[BIOS] Intel Extreme Tuning Utility(XTU) support for X1 Carbon

Q: [BIOS] Intel Extreme Tuning Utility(XTU) support for X1 Carbon

Hello! Does X1 Carbon support Intel XTU? When I run one, I cannot see any controls for CPU voltage/ratio/etc. I also cannot see controls for Intel HD graphics tuning. How can it be solved?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have a p50 with 6820hq and i'm trying to use XTU to get a little bit more of performance. However, there are some problems. The bios is 1.30 and 1.31.1) Watchdog is disabled. Is there a way to enable that? If not could lenovo add that to the bios? Now, XTU settings expires everytime I reboot.2) When running single thread, the CPU can only reach 3.6Ghz, while on the XTU, it is said to be possible to reach 4.0Ghz. Thank You

Hi.
I would appreciate if someone could help me to obtain better performance for my laptop computer and tell me which settings should i use within Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility, in the BIOS i am unable to locate settings for CPU multiplier or PCi and PCIe.
I'm asking for help obtaining better performance because my computer crashes starting a game which my system is at least compatible with it's minimum system requirements, i managed to understand it is due to a failed attempt of my system to reset the display driver and recover from timeout so i would also appreciate any help on getting past this issue.

Below is the information from the recommended utility.

I've seen that even after official uninstaller a lot of garbage is left on the HD, XTUService running etc...
Who knows exactly what and where to remove if you want to finally get rid of this tool?

I deleted the service with SC DELETE but "C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility" can't be deleted because of some files still locked...

Can't find a guide or a thread about this.

Hi everyone, I have just purchased an Asus ROG G751 gaming laptop and used Asus and everything has gone perfectly. However windows update managed to sneak this past me :

Intel - Other hardware - Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility Device Driver

Installation date: ‎25/‎06/‎2015 18:10

Installation status: Succeeded

Update type: Optional

Intel Other hardware software update released in February, 2015

This is (I presume) is the reason Intel ETU wont install, please see the image for details of the problem. This has started to drive me crazy, so any help is much appreciated

A:Intel Extreme Tuning Utility service cannot be installed

I am having same problem with an MSI Z87 motherboard fresh complete installation. The optional apparently related windows update driver does not install on multiple attempts nor does it fail. It disappeared only to reappear when checking for updates. The reinstall went breezily and to plan so this problem is unexpected. Its just set aside for the moment.

Checking my systems' reliability in the Windows 7 'Reliability Monitor' I have noticed a daily 'critical event'. The error report is as follows:

Now it doesn't seem to affect anything I do, but seeing's as this was a clean install just last week, and it's the only problem apparent, I'd like to get it sorted. Plus it's labelled a 'critical event' which somewhat concerns me.

It gets 'reported' to windows via the 'check for solutions' button on a daily basis, but I don't expect that does anything really.

Has anyone seen this, know what this means or how I can fix it?
Thank you for reading.

A:Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, PerfTuneService.exe stops working

Haven't seen it, but the usual solution for errors of this sort is:
- download a fresh copy of the program from the Intel Download Center ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com )
- uninstall the current version from your system
- install the freshly downloaded copy
- monitor for further errors

Just FYI - if you are overclocking, you can expect odd/unexplained errors because you're pushing the hardware past it's intended usage.

Intel Extreme Graphics 2 XGA 1280x800 support?

Hi, im new here and i really have searched hard for many weeks to resolve this issue to no avail. I will be very impressed if someone can help.

Im having problems with intel 855gme graphics drivers (Intel extreme graphics 2) on my clevo M12CW/M121W/M120W (4 yrs old, XGA 1200x800) and dont know where to turn.
The basic driver that came with the computer, regularily when i open a browser window or video window, the screen goes stripey grey. Everything seems to be fine underneath as i can shut down with no problems but no screen until i reboot.

I installed the latest drivers (and tried those inbetween to no avail) and this seems to overcome this problem but there seems to be no support for XGA resolution.

