I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone. Recently, I've had a computer that has ran windows XP for years. Recently, I switched out my hard drive for a blank one with more space and installed Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit version. Everything installed fine but the screen resolution is too low (640x480). I've tried to change it but it won't allow me too. In addition it does not have any color settings outside of 16bit. I have a standard VGA graphics adapter with an up to date driver. I also completed a windows update for the whole system. What's up with my computer? Why was I able to have a higher resolution on my XP for years and now have such a low one on Vista?

Hey Jaalhu, Most of the laptops have gfx processors so you'd have to swap the proc. For example, Intel HD Graphics 520 or 620 in processor. You can always lookup your graphics properties by searching "msinfo" on your computer then expanding Components and select display. Hope this helps.

Hello, Just purchased the ideapad 500s...love the laptop but after a computer scan through the lenovo solution center, i keep getting a failed result because of the intel graphics 520 hd card.  The 'mathematical operations test' keeps failing.  I have re-installed the driver through the lenovo support website but it did not take care of it.  is this because of Windows 10?  I am thinking there are still some quirks with the operating system and compatability with hardware. Thank you.

A:Ideapad 500s - graphics card issue

I've never owned a Lenovo laptop until recently, I've always bought my computers from Dell. However, a couple of week ago, I decided to purchase the Ideapad 500 and I'm already having an issue with the Intel Graphics Card. When I watch videos, like from YouTube, the images keep scrambling and there is a horizontal, white band of interference that keeps flashing at the bottom of the screen. I've even started getting the blue and black error screens. I ran the Lenovo Solutions Center app and got the same result. There was a failure with the Intel HD Graphics Card, "Mathematical Operations Test." Here is the Results Code: WVC007002-RK8WFH. I checked the Intel website for the latest version of the graphics card to see if mine is out of date, and it is. My version is 10.18.15.4279, which was released, 8/24/2015. The new version is 15.40.10.4300, which was released, 10/26/2015. The recommendations given by the Intel website for updating the driver, seem to address the issues I'm having with the blue and black screens. Anyway, since my driver is out-of-date, I downloaded and tried to install this latest one, but I got an error message, saying it must be done by the manufacture. I then checked Lenovo's website to see if they had it for downloading, but the only graphics card that Lenovo has available is out-of-date too. I have a two-year warranty, but I don't want to ship my laptop just to have my graphics card updated.

Good day and welcome to the community. While your machine does have discrete graphics, the dGPU is integrated (i.e. soldered) onto the system board. It is not a socketed chip or daughtercard. Very few laptops offered any kind of dGPU upgradeability.

Recently I noticed that my resolution was maxed at 1024*768 and i couldnt go any higher than that and in all of my frustration and attempts to figure out why this was occuring i managed to disable my graphics card and now upon startup, everything seems fine while the windows XP logo loading page is up then when the blue screen should appear and the desktop, all i get is a blank screen. It seems like the comp is startin properly, just that i have no graphics. Ive tried to go into safe mode but while it begins to load it then stops at agp440.sys which i then disabled in the recovery console but then it just stops at the previous process and so on.

Does anyone know how I can re-enable my graphics card or fix this problem about not being able to get into safe mode???

I cant find anywhere in BIOS where I can re-enable it... I've also taken out the mobo batt and reset CMOS settings but still no go!!!

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Hi,

So, when I am using the Windows lock screen, especially when I am not currently signed in, Windows tends to set my lock screen accent color to purple, much like my wife's account on the computer. She has chosen a purple accent color for her account, which is fine, except that mine is red. Now, this is not really a huge issue, as everything is normal once I have logged in, but the fact that everyone else's account is normal and it isn't assigning that color to any other accounts is extremely annoying. I've just been dealing with it for the past few months and I'm just tired of it.

Does anyone have any possible solutions to this? Or maybe an explanation as to why this would be happening? Thanks.

