Hello to everyone! I would like to ask you guys for a bit of assistance.I recently bought a 2nd hand Lenovo ThinkCentre M82, as much as i like the machine i would love to make it as if it was straight out of the box (software wise). The problem is it came without the original HDD. I bought a SSD and i'm planning on installing Windows 7. How should i go about in doing so ? I want to have the recovery partition and all the things that the original HDD had. Like when you clicked on your system information and it had the Lenovo logo and stuff. Thanks in advance Laterz

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Im trying to install windows xp professional onto my ibm thinkcentre(mt-m 811324u) machine. I get as far as the following comment. Please wait while setup copies files to windows installation folders, set up copying files.

After that operation is completed the machine reboots, this is where my problem lies, if I do nothing the machine continues to reboot over and over without stopping. If I interrupt the reboot and direct the boot up to drive D where the xp disc is , it merely starts the whole installation process again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I ran a fdisk and format procedure before installing the xp program.

The machine ran well before getting totally corrupted forcing me to clean the slate totally. So I know in the past xp pro was on this machine and running.

Boot into Setup (Bios) usually F2. Change the SATA Hard Drive mode from AHCI to IDE or Compatibility Mode. Boot off of the XP CD and choose to Delete the Partition, Create a New Partition, and Format the partition NTFS, do not do a Quick Format, this will take longer but will test the integrity of the drive.) Install Windows.

Has anyone tried installing a PNY NVS 810 graphics card in a ThinkCentre M800? When I put it in, I can see the BIOS screen (and can go into BIOS and change settings), but after that the computer seems to freeze. Screen is blank and no disk activity. I have tried putting the card in another computer and it booted fine. Also, I replaced the power supply with a 520w unit. No change. Waiting to hear back from either Lenovo or PNY support.

Hi all, I am in need of installing a second disk drive for my ThinkCentre E53 10AS. I read the manual, which has instructions on replacing the disk drive - it does mention that in order to install a second disk drive, to follow these same instructions! Of course, it would not be an identical process. For example, there are 3 SATA plugs on the mother board, SATA1, SATA2 (both red), and SATA3 (yellow). SATA1 is plugged into the HDD.

There is a box connected to the power button, that has two buttons on the back. SATA power and SATA data. The SATA power is connected to the HDD and the motherboard via a 4-wire cable. The SATA data is connected to the HDD via a ribbon SATA cable.

So, if I want to install a second HDD, do I use a SATA plug to connect it to the yellow SATA 3 plug?

Does the fact that the plug is yellow mean anything?

And finally, I have looked everywhere, but cannot figure out what the max HDD capacity would be for a secondary drive? I bought a WD Red 3TB. Hopeful it works?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

A:ThinkCentre (E53): need to install as secondary hard disk drive

According to the hardware maintenance manual for the E73, the two motherboard SATA connectors (which you say are red) are SATA3 which supports 6GB/s.  The third one (which you say is yellow) is SATA2 which supports 3GB/s.

Sinc you've bought a SATA3 drive, you should use the second red SATA3 connector to get maximum performance out of it.  Be sure you use a SATA3 data cable and not a SATA2 data cable, as that's part of the requirement to get SATA3 performance.

As far as drive capacity goes, there's no hardware limit pertaining to your E73.  However there IS a consideration depending on the fact that your drive is larger than 2TB.  In order for a new drive to be usable, it must be "partitioned" and "formatted with a file system".  And in order to use a drive larger than 2TB the partitioning technique must be GPT, and not MBR.

You can partition the new drive to have one or more partitions, but if you mistakenly use MBR as the partitioning technique only 2TB of the drive will be visible and usable for partitions.  And there will be a maximum of four "primary" partitions (or a maximum of three "primary" partitions and any number of "logical" partitions).  The extra 1TB of your new 3TB drive will be invisible and unusable.  And the largest MBR partition is also limited to 2TB.

In contrast, if you partition the drive using GPT (which is the modern partitioning method that is recommended), this method supports drives... Read more

Hi!
I've just received a M710T (product code 10M9000CIX - i7-7700 + m.2 ssd + 8gb ddr4) which comes with a 180W PSU.
I'm from Italy so it was difficult to find the US version with 210W PSU, I see that the US version had it http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkCentre/ThinkCentre_M710_Tower

I was looking to buy the 210W as an aftermarket part but I cannot find the code / website where I can buy it.

The reason why I need this is because I've just buyed an Nvidia GT 1030 low profile which should consume about 25/30W.
Reading online I think that my PSU should hold up the load but I would like to power up my PSU for the future.

Another thing to consider is that Lenovo ships various M710T with 180W + NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2GB + 7200rpm HDD.
The power consumption of the GT 730 is similar to the 1030 and my machine have an m.2 ssd that should consume less than the HDD.

So the questions are:
- is there anyone with my machine (180w) who is using a dedicated gpu without a problem?
- how and where I can find the 210W online (shipping to eu/italy)?

Thank you!

As you wrote, systems with the 180w supply are available with the GT 730, which is similar in power to the GT 1030, so the 180w will power it no problem.  The reason this is possible, is that current generation processors use much less power than those from a few years ago, ie. 65w vs. 80 or 95w.

I am confident that there are some models with 210w available in Italy.  You could search the PSREF for system models ending in "IX", same as yours.   I imagine that in a couple of years you'll see good used 210w supplies on Ebay for reasonable prices.  The part number can be found in the parts list in the back of the HMM.  So that when you want to upgrade the GT 1030, you can do so.