The new driver says in display>settings that monitor is digital flat monitor 1280 x 1024, but my screen is 1280 x 800 (XGA) and there is no option to change that. The only resolution that is usable is 1280 x 768, which fits the screen, but the text and icons are slightly distorted.

Ive searched all driver sites, intel drivers and the give the same driver for the GM and GME.
Is there any other drivers i could possible use for this resolution or is there one i can't find.
Im running Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0, would an upgrade resolve this (excuse my ignorance on this one, i don't know much about BIOS upgrade and will have to read up)
There must be others with this model that have had similar issues over the ... Read more

I purchased a IdeaCentre 710-25ISH model 90FB0001US from a Bestbuy in store on Jan. '17. I took note of what was installed before looking for the RAM I want and fond two sticks of Ramaxel Technology 4GB DDR4-2400 part# RMUA5120MB86H9F-2400 and was in fact running in daul channel mode of 1200Mhz each as that what Piriform's Speccy showed me of which I have a screenshot below.I didn't want wait to upgrade the RAM so two weeks later I purchased a four stick kit of G.SKILL Value 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-16GNT from Newegg. After installing the RAM I found them running in the standard 2133Mhz, than went on to learned a lot about XMP, that I would need to enable XMP in the BIOS, I checked this machine motherboard's Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and don't see anything about XMP. So as the subject title states "Does Lenovo support Intel's Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)?" how do I enable it and if not how's it possible this machine had from the factory (manufactured Nov. '16) enable XMP to have the thier RAM running at 2400Mhz? Also, who is Ramaxel Technology?

I have a Dell 8700 (Intel Z87 chipset) I recently purchased an Intel 600p SSD (M2) along w/ a PCI to M2 adapter.
While the SSD drive was recognized by Windows (10), it was not recognized by the BIOS.  My system is configured for legacy boot, and from what I've read a boot to a PCI SSD would only be supported by UFEI.  I'd be willing to reinstall Windows and change my boot mode, but, from all that I've read the current BIOS A11 on the Z87 w/ UFEI still would not support a boot to a PCI SSD.
Any chance there will be a BIOS update in the future, or would I need to go to a SATA SSD?
Thanks,

Hi, I purchased the X1 Carbon Yoga approximately 6 months ago and i must say I'm highly disappointed. For a flagship laptop the battery life is appalling, with my device struggling to get 4 hours with a moderate load of browsing and office productivity and at 60% brightness well shy of the 10+ hours promised and well under any reasonable measure for an ultrabook. Ive once had the battery replaced as the device originally struggled to even give me 2 hours under battery and when i apply a light pressure to the keyboard "rest" it makes a lovely grinding noise.. On paper this is a fantatsic device OLED monitor, 360 degree screen but living with it is terrible. The fingerprint scanner often doesnt pick up my finger and requires some time to figure it out and the carbon fibre gets so DIRTY. Its near impossible to keep it clean without the oils from your fingers staining it.  I'm at a loss what to do as i believe this device just cant be improved or fixed. It's just terrible at a price point of over $3,000. akooch

Alright, I'm going to be very specific.

I want to hear responses from people that have the Intel Extreme Edition processor, I would also like to know the set up and component's you've got.

For those that don't have one:
Please, don't post how you think it sucks, or how you think it's overpriced, or how you wouldn't buy one, or how you'd rather have something else... or how you don't think anyone should buy it... no please.

For those that have one:
I'd like to hear comments from people that have it. How is it? How 'fast' to you is it compared to what you've previously used? What kind of set up? Motherboard? RAM (ammount)? Cooling? Hard Drive(s)?

To keep it short, I was trying to download the latest Intel HD Graphics Driver from the official website to update my wife's drivers to try and solve a problem. She has an Intel i5 4th generation and running with the built in GPU since it's more of an office/media computer.

Excluding driver ver. 4414, all the newest versions support 4th gen GPUs only on Windows 10 (when trying to install it says my system doesn't meet the requirements or some message of this sort).

