IdeaPad 310 15ABR battery problems

Q: IdeaPad 310 15ABR battery problems

I just received my new IdeaPad 310 15ABR and it seems that the battery has some sort of problem because it lasts around 1h30 (or less!). This laptop was replaced because of this battery but now I think it is a problem with the IdeaPad 310 15ABR series. I was going to calibrate the battery with the aid of Lenovo Settings app, but my version (3.155.0.0) doesn't have the calibration button. How can I calibrate the battery within this version?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I received my IdeaPad 310-15ABR on December 1st and on December 2nd I called in a ticket and was left a little dissatisfied on the troubleshooting abilities of tech support.  I was experiencing a battery drain faster than I would expect. When unplugged I am getting maybe about 3 hours of use - this is with power saver settings activated and really only web browsing and such. No mega gaming or movies etc So when I called tech, they immedietaly told me to send back the laptop - but at my own expense which to me seems odd, why should I pay to send Lenovo my defective new machine? After getting off the phone I did my own research and found that "location" was on, so I turned it off and that bought me some time on the battery - not a lot... but enough for me to realize that I needed to test this machine out on my own for a week or two before sending it back.  So I am about to send it back, but I am wondering - how long are you getting on your battery for the same machine? I don't want to send it back if what I am getting is unfortunately the reality of what I should be getting.

I bought an ideapad 310-15ABR 4 months ago brand new and within less than 2 months it died on me completely. I then received another brand new one for a replacement a week later. Now it has been another 2 months and I am having problems with this one as well! Around 2 times a week it will suddenly reset on its own while I am using it with no warning. No updates are occuring and it is always charged. No idea what is going on but I have lost several things I was doing because of it. Wondering now if I need another replacement or just a refund to buy a better brand. If anyone knows what is causing this I would appreciate the assistance. Needless to say though I am not very impressed with the Lenovo brand after this. My first and almost definitely last Lenovo purchase...

I love Lenovo. Let me get this out of the way to start. I have had a Toshiba (holy crap, a terrible laptop build quality), Dell (great CS but the laptop needed a new piece of hardware about every three months. Went through at least 5 MoBos over the course of four years), then finally a Lenovo. The Lenovo was a CHAMP. I brought it everywhere and tortured it within an inch of its life and it stood the test. It stood up to ART SCHOOL, if that is not an indication of quality, I don't know what is. Hence why I bought another. And another. And now this one. I have been surprisingly gentle with this one which is why I am so aggravated by the CONSTANT grinding fan noise. This sucker is less than a year old and still in warranty. This may be fixed by a BiOS thing but considering the type of noise, I am thinking it is hardware. As the battery is sealed, I am hesitant to take this thing apart to check out the fan by hand. So, my question is: Is it possible to get a laptop bought in the USA serviced in Japan? If not, what is the part SKU for the fan so I can just install it myself? Also, a point in the direction of the BiOS/driver/whatever update that is supposed to fix this would be appreciated for the first step. And before you tell me, I know servicing my own laptop will void the warranty. I don't care. I am very good with computers and have been tearing apart and fixing laptops since I got my first one at 13. I would not date doing a fu... Read more

so, I just got a new laptop, cause the last HP i Had finally broke down. unfortunately it broke down before i could back up anything off the hard drive. So i found the old hard drive from my HP pavillion G7 17' notebook. the hard drive is a toshiba MQ01ABD075. The laptop originally was using windows 7 OS, but i later upgraded it to windows 10. I was wondering if i would be able to use this hard drive in my IdeaPad, without having to re-install windows 7 or 10 from a USB/ windows Disc? would it be easier to just purchase a hard drive adapter and just download everthing i need from the HD?

Hello I've got IdePad 310-15ABR from this link:http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ie/pl/products/laptops-and-netbooks/300-series/310-15abr/80st/80st002kuk... My question is: Is it possible to use empty space of disc drive to add second drive or dvd/bluray drive or not?? I'm talking about space that's normally occupied by dvd drive but I've got model without it so wondering about this thing. It's on the right side of the laptop. Regards, Horacy.

A:ideapad 310-15abr is it possible to add 2nd hdd or dvd drive?

You would have to search to see if their is a adaptor available. I know I have bought a optical slot adaptor for a drive. But that was for a ThinkPad which I think has more options then the consumer line IdealPads. Probably your best bet is a big flash drive, or a external drive. But search third parties because you could possible buy the adaptor and crudely install a drive in the optical. So many optical drives are thin drives these days, so space may be a issues.

