Internet Explorer Problems & Google Chrome Problems

Q: Internet Explorer Problems & Google Chrome Problems

I am using internet explorer 8 and would prefer not to update. I am using the latest version of google chrome.

Google Chrome Problem 1
The following message appears when I open google chrome. It only gives me the option to click okay. When I do, it appears once more. Once again the only option is to click okay. After that, everything with google chrome works as it should from what I've experienced so far.

Google Chrome
You profile could not be opened correctly.
Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its contents.

Internet Explorer Problem 1
I get the following error message when I open internet explorer.

Internet Explorer Search Provider Default
A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider, Bing (Bing).
Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers.

Internet Explorer Problem 2
Internet explorer will not let me download any files.
When I attempt to download any kind of file I get the following error message:

Windows Internet Explorer
Unable to download x.z from x.z.com
Unable to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

Internet Explorer Problem 3

I am also having trouble viewing the message board on this web site. It only loads partially and then says on the bottom:
Done, but with errors on page.
I have this similiar problem before I installed flash. Once I installed flash it worked properly until now.

To note:
I have windows firewall turned off and Zonealarm firewall installed. When I exit or turn off zonealarm, I still have the same problems. I have tried deleting all temp internet files through internet explorer as well as deleting the index.dat file with a reboot to no avail.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Welcome to the forums, for chrome use the wrench and select Help then search,:- type in "corrupt profile" this is returned

Create a new browser user profile - Google Chrome Help

For IE I would go to tools, internet options and under "advanced" select "reset".

Hi everybody. I am new to the forum and have had a good look round and there seems to be a wealth of knowledge here. As you can guess computer frustrations brought me in.

Using Windows XP

I had some probs in IE7 used with Google toolbar so decide to uninstall and reinstall IE7. I got half way through the uninstall and a warning came up that if I continued the uninstal problems might occur in other areas. I abandoned.
I then found I was missing key functions in IE...keyboard shortcuts, the google home button, the imported IE favourites.

I went back to the uninstall IE7 and decided to try again. It wizzed the wizard and hit the same warning messages. I opted to lose the info and continue the uninstall, but warning message after message came up, after ignoring about 20 of these I realised this was going to go on all day and abandoned again.

I returned to IE and the same faults persisted but nothing new.

I tried a reinstall of IE7 over the existing version but it wont let me. I tried a reinstall of the google toolbar but nothing happens.

I tried a system restore when all this had failed and this didnt change anything either.

Thanks in anticipation of some other ideas

Hi,I was recently infected with the Windows Repair bug and fixed (maybe its still there) it via one of the posts on the sites. So I'm thinking I might have had a couple of other infections that were dormant for a while or Malwarebytes or Symantec never noticed. After fixing that, I noticed Google Chrome stopped working. When I started googling in Firefox and IE i noticed the page would redirect. And then an the "Internet Explorer Script Error" with the URL pointing to apparent spam urls "http;//celebrity-gossip.net/ashley-tisdale..." as an example. So I updated and ran Malwarebytes AM, Symantec & Microsoft Defender to see what they would. Symantec found an bloodhound virus in an archived drive. And i cleaned whatever Malwarebytes found, forgot now since its been a 4 days.I've tried the TDDSkiller.exe and that wouldnt launch. I tried renaming it too, but nothing.I found another thread and tried cleaning with SuperAntiSpyware and Hitman.I don't remember the correct order I've ran these, but followed according to the threads, including safed mode, internet off, etc...Anyways, any help is appreciated. here is the log:.DDS (Ver_11-03-05.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Mikael at 21:35:05.37 on Thu 04/07/2011Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_24Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2047.902 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition *Enabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}.===========... Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having trouble with internet explorer 11 - keeps having me update Adobe Flash Player and I have the latest version, when I do... nothing changes it still wants me to update. Then Google Chrome crashed - I took pictures of the screen with my phone while that happened. It almost always comes up a box at the bottom that has show content in it. Do I have malware or spyware or adware or what?!
Thanks in advance for your patience!

A:Internet Explorer & Google Chrome

FWIW:  IE has nothing to do with Adobe Flash Player...if you are getting messages onscreen to update, they probably originate from the websites you are visiting.

