X1C6 replacement TrackPoint Caps.

Q: X1C6 replacement TrackPoint Caps.

I would like to order a set of caps for my X1 Carbon 6th Gen. Could someone please provide a link to where I can order and correct part number? The Lenovo site is rubbish on product description with no mention of compatibility with X1C6 and Amazon has million variants ? few mentioning 6th Gen X1C.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had this problem before and had a replacement, but in the replaced machine the problem came back. Especially when pressing the button all the way on the left side it is sometimes unresponsive even though it makes a clicking noise. But sometimes it works, so maybe it is caused by dust? Is anyone else having this problem?

My trackpad and trackpoint died while I was editing text (no load, no updates, just typing and stuff). Trying to fix that I successfully updated BIOS on fresh windows installation and tried to update touchpad/trackpoint firmware, but got errors, similar to the ones in that thread. In particular, I am getting :"fail to enter transparent mode" error on the trackpoint firmware update"0x0" error on the touchpad firmware update No found solutions helped. Any thoughts or ideas? Warranty service is not operating at the weekends, so I would love to hear any suggestions.

I figured out the part number is 4XH0L55146.  But, where can i get them? I live in New Zealand, and the NZ online store does not stock them.   The US store does not ship to NZ.  None of Lenovos NZ partners stock these either.  My current trackpoint cap has failed and I really need a new one.   I spoke to Lenovo on the phone and they couldn't help either...  It seems at this stage, the only way to fix this is as a warranty repair.

Hi everyone For the TrackPoints of older ThinkPads, there are usually three types of replacement caps - classic dome, soft dome or soft rim. I recently bought a ThinkPad X1 Yoga which supports "super low profile" TrackPoint caps if my research is correct. I'd like to try the concave soft rim caps, but in the only super low profile pack that I've found there are only standard soft dome caps. Do soft rim caps even exist in the super low profile variation which fit the X1 Yoga? Thanks!

I was watching the T25 Anniversary unboxing video and saw that it comes with a selection of trackpoint caps. Given that my T460p and later models use the low profile cap, I haven't been able to find the other shape caps that are available for the pre T440 laptops (large square hole).  So would the T25 caps fit the low profile of the T460p and later models. Any place I could order them from?Thank you.

Solved!

A:Trackpoint caps from Anniversary model.

On  further research, the T25 caps are NOT super low profile and as such, at best, they will stick out and maybe touch the screen when the lid is closed. So the answer would be no for the swap. Sadly the only cap available in super low profile is the one that comes with the T460p. Thanks for your time.

I bought a preowned ThinkPad X220 and it didn't have a red rubber Trackpoint on the keyboard, there is just a small black square and a gap.I ordered a replacement online and it did't fit, the square hole in the bottom of the red dome was too big, but it fitted on my X230 keyboard fine which has a yellow plastic square/star thing that the X220 didn't.Does the X220 take different Trackpoint sizes, or am I missing the yellow plastic part that my X230 has? If so can I buy that part separately or do I need a new keyboard? Thank you

Hi everyoneI'm in a bit of a pickle. My old keyboard on my x230 (running win10 pro) was utterly worn out so I decided to replace it which is easy enough. However now the mouse buttons for the trackpoint are not working. The trackpad and the trackpoint itself along with the rest of the board work "flawlessly" but not the three buttons for the trackpoint. I'v tried removing and reinstalling the Synaptic drivers, both the newest version and an older one recomended on a different forum. I have triple double checked the board connection is firmly attached and that all the settings in both BIOS and the synaptic panel are set as normal but still no luck. Any help or advice to solve this would be greatly appriciated.

ThinkPad Super Low Profile TrackPoint Cap Set, Part number:4XH0L55146. this is the cap fits to thinpad x1 yoga.

since having z20t for the last year and half. I still can not find any other 2-in-1 to be better. this comes from someone who had previously only used the most expensive thinkpad models and updating every 1-2 years.

however, the trackpoint cap drives me a bit crazy as I rely on it most time as a 10+ year thinkpad user. it is tiny, needs a lot of force to move, and after a while, the surface becomes smooth and easy to slip.

