Preferred Solution: pc problems errors virus? malware ? severe problems :( p

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My computer has so many problems with it right now. I ran MBAM and S&D a couple times and each time came up with nothing. One of the problems is that my internet seems to be blocked or something. I am using a wireless connection on my laptop right now but on my computer, whenever i open firefox, nothing loads up as if it gets stopped automatically. Other problems are some virus programs being installed, windows XP's interface being changed into some older looking one and my hardrive memory is being drained.

I tried to do a DDS scan but the notepad came up blank everytime.

Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Can anyone assist me please? - Since last Tuesday My home PC has been infected with what I can only assume is a piece of Malware - It pretends to be the windows system advising that I have a Netsky32 virus and need to download some antivirus software to remove it. It then continually opens internet explorer windows and locks my machine up.

I have a HP Pentium 4 machine running windows XP home service pack 2 - I was using Norton antivirus 2008 - I have (since last Tuesday) removed this and replaced it with Spysweeper and Kaspersky 7.0 - Spy sweeper found and removed 4 trojans and 60 tracking cookies on its first safe mode sweep - despite this the problem persists. Kaspersky found an invader trying to infect internet explorer but even when removed it re asserts itself. I had some advise from Spysweeper to run a smitfraudfix in safe mode - this did help temporarily and gave me the opportunity to remove Norton and upload Kaspersky 7.0 which has been preventing the virus re asserting itself however the machine is still overloaded by the Kaspersky software fighting against it.

Any advice?

Hi I'm sorry didn't know what to put for the subject line. I cannot run Win7 it keeps crashing, free2ing up requiring a "cold boot". My computer (Win XP SP3 32-bit with all latest security updates) was recently infected by several viruses. I first noticed that it came to a crawl and then started popping off error messages. I closed down my programs and opened task manager to find over 100 running processes, and over 50 with suspicious names involving a combination of random letters and numbers. I used SUPERAntiSpyware in safe mode which found over 100 trojans. I deleted everything in the local settings/temp folder and windows/temp folders since this stuff often hides out in there. When I rebooted, I got (and still get) 5 "Error loading" messages from rundll32.exe trying to run DLLs I deleted (they *were* all in windows/system32: hjpqq6gxr.dll, oh8qijo.dll, zb3uia6zyl.dll, g58ifw.dll, and vcaezkz66f.dll).

After about 30 seconds from booting into windows, I would get a blue screen of death involving uhwkjbhbm.sys. I googled this file and got zero hits. I tried deleting it in safe mode and safe mode command prompt, but just got the "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file" error. I went into the Recovery Console via Win XP setup CD and was able to delete it. Boot back into windows and now it's stable, but still very infected. HiJackThis and GMER worked, but dds.com gives the "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file" error. I booted into safe mode command prompt and was able to run it as administrator and save the logs, but just know that... Read more

Hello!

IE Problems/Adware (WINDOWS XP)

About a week and a half ago I noticed my boss's computer was lagging. Websites that usually took 3 seconds to load are taking upwards of 5 minutes or more to load (MSN.COM is impossible to load right now!!). Sometimes IE gets stuck and I have to Ctrl Alt Dlt and End Program to even get out of it. I called Bellsouth to see if there was a problem with the DSL line. Nope, they said, not us, call Dell. Called Dell. Two hours on the phone with them deleting cookie files and temp internet files and running spyware programs that did ABSOLUTLEY nothing!! My boss is a realtor and relies on a web based program to run her business. It's terrible when you have clients sitting here for 10 minutes waiting for a webpage to load. I have noticed, but don't know if it's related, that if an AD pops up while I'm browsing, IE will halt nine out of ten times. Then I have to Ctrl Alt Dlt and End Program. If I click on the AD to get it off the screen, IE freezes. I read another thread on this forum about Hijack This. I did download it and below is the log. I already see several files that should not be touched, but I want to eliminate the ones I don't need. I seem to have a particular problem with a file named ttuh.exe. Do you know what this is? The computer will not delete it nor will it quarantine it when I run a scan through McAfee. And of course after I have deleted the unwanted programs, on reboot, they come back. I have n... Read more

I went looking for some older versions of Milestones Professional for work. I thought I had found an older copy but obviously it was full of malware. Grrrr.

I was stupid enough to run the install and ever since then have had numerous problems.

