I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have sonic recordnow! and some video files. I want to watch them on my dvd player and big screen, as well as have them on cd's as a backup. My problem is that while the playback is fine watching the computer or dvd, a burnt cd plays back jerky audio and stuttering sound. It is not always convenient to burn a dvd when all I have at the house are cdr's. I could use some help figuring out what is wrong, thank you.

I bought Half Life 2 yesterday, and was making a backup of the dvd-rom this morning. I use Sonic RecordNow with a single DVD+-RW drive, so a temporary copy of the dvd is written to my hard drive first.
Later on, when i checked my free space, suddenly 4Gb have been used up. This is the only thing ive done, and i haven't installed Half Life either, so it hasn't been that taking up the space. It seems like the temporoary copy hasn't been deleted when the DVD has finished burning. Does anybody know how I can find it and delete it?

I have Roxio Creator Plus and up until today, it has worked great. I'm working on a project that needs to be finished Sunday and I'm really frustrated. Here's the problem:
There are some audio files that I have that I want to add. When they play on Musicmatch Jukebox they play fine, but when I put them in Roxio and do an audio preview or I try to play them using Windows Media, there's a "pop" and it shows that the files are playing, but there's no sound -- YET the file will still burn to a CD using Roxio, but it comes out fuzzy. HELP! I tried to burn them using Musicmatch, but every selection only burned 4 seconds and then stopped. I can't get them to burn using Windows Media.

If I load song files from a CD, they play and burn fine, but it's the files that AREN'T on CD that I need!!!

Also: how do I stop these stupid pop-up windows that appear every time I start up Musicmatch Jukebox wanting me to register this and buy that...?

Any help I can get would be extremely appreciated.

Hi there, hope someone can help me. I am trying to use Sonic MYDVD to record straight to DVD but its telling me a video signal was not detected. I checked in help and it tells me to go to record settings to add my dvice (Sony Handycam) but it is all greyed out so I cant change anything. I am stuck. The video camera is plugged in correctly. I am also having problems when I try to use Picture Package (ver 1.0) software which came with the camera as well. I cannot burn a DVD as it tells me I need a Sony personnal computer but I should be able to burn a VCD. It tells me to insert a new CD-R into the drive (which I do) then press start. A warning window comes up saying there is no disc in destination drive. Please insert a blank disc in the destination drive. 2 different packages - 2 different problems. I am pulling my hair out. I am using Windows XP and I believe the dvd writer is DVD RW R9 (this is on the front of it) although in properties it tells me it is DVD RW SOHW - 16335. Thank you for reading this and I hope you can help.

Noticed the DVD I'm trying to copy is a DVD+R. Could that be the reason. In other words, my system will only copy CD-R and DVD-Rs, right. Anyway around this?

On my new Dell, I used the Sonic Burning Software for the first time. I seem to like the simplicity of this program over the Roxio CD-Creator. At any rate, my new computer could read my CD-RW files created by my old computer, but could not write to the files created by the old computer. What I wanted to do is, I have duel CD-RW drives so I put the CD with my old files in it to be copied in drive D. I took out a new CD-RW (blank) and put it in drive E, selected the files that I wanted to copy from drive D to E and the burn was successful. (I did accidently copy two folders twice.) Problem is, I can't write to the CD-RW that I just burned. The files open fine but I can't write to them or delete them, or modify them in any way. Is this because:

1) My new computer could not write to the old RW's in the first place, so if it can't, no software is going to be able to copy files that can't be written to.

2) I didn't do something first to tell the Sonic software that the disk is a CD-RW in the preparation process for burning. Therefore, the software just closed access to the disk as its default setting and treated it like a CD-R?

Note that I did not format the CD-RW for burning, I just selected the files I wanted to copy and started the burn, so I think that's the issue here. How do I prepare a disk for formating using the Sonic software for burning so that it really acts and behaves like an RW-CD?