I did tons of search and bought quite a few replacement caps to try, none worked. and it bugs me that toshiba does not sell a replacement either. so one day when the cap wears out or damaged, I would need to buy a new keyboard dock at least.

finally I found one that works perfectly, from no other than thinkpad itself.
ThinkPad Super Low Profile TrackPoint Cap Set, Part number:4XH0L55146. this is the cap fits to thinpad x1 yoga.

It fits perfect into the space, right size recess to connect to keyboard, just a bit higher than keyboard surface for easier usage. It is also low enough that it does not touch screen at all (far from it) when closed.

more importantly, as it is bigger and have many dimple on it. it is actually much much better user experience. I would say now it would give similar feeling as the best thinkpad trackpoint now. no slip, needs much less force to move around.

I found this solution by accident as I bought a... Read more

Hi,
I have a document which has hundreds of words in ALL CAPS (amongst other words that I wish to leave), which I want to turn to lower caps italics. Here's my macro so far:

Selection.Find.ClearFormatting
Selection.Find.Replacement.ClearFormatting
With Selection.Find
.Font.BOLD = False
.Font.Size = 12
.Text = " [A-Z][A-Z]{1,14}"
.Replacement.Text = "^&"
.Replacement.Font.Italic = True
.Replacement.Text.Case= wdLowerCase
.Forward = True
.Wrap = wdFindContinue
.Format = True
.MatchCase = False
.MatchWholeWord = False
.MatchAllWordForms = False
.MatchSoundsLike = False
.MatchWildcards = True
End With
Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll

I want it to ignore Bold headings, hence the fontsize 12 and BOLD commands early on in the macro.

I'm stuck on the line in red - keep getting invalid message. How do I turn replacement text to lower caps? Can't work it out.

I'm already aware of how to toggle caps on off etc with F3. But I need to run this for hundreds of words, hence why I wish to create a macro. Anyone know how to change replacement text case?

Thanks in advance.
Derrick

A:Word Macro to turn all caps into lower caps

I don't think you can do a "replace all" in this particular situation. The code would need to be modified to search for each instance of Caps one at a time using a loop and do the changes to each one separate. I can help with the coding but I can tell you right now it won't run very efficiently especially considering the number of instances you say there could be.

I'm a sloppy typist. I don't know if I hit some key combo or what but I was typing a letter in word pad and suddenly my typing is in all caps. I have used a reg file to disable my caps lock key on this laptop because it gets in my way - a long time ago. I know it cannot be the caps lock key. I do not have a shift key sticking.

I saved the letter, then copied it to Polyedit another word processor, and it still types in all caps. Firefox does not seem to be effected. I even tried rebooting and nothing helped.

Long story short. I had Lenovo replace my top case because the left click button wasn't working. Yes, they replaced the entire top case including keyboard and pointer. They did not replace the trackpad though.  So the keyboard that originally came with my laptop which was built in Nov 2018, was a lot stiffer. I was getting a lot of mistype due to me not applying enough pressure. This replacement keyboard though, oh my, it's perfect! The strokes are a lot softer and my typing accuracy went way up.  If you do not like your keyboard for some reason, you should maybe goto a Costco and bring your laptop to do a compare. I think they are not using the same supplier for some of these keyboards. I like my replacement one a lot more than the original one that came with the laptop.

A:X1C6: Not all keyboards are the same

Lenovo chat agent told me that they have the same keyboard but obviously they are not as the one in the X1 Yoga 3rd gen is retractable. in some reviews, reviewers mentioned that one is better/more comfortable to use than the other. Which one is that? Also, which has no/less heat, noisy fan, thermal issues? I am a programmer and a writer. If I get a WQHD screen, will it be too reflexive to use?

Hi, I got a X1C6 to replace my old dying X250. It's better in every way except of one: built-in audio. Let me try to explain. I have a DAW on my computer and sometimes I just don't plug in my audio interface, but sit on a coach with my laptop and mix/compose using the built-in headphone amplifier. All my audio projects use 96kHz sampling rate and 24-bit depth. However in X1C6 no 96kHz rate is avaliable at all and that drives my DAW mad. I believe, the actual audio adapter used in X1C6 is able to go up to 192kHz (CMIIW), but in my driver settings I can't see it. I try this way: Control panel -> Hardware and sound -> Manage audio devices. Select built-in audio interface (Speakers / Headphones by default) and click Properties. On Advanced tab there is Default Format that has a 96kHz choice in my X250, but only a 48kHz one in X1. I'm using latest Lenovo-supplied drivers on both. I hope that can be fixed and I'll enjoy the new computer more than my old one.Thanks