It struck me as odd and you can't really make up a pattern here on only two consecutive iterations that don't support W7, but the fixes in the release notes would be extremely welcome to this OS as well.

Is Intel trying to ditch support for older generations that run Windows 7, thus inevitably making the customer to upgrade to 10 in the hopes of continued support of older generations?

Do you guys, who are more in the know, give any value to my assumption? What's going on?

Cheers!

Hopefully it has an agp expansion slot so you can install a decent graphics card, but sadly many computers with intel extreme graphics completely lack this slot, and hence are stuck with very low end graphics.

Is this video card sufficient to run SIMS games? I am thinking of purchasing a Dell with this card installed.

A:Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2

It should run it if you get a processor(preferably a pentium 4 instead of a celeron) that's above 2ghz.

Neither intel extreme 2 or sis mirage2 are good at games. I have integrated intel extreme 2 graphics in my one system. If I use it I get a score of about 4,000 points on aquamark3(about 4 frames per second, a real slideshow), but when I use my nvidia 6600 graphics card I get about 40,000 points, (about 40frames per second, a reasonable rate). The 6600 128mb is about 10X as fast as intel extreme2. The 6600 costs about $110 usd. You need an agp or pci-express port to use the graphics card though, which most cheap dell systems don't have(they can't be upgraded cheaply).

I am building a Web Server using Windows Web Server 2008 R2 which I understand to be based on Windows 7 as for dealing with SSD drives and TRIM. I am getting so much different information for recommendations in other forums, hopefully someone here can clear this up for me. Some are insisting on Intel, swearing they blow away OCZ, but I see performance charts showing the new Vertex 2 consistently performing better then the X25 -Extreme

1.) Does using any form of RAID with Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 create the need to partition the drive only utilizing half of it. I have been told that there is no TRIM when using RAID.

2.) Is the OCZ Vertex 2 with Max Read: up to 285MB/s, Max Write: up to 275 MB/s, Sustained Write: up to 250 MB/s, and Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 50,000 IOPS now competitive with the Intel x25-Extreme drives featuring Sequential Access: Read up to 250MB/s, Sequential Access-Write: up to 170 MB/s (can't find an IOPS spec for random read/write).

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Well intel extreme graphics 2 is a chip built into the motherboard so you can't remove it but you can dissable it in bios allowing the instalation of a seperate video card.
However most notebooks don't have slots for video card upgrades so chances are you won't be able to upgrade your video card.

350 MHz DAC for 1800x1440 @ 85Hz max CRT resolution or [email protected] max FP resolution

However, here is what I found for supported resolutions:
1024 x 768, 16M colors (60, 70, 75, 85, 100,120 Hz)
1152 x 864, 16M colors (60, 70, 75, 85, 100 Hz)
1280 x 1024, 16M colors (60, 75, 85, 100 Hz)

1920 x 1440, 64K colors (60, 75 Hz)
2048 x 1536, 64K colors (60 Hz)

Those may be for CRT and maybe not for LCD. I just don't want to buy the monitor and have it not work.

Just get an LCD and a cheapo graphics card for like $30. Get like a X300 or Geforce 6200 or something. They are cheap, and support resolutions of up to 2560x1600 at full 16m color instead of crappy 64k. Also, they come with a VGA and a DVI output (DVI is for LCDs and that intel graphics card doesn't have DVI) so it will work.

Hi, I just got a Dell Dimension 3000 computer that has integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 and no AGP slot. I was thinking of buying a 128MB or 256MB Nvidia/ATI PCI video card to improve gaming performance.

Do you think I would get any tangible, noticeable improvements in video playback quality and gaming performance? Or will the slowness of PCI just negate any benefits of the better video card?

If there are noticeable benefits to upgrading, which should I choose, the 128MB or the 256MB?