What do you mean when you say "Google Chrome crashed"?  Did it halt the system...did you get an error message of some sort...exactly what prompts that statement?

I am running a Gateway computer that is running Vista Home Premium, 32-bit. I am taking a class the requires me to access the Cisco Net Academy online (cisco.netacad.net)and until a month ago I was able to access it using Internet Explorer 9. Then following the latest upgrade to Flash Player I could no longer access it. To solve the problem, I restored my computer so I was using the previous version of Flash. This worked great until a week later when Windows updated automatically. Since then I have not been able to access the website. I have tried uninstalling Flash, emptying caches and making sure flash was completely removed, then reinstalling it, uninstalling IE9, changing settings on IE9, adding the Cisco website to the trusted list, I have asked my instructor for assistance (his solution was to download another browser or send Cisco an email asking for assistance), asking the website for help (they told me to ask my instructor for assistance)and I asked on another forum, but so far nothing I have tried has made any difference. An interesting aside is that the site has a flash movie on the log-in page that plays when I first get to the site, but then after logging in I'm told flash isn't installed.
Hopefully, someone here will be able to help me.
I finally broke down and downloaded Google Chrome (someone told me that the Cisco website runs great with Chrome) and while I am able to access the site when using Google, another problem showed up. There is a skills bas... Read more

A:trouble using google chrome and internet explorer

Google chrome is a little easier as it can be completely uninstalled and all the settings removed. A reinstall will pretty much put everything back to default which will tell you if the problem is with your system or the installation. IE is a bit more difficult as it cannot be uninstalled. However first try clearing the cache completely and setting the config back to default. Also try removing the temp files from your profile. You can use the free version of CCleaner to do this which works quite well.

Hi

I have a Siemens Gigaset SE87 wireless router (on Tiscali) and managed to get it set up (eventually!) to work with firefox.

I can't get it to work with IE or Chrome though. I can access the router itself on both, but it won't let me change settings or use the internet.

Normally I'm very happy with Firefox but BBC iPlayer insists on using IE to manage downloads, or Windows Media Player if downloaded for a portable device... which also insists on IE!

I would also like to get Chrome working (I assume it's due to the same cause) as I've heard it's pretty good.

I'm not very techy so please help!

Thanks

This screams of a firewall configuration issue. What version and patch level of Windows are you using? Is this wired or wireless? If wireless, have you tried a wired connection?

This is peculiar as Chrome and IE are quite different.

Even before I finished reading your post I thought that the latest update to Adobe Flash might cause this, but then I remember that Chrome has its own version of Flash built-in.

So perchance this may be due to Java loading slowly? This is just a shot in the dark, though.
Do you have the latest update for Java 7? or Java 7, in fact, at all? The v7 release is somewhat new...

Hi,
This is my first post here, so I hope that I follow all of the rules. And thanks in advance for any help. My computer has been running slow for a while, and I think one of my kids might have gone to a website that allowed some malware in. My OS is Windows XP SP3. I have noticed a few things, 1. Had a problem with Adobe acrobat reader, it wouldn't update for some reason, and couldn't open PDF files for a while, after uninstalling and reinstalling several times, I think it is now working. Also noticed more recently when working in MS Word 03 every once in a while it won't let me save files. Now I am noticing that when I have Internet Explorer open for a while, IE tries to pop open a new window, to which the IP address is blocked by K9 web protection 91.212.226.6 is the IP. After googling this IP address, I found a few posts leading me to think there might be a trojan kicking around on my pc. I have run MBAM and Hijackthis in an attempt to find the culprit, but MBAM comes up clean, and I can't find it on Hijackthis. Any help woould be appreciated.
Thanks!

I am having Google Chrome problems.

I had previously installed Google Chrome, but could not use it except by using the "New Task" command under Windows Task Manager. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program to fix this error, and now that method doesn't work either. The error message that I receive tells me that "Windows cannot find 'chrome'."

Clicking on the icon has no effect at all.

I am using a Fujitsu LifeBook AH350 with Windows 7. Any help is much appreciated.

