system and load CD-ROM drivers, I was able to quit the recovery program leaving me with a DOS interface. Using another CD with various dos programs, I was now able to delete the current partition (It was NTFS and I needed FAT32), so on restarting I expected to do the same, boot from the recover CD, then format the new partition, then install Win98. But instead I get the brief Toshiba screen at the start followed by "Missing Operating Sytem", with no way to get around it. How can I solve this, or have I screwed up so bad that I will have to contact Toshiba. Surely there must be a way to access a BIOS interface on this system. I really need this fixed ASAP so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

***-Sorry guys, turns out the silly thing I did was to ask such a stupid question, now that I've figured out how to get into my own BIOS Settings (I've always used DEL, gotta get used to CTRL+ALT+ESC) everythings sorted. Please Delete this thread.***

There are plenty of spam filters you can use on common e-mail programs, so unless this is some free e-mail thing from some website you could run one of them (spam filters). They aren't perfect, but they will help out a lot.
I don't knwo what I'm going to do here when my school cuts my e-mail off and I use another address as my main one, because UMR has some server side filter that will flag spam and then I just set up a rule in outlook 2k3 to send it to spam, and most of the time it doesn't even do that new mail notification, so I check the spam folder about once a day and delete whats inside.

this forum was great for getting my last problem with itunes fixed so i thought i'd return!

what's happened is i have an external hard drive...
and it's been on my computer as E: drive ever since i got it...
and now suddenly its listed as F: drive.
all my music was stored on it.
and now every single song on itunes has the (!) symbol next to it and i cant play it.
i'd rather not relocate them individually as i have 1809 items on itunes.
and for all i know it could suddenly change back to E: as it should be.

does anyone know whats happened and how i can fix it?

would be much appreciated!

A:Silly itunes again... what to do!?

Download CWShredder and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit.

Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on you... Read more

Hello the Support Team,

I'm running WinXP, and have lots of Softwares installed. Well, I now am out of space in my ' All Programs' menu and can't see the last 10 softs installed. Is there a way to expand the limited 4 columns (as default) so that I can view all my programs?

Thank you,

How about creating a folder on the Desktop called shortcuts, and move you most (or least) used links from the start menu to there?

When I bring up my sys. it flashes up Win XP screen, then For a few seconds flashes up the picture of the old house in the woods, then the standard desktop with blue screen.

I have slected no theme or desktop coustomize that I can see. and I can not found that dumdum picture anywhere, even in document pictures.

How in the world do I get this thing back to whee it belongs.

God Bless and have a great blessed Day

I'm not sure I have understood what your problem is, so bear with me, just to clarify things a little, are you saying that if you right click on your desktop (in a space between the icons) and select 'Properties>Desktop' and then change the picture in the listings, that it doesn't get rid of this?

I have installed AVG Anti spyware on my computer and now the trial period has ended.Does anyone know if I uninstall it and start from scratch again can I use it for another period. I don't want to sound tight! but I pay for Norton & Spysweeper and I don't want to throw money around on just keepin my computer virus free. Thanks Guys

A:Silly Question (or is it!)

No, you cannot do that but you can keep it the way it is. After the trial period is over, it becomes freeware with a few less features (such as no real-time protection) but it's still a very good on-demand scanner that you can and should use regularly.