A:need help on installing intel extreme graphics card

Intel Extreme Graphics aren't a graphics card- but instead integrated graphics chipsets. This means your system must already have integrated Intel graphics on the motherboard. As you've stated, you already have SiS integrated.. so which one does your mainboard have? You can't just install the Intel drivers and have it "change" the integrated graphics chip your system has. You'll get the INF error if you try to install Intel Extreme Graphics on a system without this chipset on it.

If you can provide your system stats, this would be helpful for providing advice on what you need to do. Neither SiS nor Intel integrated graphics are very good or supported for many 3D games, so it's highly recommended you consider upgrading to a new videocard and disabling the on-board/integrated graphics entirely.

Hi Everyone,

I am currently providing remote support using TightVNC to a variety of locations. Increasingly I am noticing that the support that I am providing is to individuals with multiple monitor configurations. In almost all cases where more than one monitor is involved I find myself having to do a lot of scrolling inside the TightVNC program window (and TightVNC is not dissimilar to other remote support programs, such as RealVNC and TeamViewer in this regard).

I am considering purchasing an Extreme Definition monitor in the hopes of eliminating the program scrolling that I am experiencing. My first choice is the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM - LED monitor - 27". This specific monitor has a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440.

I would not like to spend a significant sum of money on an extreme definition monitor only to find that it doesn't solve my specific challenge. For example the remote session may be too hard to read on the screen due to text being very small.

If anybody has any experience with this kind of monitor, and specifically with providing remote support whilst using one of these can you please share.

All comments & opinions are welcome.

Kind Regards,

Davo

A:Considering an Extreme Res Monitor to improve remote desktop support

Would it solve your issue? Might if the dual monitors you are viewing over VNC are not wider then 2560px. You would need dual monitors yourself to fully solve the issue of scrolling. As for the text size...well that will depend on your eye sight and your personal preferences. But yes, the text will be smaller is most cases.

Radeon X800 PCI series

When I try to disable the video card it seems to only reset my graphics settings to 8 bit and 800 x 600 resolution, I've looked at other posts here about the Intel extreme graphics 2 and I know that it will consistently try to reinstall its driver if uninstalled. My ATI Catalyst software will not install itself for some reason. I put in the disc and it goes through the installation process, aburptly stops but it doesn't install any ATI things onto the computer, when I look in my control panel afterwards there are no ATI things in there whatsoever.

I know this video card works and everything cause it was working in my other dimension 3000 even before I disabled the onboard video on that computer it allowed the ATI software to be on the computer. I tried getting the latest drivers from ATI but when trying to install them it pops up a message saying
"Setup was unable to find components that can be installed under your current hardware or software configurations. Please make sure you have the right required hardware or software"
what does that mean? Im not sure what hardware or software I may be missing...

I had purchased a Dell Precision M6300 that has a Intel Core 2 Extreme. Now from what I read from there page about this system, it can run CAD and other graphic programs. Well, when I had got it form the person it had Linux Ubuntu on it. It ran fine until I wiped the drive and installed my iso of  Windows 7. It was REALLY SLOW. To the point I could not watch videos with VLC and it took forever to load Firefox.
I opened the task manager and it was running at 0.59GHz! This CPU should be at around 2.5GHz. So I disabled the bios options for Speed Step and it went up to 0.89GHz and no higher.
About a week has passed and I now have Windows 10 and it runs nice but still at 0.89GHz. I had done more searching and found ThrottleStop. Well now I'm running at 2.5GHz, but I need to run that program to have the CPU to be at where I want it.

TL;DR Is there an update for me to be able to access the CPU Multiplier in the BIOS? It's at Revision A15. I have another Dell which is a XPS M1730 and it has a setting in the BIOS for it.

A:How can I access the CPU Multiplier for the Intel Core 2 Extreme x9000

There is no BIOS level control over the CPU multiplier - it's auto-set by the system board.
Is the AC adapter recognized (F2 at powerup to check)?  If not, the system will run as if on battery all the time.
Similarly, disabling SpeedStep will force the system to run at low speed all the time - you want that setting to be enabled.

