I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Dear Leanardo

Welcome in Lenovo community

You will be able to remove the software by uninstalling the Lenovo Think Vantage Tool, but in this case you will not be able to use it as enrolling the fingers should be done through the Lenovo fingerprint application only .

Let me know for any further

Thanks
Alaa

After a bios update that happened on 04 Oct 2018, the fingerprint sensor stopped working. And when I checked the device manager it says, "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)". Any idea how to fix this?

I am using win 8.1 (fully updated) and used to have working fingerprint logon. Now it stopped working. Suddenly I can not use Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro (V 8.01.42(x64)) anymore. Whenever I try to start the application, it asks me for my Windows password, but then responds - "The device is not connected to the computer. Please insert the authentication device." OTH, in the device manager, under Biometric devices, I see Synaptics FP Sensors (WBF) (PID=0017) Also windows fingerprint sign-in option is greyed out. Any hints, what can I check?

A:Fingerprint manager pro no longer recognizing fingerprint sensor (T440s)

Try this:
1.  reboot and then press F1 at "Lenovo" logo to enter BIOS setup
2.  Change to "Security" menu
3.  change to "Fingerprint" item
4.  Choose the option for "Reset Fingerprint Data" - what happens?
5.  Press F10 to save and exit
6.  Try to enroll fingers again - what happens?

I even activate the user admin account by using the cmd and enter the command net user admin /active:yes (something like that). After that the admin account was open. But still it prompted that error. What should I do to enroll my fingerprint? Please help me!!

Hello. I'm having issues with my t450S not being able to go in to sleep mode. Everything I've read says that these two programs have major issues with Windows 10 and could be the source of my problem. I go to uninstall and it says that the program can't run on this version of Windows. Ok, so I have tried many of the solutions offered in this forum and nothing has worked thus far: * c:\swtools\readyapps\pwrmgrv\setup.exe -l0x9 -AddRemove* change compatibility mode of programs and try then* straight up add/remove button Please let me know what I can do to get these off my system (without reverting back to Windows 7).  Thank you!

Is a fingerprint login good for a home pc? Is it as save as a password or safer?

I am thinking about buying this
Amazon.com: Eikon Digital Privacy Manager - USB fingerprint reader: Electronics

I Think its a cool gadget to have for my Desktop but im not sure if its a good idea. Please comment on what you think about them and if any of you have them please post what kind you have and price also were you bought it. Thank you! - jesse

A:Fingerprint Privacy Manager

First I'll say I have never used one.
A biometric login device should be a lot safer than typed characters....should be. I have read one can breathe on one closely which causes the last fingerprint to be visible to the device by causing the print to hold moisture temorarily.

I suppose if one wiped the detector clean after each use it would be safe.

Hi!
After searching a long time, I still found no solution or hint about getting the MSKeyboard with Fingerprint Reader to work. Although the driver installs fine, the DigitalPersona Password Manager software won't install. What am I supposed to do now? Is there any chance to get the device to work with Windows Vista? Are there any plans at MS to support this feature in the near future?Maybe there is another software on the market? Anybody has a clue?
Thanks in advance!

Just used Thinkvantage Update and Drivers tool to install the update referenced above. When I restarted after installation, Windows gave an error message (not a "blue-screen" stop) that the USERINFO.DLL file could no longer be found.  This message appeared twice during each startup.I have therefore restored my system to its last backup state -- from about two weeks ago -- and the message from the operating system no longer appears. For the present, I have disabled/hidden this update (even though it is listed as "critical"). If someone at Lenovo could respond to this message, I would like to know how to install this "critical" update without disrupting my (Win 7 64-bit) operating system. Thanks.

Hey guys and gals, The sensor had been hit or miss from day one, when it worked it would sometimes take 3 presses before registering correctly. I've been using these kinds of sensors for years on my phones so I was suprised at how much effort it took to get it to work. It often wasn't avaliable to me when the laptop came out of sleep mode, or if the screen had been locked.  One day last month it stopped working completely. It isn't being detected at all in the device manager, unless it's under a differnt name now. I tried restoring from factory and seeing if I could get it back. After running all the Windows, driver, and firmware updates, it's still not present in the device manager. I went in the BIOS and checked to see that the fingerprint sensor was enabled. It was, and then I tried to delete any fingerprint data, but there wasn't any. So I'm wondering, has anyone else has had a similar issue and if there's a way I can fix this without having to RMA my otherwise kickass laptop?  Maybe the senseor is loose? Should I open her up and make sure everything's tight? I haven't unbuckled any of her fasteners yet, but if it could save me a month of being computerless while she's in the shop, I'll gladly try it.   Cheers

Hi, I'm a happy owner of a Dell E5270 and on The base plate there's a fingerprint sensor. However, when I install the recommended drivers there are no biometric devices. What is visible (in device manager) is Dell Control Vault w/o fingerprint sensor. Is it possible that there is a sensor but that The system lacks the optional fingerprint unit inside the laptop housing? There are no exclamation Marks in the device manager.
Secondly I've found the Dell DW5811E 3P10Y wwan card for the dell e5270 at a bargain price but i would like to know where to finf the cables in the housing? .

