Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 i7 Lenovo don't have part and it's been almost a year

Q: Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 i7 Lenovo don't have part and it's been almost a year

Initial problem:On the 29th June 2016 my laptop suddenly turned off and now only the backlit keyboard lights up and goes off again and the power button just goes on and off. After about 5 minutes of use before the error the screen went blue and shut down. After restarting, as it went onto the desktop the screen flickered constantly and was unusable. I then turned it off again and it wont turn on since. My issue now:Anyway after emailing lenovo, and sending it off they said it was the RAM. However after enquiring over a month after sending it off and paying for the repair they replied with:'We have received feedback from our repair provider in relation to your device in repair. Unfortunately due to non-availability of parts we are unable to complete this repair. We will send your faulty device back to you free of charge. Once we have the part in stock you can re-book the repair again free of charge.' Since last summer, I have emailed multiple times and they have replied saying it still isn't in stock. I just feel like I am being treated unfairly as the laptop wasn't even 2 years old and it's broke and they will not fix it. I don't want to have to do it myself as that will probably cause its own problem, but its the principal that they should fix their mistake! I have seen a youtube video of the same problem on the same laptop so it is obviously an issue. Any ideas on what I can do to get this issue solved would be great, even if its the email to the complains departmentRuth Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 i7 Serial number YB01410276

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

I bought the Lenovo yoga 900 in December as i was about start medical school, now after only about 6 months of use, while i was using it one evening, i decided to take a break from school work, when I got back to my computer it had powered down and tried to reboot but didn't make it pass the Lenovo screen, i tired exhausting the battery power and trying it again but to no avail. so my question is has anyone had this kind of problem before and if so what is the solution? Also is this a common problem and how long is the company warranty for my 6 month old computer, in case i need to give it back to get something more reliable, its kind of disheartening as i had believed this was the best decision i made for medical school, but now am left with the possibility of failing the semester due to faullty equipment. SOOO PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME SAVE MY SEMESTER. Thnak youjay

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Lenovo Active Pen is also compatible with the yoga 920, or whether only the Lenovo Active Pen 2 works. Moreover, I was wondering if the Lenovo Active Pen also looses contact when writing if you hold the pen close to the nub. Thanks! for your help

A:Lenovo yoga 920 compatible with Lenovo active pen

Hi huQbbTCi,

Greetings.

Lenovo active pen 1 is also compatible with Yoga 920 as shown in the accessories search tool here PART # GX80K32884. It would be less sensitive to depth perception but with palm rejection enabled then you may not have the same issue on losing contact with it.

It would also be favorable to have it tried first before any purchase specially if you have someone that have it and compare it with other active pens whichever would be comfortable and efficient to your writing style.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Hello,    I am looking to replace my aging Lenovo T420S and Lenovo x1 Carbon 1st generation. They have both served me well and I am happy with both.  I like the touch of Carbon but don?t use it that often. The machine will be perosnla machine but will be used for personal and business/work use. I saw the T460S and x1 Yoga yesterday at our IT department. I like the built quality of Lenovo T460S including keyboard but found X1 Yoga to be fragile. I couldn?t get my hands on X1 Carbon 4th generation and found out that it doesn?t have touch anymore. The weight difference is minimal between the three machines and I personally like the weight, feel and ruggedness of Lenovo T460S. Bottom line is does anyone have experience with these three machines? I can afford to replace only one machine now and it will be fully loaded (i7, 16GB and 1Tb PCIe-NVME drive). Is x1 Yoga rugged and reliable? The difference between X1 Carbon 4th Gen and T460S seems minimal. Thank You!Subhash

So i bought Lenovo y 70 70T  1 almost a year ago. Since that time I have had this stupid bug - buzzing audio and video crashes while watching videos  or playing games. I have contacted windows and lenovo support 20 thousand times -all they told me to do was to reinstall drivers and reinstall Windows. I have done it a lot of times, trying all possible drivers - nothing helped. I have created topics everywhere - and guess what, people have it. It it somehow related to network card driver - but that's all we have figured out. Lenovo support have been uncompetent and never willing to help. Now my warranty is reaching expiraiton in a month and I would never buy another lenovo product or prolong it. This has been the most disgusting experience in my life connected to devices.P.S. Now lenovo support does not even except my serial number - i just enter it and it keeps loading.well done lenovo - i have spent my 6 years saving on this machine to provide myself with continous suffering and ignorance from the manufacturer.