My symptoms are the task bar keeps changing to the classic windows one. I keep getting the svchost.exe error popping up all the time and my Avg and SB won't run or update. An autorun killer I ran said it had detected the recycler virus, but there is still more going on. I am getting errors with my sound devices now, even though the drivers are still in device manager. It appears I no longer have a mixer though. I also just noticed that media player will only play for a very short while and then stop responding.

Since these logs I have uninstalled all malware / antivirus etc except AVG 8.0 and SB. Please advise if I need to do more.

Thankyou!

This type of infection allows hackers to remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge.

If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

I have a malware/virus that is causing havoc with my computer - xp dell dimension.

At first, the malware disabled my ability to open the control panel and any programs in the "start" menu. After running Malwarebytes, I was able to get that back. However, the malware is still there causing major delays in my surfing and other apps. I get redirected quite a bit to this address: http://scanner.micro-av2009.com and http://scanner.rapidantivirus.com. Also, I noticed that Malwarebytes removes lots of infected files, but they come right back after the reboot. There must be some hidden file that spawns all these files after they are removed!!

Additionally, the malware has turned off my ability to download any MS Windows security updates - automatic updates are turned off and I get error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. I have tried to turn it back on repeatedly in "Services," but no success. Additionally, I attempted to follow MS advice at this address: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838428/ However, the directory they are referring to (Legacy_RPCSS) is not present on my directory.

OK, so I decided to take the bitter medicine of just sending my computer back to original factory settings, but this pig of a malware has actually somehow disabled that capability, too!! Can you please help me to resolve? I pasted the Hijack This log below:

My computer has gone nuts, I'd appreciate some help if possible.

Logs below...here are my "symptoms":

Multiple internet explorers self populate until there are about 40 of them, then some ad for a free virus scanner pops up in Firefox. Memory is chewed up to the point of giving errors and application errors pop up on their own along with RUNDLL error boxes.

I've run Malwarebytes in safemode and it "fixed" a lot of stuff, but the problems returned shortly after I rebooted to normal mode. I ran a HJT in safemode and in normal mode (both below). I also ran a full kaspersky scan on my computer (5 hours to complete....log file attached).

My computer is virtually useless at this point if I can't kill this thing. Please help if possible.

My USB ports are not working properly. I have an Antec 300 case with 8 ports in the back, 2 in front. The only pair which will work consistently under Vista (for reasons I don't understand) is the third pair down in the back. That is why I am able to use my mosue and keyboard now.

Trying to find out if this was Vista or hardware related I booted off the Ubuntu disc. I found that all my USB ports worked properly there. I could connect and disconnect, change the ports of devices, all with no problem.
So this leads me to conclude this is not a hardware issue.

I've found if I go into the device manager under USB there are listed 8 with the following name: "Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Enhanced Host Controller." Each has a different letter&number combination next to it. 7 out of the 8 have a yellow triangle next to them. If I uninstall the 7 with the yellow triangle and reboot, the triangles go away and I get back some USB functionality (two front ports will begin to work; but if I try to plug anything into unused back ports, Vista STILL does not see it.)

However, as soon as I reboot again, even if I've made no changes to my USB setup, the 7 yellow triangles are back and the USB ports stop working again.

Under "problem devices" in system information for the Intel Controller there is listed the error code "This device cannot start."

I really need the USB ports working on my computer. If someone could help me out with this I'd really ... Read more

Hi all,

I hope that I put this in the right category, because this is now my last hope of ever getting my computer to work properly! There are several different problems that I want solved and I think that they all have to do with drivers and Win 10.

I bought it around 4 years ago, at that time Win 8 was installed and I used the free upgrade to 10 as soon as that became available. And that's when the problems began...

1. First off, the slow startup. It takes forever to start and the computer itself is much slower on Win 10 than it ever was on 8. I have tried different things online, like disabling fast startup, but the startup still can take a long time, sometimes with just a black screen.

2. 100% disk use. Also a common Win 10 problem from what I've found online, I have tried most solutions I can find for this but it always seems to come back.