Hello,

I'm updating a friend's computer. It already came with Windows 8.1. It's an Asus Transformer T100.

I have this strange problem. Normally, the screen has the correct color and brightness. However, whenever I'm using Windows Mail (Windows 8 app), the screen will change to this yellowish/grayish hue or tint. I switch to another app or a desktop program and the screen returns to normal. Only with this app do I have this problem!

I went to color profiles and management to see if it was a setting. I'm not very familiar with color profiles so I didn't do anything. I did run the screen calibration utility. No fix.

I turned off adaptive brightness.

It's just Windows 8 Mail that has the problem!

A:Windows 8 Mail changes screen color.color profile problem?

I found out what's the problem is.

Asus has a utility called Asus Reading Mode or something like that. You can add apps to that list and any apps on that list will cause the screen to change color to make it more readable I suppose. You can disable the feature by flipping the toggle switch in the app. Then all the apps will maintain the correct screen color.

Hi Yall,
So I have successfully (I think) installed my new Radeon R7 250 "low profile" graphics card on my Dell Optiplex 9020.  I plugged it in the motherboard, started up the computer then went to Device Manager to update the drivers--which I did.  Side note: Ever since plugging the graphics card into the motherboard, some tasks like starting programs or starting windows take 2-10X as long as they used to.  Anyhow, it then asked for a restart, which I did.  The computer still took extra long to start any program, and when I plugged the monitor into the graphics card all I got was a black screen.
Take two:  I then read that I should have uninstalled my current graphics driver (Intel integrated HD graphics) before I installed my new graphics card, but failing this, I could uninstall my old graphics card and change the default graphics card in the bios.  I uninstalled the old card and went to the bios, but could not change the default...can't remember exactly what it called it, graphics controller or something.  I could see that intel HD graphics was still the default (this is after uninstalling intel HD graphics and then restarting) but could find no way to change this.  Supposedly dell will make the switcheroo on its own...but it doesn't seem to have.
Take three:  Next I physically removed the graphics card, restarted the computer, then physically inserted the graphics card again, then started the comp... Read more

Hey all,

I have a question regarding the font/background colors on the Windows 7 log screen. I just accepted a position with a school and a few computers have customized log screen font colors/backgrounds. The Windows 7 classic background is there, but the username and password boxes have been changed. For example, one computer has green text that sits on a black background for both username and password. Another has a different combination of colors. I've searched related topics but am having trouble finding a good, clear cut solution. I basically just want to reset the log screen back to the default white background with black text for each box.

Anyone advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Hi everyone, this is my first post and i hope its in the right place!

Last night i turned on my computer for the first time that day, and all seemed fine; windows logo came up with the little loading bar, but instead if loading the desktop, up came a black screen. Funny thing was that windows was working in the background! I read through people having the same problem in these forums, and it turns out its not an overly uncommon problem; graphics card issue. I booted in safe mode, and uninstalled the graphics card and drivers, and when i rebooted it was fine, albiet in low resolution. i downloaded and reinstalled the drivers from my providers site, and when i rebooted i had the same problem. So now i am sitting typing this (the text looks huge on this resolution) and have a simple question. Is the issue here that the graphics card is broken? I hope this isnt the case as it is an onboard card and will cost about $900 for a replacement. My specs are below (i'm a bit of a gumby when it comes to computers so go easy on me

Do you have the same black screen using an external monitor? If you do, you won't be spending $900 on an on-board video card, you will spend $900 on a new motherboard...

Hey,

I am building a PC for my mate and here are the specs so far:

MOBO:
P5N-E SLI (I bet you heard that 1million times)

CPU:

RAM:
2GB DDR2 800MHz

CASE:
EV Gamer case (with PSU included...)

HDD:
500GB 7200rpm 16MB cache Samsung

OD:
Lightscribe 20x DVD/CD R+W

So now I have a choice to make... the graphics card and screen.

1). He will be using this PC primarily for gaming, which is why I chose a good processor and big HDD.