Hi Woxy,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Specific piece part of the motherboard are not offered as sold separately from Lenovo instead it would just be the entire motherboard.

If you can however manage to get similar board part number to get that specific part from, you can use the parts lookup page for the systemboard.

Please help with getting acces to the Recovery Service Parition. On a Lenovo E431, I have tried more then a dozen times rapidly pressing F11 on boot up. Other procedures tried:1) Hold down F11 on powerup.2) Hold down Fn+F11 on powerup3) Remove battery + pressing power button 10+ times then repeat above. Also, neither F1 to enter BIOS or F12 for boot menu seem to work. On bootup the bios post screen flashes for less then 1/2 second. All I can make out is, on the bottom it says PRESS F1 to enter BIOS setup. Then it boots into Windows 10. I was considering that maybe the Service Partition was erased but it is NOT.I pulled the drive, and attached to another machine.  The Service Partition IS THERE. Ultimate goal - Wipe the C: drive, overwritting Windows 10 and restore factory Windows 8 Pro. Please help, whats the secret to getting into ANY of the Function Key options?Thanks,Unit1000

A:Lenovo E431 - Can't get into Recovery Service Part...

Per Lenovo, their One Key Recovery software is not available in Windows 10, so that may be why you cannot access it since the upgrade, and I do not believe (I could be wrong) that the boot to recovery partition option was ever available on your model....I think you had to use One Key Recovery from within the OS, or have created recovery media. If it has been less than a month since you updated to Windows 10, you can still revert back to the previous version using Windows recovery, but after that time elapses, you cannot, and would have to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 instead. How to revert back using Windows Recovery (if upgrade is less than a month old)Press Windows Key + A  simultaneouslySelect  All Settings option from bottom of slide out window on right.Select Update & SecuritySelect RecoverySelect Get Started under "Go Back to Windows 8.1" (if still available)See link below for more details How to downgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1http://www.windowscentral.com/how-downgrade-windows-10-windows-81 If over one month has passed, then you will have to basically overwrite the HD with a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro (8.0 pro install media is not available) by using Microsoft's MediaCreationTool available here, and burn either a DVD or USB key to use to install Windows 8.1 pro.     Windows 8.1 should find your Windows Product Key stored in the BIOS, and, per Microsoft's Downgrade Rights, and install 8.... i had dropped my computer a couple days ago and the screen was slightly darker. i figured it was either the inverter or the bulb. so i disassembled the screen, checked the bulb and it didnt seem bad, and put it back together to test it .now only a small strip at the bottom of the screen has normal lighting. could it be those little pieces of plastic at the back of the LCD? possibly something was knocked loose originally and since i tried to put it back together, i might have partially fixed the problem?

So I have an issue with my t460s that turned out to be a broken LCD rear cover. I posted about it and got a good answer pointing me to very thorough instructions on how to fix it:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460s-loose-left-hinge-losse-from-screen... I found the part I need, it's part number 00JT994 LCD,Rear,Cover,WQHD. Now the problem is that the Lenovo shop assumes I am in the Unites States for shipping. And I am not, I am in Madrid, Spain. I am not sure what I did wrong, I started from the Spanish site with my registered user account. Then clicked on part finding and there all was in English, not a problem for me, but I think the shop assumes you are in the US from there. Is it possible to get support from Lenovo in Spain to buy this replacement part? How?