3. BSODs. Most often associated with some graphics .sys file (can't remember the name). From what I can find online, there are other HP Envy users that have had this problem (along with the slow startup)

4. Audio unit problems. This is perhaps the biggest issue. I am a music producer and these days I feel that I spend half the time actually producing music and half the time error searching.
I used to have a Scarlett 2i2 which was constantly giving me grief for the 2 years I owned it. I got click and pops, distortion, my audio software could suddenly not find it, etc. I spent months e-mailing with their support, try... Read more

Download (and install, beginning with the chipset) from HP's web site the proper Windows 10 drivers for your PC.

I don't know what a Motu MicrobookIIc is, but I assume that you have to also download/install the latest Windows 10 driver(s) for it from the manufacturer's web site.

I've got a problem. My internet is running slowly/freezing at the slightest touch (but only with Firefox). We can't uninstall anti-virus programs, and we can't install new ones without either situation freezing halfway. I can't run HijackThis OR spyware blaster due to an "Invalid Picture" error. Everything that I'd like to try either freezes up or backfires on me.

Is there anything I can do to fix this malfunction? I run a Windows XP, btw. If you need to know anything else, just ask. And I am above average computer-literate.

Hey guys, first post here!

As of last night, the audio on my computer has slowed down/become distorted/choppy etc. I've downloaded new sound card drivers & mobo drivers, reinstalled my sound card via device manager, as well as reinstalling the IDE. I don't think the amount of processes has much to do with this as it would even do it if the only major program opened was my media player (itunes... =\)

I'm at a complete loss of what to do next, I've never encountered anything like this before!

Here is a speccy shot of my computer system:

Mariska

A:Severe Problems With Registery

Well, are you on line when you get these popups? If so they are more than likely just something that is trying to make you buy their product. If you are just getting these write down what they say and post them here in this thread.

If you are having troubles and real bad ones with your registry I will save you a lot of time here by telling you that you should have some one that can look at the computer do so that knows what and how the registry works. You can believe me it will be worth the time and money that you spend.

The registry is the heart and should of any Windows Operating system and if messed with by anybody that either does not know what they are doing or makes a mistake believe me it will be the last mistake they make just before reinstalling everything.

Hi

I am having complex problems with my windows operating system. I want these resolved instead of a reformat/install because I lost my xp home and professional edition disks and I cannot get another one without paying 175 dollars which I do not have.

The problems listed below happen after I leave my system idle or in standbye for more then one hour at a time. (Understand that you lose connection in standby. I cannot get my internet connection back aftwards and I lose it when not in standby as well)

1. My Internet Connection is Cut off and I am unable to restore it.
2. Control-Alt-Delete produces an error saying that the task manager terminated unexpectedly
3. My desktop Icons stop working
4. I cannot open MyComputer, Any Folders, Run, Msconfig, task manager.
5. Opera, Firefox, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Gecko all refuse to load.
6. My start menu links stop working all except the logoff button.
7. Right clicking on the start button does nothing.
8. My symantec antivirus's auto protect is disabled. and will not reinable nor will the antivirus window open.
9. When I logoff I cannot log on and I get the following error
The server authenticating you reported an error (0xC00000BB)

When these symptoms happen I restart and everything is fine for a while. THen it starts acting up again

If anybody would help it would be greatly appreciated.

Attatched is system information from everest.

Personally i always get a little suspicious when the anti virus gets affected.

But have you loaded any programs lately

Have you run any spy ware. Are you indicating the anti virus stays disabled or does it become available once you reboot?

You might consider running a Hijack This scan in the event you did get infected.
Download Hijack This from http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe

Save the setup file on your desktop
Double click on it and by default it should install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This
Continue through the setup and have it create a desktop icon for you
Follow all the prompts, click Finish, and have it start Hijack This
Click the "Do a System Scan and Save a Log File" option
Save the log file and then it should open with Notepad

Go to Edit, Select All and then Edit, Paste to paste the contents of the log here
Make sure you DO NOT fix anything with Hijack This yet. Most of the things in the log are normal or required.

At least the above can get you started until somebody else with brighter ideas gets back to you.

Hi...
A friend of mine has a MSI K9N SLI-2F, nForce 570 SLI mother board. Lately it's been acting up. The pc won't start up and he has to restart it numerous times before it finally starts up. Once up and running it suddenly freezes and he has to do a new restart again. I tried to help him by inserting the os cd (win xp) and see if it could be a os error, but the dvd rom won't read the cd. Black screen with a error saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in" is all that pops up. The bios recognizes all components including the dvd rom. I set it to first boot device but still nothing:-( I tried other cables etc. to eliminate faulty wires but no...