Dear experts,First of all, this laptop is come with Windows 10 64-bit. However due to my working nature, I would like to format it and make it to Windows Server 2008 R2. I tried to access thru the Lenovo Support but it only have Win 10 64-bit driver available for me to download. I am not even can get the Windows 7 either. Can anyone give me the specification for the hardware for me to download maybe from third party website or do Lenovo has those older OS version driver for me to download? Thanks. p/s: I heard Win 7 driver can be used for win server 2008 r2, so it might be good if i can get Win 7 64bit, but the best will be getting the win server 2008 instead. Thanks.

I just purchased this new laptop a couple of days ago and love it other than one thing that is annoying the crap out of me. The screen is too dim when unplugged. It is great when plugged in, but dims quite a bit when it is not. I have the brightness at 100% for both the on battery and plugged in settings so I have no idea how they vary so much. I have it set for high performance, not power saver. The battery saver is also off. I have looked all over the internet and found no useful info.

Hello!I have one questionIf I keep my laptop connected to the A/C and turn the Conservation Mode on (and get fully charged to the 60%) would the laptop be consuming energy from the battery or from the AC power?I mean, I bought this laptop about 3 months ago (IDEAPAD 310-15ABR) I used to have an HP with a removable battery and since I'm almost always sitted on a desk, I kept the laptop pluged and with no battery (I removed the battery), I wanted to do the same with this one but it doesn't have a removable battery. What I would like to know is if I keep my Lenovo connected and with the coservation mode on, is it ok? would it affect the battery at some point? keeping it pluged when its fully charged means it is working with the AC power and not with the battery power? Thank you! So before I go off and bother help and support, I just wanted to ask and see if this is the normal way my computer should be behaving.1) battery: so the battery on this isn't great, i'm usually plugged in and on low power mode just to try to make it though a single college lecture. Even just on a good day 100% to 5% (powersaver) and usiing just word, will only last about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Also, when running anything high demanding and the battery is lower than 40% not plugged in, the computer will always restart and give a kernal error and no other information. Luckily it has not been getting worse, but realistically I can only get 40 minutes of life on high performance out of this thing.2) hard drive: So not a big complaint but It says it has 1Tb hard drive space, but it only ever showed I had 891Gb on C: and 25gb on Lenovo D:not that I mind that much but I did see another complaint who said he got a small compensation when that happened to him. not that this isn't a pricy laptop to begin with and I even feel bad complaining right now when the price was so great.3) touch pad: I might be doing something wrong but these buttons on the bottom of the touch pad are just for show to me. Other than make a loud clicking noise they literally do nothing on terms of input. I just wanted to know if they are actually buttons for the touch pad? or if I'm just insane haha

Hey all, As said in the title, my laptop sometimes turns off when closed. Note that this does not happen every time, and I don't think there's any correlation between how long it was closed and whether it turns off. I have the settings such that it should just sleep when turned off (whether plugged or unplugged). Any fixes for this? Thanks.

Hello! My ideapad Ive had for less than 6 months isnt really turning on. I can hot the power button or Novo button and the back light turns on, but it gets stuck at a blank, black screen with a single underscore of white  (Im thinking its stuck at the wall of text that usually starts before the logo). It worked fine yesterday. I was trying to start up a game and it qouldnt load, so I just closed out and reatarted my computer. When it came back up it was just this black screen with the single white underscore. Ive tried to factory reset it every way I know how. I have accepted that Ill likely lose what I have saved and just want my laptop to turn on again. Again, it doesnt get to the logo.

I have a new Lenovo Ideapad 310-15abr, Windows 10, 64 bit, AMD with a Radeon 7 graphics card, with a display problem. When I unplug the power (so it's on battery), the screen dims. So I went to Power Options and changed the power plan both on and off battery so the screen is at 100 percent brightness. Didn't work. Tried a Custom Plan and then went back to a High Performance plan. I turned off Adaptive brightness; disabled the Sensor Monitoring service; updated the Graphic Card driver;disabled and then enabled the Graphic Card again. Turned off Lenovo's Power Options called Power Stretch and Conservation mode.  Also updated the AMD VGA driver.  Nothing works. Still dim when on battery. One thing that I have NOT triedit is changing the registry value by using Regedit command and changing the Feature Test Control. I didn't try it for two reasons. One is that I'm not sure what to reset it to (I've seen "ffff" as the setting and something else longer and more complicated). The other reason is that I am too much of a dumbie to be messing with registry values, basically. I've seen this question asked a couple of times, but no very definitive answers. People usually just tell you to change the Power and Sleep settings so the brightness is on 100% when On Battery.  So that answer is not necessary, but ANY OTHER ANSWERS would be welcome!  Thanks -- Ken