Well the first suggestion would be to uninstall and try again... if the problem persists you should post on the chrome support forums

I don't use Chrome, but if you cannot find an "X" to close the messages I guess you'll have to live with them.  In the meantime, I hope you have started looking for another browser.

I just got back from college and hooked my laptop up to our internet.

I use Google Chrome and lately it has been very, very slow. I have had random "monstermarketplace" search open in new tabs and the internet will randomly close.

I have run all my spyware and anti-virus software and everything has come back clean.

Please Help!

I am having similar problems, as others have posted, with both Google Chrome and IE, with only some pages not loading. I have tried the suggested instructions: Then click "options" > "under the hood" tab > "change proxy settings" > "Lan settings" > and check the box, "automatically detect settings" > OK.

This didn't work for me. I have also tried a couple other things suggested like ipconfig dnsflush; ipconfig release; ipconfig renew. I also tried logging into the cmd as admin and then netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log

I rebooted after these but still can't get to simple websites: wunderground.com and noaa.gov

Does anyone have other options or suggestions of what could have happened? I could get to these website up until 2 days ago, after using this for several months with no problems.

Thanks in advance.

A:Problems with Google Chrome and IE

Why not clean out all the crap and start with a clean slate? Google Chrome and other browsers as well, can become temperamental if the browsing cache and cookies aren't cleared out every now and again. I won't guarantee that it will fix your problem but it's worth a shot 'cos you seem to have exhausted your available options.
Click on the spanner symbol at the top right of your Chrome page, then "options" > "under the hood" > "clear browsing data" > then check the boxes that need to be cleaned. I prefer to NOT check the box for "saved passwords". You can then select how far back in time you wish to go ranging from "one hour" to "everything",.. I usually select "everything". The next time you use your browser, you may notice a slight millisecond delay in loading time which will decline in a few days when you start to accumulate cookies again.
Another quick way to do this chore is to install a little extension known as "Click & Clean",.. it uses CCleaner to do the clearing.
http://www.chromeplugins.org/extensi...on-for-chrome/

With IE, click on "tools" > "delete browsing history" and check the required boxes to be cleaned,.. then click "delete"

An alternative option to save you jumping through all these hoops,.. install "CCleaner" and select the cleaning function which will clear everything from the cache in all of your browser... Read more

Google Chrome was working fine until it crashed so I checked the About Google Chrome and it said 'almost updated relaunch now'. So I relauched. It didn't work 'I still get getting the same 'almost updated relaunch now'. Now the icons have disappeared to a blank square and I get this message every time I try to load it square also for some reason it's unset itself as my default browser and won't set itself back as default.

So I went back to About Google Chrome and got a Update failed (Error: 3) message so I went back and did it all again and now I have this message and all the other issues: An error occurred while checking for updates: version 47.0.2526.80 Update check failed to start (error code 3: 0x80040154 -- system level). I can access google chrome (for now) so long as I open a new window off the taskbar, but other than that I keep getting the error messages. Please can someone help me

I would uninstall Google chrome and then download and install a fresh copy from Google's website. That would fix any corruption in the programs installation

I LOVE this browser. but lately it has been messing up really bad.

for example; pages dont load properly. pictures dont appear sometimes. it sometimes logs me out of youtube for no reason. and if i try to search something on youtube or sign back in, it just takes me back to the front page. this also happened with this very site. it even gives me false malware alerts for sites i KNOW are trustworthy. i suspected it was malware so i ran a scan with both avast and malwarebytes. i also tried uninstalling it, with the cache and everything and it didnt work. i tried getting help for this problem before. people thought it was malware and they helped me out a lot and i think the problem was fixed for a few days. but now it is back and i have ran avast, superantispyware and malwarebytes and they dont find anything

im running on windows 8. if specs are needed i can provide them.

hoping that someone will know something

Am trying to use Google Chrome to play Farmville 2 on Facebook and cannot play it most of the time. It will start to play, will show my part of my farm but it is fuzzy and not any of my neighbors. When I can play it will sometimes tell me that a plug -in is not responding and asks if I want to kill it or wait, then it will tell me that the shock wave is not responding. I have gone to chrome://plugins and taken PepperFlash player so it is not working as I was told to do.