Hi Nazbir and Welcome to SevenForums

I have two questions, 1. are you overclocking the CPU, if so bring it back to original spec. 2. are you overclocking the RAM, is it one stick of 2GB or 2 sticks of 1GB, do the part #'s match exactly. These things all make a difference when your trying to make it work. Hope this helps sort things out and if you need more help just ask.

I purchased a IdeaCentre 710-25ISH model 90FB0001US from a Bestbuy in store on Jan '17. I took note of what was installed before looking for the RAM I want and fond two sticks of Ramaxel Technology 4GB DDR4-2400 part# RMUA5120MB86H9F-2400 and was in fact running in daul channel mode of 1200Mhz each as that what Piriform's Speccy showed me of which I have a screenshot of but don't know if it's big to post here and don't want to resize as that may make it unreadable.I didn't want wait to upgrade the RAM so two weeks later I purchased a four stick kit of G.SKILL Value 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-16GNT from Newegg. After installing the RAM I found it running in the standard 2133Mhz than learned a lot about XMP that I would need to enable XMP in the BIOS, I checked this machine Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and don't see anything about XMP. So as the subject title states "Does Lenovo suport Intel's Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)?" and how possible this machine had from the factory enable XMP to have the thier RAM running at 2400Mhz? Also, who is Ramaxel Technology?

To play games on my pc, I have to turn up the brightness in my video card settings so I can see what the hell I am doing. So I updated my driver the other day, fix the color like I usually do, but when I start any full screen game, the color scheme reverts back to the default which as I said is way to dark.

Is there any way to fix this without having to revert back to outdated drivers?

I finally decided to ditch my old Core 2 Duo 6400 Processor (~2.13 Ghz) and upgrade to a quad core. My issue is that my machine is about 4 or 5 years old now. My mobo is the Intel DP965LT and the my current cooling for my processor is the Freezer 7 Pro.

I purchased the Intel« Core?2 Extreme Processor QX6700 (Quad Core), I know I will need to update BIOS for the new CPU, but I believe that is worth it. While waiting for the new CPUs arrival I've been researching if my current cooling system will be enough. The Freezer 7 Pro is a small fan with a small heat sink (98mm I believe). All the aftermarket fans I've been looking at are 120mm and up. Will these be too big to fit in the holes already there for the push-in style heat sink & and fan slot already in my cpu?
I need to find a heat sink and fan that will fit in the slot where my Freezer 7 Pro has been. I really appreciate your help and suggestions.:approve:

p.s. My new CPU won't be coming with heat sink or fan, since I bought 2nd hand CPU. Also, I don't plan on overclocking....the 2.66Ghz out of a Quad core will already feel like a ferarri compared to my old 2.13 Dual

Current System Specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Home, SP3
Mother Board: Intel Model #DP965LT; Chipset: Intel P965/G965
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 ~2.13Ghz (this must go!)
Memory: 3 GB DDR2 RAM
Video Card: NVidea GeForce 9500 GT w/1 GB Memory

A:Cooling for (SL9UL) Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700

As long as the heatsink is made for a socket 775 CPU it will fit the mounting holes. IMO, if you are not planning to overclock, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is enough. If you decide to get a larger heatsink/fan anyway, most that are designed for a socket 775 should fit. Just make sure the larger heatsink/fan won't interfere with other components like side case fans or extra tall heatsinked RAM.

If this PC is for gaming, consider replacing the 9500GT.

If your computer has an "on-board" Intel display adapter and uses the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 drivers, version 14.2(6.14.10.3792) was released today to replace version 14.1(6.14.10.3762).

After installing the new version and rebooting, my HP N5495 laptop with Windows XP refused to go beyond a black screen. I went into safe mode and reinstalled it, then rebooted again, but still no luck. I went into safe mode a second time and attempted to roll back to the old version, but the rollback function did not work. I went into safe mode a third time and installed the old version(which I always save), then rebooted. Everything returned to normal.

