I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi: There are no removable, replaceable, upgradable graphics 'cards' in your notebook. The graphics is all part of the motherboard and in order to upgrade the graphics, you would have to see if there is a motherboard listed in the maintenance and service guide for your notebook that has better graphics. Replacing the motherboard would be a costly and labor intensive project.

My wired desktop internet connection cuts out for a few seconds every 3 to 5 minutes.  Laptops are able to access the internet wirelessly via the router.  My conclusion is that the ethernet adaptor (card?) needs to be replaced.  I've done some searching but can't work out what I need to buy (what it's called), what specs (speed?), and where to put it (a card slot? replace something there?).  I'd prefer to keep a wired connection as it's much faster.  The product specs say it's currently:LAN: 10-Base-TTechnology: PCI Realtek RTL8105EData transfer speeds: up to 10/100 Mb/sTransmission standards:10-Base-T Ethernet The system info shows this: The SpeedTest shows: AT&T says downstream speed is up to 18 mbps Thanks for any help. K.

Hi, I have Lenovo AIO C200. Two days ago I upgraded the windows 7 OS to windows 8.1 After that when I start the computer I don't get any image, just black screen. As far as I could research it's the problem of compatibility of the BIOS and the microsoft update for the graphics card. But I was not able to find the files for the BIOS  update for this PC on the Lenovo web page. My BIOS version is D9KT12CUS date: 06/08/10. I found a trick how to make the display work, but it's complicated and it's not the long term solution. Somebody can help me please. Thanks Martin

Hi everyone, I have been using a Vostro 3568 (i5 7200, 4gb ram, AMD R5 M430) for 1 month. However, after I updated AMD software, the details of my graphics card changed. From AMD R5 430 to HD 8500M. Haven't noticed any considerable changes in gaming or any errors, however should I reinstall again or let it be? Just afraid that some games wouldn't be able to run with wrongly-identified card.
Thank you so much

There is no problem. The AMD R5 Mx30 is a rebadged AMD HD 8500M series GPU as seen by the AMD catalyst.

I have purchased a new graphics card. I downloaded the new driver to my computer with the old graphics card in place. After installing the new card, i have no computer screen image (black screen). Some forums suggested updating my BIOS. I have an IPIEL-LA3 motherboard with the American Megatrend 5.03 4/28/2009 BIOS. I tried downloading a newer version but can only access the file through HP Support if I say I am using Vista operating system, and then it won't let me update to the 5.05 version saying "Your system does not meet the minimum requiements for this update. Update has been cancelled. (9998)" I believe my system originally had Vista. Soon after buying it,  I switched to Win7 and more recently to Win10. The graphics card I am trying to install is a 1024 MB DDR3 GeForce 8400 GS. Help!

How do I change the card in my desktop PC?  I have uninstalled the AMD card, removed the driver and removed the card so my PC is just using the onboard Intel graphics but when I try to put in my old GeForce 430GT card the PC just gives me three long beeps and 3 short beeps over and over.   It wont respond to me holding down the esc or del keys while booting (they both work fine without the GeForce in the slot)   People have suggested I need to change something in the BIOS first to disable the Intel graphics  but I cannot see anything in there relating to that. I admit to being rather stupid in assuming that a new PC with newer graphics card with 2Gb RAM must be better than my ancient 1Gb GeForce but that seems to be the case :-(    If there is a problem with using this particular card then suggestions for what would work better are welcome. Thanks in advance.

hey
this is my first post...and first of all just wanted to say hello, and this is a pretty awesome site.
I recently bought a laptop (HP Pavilion DV 1000) for college. It has a Mobile Intel Extreme Graphics 2 Card. I bought this computer knowing that i would not be able to play a lot of new games such as Counter Strike Source which i played a lot on my home computer. Now i am regretting this decision and am trying to figure out if it is possible to change my graphics card. The thing is it is integrated with my mother board and according to HP its not possible to change this. But i figure there is prolly some way to change the graphics card and was wondering if you guys knew how to do this?
thanks in advance for any help....

A:Possible to replace my graphics card?

Check the motherboard and see if it has a AGP slot. Way of knowing this is that it will be the first slot(closest to CPU) and it will be positioned farther to the right than the other slots. IF your computer has one you can turn off the integrated video in your BIOS and install that one.