hi guys!
i have some issues regarding the google chrome browser.i am seeking some help as i dont get why i am facing them.
1.i am using google chrome and firefox both.i use firefox for all works and chrome for social networking.but i dont know for what reasons, chrome sits so much in system ram that it doesn't let other things to work,i have to close chrome and i can do everything using firefox, along with other things, but with chrome i cant.
2.i have set chrome to set up for synchronization,it sync perfectly but it says in chrome settings panel to manage sync data on google dashboard but on google dashboard i cant manage it,there are just 2 options, either turn off sync of google privacy policy.

i am using windows xp sp3 on a low spec system,it has 2.8ghz processor,1gb ram, with nvidia 256mb vga.although this is not so much low spec, but then why chrome makes this problem.

A:google chrome problems....please help.

I switched over from Google Chrome to Firefox as I too had similar issues. If I left my PC running for more than a day, usually downloading something, then if I just want to surf the web with Chrome, I cannot even get into it, before having to restart my PC. I notice at that time Chrome consumes about 70-80mb of RAM and you cannot "End Process" in the taskbar, only option is Restart. I still use Chrome now and then, cause I have an extension on it for Facebook that I use. Firefox is my current default browser and works much better. My PC is much faster than yours with 4GB of RAM, but I know how it feels.

Have been using Chrome for a few weeks now and like its speed but it has started acting 'flaky'.

If I click on a dialogue box arrow I get a popup (shown in the attachment) saying basically that the prog has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. This will popup for each letter I type in the dialogue which can be frustrating!!! It happens mainly when I try to post in forums. Using Firefox now so not sure if it would happen on this forum but the ones I frequent use vBulletin.

Any ideas. I've tried the usual uninstall - reinstall a few times and have now given up.

Try running Malwarebytes' Anti-malware to see if malware has infected the registry.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop
|MG| Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 Download
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.

Each time I'm on Google Chrome, I keep getting a bunch of pop-ups and then a message saying I have a virus that's trying to steal my info in windows and to call a certain number. I didn't want to call that number yet until I could find out if someone else
was running into that problem and if they were able to fix it. I even uninstalled Chrome and then installed it again, and I still keep getting those pop-ups, also making it impossible for me to close them out. I have to literally either go to "task manager",
or restart the computer. Anyone out there have a solution?

Hey all,

I've been having a problem with Google Chrome for the past month or two. I haven't gotten around to really dealing with it because I've been busy with graduation and all, but I come to you now asking help.

So, the problem. When I start my laptop up, everything runs fine. However, after closing Google Chrome, the next time I try to open it up again, it never loads. After some looking around, I noticed in the Processes bar of my Task Manager there are multiple applications running after the browser has been closed.  http://i.imgur.com/8XK83jG.jpg

The first fix I found for the problem was to go into Google Chrome's advanced settings and deselect the option highlighted below. However, even after making sure the box was not checked, I would go make sure it stuck, go about my work and shutdown my computer. The next time I start up my laptop, the same thing happens and when I went back into the settings to check it out, the box was checked again. http://i.imgur.com/Uf9KmKT.jpg

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome and even created a new chrome identity and that did not work either. I'm just not sure what to do and it's incredibly annoying when my browser will not open and I have to open my processes and manually end them all before my browser will open again.

A:Problems with Google Chrome

I'm running Chrome on a bunch of computers with everything from Vista to Windows 8.1, and haven't seen this problem.  I have to ask what your configuration is and what OS you have since you neglected to mention it.  I suspect that you have some form of malware, so I'd suggest you install MalwareBytes, get it up to date, then boot to Safe Mode and do a full system scan with both it and your antivirus program.

Good luck.

Have one problem with google chrome.

The problem is printing with virtual printers. I have PDF Suite 2012 Pro, that I depend on for printing from the internet. It doesn't work, or any other virtual printer I have, namely PDF 24, and HP ePrint. I do have one that does work, it is called Doro. I don't use this one, unless I have to, because of it's design, there is too much labeling to be done or not done. These other printers (the ones that don't work) seem to work in IE, and Firefox, so it is just google chrome that they do not.