I've had my Windows 10 Ideapad for about a month, and have had no problems with it.  This morning, when I turned it on, I got a message saying the battery needed to be charged and showed it was down to 10%.  I turned it off and plugged it in.  After 5+ hours, it will now not boot up at all.  The little light next to the plug is on and so is the one that is the system status indicator.  Aside from those 2 lights, there is nothing - no light, no sound, nada.  I tried holding the power button down for 30+ seconds - still nothing. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi, I have had my Ideapad for about a month now and it doesnt seem to turn on. The white charging LED is on when connected to A/C and I can hear the fan come on, the screen flickers when i press the power button, but then after a minute or so everything powers down before I even make it to the lenovo or windows login screens. No sign of bios. I have read somewhere that i could try to take out the battery and start up the laptop without it, to try and clear static charge, but i'm not keen to take it all apart before I get some advice! James

On the left side of your laptop, between the combo jack and card reader, there is small button called the NOVO button (see page 6 of this manual)   With the laptop powered completely off, try pressing that button (using the tip of a pen etc.) until the laptop turns on.     If it works as expected, you laptop should load up a menu with the options to run Lenovo OneKey Recovery, enter the BIOS setup utility, or to enter the Boot menu.     If the menu loads, see if you can enter the BIOS setup utility.. and then report back.

The on page 7 of the user's guide that came with my new laptop it says that my Ideapad 320-15ABR, "supports USB 3.1 (Gen1, Output 5V ds, 0.9A DC)".  I purchased a SanDisk Ultra Type-C 3.1 flash drive.  However, when I tested the drive it did not perform any better than a Type-A 3.0.  The attached photo shows the results of benchmark tests on both drives.ATTO Disk Benchmark results I also did some crude tests by moving large files to both drives and clocking the time it took to transfer the file.  Transfer time to and from both drives was about equal. I called Lenovo Technial Support and spoke with John.  I gave him this information and, after a minute or so, he told me that my laptop did not have USB 3.1 and that the documentation was wrong. I find this hard to believe.  So my question is does the Lenovo Ideapad 320-15ABR support USB 3.1? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'm having a problem with my laptop restarting randomly of late. It's been ongoing for the past several weeks. Recently, my computer updated to the latest version of Windows 10. (Version 1709) I can't recall if it occurred prior to that. I believe this has started after that. But before that update, I did have to factory reset my computer in Novemeber after a failed graphics driver update. It's not an issue I can trigger. It could happen shortly after stating up the computer, or it could occur after many hours being on. I did a hardware scan through the Lenovo Vantage app, and everything came up okay aside from the motherboard scan, which failed on the USB test. (Result code: WMB008008-UN7VDL) My computer is up-to date with the latest updates according to Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update. Anyway, this is a very annoying issue. So any help that can be offered to resolve it is very appreicated.

Oh dear, it's one of those windows update problems again. No, don't blame Lenovo for this, Microsoft has to be blamed for all of these windows updates without us being notified they are being downloaded and installed. Worse they may get corrupt if something goes wrong. After hours of purchase of my Lenovo Ideapad 320 nearly crashed, my windows task bar wasn't working. That was just literally after the windows update. I tried to restart but took a very long time, I force shut down it instead.Luckily I was able to fix it, and the only issue left now is that I have to run command ctfmon.exe all the time just to make the search bar work. It wouldn't type for some reason, so I have to run command it every time I boot this laptop. I would never windows update my laptop again, and I will only update it, whenever I want to. I will update it manually. My friend too had experienced this as well, the windows update made his Acer Gaming Laptop corrupt and wouldn't even boot well enough to reach the login screen. He brought it to the repair shop, and they fixed the problem. Take note, the windows update was installed on his SSD Drive. To your problem, I would suggest to boot your computer to safe mode and restore point to the time before the windows update occurred. That would be the best option. You can also scan your Hard Drive through Command Prompt (the sfc/scannow) if there are corrupted files. If you want to, you may need to repair and reinstall Windows 10. Hey guys,I've recently purchased this laptop, but I can't seem to make it work as I would expect it to work. So the thing is, I bought this laptop for learning purposes, but also for gaming. I didn't have big expectations, because this is not a gamer laptop, but it does have decent specs. I think the problem might be with the drivers, because even if I change the graphics in-game, the fps doesn't  change, I get the same fps in League of legends with very low settings and with high-medium settings, and also get constant fps-spikes, or some other games can't even detect my secondary gpu(for example: Path of the exile, Civ VI, none of these are very demanding games). The things I tried:downloading drivers from lenovo websitetrying to update these drivers with through radeon settingsclearing all the drivers, and using auto-detect of amd to download new driversmessing around with radeon settings options(assigning gpus to programs/setting priority to them)checking if it was a temperature issue(nothing went above 60 °C)I also want to add, that I tried most of these right after installing windows on my laptop, so it was relatively clean. Please tell me, what I can do to make it work, or if I should give up, because thats what this laptop has to offer. Thank you in advance,Tamás My specs:ProcessorAMD A12-9720P RADEON R7, 12 COMPUTE CORES 4C+8G Video CardAMD Radeon R7 Graphics Video Card #2AMD Radeon R8 M535DX RAM4.0 GB Operating Syste... I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15ABR two or three months ago from a Best Buy in the area, and recently I've been having issues where the computer will just freeze. Basically what happens is that I will be doing something, like watching a video or playing some game, and then after a while the computer will freeze, forcing me to shut down the computer manually by holding down the power button for a few seconds, which I know is not good for the computer. Recently, I've also had issues with the computer even freezing after a couple hours of being idle. I got this laptop so I could do work on my college assignments and also be able to get some gaming capability out of it as well, as it's better than the laptop I had initially, and I would like to get this figured out. Any help would be really appreciated.

