I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

if your just trying to do a "factory reset" try powering on then press the ctrl key and the f11 key at the same time (at the dell logo), should get you a pc restore screen, follow the instructions...good luckps, if you have a manual, the key configuration may be different...

The Troubleshoot icon that should be under the 'Advanced Startup' Option is missing. System is a new Dell Latitude 10 ST2 Tablet running Windows 8. Have access to 9 other identical tablets, all configured the same and they all have the Troubleshoot Option. Have tried multiple methods of getting to "Advanced Startup" display (including Safe mode, 'shutdown /r /o', etc.), but all result in only having the 'Continue', 'Use a Device', and 'Turn Off your PC' options - No Troubleshoot. Other than missing this icon, system is working fine. Shy of wiping the disk and starting over, any suggestions? Thanks!

A:Aspire V3-574G New BIOS v1.35

The reply from Acer on my inquiry about this issue: First, please be guidede that BIOS updating is actually one procedure that we highly do not just recommend owners to do on their own unless they are willing enough to take the risk of having the possible breakdown and harm that BIOS updating can do which is no longer reversible and will totally damage the board. Now as for the BIOS contents if you will notice in the selection portion of our website for drivers support, each models are specified in different variants which carry different hardware package where some has the NVIDIA and the other does not have NVIDIA but regardless of the model under the V3-575 series you select, they all carry the same BIOS versions. The BIOS developer is only stating that the said version already carry the new BIOS version for the unit who uses the Nvidia 920M GPU and if not it will not be of use.

Hi everyone,i have an Acer Aspire V3-574G-7683, and i would like to know the key (or combination of keys) to access the BIOS when you boot the computer.I have had issues with my computer (hard drive usage to 99 or 100%, with my computer getting extremely slow, to the point i couldn't go on the Acer recovery program on Windows 8.1 - my system is 8.1 64 bits) and luckily i could read (it worked on my computer) that if you do ALT + F10 (i did both keys, maybe only F10 was enough i can't know) at the beginning of the boot you can access the recovery to get your computer back on the factory settings. But here is my question : what if i want to replace the HDD (it's a 1To 5400rpm) to get the SSD i bought (Crucial MX300 750Go), would i be able to copy the content of my HDD (what i have on my HDD is clearly less than the 750Go of my SSD) + the partition that is used for the recovery (saved me today ) with the software Acronis True Image HD (given with the Crucial SSD) so that whenever i need to use the Acer Recovery in the future i will be able to do it from the SSD like it's possible on the HDD my computer came with ? Last question : if i want to do a clean install of windows 8.1 or 10 (not use the Acer Recovery) i need to make a bootable DVD or USB drive with either Windows 8.1 or 10 downloaded from the ISO Microsoft puts on his website ?And then i boot (what key allows me to get to the BIOS when booting the computer ? thanks) from the bootable DVD or USB drive i made fro... Hey,
I have a HP Pavilion notebook. A bit older I think. It had built in windows Vista Home Premium. Somehow my hard disk crashed and I bought a new one. I installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and updated to service pack 1. I made a system image using windows default recovery console. Everything was fine. But today I needed to restore my computer to a previous restore point. Every time I press F8 to get to the advanced boot option I see everything is okay except the "repair your computer" option. Somehow the "repair your computer" option disappeared. I tried ctrl+F11 button and the F11 button too. F11 button worked for my previous vista home premium but for Win-7 it's the F8 key. Can anyone help me with this please? How may I get the "repair your computer" option back? Is there any way to edit advanced to boot option to get that option back? I would be needing it in case of system image recovery. Please I don't want to reinstall the O/S once again. Please somebody help me.

A:Advanced boot option doesn't show the option "repair your computer"!

On my clean OS install, the "repair your computer" option also does not appear in the F8 Advanced Boot Options list.
The option does appear on my ACER PC.

You can access this option by booting from a System Repair CD/DVD. A system repair CD is a must have.

I have used 'Advanced Startup Option' and 'System Restore' a few weeks ago and everything worked fine.

Yesterday, I tried to log in to Windows and typed password and Windows said the password is incorrect. Hence, I now cannot log in to my computer.

I tried to use 'Safe mode', so I have pressed 'Shift' + 'Restart' (from this log in screen) to enter 'Advanced Startup Option' menu. There I can navigate through menu, but when I get to the screen where I want to use 'System Restore' or 'System Refresh' or even start computer in 'Safe mode' or 'Debugging mode', the system reboots itself and I am back to my login screen where password doesn't work.

I have w7 ultimate x64, a recent upgrade from Vista x86. However i can't find the "advanced search" options, whereby previously in vista, I right clicked on the drive or folder I want to search then I could input my search parameters.

Windows 7 seems to have extremely poor search capabilities, because I can't specify a lot of things like I did before.

For example I am unable to set the search to files more than 1gb in size, because there is only "gigantic" which is pathetically small at 128mb.

How to fix this?

A:Where is advanced search option?

Click Start then Computer.

When the window below opens select drive you wish to Search then enter query in top right where it says Search.

Search bar at the start menu is a bit more limited.

I just finally done away with Windows XP and used the easy transfer tool to store my user accounts to be put back on the new Windows 7 system... Now that i have installed most of my programs and set my settings, ive decided that i dont want to move all of the user account stuff to my new windows 7 machine

My Question is, (can i use the Easy transfer Tool "advance option" when i connect it to the new windows 7 and only transfer my photos, music and internet explorer favorites from the user accounts).... I dont want my settings affected in anyway..... Ive created a restore point so i could go back to it just in case something went wrong but wanted some advice before i connected the easy transfer up to the new windows 7...

