Microsoft IME (Korean) Right Alt Hotkey not working.

Q: Microsoft IME (Korean) Right Alt Hotkey not working.

I have installed a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit onto a new machine.

Like my previous machine, I tried to change the input language from English to Korean with the right alt key.
It doesn't work. I've checked the keyboard with my laptop, right alt key changes the input language fine.

On my laptop (with working right alt key) in "Text Services and Input Languages" the default input language
is set to "Korean (Korea) - Microsoft IME." This is the only input language that has been set up.
I did the same with my new computer, but it doesn't work.

On my laptop when I hit the right alt key, the language would change as shown in the image above.

On my new computer when I hit right alt I hear the Windows exclamation sound and nothing happens.

Any help is much appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Microsoft IME (Korean) Right Alt Hotkey not working.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all. First post, so I've cautiously donned my flame-retardant Asbestos Jumpsuit...

I have a question for you. I am Running Windows XP (A U.S. Edition), and have installed a Korean IME to allow me to type and view Korean Characters. I've also "Enabled Eastern Languages" on the Regional settings of my computer. (Everything was preformed per procedures set by Microsoft)

I've been able to view Korean Characters on web pages, and the IME seems to be working fine. So far as I can tell, everything took.

The problem is when I try to install and use Korean-made applications. The fonts appear as garbled junk in the applications. For instance, when I need to download a certain type of program for work; I run the installer, The menu options on the installer are all garbled junk, but the "Terms of Service" and other text appear in normal Korean. (IE, the "Yes" and "No" text in the clickable boxes are displayed as something like ǻ or )

My Korean friends, all with the Korean version of XP can use the files just fine, and with no additional software/support.

To make a long story short, I need some of these programs for my job, and am not able to use them.

Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Hi, I've Googled my problem to death but still haven't been able to find a solution. Recently, my computer started to switch to English whenever I press the <shift> key plus another key to type a particular Korean character.

All 5 double letters below and #2 and #4 for diphthongs require shift to type and breaks apart the word.

5 double letters (glottalized): 1. ㄲ (kk); 2. ㄸ (tt); 3. ㅃ (pp); 4. ㅆ (ss); 5. ㅉ (jj).
11 diphthongs: 1. ㅐ (ae); 2. ㅒ (yae); 3. ㅔ (e); 4. ㅖ (ye); 5. ㅘ (wa); 6. ㅙ (wae); 7. ㅚ (oe); 8. ㅝ (weo); 9. ㅞ (we); 10. ㅟ (wi); 11. ㅢ (yi).

Not sure what's going on. I just found one post that said a security program might be responsible. I assume he may be referring to Comcast security suite, since my problem seemed to have started after I updated the security programs from Comcast. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there

I'm a user of Gadwin Printscreen which I have been using for years, I have been using it all week normally i just start the program, hit PrtScn key and it brings up a dialogue allowing me to take snapshots but this time it didn't.

I have tried installing a later version the hotkey does not work on this either, so I put on an earlier image (made last week) I had and the hotkey worked fine, ran windows update, and it stopped working.

Is there any way I can check which program is using which hotkeys ?

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to install the HP System Event Utility from your notebook's support page. This package contains the HP System Event Utility, which enables special function keys on supported notebook models to be programmed. For example, HP System Event Utility enables users to press the Fn+ESC keys to view system information. This package is provided for supported models running a supported operating system. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76001-76500/sp76383.exe

I must have set a windows system hotkey?

I have f/8 set as a photoshop hotkey...recently when I hit f/8 it caused a semi transparent deep blue screen with two large gear graphics in the center to pop up over my screen.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how I set that.

I do have a macro program, MacroExpress running, but it does not have any setting in it for f/8.

I thought it might have come from windows media player (I'm running version 11) but I cannot find any setting of f/8 in the WMP menus.

anyone have a guess how I set this? and how to turn it off?

I shut down my laptops once every week; they're either in sleep mode or hybernating. My P50 is currenly running Windows 7 Pro with all the drivers installed. I have changed bios settings such that the function keys behave as function keys and only act as media keys (or whatever they're called) when pressed in combination with the Fn key. All hotkeys work as they are intended to.However, resuming from hybernation causes only the reduce brightness key (Fn + F5) to stop performing although all other hotkeys work as they should. Pressing the F5 key by itself works normally; its just the Fn + F5 combination that doesn't work.Anyone experiencing this ?