Over the last few months (since December 2017) my IdeaPad 310 has been auto-restarting randomly.I did a hardware scan through the Lenovo Solution Center, and everything came up okay aside from the motherboard scan, which failed on the USB test. (Result code: W1B7MTXKX-JRBFMC).I am not tech savvy and my warranty has ended. This has become frustrating as I have lost lots of work. Does anyone have a similar issue or solution?Thank you!

I bought this laptop exactly a year ago and it's starting run quite slow (restart time is 2:30) which is pretty frustrating. It has 1TB HDD which is plenty of space. I have been thinking about replacing my optical drive (which I have never used) with a caddy and SSD to use as the boot drive. I am plan on using Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (SATA III). I have a few questions about the process. Is this storage compatible with the laptop? What SATA port does the optical bay have? (SATA II or SATA III)Would it be better for some reason to swap the HD with the SSD and use the HD with a caddy? Or any other compatibility issues anyone can point out? I just want to make sure I cover all my bases before I go out an buy the SSD and caddy.Caddy I am planing on using

I have buy a Lenovo 310 15ABR that after 6 month have some problem with graphic card AMD Radeon R6 M435DX 2Gb.Problem starting with driver crash, then after driver upgrade crash continue and finally R6 hardware appear to be disconnected and PC work only with R5 512MB integrate graphic card. Into Task Manager was present 2 GPU, all R5, never R6. And if i change on BIOS video card from "dual Graphic card" to "switchable graphic card" i have various problem at notebook starting. I send the PC to support indicating R6 problem and after 20 day they returned the PC under warranty with motherboard changed... not video card.Starting the notebook AMD video card driver was old, R6 is present. After few days notebook starting with BSOD with PC restarting and my work on notebook lost.I have try to upgrade AMD graphic card driver and i continue to have blue screen of death. BSOD says is a stuck driver process. With BSOD viewer i see that there are 3 driver indicated:atikmdag.sysdxgkrnl.sysntoskrnl.exe Problem is not solved! On my enterprise was excited that i buy a lenovo online. Now i "lost my face" and they says of don't buy never again lenovo online.Good work...

This is a new laptop. Phisic power button problem. I've set it to turn off the computer in Power options in Windows 10, but pressing it does nothing! I have to hold it for few seconds to force system to turn off but it won't turn off normally on a normal short press. At least, it does turn on the computer though. I've set both battery and plugged in action for power button to "shut down", it is not "do nothing". All driver updated. Everything is up to date. What is the problem?

So I am trying to change the boot logo on the said laptop, The New Graphic one with the weird design, just google Ugly lenovo logo. so I downloaded a basic logo and converted it to a 16 bit bmp images less than 20kb and i am using the lenovo supplied Pheonixtools SCT flash for windows program, The working folder has, the BIOS.cap file, the rsp file which defines the parameters for the flash,  and the 32 and 64 bit GUI and dos exe and another dosflash file. to this i added my logo file which is l.bmp... now when ever from cmd i run the command "Winflash64.exe /logo l.bmp" it automatically detects the Bios.cap file and the Image but the process always fails at "SecureFlash Verification Fail", going through the help page doesnt help as there is no parameter to skip the file verification except for skipping the Date and time check of the bios....  any halp please !!!