Something is weird with the fingerprint sensor. When it works, it works instantly and recognizes my fingerprint right away, no matter which part of the finger I use. The problem is that it's *constantly* forgetting my finger. It'll work fine, then I'll close my laptop and come back in a little bit and it doesn't work at all...fails three times and have to use my PIN. Once that happens it doesn't work again, at all, until I re-enroll my fingerprint at which time it works perfectly again for some time. I end up having to re-enroll once or twice a day. Lenovo Vantage pulled in a new version of the driver package today but it didn't help...the issue just happened again. Anyone know what the cause might be?

If you don't already have it, here's your hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/t450_hmm_en_sp40a27225_01.pdf
Manual pages 70-71 & 75-77 should illustrate what's involved.

We have ~60 Thinkpad T450's deployed, periodotically some of them do this weird thing when the users try to wake them up, the volume mute, microphone mute and FN key are all lit, but the screen is off. No matter what we do, we cannot power the machine on/off (not sure of it's state, even holding the button for prolonged periods does nothing). The only solution I have found is to unscrew the back cover and pull the secondary battery, which isn't practicle, espically if a user is traveling. When the laptop comes back on, there is no error in event viewer. Not too sure what's going on?

Hello, I have a very lightly used T450 laptop and the internal battery #1 is not being recognized by the laptop.  I have read in other forums on other devices that the connection might be loose.  It is under warranty but I have no Lenovo service center near me. How difficult is it to access battery #1 inside the laptop to check on the connections?  Is there a detailed diagram / instructions someone can point me to?  If I do this, will it invalidate my warranty (I have nearly two years left). Thanks.

here's the manual:

There is no way the battery can become disconnected by itself.  The connection is very secure.  If you remove the bottom cover, the internal battery is obvious and easy to access.  You won't affect the warranty unless you break something taking it apart or removing parts

Currently I have x230, but need to invest in a new battery for it (some 40 for a genuine one) so not sure If I want to do that since I have had this laptop for a long time now and I'm kinda looking for a larger screen as well and extra battery run-time you get with the new series wouldn't be too bad either.I have been waiting for a moment when the t450 drops in price and you can get one for around 300 now which still has got some 2+years warranty, and I can sell my x230 for some 200 probably. so sounds like a good very cheap upgrade...however...I watched some video today where the guy had opened up a t450 and did and ssd/ram upgrade and It finally hit me- That laptop looks like some cheap chinese pokemon toy compared to x230 or t430 which I also have + it hasn't got the thinklight anymore and generally the t450 looked just very cheaply made.. I'm not looking at the t440 because I see the internet is full about reports about how bad they are.. Probably next year this time the t460 would cost some 300 as well if a new model gets released so I might as well wait for it to drop in price if I get something way better in build quality over the t45... The screen takes a few seconds to turn on, and all of my windows which were open will be resized, and all of my desktop icons are rearranged.Happens every time I open or close the lid, and it's been about a week now.About two months ago, I actually sent this in to Lenovo for some repair from a drop, and they replaced just some plastic parts of the shell and the keyboard. I have a ThinkPad T450. It ls less than a year old. A couple weeks ago the mouse started freezing when using the touchpad. When it happens I can plug in a usb mouse and regain control of the cursor. If I restart the touchpad works again for a while and then freezes after about 10 minutes.
I have tried running all the hardware updates via the Lenovo solution center and windows 10 says it is up to date. This machine came preinstalled with windows 10 it was not an upgrade from xp. I have also manually uninstalled the touchpad driver and reinstalled it. No luck. I have to believe it is a software problem because it works again after restart.
Any help would be appreciated. I am getting really tired of restarting to regain control of the mouse.

Hi, I noticed recently that my touchscreen on my T450 is not working. Also on my computer properties it's says that there is no Pen/Touch input available. Sometimes it appears and still doesn't work and most of the time does not appear. Is there some kind of diagnostic or procedure to check if it's hardware or software related problem?

A:T450 TouchScreen Problem

It is hard to diagnose without seeing it.  Do you have a warranty?  If you do, call support.  When the touch screen isn't visible, do the other USB devices still work?  (Touch digitizer connects as a USB device.)  I don't know what devices use the same USB hub controller, but if other USB devices are also "missing", I would guess the problem is a controller chip on the motherboard.  (USB devices include touchpad, keyboard, USB ports, camera, bluetooth, microphone)  Otherwise, my best guess is the digitizer itself.

Hi! I have had my lenovo Thinkpad T450 intel Core i-5-5300U CPU and 4.00 RAM memory for approximately two years now. Recently, I had an issue with my display as the screen will freeze, slowly pixelate, and turn white after several minutes. This occurs sporadically, usually when I wake the computer from it's sleep setting and ocassionally during usage. I noticed that when I apply minor pressure to the bottom right hand corner of the laptop, the issue will be resolved and suspect the problem is with the connections. Is this a common issue for T450 users? Are there protocols for users like myself to fix this problem or is the problem complex and requires that I take this to the repair shop? Thanks!

I recently bought my third Thinkpad, a T450 off ebay to replace my X230 for studying. It's an i7 model with 8GB RAM and a 256gb SSD. It still has nearly 2 years remaining on the extended warranty. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a 1080p IPS screen already fitted (was planning to upgrade it) - did Lenovo ever ship the T450 with this? It's a late model one, did they introduce it later on in the machine's life cycle? There aren't any visible signs of the screen having been replaced and the seller never mentioned anything (I thought it was coming with the TN HD panel) and the brightness controls in Windows work as they should do on a clean Windows install.