I bought this PC just over a year ago now, it was working fine for roughly half a year, but on world of warcraft i started seeing distorted graphics, I've endured by Alt-Tabbing out of wow and back in which fixes the issue for a couple of minutes, but the problem has become increasingly worse so that i am now unable to play at times. My initial reaction is that the problem is with my graphics card, i would like to know any other possible problems before i decide to replace it.
I have tried cleaning out my computer and I've ensured i have the latest driver, but I'm unsure how to check if my graphics card is overheating.
I have also tried lowering all the graphics settings, enabling vertical sync etc. none of this works

Here is my computer:

here are some examples of what happens to my graphics, some are truly bizzare and i see new ones every day:

this is the most extreme, where i cant see anything

this is the most common thing i see: the model (in this case the ogre) is distorted

and now one of the weird ones: the ground has gone pink

A:Graphics Distortion, replace card ?

first thing i'd say would be, update your drivers, there should be new ones on the nvidia website. if that doesnt help then it could be overheating, as far as i remember the GS doesnt have a cooling fan (please correct me if i'm wrong on that somebody)

Hi @ww525468,Welcome to the HP Forums! I read from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP Pavilion dv9610us Notebook and the NVIDIA GeForce G0 7510M graphics.  I have done some reading on this and some suggest it is something running in the back ground on the Notebook that will not allow the resources to be used for the NVIDIA to work correctly.  Most suggest a Virus Protection Program. Have you tried to disable the Virus Protection Program? Have you tried to see what processes are running in the Back Ground? Pressing Ctrl Alt and delete will bring up the Task Manager. You could try: In the Device Manager, click the arrow next to Display Adapters to expand that category. Right-click on Graphics and select Update Driver Software if more than 1 Graphics adapter do 1 at a time.Choose the option to Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. The Notebook should find and automatically install the updated driverAfter the installation is complete, restart your Notebook.  You might need to reload the defaults on the BIOS. Here is a link that will help do that. Please get back to me how this goes. Please click the Thumbs up below to thank me for my efforts! Thanks.

You dont have an AGP slot so you are limited to PCI video cards. To change the video first remove the old video drivers in Add/Remove Programs, Turn off the computer and install the video card. Then boot into the BIOS and change Primary Video Adapter from onboard to PCI.

If I read this correctly, you've tried three cards and you get no monitor lighting.
It's possible that a backlighting element within the monitor may have failed.

I've heard this a million times: "No, its not possible. Now follow this link for PCI or PCI Express graphics card that you can purchase, and then disable your onboard card."

But I think it should be possible. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right. My laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, integrated of course. I'm not sure the motherboard type though, sorry. Its a Dell D600. Shouldn't it be possible to unsolder the card and resolder another one in? Would the pins fit differently? The only reason I haven't tried this yet is that I still need this old Dell. So do any of you know? Because this ATI graphics card physically exists in a chip form. Its not part of the motherboard's silicon, it was added onto the motherboard at some point during production. This makes me think its possible.

I know you are trying to be helpful, but I'm aware that it would be better to buy a new motherboard, or a different laptop, or give it to a pro to do, but I'm not going to buy a new computer, and I'm not giving it to someone else to do something I'm capable of doing myself. Thank you very much for any replies.

Hello, We have some HP Elite 7300-system at our office. Thing is, the bearings of the pre-installed graphics card (NVidia Geforce GT530) are dying. We tried to replace this card with two other cards. A Quadro K420 and a Geforce GT630. When installed, the system would not start by both cards. I only get a blue screen with the HP logo. Ofcourse I deleted the old drivers first, but it didn't change the boot status. Then I thought it could be the BIOS, since this is an 'old' BIOS and maybe the other cards would only work with UEFI enabled. Looking for BIOS updates, but could not find one. It looks like there are no BIOS updates for a Elite 7300. Now I would like to know which other graphic cards will work in these systems. To replace with an original GT530 from HP we have to pay over ?400,-. A new card would be cheaper, if it has the same specifications. Does anyone of you know a card what will fit.Thank you for looking into my question,BrokenWing.