2). My total cost at the moment is £291.16 (GBP, which is 1/2 dollar).

3). The budget is anywhere in the reigon below £1000, please note I need a screen, speakers (although these will be £50-£100, sound card AND the graphics card, so no rediculously high prices graphics cards.

4). He asked me for good graphics.

5). Must be from http://www.ebuyer.com.

6). Must be 512MB+, I can have 2x 512MB cards or 1x 1GB, but I will let you guys (more experts than me) tell me if 512 or better etc.

Ok, it's a long list but to summ up, it's a graphics card costing up to £200, give or take, anything lower is excellent.
I have been looking at nVidia 9 series and GeForce 8, it must be nVidia.

For screens, currently I have chosen the Samsung 2243NWX 22" monitor with 1680x1050 300c/d 8000:1 screen, which is at http://ebuyer.com/product/145315, although I am open to suggestions on anything else, up to £200-£250.

So i tried taking the card out and booting with onboard graphics and that worked fine. So im thinking how do I set it to boot onto onboard over my gts 250 then maybe try installing the drivers from there in windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I know it is an older system but I am currently using a Dell XPS 420 (Windows 7 HP 32 bit, 4GB RAM,  Intel Core 2 quad Q9300, Motherboard Dell TP406, Bios A07). It still runs well but recently the existing graphics card has been crashing frequently so I have upgraded to a new one - Sapphire Radeon R7 250 2GB DDR3.
The PC meets all the minimum requirements for this card however all I get is a blank screen. I have also contacted Sapphire support who will likely suggest uninstalling / updating every driver , flashing bios, reinstalling windows.... but does anybody here know if there is any reason why this graphics card should not work with this PC / motherboard.
thanks

A few weeks ago I bought a 6200 OC PCI gfx card (BFG) and since I installed, it's been working fine. However, there is a good sized area of the screen that I can't see, but my mouse will go over there. The Windows taskbar ends at the end of what I can see, but I can still move my mouse pointer into the space, and it's kind of annoying. Has anyone had this problem? What should I do? Thanks.

Hello, this is the first time I'm posting something like this to a forum like this and first time I ever had an issue like this.

I attached a picture of the issue.

I was told that it might be the video card/graphics card. Is there a way to fix this issue or do I have to buy a new video/graphics card? Or is it the screen itself?

What happened was i was just browsing the internet, then my screen started to flash and then the blue screen appeared and shut down. I tried fixing the resolution back to 32bit, since its at 4bit and it wouldn't change it back... it stays at 4bit. There's also a vertical black strip on the right side of the screen, as you can tell on the picture i attached. I think it's also crashing my firefox, since its done it numerous of times. I have a HP Pavillion dv6000, windows vista home premium. If you need more info on my laptop, I can find it and let you know. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I'm new here.

Quick history of my comp's problems:
-Bought it and from day 1 it had a blue screen error problem. I tried to track it down myself, but eventually sent it back to where I bought it and they fixed it telling me it was the motherboard.

-Got it back and there were no more blue screens. Hurray! However, while playing games I started noticing strange graphical artifacts (terrain stretching etc). It wasn't a huge problem though, so I ignored it (foolishly).

-The graphics card seemed to get worse and worse until eventually I started getting graphical glitches on the desktop (and following the mouse cursor) and it could no longer play most games without overheating and crashing. I had left it too long to do anything about it and it was out of warranty.

-So I bought a new one to replace it (GeForce 8800GT), which I installed earlier this week. However I now have a blue screen of death problem again. I think it may be the same error I was getting when I first got the comp, but I can not be certain (because I didn't save the info). The problem is:

0x00000F4 (0x0000003 0x8.... 0x8... 0x8...)

So far this has crashed while I have been downloading a patch for and while playing World of Warcraft and has not occurred when running any other games or programs (some of them much more graphically intense), however if my previous experiences are anything to do by, the crashes can occur at any time.