So my questions are: Anybody got any idea of what this could be? And..does anyone know where i can get my hands on a manual for how to set up the components (thought i'd disconnect everything i start from scratch)?

You may be able to fix the problem like so
In OE tools>options>maintenance
Click on store folder. Now highlight and copy the long address you see there. Be sure to copy the complete address all of it will noT be visible.

Go to run and paste it in ok. Now you will see all the OE folders

Hello,

I have a problem that has been occuring me the day after I formatted my HDD and reinstalled Window XP Pro.

Whenever I tried to click browse for a picture to set as wallpaper in Display Properties, Display Properties simply closes. Sometimes giving an error. (something about having to close explorer because of using it as an application).

I thought I'd simply go the the picture instead then and set it as wallpaper and that works. But then I found out that it wasn't just the browsing there. Whenever I tried browsing for a Windows Live Messenger avatar or background. It would error and shut WLM down. This also happens when I try to look for a picture for my account display pic. I'm pretty sure it applies to more though. How could I fix this? I have no clue on why this suddenly happens or what the problem could be. Help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
MM

*Edit: The error I get with Display Properties from time to time is: "Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."*

*Edit2: I see now. The problem is that My Pictures refuses to work and makes Explorer crash whenever I try to open it. Could it be because I replaced the original My Pictures with one from my other HDD?*

A:Severe 'browse' problems

Hi MM

What led you to reinstall in the first place? Were you seeing errors? Did you suffer a malware attack?

If you were seeing inexplicable errors & decided to reformat as a try at a repair, it's possible that you might have underlying hardware trouble. Invalid page faults and the like are often the symptom of bad RAM, or Bios settings incorrectly set, or over-aggressive overclocking.

If you had a malware attack/infection, and then restored data from the previous install, did you scan the data before restoring it? And did you increase your firewall/antivirus/antispyware/Windows-Update protection? -- You may have been re-infected. If it does turn out you have a stubborn pest, try the 5 steps http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=15968

If you just reinstalled for a performance boost (which I would never recommend with XP) - try it again: but this time, make sure no scanners, cameras, printers, memory card readers, PDAs, etc., or network cables are attached during the install - they can sometimes cause problems.

Instead of replacing the entire My Pictures folder this time, just copy & paste the subfolders in Windows Explorer. You could have run into permission errors by replacing the whole thing from your previous installation.

See if any of this helps
. . . Gary

2)Computer is agonizingly slow at times. When i press cntrl-alt-dlt to see what's running nothing seems out of the ordinary.

3) This morning Malwarebytes detected several versions of Trojan.FakeAlert, Trojan.Ransom, Trojan.QHost.BG, Trojan.FakeAlert. I ran 4 consecutive scans this morning and picked up 7 of these. Windows Security Essentials picked up something this morning but the history seems to be erased. I think it was called "somethingmodifier".

This seems to have happened after I ran system restore. Even when I undid my last restoration the files did not return! Not sure if this is directly related to my virus/browser problem or was my doing.

Hello, I'm having severe problems with my latop and thought I'd try and ask for some help here before I go running to some tech support store. Here is some info on my computer:

Toshiba Tecra M3-S331

Basically, I had my laptop hooked up to my television with an S-video cable and was watching a movie file (I had watched it many times before without any problems) when it froze and horizontal lines appeared on the screen. I restarted and it booted with no problems; I opened the same movie file, tried to play it where I had left off, and the same thing happened, so I decided to leave it off for a few hours.

Now when I try and boot up, nothing appears on the screen, although for all looks and purposes it seems to be booting up (all the correct lights are on, anyway). I hooked it back up to the television, hit Fn+F5 to cycle through the various outputs, and eventually got something to appear on my TV screen (I tried this without attaching it to the TV, and nothing appeared on the screen).

It was in fact (for lack of a better term) the screen you get when Windows shuts off unexpectedly, where it asks if you want to start in Normal or Safe mode...except all the characters are wrong, all blank spaces are replaced with the '' symbol for example; it was all gibberish. Despite this I'm pretty sure I started it in Safe mode, and I got the Windows startup screen. But this was also messed up, because there were sets of three white vertical lines on ... Read more

Hello all, I'm new to these forums and am having a problem with my computer.