Right now, what I have is a CD-RW di... Read more

Trying to format a blank CD-RW for DLA (drive letter access so can reuse the CD for data backups) using Roxio v5.2 software and continue to receive Format failed due to media damage error message at the end of every 25 minutes of trying different manufacturer CDs, driver updates, etc. on a new Dell Dimension E520 received last week running Windows XP Media Edition.

Rather than spend more hours troubleshooting this problem, suggestions of other CD/DVD burning software that has worked for you, preferably one with a free trial? I looked at Nero, but does it give you a custom install option of not installing the 20 other pieces of what I consider bloatware and may conflict with other media software already preinstalled on the machine?

Sonic MyDVD Plus version 6.2 came with my Windows XP computer when we bought back in January 07. I haven't used it at all until now though.
A friend and I have created a DVD using this, on his computer. As we wanted to burn multiple copies we thought it'd be fair to split them, and burn half each. So he sent me all the files I needed, and I can open the file and watch all the videos on it, etc.
But when I came to burn it wouldn't work. The options in the bottom left say the quality is "HQ = DVD quality" and the one below says "DVD (4.7GB)". I clicked the big red burn button and then waited for over an hour while it transcoded and imported. Then, when it was over 3/4 of the way through writing it, it suddenly said "Ejecting DVD", and ejected it. So I thought it must be done, but an error message in gobbledegook popped up. I can't tell you what it was because to get it again I'd have to go through the whole process again...
I tried again, thinknig it was maybe just an isolated glitch. But it told me the DVD I was trying to write onto (I was using the same one as before) was full, but it had no files on it. Anyway, I used a different DVD, but the same thing happened again.

I asked my friend, who has all his DVDs burnt perfectly, and he said that he had the quality set to "Fit-to-DVD" rather than "DVD Quality". So I selected that option, only for it to pop up and tell me that the option wasn't available with my version.

Hi all, my first post here.I'm trying to use Sonic DigitalMedia LE v7 to import a movie before burning to disk. I've been getting the following error on import:Could not make a thumbnail. Make sure you have the appropriate decoder installed. -47010.I originally thought it was caused by incorrect/broken codecs. I've now installed a bundle of new codecs, and have tested them - none are broken. The main (largest file) still throws the same error - however, the smaller files with no substance, give a new error that says:The duration of the movie is less than 5 seconds and cannot be imported This I understand. Their is 1 file than runs for 2 mins, I can run this successfully (but no sound?) Finally, I've noticed the main file shows a % size of 209.1% when selected, I have -109.1% remaining - whats that all about?Any experience here greatly appreciated.

I've recorded home video on Sony Handycam DCR-DVD92 using 8cm DVD-RW (miniDVD) discs with capacity of 1.4gb. My camcorder does not support direct connection to PC. I finalize the disc and my PC's DVD drive can read the contents, and I can play it on other DVD players as well.

I want to burn multiple small miniDVD contents to a single fullsize Standard 12cm DVD of 4.7gb. The software i'm using is Sonic MyDVD LE 5 ver(5.2.0) OEM bundle. I'm unable to figure this out on my own.

These 8cm DVDs only hold about 30 minutes of footage in SP mode, so I feel like I should be able to get 3-4 small discs on one standard size 12cm DVD.

For the moment i'm able to burn only 1 miniDVD onto the standard DVD, by Disk to Disk Copy, but wasting the rest of the DVD disk space, and I want to utilize the remaining disk space too.

The DVD content in the miniDVD disc are as follows:

VIDEO_TS 384kb
VTS_01_0.BUP 26KB
VTS_01_0.IFO 26KB
VTS_01_0 725,888KB
VTS_02_0.BUP 20KB
VTS_02_0.IFO 20KB
VTS_02_1 328,224KB

I tried to make a DVD Project as described in the MyDVD help as follows:

1. Insert the DVD+VR disc in your PC's DVD-ROM drive or DVD recorder. (If a software DVD player launches, close it before continuing.)
2. Open the disc in Windows Explorer, then open the "VIDEO_TS" folder on the disc and locate the file named "VIDEO_TS.IFO".

The cute little Toshiba Record Now (DLA program --Drive Letter Access) that came with the laptop was locking the burned disk after any file was burned so I could not add any files.