I'm posting this for others considering this model.  I was cautious given all the complaints about heat, fan, throttling, TB3 Dock issues, etc., etc. After several days setting it up and using it and one day with TB3 Dock connected, I have nothing but positive to report.  It came with 1.22 BIOS and I'm hesitant to update as no problems are evident.  I will ask in a separate thread about that. Temps run between 50 and 70 Centigrade.  A bit warmer than my P50, but I guess still in normal range.  Fan does run, probably at lower speed.  I can't hear it unless I put my ear close or feel the hot air coming out of the right side.  I am using only a single monitor connected to the TB3 Dock.  I tried using the laptop screen and the monitor as extended (dual monitors) and it worked fine.  I'm connecting the monitor to the Dock by HDMI.  I ran the X1 at work yesterday on battery.  9:00am to 6:00pm and still had 30% left!  Moderate use.  I'm not always on the computer at work, but still....! Anyway, I would have appreciated a post like this when I decided to take the risk and order one.  I know forums typically only have problems, but it looked like worse than usual.  I hope this is reassuring to someone. Cheers!

I've read several posts regarding the X1C6 & the HDR screen and its pretty tempting to grab right now with the fantastic Lenovo sales prices...but wanted an opinion on a few things about it or whether I should just wait for the X1C7? 1) Right now, I can get the WQHD (matte) w/512GB SSD or the HDR w/1TB SSD for REALLY great prices with the current Lenovo sales. Price really isn't an issue for me give the current great prices. I could order an HDR now since I can return it up until 1/15/19 with the holiday return policy...and wait until CES in January to see if they put a matte screen on the X1C7's HDR option. Would be a small return window I guess?Thoughts? 2) The main debate that I have, as does everyone it seems, is whether to get the X1C6 HDR or not given:a) the better qualityb) the glossy v matte debate (I have always had matte but also like quality for photo editing and everyone RAVES about this screen)c) the extra taxing the HDR puts on the machine overall (throttling, etc.)d) the loss of additional battery life due to the HDRI have read where at least the last two issues have been quelled some with software/BIOS updates. Thoughts?3) Matte screen protector... Would I lose a lot of the quality benefits of the HDR with one on (ie, would it degrade it to a level higher/lower than a WQHD 300 nit)?4) I plan to drive either two 24" monitors, or one 34/38" ultra-wide, with this machine. This post is partially to request assistance and partially to voice aggravation and disappointment. My old laptop was failing and I was in need of one for travel with WWAN capability. I initially bought an X1C6 that showed the WWAN card as enabled in BIOS. When I found out that the card was not present, I returned the laptop. After doing further research, I settled on a T480s that was WWAN upgradable, expectating a wait for the EM7565 with FRU 01AX762. Now the Fibocom L850-GL with FRU 01AX786 is available for new builds, but I cannot find where to buy it on the site or elsewhere; if this is not simply due to me being unable to navigate the poorly-designed Lenovo site, it effectively punishes anyone who ordered early. Finally, I tried my old EM7345 with FRU 04X6014 and encountered the 1802 error for an unauthorized device. Researching that further led to understand that Lenovo uses a whitelist - another punishment. I am now ready to return this laptop as well unless I can make some progress before traveling again. I would not be surprised if a class-action lawsuit were brought against Lenovo and any other manufacturers restricting individuals from making use of their own legitimately purchased hardware, especially when false or incomplete information is pushed by the company. If anyone knows where to obtain either LTE card, I would appreciate it.