I have a Lenovo Edge 2 (one of the Flex Series) that has been working great for the past 10 months.  I usually use the mouse and turn of the touchpad so I don't accidentally move the cursor while typing.  On this machine, the F6 key enables/disables the touchpad.NORMALLY:  a notification comes up briefly on the screen when F6 is pressed (either a diagram of the touchpad, or a diagram with a diagonal line across the touchpad); there is a "live" icon in the lower right hand tray of the display that indicates when the touchpad is disabled.PROBLEM:  Yesterday evening an automatic Windows 10 update occured, and the touchpad could no longer be disabled (the notification came up, but the touchpad worked even when the notifcation indicated that it should be disabled); also, the "live" icon was gone.  TEMPORARY FIX: I uninstalled the Windows 10 update, and resinstalled the Synaptics driver for the touchpad (from the Lenovo website), and everything is back to normal.  I have prevented automatic updates by making my internet connection "metered", but I work in many places, and use different networks, and don't want to have to keep all of them "metered".MY QUESTION:  Any ideas what this update is doing to mess up my touchpad, and how to fix it? (I would like to allow the updates)?

Making shortcuts hidden does not disable key combinations that you assign to them.

Please check whether key combinations are still assigned.
You can use this free program RJL Software - Software - Utility - Shortcut Key Explorer - Download

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad E560. Above the number pad, there are four keys, a calculator, a lock, a sphere that means "internet", and a folder. Three of them (calculator, internet, folder) work, but the "lock screen" does nothing. I have tried:1. Installing "Lenovo Hotkey Features Integration" for Windows 10 off the Lenovo website2. Pressing the "Fn" key while pressing the lock screen key Neither of these things made it work. The key is not physically broken - if I press it in certain contexts (such as when the Desktop is showing) I get a Windows "ding" sound (the same way you get if you press any other key Windows doesn't recognize at the Desktop). For some reason the system just doesn't seem to know what to do with it, even with Lenovo Hotkey Features Integration installed. This is a brand-new install of Windows 10 on a laptop I just bought (used), so I cannot say whether or not the key worked in the past. I *can* lock Windows using the Windows key + L shortcut. Does anyone have any ideas how to get the "lock screen" key working?

Toshiba Satellite T130- 16w, Windows 7

Several months ago i deleted some of the factory bloatware on my laptop because of slowdown. Though i checked everything was unnecessary before deleting it, i think i might've made a mistake. Since then i've only used mobile internet. Today I came to turn the wireless on the function+F8 key no longer does anything. The little wireless/bluetooth menu does not appear. Wireless is currently off and I can't get it on.

Wireless is turned on in the BIOS. In the device manager it appears as working and enabled. The computer is in every way set up to use it, I just can't get the key to do anything so i can't turn it on. Weirdly, I can turn bluetooth on and off separately, just not wireless.

I've updated the driver for the wireless but the hotkey driver isn't anywhere on the site. I've tried searching it elsewhere but couldn't find it for windows 7. Can I use the XP one, or one from a different Toshiba model? The T130 section just returns no results.

Does it sound like the hotkey is the issue? Does anyone know where I'd find the driver? Is there any way to turn the wireless on without using the function key (there's no switch)? Like through windows? I've been trying to sort it out for 4 hours and gotten nowhere.

Thanks for reading.

Win 7 requires the Toshiba VAP (value added package) installation to get the FN buttons working.
Visit the Toshiba EU driver page and there you can find the VAP for Win 7 64bit

If you need the VAP for Win 7 32bit, choose another notebook series and use the VAP released for another notebooks.
The VAP does not depend on notebook series.

A:Brightness Control Hotkey No Working On Toshiba P105

I assume this is the "push the Fn button and another key" thingie? If so, check to ensure that the Fn key works by pressing it and one of the other functions to see if that works.

Then test the key that you use to adjust brightness - without using the Fn key. Does that key also perform it's designated function?

This'll let you determine if it's an error with the keyboard.

Now if I want to do a letter with a circumflexy, i type ALTGR+ 6, let go of all keys, then press the required letter. this works.

But for some reason, tilde doesnt work (did in Vista). Normally, AltGr + # (tilde is on # key) followed by required letter. Tried using shift, just in case, but no joy.
Tilde works fine by itself (ie shift #)

I'm having difficulty typing in Korean using the "Keyboards and Languages" option on Windows 7.

So this is my procedure so far, including the step where I get lost:

1. Control Panel
2. Clock, Language & Region
3. Keyboards and Language
4. Change Keyboards
5. Select "Korean (KO)" in the "Add..." button
6. Now an Icon with EN and KO appears on my taskbar. Yet, when I try to type with the Korean setting on, my letters still come out in English.

Any help would be much appreciated!

A:Multilanguage Keyboard (Korean)

nevermind i found my solution, but why are a bunch of people complaining about needing "Windows 7 Ultimate" in order to use the MUI (multilingual user interface) feature??? All I was missing was the step where I needed to select Microsoft IME alongside the Korean option. Hmm Im pretty sure Im running Windows 7 Home edition

Confusing, i almost downloaded another program to type in korean altogether!!!!!! damn internet -.- random information

Hi, i've recently bought a game that requires me to download the korean language pack files. I did this and when i go to install them from the control panel it asks me to insert my Windows XP home CD and load a file called "msmincho.ttc".
I bought my PC as part of a package and the Windows XP CD did not come with it. I only received a restore floppy disk from packard bell.
Is there any way of installing these files without the CD?