The second I loaded files in the window of the SONIC NOW DLA program, it started automatically so I could not add any more files. Then nothing more could be added.

So I have a lot of discs with just a few files on them !!

Warranty is out--I didn't try to use this normal Windows cd burning feature the first year to see it didn't work. Now I would have to pay for help --unless someone out there can help me.

How do I get my cd options window that usually opens when you put in a disc back? No window pops up to say: play, open a window, do nothing, etc.

How do I get the option to add Send to CD drive D:/ (for burning)back on the menu when you right click a file or folder?

How do I get the option in the left hand bar of a XP window of files (File and Folder Tasks) that offers the file task of sending to a disk to the burner drive?

I disabled DLA on the Tabbed box in properties, thinking this might return normal Windows XP services. No effect.

I went into services, found imapi CD burning Com Service and made it automatic, restarted, but service is still not there.

I hope someone else has dealt with this successfully! Thanks for any help possible.

Never used either of those programs, but what are they for? If its recording/music creation that's all you can get unless you're able to encode to AC-3 or similar.
MP3 & all are just stereo.

In the Santa Cruz control panel applet be sure to set the Speaker output mode to 6 Speaker & enable Virtual 5.1 if you want that for playback though.

Hi all,

I'm trying to burn a VHS tape directly to a DVD using Sonic MyDVD 7. I've used Sonic many times in the past to capture video and then edit it in Sonic or in another program, but now it's just not seeing any video or audio. Pinnacle Studio is working fine - it sees and captures audio & video - but I'd rather use Sonic because it offers you better options. Any idea why Sonic is not cooperating??

I use a Dazzle DVC170 capture device.

A:Audio CD Burning with Nero Burning Rom

You cannot append any audio files to an disc that has been completed. Once a disc is completed it cannot access the remaining space. Especially with Nero Express. Once a disc is burned it is "closed (finalized)."

This is just a simple explanation.

I believe Roxio's Easy cd creator lets you add files to your disc as long as you don't "finalize" it. Until you finalize it you will not be able to listen to the music.

Hi. Ok, so I know this question has been answered at some point before, but please bare with me. My computer (HP pavillion a1110n) came with Sonic Digital media installed (so I have no disc). This computer was bought in 2005, I believe. Was my mom's then gramma's then mine. (yea we like to share lol) When my mom had it, Sonic worked perfectly fine. My gramma didn't use it. Now that I have it everytime i try to open it I get an error saying that "MyDVD.MSI" is missing. I've searched other sites and tried
startup>msconfig>startuptab>uncheck dma scheduler tab......there's wasn't one.
the i uninstalled it and used PC help & tools (Hp application recovery) to re-install. Now there is NO sonic on my computer. Is the software just outdated? or did i miss a step? I need this program to burn pictures to dvd (can't find another way to do it) so if you can help that'd be awesome!!!

A:Sonic Digital Media/Sonic My Dvd.

Are you making DVD slideshows or just backing up pictures to DVD for safe storage and/or playback on DVD players that are compatible with certain image files?

I'm unfamilliar with the application recovery process so I don't know why it didn't restore the program if it shipped with it preinstalled. The software is outdated but still usable.

If an alternate DVD burning program could solve the problem there are good free ones like CDBurnerXP (http://cdburnerxp.se/).

I want to create compilation Audio CD's to play on a regular stereo system & on an in-car CD player.

However, I still want to be able to play the unfinished CD on the regular CD players, that is, to listen to all the tracks already created.

Can this be done with NTI 2000 Professional & if so, what software settings do I use when burning tracks?

A:Cd Burning: Audio

Hi Izzy,

I just had this happen to me a couple weeks ago, I use Nero 6 , and after the big update day, I was going about my business, messing around with my media library, and I kept getting the same error.

It seems to me like that error comes from using the wrong format for the program opperation, or that the output path for the file is in use.

Anyway, after a half of an hour, I got mad, and reinstalled it......problem solved, in my case anyway. I use the K-Lite Codec Pack, and although I love it's universal quallities, for some reason, it's the buggiest program I use, and find myself reinstalling it once a week or so.