Dear Lenovo ThinkCentre Team, please let me share my deep frustration about you inability to provide a proper Firmware Update routine, even after several years into the Windows 10 era. How hard can it be to sign your filter drivers with valid certificates that did not expire 2 years ago with an obsolete SHA1 routine? You might think that those certificates don't matter, but yes they do, if you have HVCI and credential guard activated. In this case you will be unable to install the firmware update and if you are really lucky you will also get a nice blue screen as reward. Funny enough, you have already a working solution. The firmware updates published in the Microsoft Update Catalog. Unfortuantely they are all outdated. Ok, thank you for listening to my pre-weekend rant ... and get your act together! Peter

For this there is no official iso download link, system was preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Premium and at the time of purchasing only you have to create OEM Recovery Media which can be used for OS installation in future purpose.
So you don't have a recovery disks?

For about two weeks my M93p has been "Shutting Down Windows" randomly and rebooting immediately.  At first I thought the problem was with Windows Update so I uninstalled the April update and the problem seemed to disappear.  I set Update to delay installations for 35 (?) days but the issue began again so I updated to the May 1903 update just for the heck of it. The most irritating aspect is the PC will run for hours without a problem then suddenly reboot and maybe reboot again within a few minutes or behave for a while.  I found an old post about creating an "abort shutdown" desktop/keyboard shortcut and it's actually worked a couple of times when the "close apps" dialog appeared.. I replaced the internal hard drive with a WD SSD about a month ago but that's all that has changed.  I thought about buying a "renewed" powe supply for ~ $40 to see if that might be the issue since I've run Lenovo diagnostics on all the components several times without any errors.  If the PC is overheating it's recovering pretty quickly since it always starts right back up automatically.  The M93p is almost 5 years old but with its i7 core CPU and 16GB RAM it runs very fast and I can use a ton of apps without any lagging. After I swapped out the HDD for the SSD it was noticeably faster at booting, which had become a 5 minute endeavor.  If I can fix the rebooting problem it may last another couple of years ... or I'll just get used to saving work frequent... Just don't know how to force it to do a factory install.Help please!

We have 3 Thinkcentre E73 desktops that were sold with Windows 8 but downgraded to Windows 7 and as support for Windows 7 is coming to an end we wish to upgrade back to Windows 8. Can anybody give a step by step guide to the procedure, I am led to believe it may involve changing BIOS settings but could be wrong. Any help much appreciated.

A:ThinkCentre: How to upgrade Windows 7 on PC downgraded from Windows 8

From the link in the "Read First ..." thread above:

"One option for keeping your existing system is to update to Win 8.1, 64-bit (which has extended support until Jan 2023), and install the Stardock "Start8" utility to replace the truly awful Windows 8 start menu with a Win 7 like customizable start menu.  If your system is new enough, it may already have a Win 8 key, stored in an encrypted format in the BIOS or UEFI firmware, but was downgraded to Win 7.  The install ISO file can be downloaded directly from Microsoft, and if needed, a Win 8.1 license (key) can be purchased on Ebay or other resale marketplaces.

If you only have 4 GB memory, you may need to upgrade to 8 GB , as Win 8 uses more memory than did Win 7, and a 64-bit OS uses more than 32-bit.  In addition, more memory is needed by a modern web browser (not Internet Explorer), which are more feature rich and much more secure, and absolutely necessary from a security standpoint (Firefox, Chrome.)  Microsoft themselves have said not to use IE except for extreme cases of compatibility where no modern browser will work."

Hi,I have a new Lenovo Thinkcentre M920Z with MultiTouch Display and 256GB SSD. As of the Lenovo homepage this model should support Hello logon using the RGB/IR camera. But my Windows 10 1803 with all newest drivers and patches does not recognize this camera as Hello compatible. And on the Microsoft compatibility page, the Thinkcentre with this camera is not mentioned. I even modified my settings using GP editor to allow biometrical logon, but this didn?t help. Any idea, how I could get Hello running? michael

I have 3 Systems type 10GR-001HUK and all three continuously fail (multiple hits per minute) with the above error code and following description.  A corrected hardware error has occurred.Component: PCI Express Root PortError Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)Busevice:Function: 0x0:0x1c:0x0Vendor IDevice ID: 0x8086:0xa115Class Code: 0x30400  I have seen a report that turning off TI External Event Utility Service will resolve this problem but my build of Windows does not have this service. I have also seen reports that setting PCIExpress Forcedisable with the BCDEdit command will also resolve the issue. Before running the BCDEdit command I would like to know what impact this willl have on the system and is it just masking the problem. Does anybody have a definitive solution to this problem? Many thanks Firkle

Hello Everyone,

I had a quick question here. In 2016, I purchased a 2012 Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p. It is Windows 7 Professional, and has 8GB of Ram. Intel CPU up to 3.20 GHz.
I love it to be honest,  but have just now received word that Windows 7 will no longer be supported after January of 2020. I was wondering if it will be possible for me to upgrade this system to a Windows 10 ? I do not want to buy a new computer, and do not want to try and continue using Windows 7 after it is no longer supported. Can anyone tell me if this is possible ? Thanks.

Mod:  Edited Subject line and text to correct date of system.