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

They even don't know the meaning of the term! On the 17th of August 2016 Markus ? finally - proposes a replacement computer with quite different specifications, though (also in regard to already purchased upgrade material - see above). Fed up and angry once again I insist on a brand new P70 with the newest Xeon processor plus some other items as compensation for the simple reason that had I known this incredible delay of getting back the P70 I eventually would have bought a different model with the latest processor as I need speed for the treatment of high resolution pictures. I shall NEVER EVER hear of Markus... Buyer be aware, you may not get the Lenovo Flex you ordered online.  I recently (06/11/2018) bought a Lenovo  Flex 5 15" - Onyx Black  (Part Number:  81CA000HUS) with display type desciption as :"15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS multi-touch anti-glare"    After I received and opened the box, I found that I got a model with Glossy screen (Part Number:  81CA000CUS) not the anti-glare screen.  I looked at my invoice and it states:Part No: 81CA000CUSConfiguration Details?  Processor: 8th Generation Intel® Core? i7-8550U Processor (1.80 GHz, up to 4.0 GHz, 8MB Cache)?  Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64?  Display Type: 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS multi-touch anti-glare At first, I have no idea that there are mismatch within Lenovo's part numbers.  I called customer service, and luckly I was able to agure ( yes argure) with the customer service agent that I paid for the configuration X but get configuration Y by providing my invoice.  I asked the agent to teach me how to distinguish the difference between the anti-glare (matte) and Glossy screen, but the agent was unable to tell me the exact answer.   So I googled the answer and confirmed the display type I got is a shining"Glossy" screen not anti-glare. https://www.howtogeek.com/181727/glossy-vs.-matte-lcds-which-should-you-choose-when-buying-a-display... I contacted the second customer service agent throu... Some years ago I came to the IBM/Lenovo brand and immediately got hooked up. From an IBM R61 (inherited from deceased friends) I was able to upgrade to a Lenovo W510 - a true workhorse! After two years of saving I intended to buy a W701DS to do professional photo work. However, no new machine was still available. So I opted for a ThinkPad P70. At the end of May 2016 I found a brand new Xeon-processor based P70 laptop on ebay USA which I bought. It was considerably less expensive than here in France and even less expensive than advertised on Lenovo US homepage (please note, I have little money?) At the beginning of June 2016 friends of mine brought the computer from the States to Paris, France, where I live. While setting up the computer I noticed that some pixels on the display were defective ? a major blow to my conviction that Lenovo builds the best computers in the world. I contacted Lenovo repair service and got instructions what and how to do to send the laptop to the appropriate service center (in France). Having sent it off on the 10th of June (including my coordinates ? address, email etc.) a few days later I got an email confirming the reception of the computer and also letting me know that repair would take a maximum of 5 working days! With it I also got a link to be able to check the repair status. I had to go to Hamburg, Germany, for the following two weeks. My next check on the indicated repair status link now stated a different message:... Read more

I've been looking around and found a few people who are very displeased with the logo startup/boot logo (example1, example2), but no way to change it as of yet. Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways. If nothing, then at least I'm raising awareness and maybe Lenovo will choose a better graphic designer for our collective startup screens. I mean, seriously? Is that the best you could come up with?

A:Yoga 720 Lenovo boot logo. Is there a way to change it? (should be the same for every new Yoga).

I do not know of any way to easily change it without hackging the BIOS, nor would I waste time trying to do so since it is just the boot logo, and I am just happy to have it boot up.

Hi, i could really use some help. I purchaced a Y510p,and i noticed the numeric keypad didnt work. Also the previous owner had loaded the OS on the 1TB harddrive instead of the SSD drive and it was really sluggish.. So i loaded windows 10 from scratch, deleted all the partitions, and lost the ablity to use OKR. Great.i then bought a new keyboard, installed it and the numeric keypad STILL doesnt work. When i go into the on screen keyboard, there is NO numeric keypad either? So i checked the bios, and it is ver 3.08, and instead of saying Y510p in the bios, it says y410p??? i checked and the Y410p has a 14" screen and no numeric keypad, while the y510p has a 15" screen AND a numeric keypad, so i guess its a y510p. I then downgraded the bios to ver3.05 but it made no difference, so at this point i am stuck, any deas will be welcomed.I want to go back to Win8, but that lookslike a tall order without the OKR.thx Russel.