Although, it also could just be something as simple as two programs stepping on eachothers toes, maybe you have another media player that shares the target .extension, and there is a conflict, I think that is my problem, the only thing is, I have to many media players with odd settings to mess up.

Hope this helps,

Tech-support of a particular cd player I am using recommends I burn all my cds at 8x. WMP unfortunately does not use numbers in burning speeds but the terms slow-medium-fast-fastest. Can anyone please tell me which one is equivalent to 8x? I cannot use my Power2go because 10x is its minimum so I am stuck with WMP.

Thanks in advance for all assistance.

A:burning audio cd

The burner drive's available burn speeds will determine what speeds to burn, not WMP or any other burning program. All that program does is allow you to select an available burn speed.

I have a recording studio and do a lot audio CD burning. I use 8X as my "standard" so the CD's will play in almost all audio CD players. Above 8X and some will not play the CD or will skip.

Almost all SATA CD/DVD burners will only go down to 8X (there is one LG model that will go to 8X but that's all I've found). I have a bank of 5 PATA (IDE) interface drives (USB connected) and they will burn at 8X. I use Nero Burning ROM. The free CDBurnerXP will allow you to select an actual available burning speed if you don't want to buy Nero. Roxio will allow you to select a speed too but I abandoned Roxio due to all the buggy problems they have had over the years.

Please help me as I cannot burn any audio. My OS is XP. The programme used for the burn is "Record Now" but thats irrelevant because I now cannot use any other burn programme ie. Nero or Windows Media Player. What happens is that it starts converting and when the time comes for the burn it proceeds to 5% and then closes the disk. I replaced the drive (thinking it was a drive problem) still the problem persisted. I then did a full scrub of master and slave HDD thinking it was a virus. This fixed the problem short term. Three months later the problem arises again. Before I do a full scrub again, I wanted to know whether anybody else has run accross this problem. For extra information I can still burn DVD with full audio, pictures any other documentation just not audio. and for those who think its a licencing problem, there are no licenses on the music I am burning, just band stuff.

Yes you can burn them in a DVD disc as long as you have a DVD burner drive, appropriate burning software that support DVD burning. If you will use the DVD on your DVD player that will depend on what file type your player supports.

A:Burning Audio CDs

Turn off InCD, and see if that makes a difference, or try a different cd writing program. If that doesn't work, the drive is probably going bad and will have to be replaced

Hi Guys and Gals, I'm a new guy here so please be patient.
Like many others I seem to have an Audio CD burning issue.
I have a new HP g6 laptop with windows 8 and wish to create audio cd' of my old cassette tapes, I can create the CD having extracted the files I want using Audacity Software, The created CD runs fine on this laptop and even my very old Contessa PC Windows 98 OS but they will not run on my HIFi / Music Center. I have used Windows Media Player, Cyberlink and Torch to no avail. tried burning at slowest speed, still no luck.
(Running low on discs now)
The CD's are the same as I used on XP and on '98 which used the Sonic RecordNow burner and the CD's created all work on any CD player.
I would be very grateful for any useful guidance.
Thank you.

Here is my system information FYI

Do I have to have my audio files in a particular format to burn them to cd? For example, if I compile MP3's to a cd and burn it with a program like easy cd creator, will it play on my car cd player?

I use Nero 6 Ultra to burning audio CD's. Lately, I have been having a problem when burning mp3 audio. It seems to burn fine but some cd's I burned will not play on a cd player or car stereo. I have tried cd-r and cd-rw media but it seems not to make a difference.
Is there another type of mp3 format i can use?

A:Audio cd burning

Are you sure that you are burning audio CDs from the MP3 files and not creating Data CDs with MP3 files on them? Most older home and car CD players will only play Audio CDs and not recognize any kind of Data CDs. Some newer players may be able to play MP3 files from Data CDs.

Real old players may have problems with burned Audio CDs.

Hey,all. This is my first thread after joining this forum. Just to let u all know that this forum has been such a great help to me. Thank you tech maestros out there who shared your knowledge.