Thank You All For Your Help

A:Easy Transfer Too Advanced Option

You say "photos, music, and Internet Explorer favorites".

You don't need Easy Transfer to move that stuff around. I'd think it would be an unnecessary complication for that purpose.

Are you locked into Easy Transfer and no longer have direct access to the original copies or backups of those 3 things?

Hi I am posting this for a friend, his advanced boot menu pops up every time his laptop is started even though it shuts down correctly. Windows 7 OS, It is up to date Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

A:Windows 7 advanced boot option

Ask your friend to go Start - type msconfig - press Enter and under the General tab that Normal startup is checked and/or under the Boot tab that Safe boot is unchecked.

If they are as they should be, then select Repair your Computer when in the Advanced boot mode and navigate to the Recovery Environment to select Startup Repair.

If that returns that it is unable to auto repair then run the Startup Repair another twice to see if that resolves.

Let us know if either msconfig or the Startup Repair fail to resolve.

Hi I seen that this should be ticked on other forums but just wanted make sure here as this forum seems to no what your doing more and seems more legit. But does PCI lock need to be ticked or un ticked in boot advanced option. I no that leaving number of processors and maximum memory un ticked uses auto but if I chose to use all 8 processors my self and maximum memory could this improve system just incase auto not using them all or working right?.

Main question though is PCI Clock.
Thanks.

A:PCI lock boot advanced option?.

PCI lock or clock? very confusing post.

If that option is what I am thinking is, then do not mess with it unless you want to risk burning your PCI-e devices/corrupt hard disk

Default clock is 100Mhz, and almost only increased by experienced overclockers sometimes to ensure stability. Most of the time it is manually set to 100Mhz so it doesn't scale with FSB (Front Side Bus) speed.

I am not a overclock person though, (I will ask help regarding this in due time) so if I am wrong friends will correct.

I've seen a tutorial before that if you're using a Processor to check on "Number of Processors" and select 2 supposedly it helps booting up into Windows faster.

How about the "Maximum Memory"?
Do you think it'll help if I used all the memory to boot Windows?

and if not, what do you think it's good for?

A:Boot Advanced Option (Maximum Memory)

Those options are present for testing configuration options (software testing, driver testing, debugging).

Any reference to setting these options to aid in booting or increasing system performance is nonsense.

The settings are there to limit performance, not to increase it.

On a friend's computer, when I access the advanced boot menu using F8, the repair your computer option is missing. I found this info on a Microsoft page:

Repair your computer
Shows a list of system recovery tools you can use to repair startup problems, run diagnostics, or restore your system. This option is available only if the tools are installed on your computer's hard disk.

Does anyone know if these tools can be installed on a computer that is missing them? This is an Asus laptop.

Thanks

I was wondering if it is possible to programmatically change the Advanced Sharing -> Homegroup connections option? I would like to run a script to set it to "Use User account and passwords to connect to other computers".
I have looked around at different registry settings and the group policy editor and haven't found it yet.
Appreciate the input. Much thanks.

When accessing the Windows 8 Advanced Startup Options (ASO), I am expecting to see a menu option called Troubleshoot – see screenshot (from Microsoft).

..but when I access this screen on my brand new Windows 8 XPS12, the Troubleshoot menu item is not displayed – see screenshot.

This is contrary to standard Windows 8 functionality.
I would be grateful for any advice on getting access to the Troubleshoot menu of Windows 8 ASO. Thanks!

Regards,
David.

A:Troubleshoot option missing from Windows 8 Advanced Startup Options (ASO) on XPS12

Hi David,
I appreciate your efforts for providing the screenshots of Windows 8 Advanced Startup Options. Please follow the steps that I have provided below to start the computer again with Advanced Startup Options and check if the “Troubleshoot” icon appears:
1. On the Windows 8 Desktop, open the Charms Bar by moving the mouse pointer to the top right corner of the screen.2. Click on “Settings” and the click on the “Power” icon.3. Hold down the “Shift Key” and click “Restart”.4. Windows 8 will load the Advanced Startup Options.
Please let me know if the “Troubleshoot” icon appears.

I have a VN7-572G. The presented BIOS settings are sort of lackluster for a gaming laptop and I know what I'm doing enough to tinker with more advanced settings. I've examined the BIOS for this laptop and there are a ton of locked-away settings. Unfortunately, there is some sort of BIOS security implemented that prevents me from just flashing a modified BIOS onto this laptop. Is there perhaps some sort of way to officially access more advanced settings or any way of requesting one from Acer?

Hi All,
Tried to find a similar issue in the forums first. Forgive me if I this is a repeat afterall.
I got an Optiplex 9010 I7-3770 SFF (VPro) used desktop recently to put into my cloud in the lab. Normally I simply check the cover again (AMT #1) and move on with the MBEx selection after F12 during boot. This one is not working as expected. Here is the sequence of events:
1. Power on the computer and F12 to get the boot options/list.
2. I can see the Intel Management Engine BIOS Extensions option there. I select and press ENTER.
3. Screen disappears, but comes back now "without" the Intel Management Engine BIOS Extensions option! At the top is states that "Note, some options have been removed as they are no longer valid.".
I have not seen this before. IF it is disabled, why show it...
But in any case, the question I have is, how can I get this option to work so I can provision this box using Intel AMT/MBEx settings. The machine is enabled for MBEx (AMT #1 on the inside chasis cover).
The BIOS revision for this box is A14. I may need to update it as well. Though I am going to wait for any responses before doing so.
Thank you all.