It has fairly severe stability issues ( normally crashing 5-10 times in any given day) with a computer I built a few months ago. I'm not overclocking any hardware, and I don't suspect it to be overheating.

Usually while running more than one program and alt-tabing between them, the computer will often flash a blue error screen quickly (too quick for me to read what it says) and reboot, later asking me to send error reports. These error reports usually point towards 'device drivers' and sometimes more specifically 'video drivers.'
At other times it won't show any error, just flash the blue screen and reboot.

Latley it has also started to just stop all together on occasion. No reboot, no error messages, nothing - It just stops. I then have to manually reboot it.

I suspect it to be a driver problem, or some of my hardware is going bad (the computer is less than a year old so i don't know how that could be) but I always have the latest drivers for my video card (these errors happen no matter what driver i download)

Using ad-aware and haven't found any kind of spy ware or any thing similar, i rarely download anything other than drivers anyway.
Like I said previously It's likely not overheating as I'm not overclocking anything and there are plenty of fans (nine) in my computer with good air flow.

(the computer is running strangely slow too, ... Read more

Hi.

First want to thank all those who take the time to read this. The last few weeks have been very frustrating. This is my final effort before I give up and take my laptop to a shop.

All of my browsers (chrome, Mozilla, and IE) are just really really slow. Pages do open eventually, but it routinely takes over 10 minutes. Other laptops on the same wireless connection are fine. Other applications are ok. Malewarebytes, Adaware, Windows defender (all fully updated) find nothing.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire. One of the few that comes pre-installed with Ubuntu only. I bought it in Thailand, the blokes in the shop hooked me up with a patched copy of XP (not very helpful in the long run). When I started having problems with my internet connection, I submitted my HJT log to other forums - where i was advised to get a legal copy of XP. So I dug out an installation CD from my old abondoned desktop, found the activation code and installed it on my laptop -- all legal i believe.

Even with a legal copy of XP installed on my laptop, another forum has closed my thread because they think my OS is illegal. Its very frustrating.

I hope one of the experts here is able to point me towards a solution.

Thanks.

Hello all, I am posting this from a secondary computer due to the problems of my other comp which I am certain is infected with some malware.

First off there are certain websites that my browser will not allot be to visit. These sites are all virus scanning and malware removing websites. When I try to load one the browser will say page cannot be displayed. I have tried navigating to this site and others in firefox, IE, and google chrome, and none of them can connect, but other sites work perfectly fine through the same browser.

So I tried downloading the dos script and gmer through this computer and sending them to my second comp through an email. I received the files, but there is something else blocking .EXE files from running properly. I'm not sure what it is, but when I try to run a file such as gmer.exe I get an hourglass for a second or two and then nothing happens. The same thing happens when I tried to install malware bytes.

These problems all just started in the last few days and I've been trying to find a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please help somebody as it is getting very stressfull and i will end up throwing my pc from my balcony. Thank you

Hello, all -

I recently purchased an Asus Xonar sound card to replace one that went out on me. I'm getting a bit of latency when I play my Yamaha keyboard, since it's hooked up to my computer (Vista 32-bit).

When I attempt to play through my Mixcraft software program (similar to Garageband) - or to record - the latency increases even more.
I've tried adjusting it within the Mixcraft software itself, but have had very limited success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S.--I have what's called a 'low profile' desk computer, for which I had a horrible time finding a sound card that would fit.

Ok. Got some severe problems with a harddrive.

First it said "ntldr is missing." Fine, so I put the recovery disk and copy the ntldr file over.

Then it says ntdetect.com failure. Fine, so I do the same thing but copy over the ntdetect.com file.

Now nothing happens. The computer just restarts over and over again. I run the repair cd and when I do "dir" on the c: drive, the directory looks like a giant jumble of trash. Looks like all the data is there but everything is marked with weird looking characters.

Tried everything, even fixboot etc. Nothing's working. Please help!