Greetings Guru's

I can't play Medal of Honor - Airborne. I'm devastated.

Alas...my XPS Gen 3 now appears to be an old man ...or maybe it just needs a little surgery but this surgeon needs your help

The Radeon XT800 card appears to be a PCI-E. I'm pretty sure it is.

I can remove the graphics card from the slot BUT...there are some wires also going into a little black box on it. The box has the mark: P5
These wires do not appear to be able to be removed.

I don't know where these wires go to...they get bundled up with others and disappear into the depth of my computer where I darn't even look. Yes..you're right....The Abyss scared the crap out of me.

Anyway....I know I shouldn't just cut these wires with a pair of scissors.
That would be plain stoopid.

What should I do?

I'm completely flummoxed

A:Dell Dimension XPSGEN3 - replace my graphics card

Please look the card over again carefully. The only wires may be power wires from the power supply, or wires from a fan on the video card itself. These wires can be unplugged from the video card

Yesterday I was playing Supreme Commander Forged Alliance when in the middle of a game I had to quickly check my emails, and when I remaximised the game window, my entire laptop froze and I had to do a hard reboot.

When I rebooted, as soon as I got to the desktop I got a BSOD because one of the drivers for my nvidia GeForce 8400M GS, nvlddmkm.sys, stopped working.

After the second reboot I managed to load my desktop fine, but every time I went on a 3D game I would get the same blue screen.

Today, the computer won't even load the desktop, it automatically goes into Startup Repair.

After searching on the Internet I find that thousands of other people have the same problem for years, and nobody has found a proper fix, so I will not be surprised if it can't be fixed.
I was wondering, if I am unable to fix this problem, which I expect is the case, would if be possible to replace the graphics card on my laptop? I have heard that in some laptops this is not possible, and if so, would I be able to get a refund for a faulty graphics card?

I'm using an Advent 5401, with NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, vista home premium 32 bit.
Bought the laptop from PC World 10~11 months ago.
Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hello a9gould,
If you have only had the laptop for that short period of time, take it back to PC World and let them sort it, after all, it is still under guarantee.

Have this comp but it was time to upgrade the video card. I figured the i7 was good enough for average gaming and had an old nvidia 650 (I believe) and the comp ran great. But I recently purchased a gtx 970 and a new power supply and computer won't get past the motherboard log in screen ... Switching the old card back in everything works fine and I'm getting a bit flustered about the whole thing... Any ideas?Ps I also tryed my sons nvidia 750 ti and it still won't go past the motherboard load in screen

@Scottperkins?, welcome to the forum. The problem that you are experiencing is caused by the fact that the GTX 970 requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard/Legacy BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  The BIOS can't be upgraded to UEFI.  The last cards not to require UEFI were the GTX 660/670's. The GTX 750Ti requires UEFI, also. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

So I recieved an HP Pavilion 15-au123cl (15.6 inch) for christmas, and was wondering if it was possible to install a graphics card (note there is not already one installed, it is running off Intel HD Graphics 620.) Is there a spot on the motherboard to install one? Would be great to know, there is not a model for the motherboard on the product page.

Hi,Specs: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05281411Manual: page 48, 49http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05273198Graphic chip is integrated on to the motherboard and board is unique to the processor, graphic system and operating system. You cannot put in additional chip. You've to change whole board, which will be way too costly.RegardsVisruth

Please suggest a graphics card for me. I have the integrated AMD Radion R7 that came with the motherboard when I purchased the desktop a couple of years ago. Max resolution appears to be 1600x1200.  I want to upgrade my monitors (two) and the graphics card to better support my Adobe Lightfoot work.  I do not and never will do any gaming.  The desktop's power supply is 300W. I'd like to keep the card price under $100. I have not picked out monitors so I don't know what my target resolution will be, but 1600x1200 is too low. Thanks.

I have a Pavilion dv6-6185la runing windows 7 it says that it has switchable graphics cards, does anyone know if I can upgrade to a more powerfull graphic card on this computer?

A:Pavilion dv6-6185la graphics Card

Hello, @danielkenobi Welcome to the HP Forums.Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the graphics in that notebook. The GPU is part of the system board. For that notebook you have the highest GPU available in the Radeon HD 6770M.Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