This post is just to warn everyone of what I went through and what might possibly happen to you.

Hi all , i recently just bout a new intel core 2extreme x6800 processor for 200 pounds i have heard that this processor was really good but i have a few doubts now after i bought it . first off, was 200 pound good for this processor? or should i have maybe went a bit higher and got the the quad extreme qx6700? opinions would be greatly appreciated because i want to run crysis really well and just need some opions on this processor cheers

A:Intel core 2 extreme x6800 wise choice?

I'm not sure about the 200 lb price tag for X6800, but a Q6600 will go for $325 and a regular E6850 for about $299Cd here in Canada. For sure you won't see any difference between an X6800 and the Q6700 when it comes to Crysis. I've read and seen the performance reviews and they all show such little diff. it's not worth talking about. To run Crysis very well means mid-high settings and one of those above cpus and a minimum 8800GT 512Mb to achieve (believe it or not!) 30FPS!!!!

I am guessing that something quite wrong was done in 2.20 (and it persists into 2.21). There was no such errant behavior with 2.19, as I've confirmed by reinstalling 2.19.  Works perfectly and boots promptly and the BIOS Setup utility works lickity-split with 2.19, just like it always has.  But with the install of 2.20 the behavior changed drastically.

Looking at the README for BIOS 2.20 this definitely seems like the culprit:

[Problem fixes]- Fixed an issue where fan might rotated with max speed due to not reading CPU   temperature correctly.- Fixed an issue where system might not boot to OS when attached an external monitor   and its USB3 devices.- Fixed an issue where network boot might happened at reboot after resume from suspend   by Wake On LAN.

At first I thought I had blown the BIOS update, since my screen was simply black for what seemed like 1-2 minutes after displaying the Lenovo logo and "press ENTER to interrupt" message.  I pressed ENTER repeatedly but nothing happened, for a long time.  Eventually, the hard drive activity LED on the P70 started flashing, and seemingly almost 2 minutes later, the machine came to life and boot process continued normally.

Then, once I entered the BIOS, I used the right-arrow key to navigate through the tabs.  No problem until I got to the Security tab and then pressed right-arrow one more time to navigate into the Boot tab... and it hung!  Didn't go ri... Read more

Hi I recently got a new laptop: HP Pavilion dv6-6b12ed

I have a Control panel from Intel where I could change the colors of my screen and other stuff, but I can't get it to open!

Here's my weird problem: It shows in the system tray but when I click it I see this:
http://i42.tinypic.com/mn2qki.png

When I try to click on it, or anywhere else, it disappears and the program won't open.
I've even tried ALL methods in this following link: Graphics — How to open the Intel? Graphics Properties window

I think the problem will be solved if I can re-install the driver, but I've no idea what to (un)install.

Help and advice would be appreciated.
If you need any additional info on my system specs, just ask me or look up my laptop specs.. .

A:Can't open Intel « Extreme graphics control panel suddenly

Okay... I download a driver from Intel site, and it has been fixed BUT...
I can't switch to my HD 6770M Graphics card, instead of the Intel HD 3000 Graphics card. I Used to have a AMD Optimus thing but it's gone now! I get a Catalyst Control Panel with limited options now instead.

So I've done a system restore for time being, if anyone could explain to me how to fix all this crap.. It would be appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to fix a computer for a friend. I have put the OS cd in and am trying to run a repair. at 34mins into the repair it says "Intel Extreme Graphics Windows 2000/XP installation Disk needed".

I have downloaded the disk needed and added it to the OS iso file and burned it to a cd to have it with the install. I point it to the right dir, but it keeps popping up saying the same thing. What's weird is when I select the file it asks for, it says I am installed a driver that has not been approved of microsoft and so I press yes. but it goes back to asking for the installation disk.
Anyone have any ideas? If anything, I just want to back up the files and format it and run a new install.

Please help!!!
Thanks,
Synt4x