Over the past few days my computer has doing all kinds of messed up things, first the time on the windows clock was going way to fast , i went to bed and it was normal woke up and it was 4 hours fast. it has seemed to go back to normal though oddly enough. Also if i change settings under view for a window say in a picture folder, i want to view it as thumbnails and set it to that , a day later it has reverted to something else like list. also this happens in control panel i want it as view as icons but a day or 2 later it will go to tiles by itself. The worst problem which just happened today is now when i right click on anything including the desktop it comes up really slow, this includes as of today anything on the toolbar too like view edit file , on internet explorer though favorites comes up super fast unlike the rest around it. also other things like the start button and folders opening work super fast.
Im sorry for this long post in advance, im hoping this can be fixed , one last question is it possible to reload windows on top of itself and not lose my data but only repair if thats what i need to do? Im sorry im not to computer savvy i relie on you guys so much. Heres my log incase its something in here

Without commenting on your log, the answer to your last paragraph is yes, you can do a repair installation. Set the BIOS menu to boot from CD first and put the XP CD in the drawer. The installation will proceed as though it is a new one but will give you a repair option after a few minutes. Disregard that option and press Enter and you will then be asked to agree to the EULA by presing function 8. Shortly, you will be given another opportunity to repair - this time with a highlight bar over the XP entry. If you have more than one installation, move the highlight to that which you want to repair. The process will then take around 30 minutes during which you will have to re-enter your Product Key.

Your data and most settings will remain in tact but you will probably have to reactivate within three days.

Well I am sitting here writing this message on an old apple laptop because my poor PC is probably about to die.

Last night some problems started to occur, and I've had popups for a while now, but I've always just stayed in offline mode for Internet explorer to stop this problem. I tried to get some software from www.download.com to clear my spyware, and then problems started happening.

It could have been that, it could have been anything, I really don't know.

The name of the program was spyware doctor or something of that nature. Didn't do anything after scanning because it wanted huge amounts of money and didn't show me that it could really delete them just scan for them, so there was no way I was going to register that program. After removing, and a few other operations on the computer I encounted some severe problems.

I have Ewido Anti-Malware and it scanned all night, deleting what said to be 400 some files. Cleaning, quaranting, deleting, and blocking. Well, today to no avail, I have this little boxes with jibberish ontop and it just has the ok button to click, after that it just keeps coming back. I am trying to run program sor get onto the internet, and there seems to be so much going on inside my computer that a full gig of ram is being used for spyware, viruses, and malware.

After a few reboots I am running Ewido again for a last hope, and then going to delete most of my program files and just reinstall if that solves the problem. An... Read more

Ok, I've run Hijack This, CWShredder, Spybot, Macafee Virus Scan, LSPFix, and Ad-Aware at LEAST 50 times each, find hundreds of problems, but they either won't fix, or they come back. I get dozens of pop-ups, my computer tries to go into files on my own system (this one just popped up as I am writing this- C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\~DlfnTmp1\index.html), and the most common site for my computer to try and open is something called 'loadingwebsite.com' or something very similar. Following is my current Hijack This log (the 01 hosts will go away if I click on them but they come back, the BHOs will not go away, neither will that file 'xdgakir, exe' no matter what I do, and I can't find it in a system search. Welcome to TSF.

This one will be more complicated to remove. It will definitely take more than a couple of tries to fix. But hang in there, we will help you resolve this...

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we... Read more

Hey,

I have one laptop and one desktop PC. THe laptop was bought because I couldnt be bothered with the problems that my desctop has.

THing is from the start i had a rather **** computer. I then came into some money, bought a new Quad-core processor, 7200rpm 500gb samsung harddrive, 4gbs of paired ram, a radeon hd 5770 grapgics card and a nice good antec gaming chassis.

The thing is ... this should have sorted my problems. bUt it seems to let them persist. My computers performance in games is fantastic, installing goes like a charm. BUt the thing is i have always had problems with crashing. Regurly i receive the BSOD, or how its called. I had run, defrag, harddrive checks and i have tryed installing on different drives other than the 7200rpm one. (i have 2 slower 500rpm hardrives also connected in. Whereas one of these wont actually stay on, but instead works sometimes but most of the time isn'teven accesable).
Its not during demanding processes. Last time it actually happened during music playback.
Yeah well any feedback would be great. Due to me not really having any good experience in the areA!

Just F.Y.I. the mods will most likely move this to the appropriate BSOD forum. Anyway...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

Hi. I hope someone can help me! I have Win 2000 and been having problems with connection errors and it slows down my computer to a snail's pace! Then I started getting the Randex virus, IRCbot and another in various forms and have been battling that for about 3 weeks. I've run AVG, Spybot and Adware almost on a daily basis and it seems to help for a day, then another virus pops up. I've done a JV16 registry clean-and it didn't seem like much was out of the ordinary-so I didn't delete much. This has been very frustrating! I've done a hijack this log-please advise in easy to understand terms! Thanks!