However, i have this problem that I don't think anyone has ever posted. I am using Nero burning ROM version Nero Start Smart i am using a Samsung combo Drive CDRW/DVD SM-352N 52x24x52x16x. I used a blank Imation CD-R to burn about 20 songs using Nero. The songs are in mp3 format and I believe Nero converts them to audio files because i chose the option >> make audio cd.

After burning the CD, I played it on my PC.It works fine with winamp and Windows Media Player. But when i play it on my discman, it skips. I could only listen to the first 4 songs and the rest was screwed up. Anyone who has a solution or who wants to share their same problem, just reply. Thanks in advance for the help.

I recently wasted hours burning some audio files to CD-RW media only to discover that when I tried to listen to them on my car radio all I got was an error message. Can anyone assist me with directions on the best way to avoid the same problem again?

I used WMA, but also have Realplayer and Dell's Jukebox to burn from. I assume I'm copying the files in the wrong format for the CD-RW media, but I don't know how to change or designate a different foremat on these programs.

A:Burning Audio to CD-RW

Try burning an Audio CD with a CD-R, instead of CD-RW. RW discs are sometimes unplayable in a regular CD player.

A:Burning Audio CD's

The CDs may have compatibility issues with the drive. Search for a firmware update for your model.
Drive may be going bad, can you check with another one?
Are you using verify option in burner software?

Was trying to make an Audio CD of MP3's,
15 tracks totalled 180mb;However, the running
time was 78mins, and thus no more tracks fit.
So there is a 80min not 700mb limit on Audio CDs.

I converted from WAV to MP3 for the purpose of fitting
50 songs on a CD. Apparently, in audio burn mode, it is
not the file sizes but the running time that matters.
Thus, I could've set to 8kb/s low quality, but the running
time remains, and so I cant fit 3 studio CDs unto 1 CD.

Ifcourse, I could play my MP3&WAV CDs in the PC, or in the DVD player,
but the CD player doesnt play WAVs. Then whats the point of
burning MP3's on Audio CD's?

On my HP cd writers, When I burn an exact copy
of audio cd's ( any brand , I get popping sounds on my speakers of the burned cd. This occurs on all diff brands of cd's -r, and even when I lowered the speed of the burn to 4x , It still has pops. Do you think my cd burner is defective or can it be my adaptec software, if it occurs each time I burn cds and even use diff brands of rewritable cd's? Please reply, Jason 8/15/01

A:getting pops on burning audio cd's

First, verify that the CDR or CDRW disks you're using are rated for the speed at which you are burning them. Even though you lowered the speed to 4X, do the disks say specifically 4X or higher? If they don't say anything, burn them at 2X.

Second, are you having problems with all of your audio CDs or just ones that you've purchased recently, maybe in the last few months? Try burning an older CD. Rumor is that record companies are employing technology to ruin the quality of copies.

I have some audio books on 12 different cds I'd like to boil down to one. I can convert those cds to just under 700mbs. However when I go to burn it in nero as an audio cd, for every 80 minutes it wants me to put in a new blank cd. I really want to get them all to just one cd and I fail to see why less then 700mb can't fit on a 700mb audio cd. Does anyone know how I can do this?
For a bit more back ground I have tested to see if my conversion of the bigger wave files to the smaller one works on my cars cd player and it does. I have also noticed verry littel of the space for the data on the bottom of the cd has been used.

A:Burning more then 80mins on an audio cd?

If you are going by audio cd, then the MB is moot, only the minutes. There are CDs out there that have the extra space, but not widely sold.

For some reason i can not get mp3's to burn at there set quality (usually 320k) to cd at it's set quality. Ill burn a cd and check it with winrip or realplayer and its always plays at 144100 (or 140k). For some reason it will not burn anywhere near cd quality or the set quality.

Could anyone suggest any programs that will burn at 320k or more for mp3 to a audio cd?

Ive searched the net and i still haven't found one.

It seems that all programs only burn to cd 140k or lower, which greatly dimishes the cd to about half the mp3's true quality.