Hi Everyone, I just received my new X1 Carbon 6th Gen (20KHCTO1WW) and everything was running smoothly until yesterday when I did my first driver/firmware update via the Lenovo System Update App. A bunch of things got updated, including the BIOS, and after reboot everything was ok except for my keyboard (Apple USB, wired) that was not recognized by Windows (the logitech mouse is fine). I first thought it was a problem with Windows drivers and tried to play around the Device Manager to uninstall/reinstall drivers but after rebooting into the BIOS, I realized the keyboard was not working there either. Strange right?To me a basic USB Keyboard should work straight away during boot time and if it is not working in the BIOS, there is no chance Windows could do anything about it. So I guessed, this happened after the BIOS upgrade (to 1.34) and thus I tried to disable secure boot and run the legacy Bios but without success (by the way I don't see any visual difference between Lenovo legacy bios and UEFI is that normal?). => If some of you have clues about why it is not working, I would be thankful! Notes:- I've tried both USB ports and with other devices --> they are ok- The keyboard was working fine before the update- The keyboard is still working fine behind a Thunderbol dock- They keyboard is working fine on another computer (lenovo)- The kyeboard is not working on my wife's Lenovo X1 Yoga fully updated --> It seems related between to these m... Hello I hope someone might be able to help me. I have been trying to run the Thunderbolt Firmware Update Utility - 10 [64] - V.1.0.12.0-N23TF13W.  When I run the update I get the following error from the Thunderbolt firmware update utility: "Error: 0x224 SDK_NATIVE_MODE_MISMATCH Native/BIOS-Assisted mode mismatch between the controller and the image file". Below is the about from the Thunderbolt Software.   Thanks in advance for your guy's help!

Hello, I am considering between X1 Yoga (Gen 3), X1 Carbon (Gen 6) and X1 Extreme. Since we don't know about the X1 Extreme yet, I would like to check the specs of the former two. I want the laptop to be able to drive a 4K TV/display at 60 Hz with Chroma 4:4:4 and also charge using another port at the same time. I may also use eGPU later. For these two laptops, which one(s) have both USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports that can run at full speed of 40Gbps independently at the same time?

Hi, I like Dobly Atmos but X1C6 and X1Y3 do not have it built in. Can I add Atmos to these laptops perhaps through some kind of external sound card?

In case anyone encounters a "hardware disabled" wifi on his x1c6 - which does not have a hardware button like my x1c1 had - it may be the "Wireless Auto Disconnection" option is enabled in the BIOS settings. It took me quite a while to figure this out, even though I had enabled that option myself a while ago. But as I was playing around with an (unsupported) WWAN card, I had thought I had bricked my wifi in the process. It's btw. very easy to confirm that it is in fact this BIOS setting, by simply unplugging the ethernet cable. Then the "hardware disabled" state should go away. (Which means that only ethernet users will every run into this issue).  This just as a heads-up for anyone encountering the same problem, as it can be quite frustrating, if you think you've ruined your wifi.

I have this issue for almost a year now, updates do not fix that.Sometimes after waking up touchpad works like this: you put the finger on it and start moving. Cursor on the screen has a lag of approximately 0,5 s before starting to move. But after that if you keep moving your finger everything works perfectly. Then you raise your finger, put it down again and there will be same issue with starting 0.5 s lag.To resolve issue it is sufficient to just put laptop to sleep and wake it up again. So, I guess this issue happens after relatively long sleep, for example overnight. Does anybody experience the same? Any tips are much appreciated.

When I close the lid to put the X1C to sleep and the fan is currently spinning, then the fan will continue to spin for a considerable amount of time. Sometimes it stops after a while, but occasionally, the fan will seemingly not stop spinning at all, even though the machine has long cooled off. I've already done a hard reset and disabled fast boot, but the problem still persists. It is very inconsistent behavior, so not easy to reproduce.

I've bought an X1C6 this October (Core i5-8250U/8/256/Win10Pro), and after several days the sound started disappearing. The symptoms are:- the problem may appear while running any program that streams or plays video, or even a game;- the problem usually appears when the sound is muted, but not always;- when it happens, the File Explorer freezes (although apps may run) and I can't change the sound volume and the diode on the F1 buttons is always ON, whatever I do;- after several seconds the freeze goes, and I am able to change the volume levels again both with the Fn buttons and the slider in the tray, but there's no sound. The OS thinks the volume is being changed and shows volume levels changing when playing any sound;- sound works normally via the HDMI. The system restart may help, only after several days, it stops helping.Then the reset button may help, or it may not.The Windows reset doesn't help at all. Tried that a couple of times.I tried running Ubuntu from a liveUSB, the symptoms are the same.I even installed the OS anew (used the Lenovo USB Recovery Tool trying to fix another problem) - that didn't help either. I asked the local Lenovo support to send me a new motherboard, and they did, only the service decided it was the audio card that's separate from the motherboard (I didn't know it at the time, but why didn't support think of that?) We put my audio card back and it worked again for several days until it stopped again. So physically re-connect... Read more