Let me brief you all on the specs of my computer, custom built by a company that, well, custom builds computers.
MoBo-Asus P5N-E SLI 650i
CPU-Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
GPU-EVGA Nvidia 8800 GT
RAM-2 1GB sticks of RAM
HDD-300 GB Hard Drive
Sound Card-Sound Blaster X-Fi Fata1ity
PSU- 600W

In less than a week, it seems like my entire computer is going down the drain. I got back from a trip last Tuesday, and, since my birthday was near, I figured I'd get Crysis. From that, I decided I'd try to overclock my system. I went into BIOS, and only altered the NB Voltage to 1.56v, and the PCIE clock to 125 Mhz. However, then my comp wouldn't boot, so I took out the CMOS battery, and placed it back in. It booted successfully, and I restored everything in BIOS to default, manually. I thought my troubles were over. I was wrong.

I played Crysis quite well for a while, before crashes occurred, the game freezing, the sound that was just playing looping itself. This repeatedly occurred, and I tried taking and replacing the CMOS battery again, and restoring the defaults in BIOS again. It stopped it for a while, before the game froze again. After booting it back up again, the sound seemed not to work. I wondered, and went to the volume control, moving the thing up and pressing it, to hear if it would do the diagnostic beep type thing. The little 'doot' thing it does. Instead, heavy, incredibly loud static poured through the headphones and speakers I had plugged in. I searched for a so... Read more

Hello,

after I came back from holiday yesterday I switched on my computer for the first time in two weeks. As I progressed through my usual routine - check news, check email - my computer simply froze, starting with Winampradio and quickly progressing until there was nothing left to do but reboot.

Upon reboot, I simply saw the manufacturer's logo and no progession of the computer booting up. I managed to get into the BIOS settings after spamming F2 and waiting a looong time, and switched off the logo. All I see now when I boot up the computer is its self-diagnostics starting and the message
"Memory runs on single channel", followed by a list containing "Master 0" that turns out empty and negative until the computer recognises my CD-ROM drive and my DVD drive.

It seems that my harddisk isn't recognised. I tried popping in a WinXP installation CD and all works well until I pick the option to reinstall, and the program can't find any harddisk space - the entire options menu to select partition and formatting is simply empty.

I'm inclined to believe my computer has contracted a virus of some sort but I'm at a total loss of what to do about it, since I can't really get anything to start up properly enough - not even the WinXP HD formatting utility, since it simply doesn't recognise the harddisk.

Some details about my system that might be relevant:
- Using updates Avast! Antivirus with some live protection utility

Open it up and check all your connections. Remove any dust from cooling fins while you're there. Be sure that all your PCI cards and memory sticks are firmly in their slots.

Try disconnecting from power and removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes to reset its memory. When you first boot after that, you may get a CRC error. If you do, just enter BIOS setup and set it to "default" or whatever the equivalent is.

You're right that you'll get nowhere until the drive is at least recognized by BIOS. Another drive being defective can also be the cause of your system drive being unrecognized, so for testing purposes, try disconnecting all your other drives, even the optical ones, and leave just your system drive connected.

Hi, Let me just run you through my specs first. [thanks in advance if you read it]

Dell, Optiplex GX620 (smallest form)

(ps. I am perfectly happy with everything except my graphics card, game-wise, i checked ww.canyourunit.c.om and found no problems with my RAM ect.)

So here is my problem. Right now i have an 82945G integrated G card. It is terrible so a couple of weeks ago i get a broken laptop off a friend with a GeForce FX 5200 in it so as you might imagine, i want to use it.
One thing is stopping me i believe. My PSU. It is at a discraceful 220W. The thing is there are 4 versions of the optiplex gx620, i have the ULTRA-SMALL-FORM-FACTOR one!! The power is supplied by an AC adapter thing and i have looked online and can't find any higher PSU power supplies for my particular computer.

I Really want to game (sims 3, rome total war, oblivion, left4dead ect.) but cant because of my shitty graphics card so here are my questions:

Is it even physically POSSIBLE to stick the 5200 in my comp??

Would it be retarded doing so?

Are there any higher power supplies for my comp? [include link please]

Any side recommendations??
