I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello to everyone, I just bought a brand new Thinkpad P50 with preinstalled Windows 7 Professional. I downloaded Windows 10 from the official Microsoft site on a USB and I tried to upgrade the OS, however the installation failed and I was left with a installation loop after setting region, time zone and stuff like that. Than after a blue screen that said 'Just a moment', my Thinkpad restarts, and I am back at the region/time zone screen, and that goes in an endless loop. After trying several times, I made the bootable USB with the Windows 10 on it, and i realized that my Thinkpad does not recognize my USB even when my other laptop does. The problem is that the BIOS on my Thinkpad is locked by Supervisor Password (which I don't have) and is Read Only, so I can't make any changes. After many hours I tryied to Reset my Windows so at least I have my old Windows 7, and the reset failed as well, (reached only 2%), now I am stuck with only a bootloop, where I get the Lenovo logo and the only option to enter the BIOS, which is locked, and after several seconds, the Thinkpad restarts and that goes in an endless loop as well.   I really have now idea what to do next Thank you in advance to all that will respond Kind regards

ERROR0210: Stuck Key 01 Press <F1> to Setup This is what happens when I try to turn my laptop on. My battery is faulty, so my charging adapter has to stay plugged in at all times. I would normally power off the computer the right way but i began to feel lazy and i would just plug the adapter out, causing the power to be lost. I believe this contributed to my issue (according to my research). This has been an issue for about four months and i stopped trying to fix it. But, a few days ago, I tried again and instead of that usual error, it said: ERROR0210: KEY STUCK 7D I began pressing random keys to see if any were stuck, then the Windows logo randomly appeared.I was able to use it for a couple of days (I shut it down the correct way). There would be a blank black screen and "-" at the top left corner. But in less than 2 minutes it would disappear and i'd see the Windows logo.  This was all going well until last night, when the charger was accidentally plugged out. I tried turning it back on and i kept getting the initial error message: ERROR0210: Stuck Key 01 Press <F1> to Setup I don't know what to do at this point because I really need to use my laptop. Please give your suggestions.

A:thinkpad l440 cpu upgrade?

If you do it yourself it will certainly be cheaper, but the CPU is not considered customer-replaceable, so it may affect your warranty status. If you can do the replacement in a professional manner, so it doesn't look worked on, probably nobody will complain, as long as you keep the old part and replace it back before getting service. The FRU of the i7-4600m is 04X4049. You do not want to get one marked "ES" (engineering sample). The ES parts may not be final versions

A:Lenovo Thinkpad x230 stuck on boot menu

I would need to see it to be sure, but my guess is that the hard disk was logically damaged.  That means the boot record or partition information was wiped out.  It could also be a disk hardware error.  Do you have a backup?

A:When booting I get an Error 0210: Stuck Key 01 Lenovo Thinkpad

Hi Sukumar,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that you are getting stuck key error in your Lenovo ThinkPad.

Stuck key error means that one or more keys on the keyboard are stuck. It's possible that a liquid spill can also cause one or more keys to electrically "short" causing the error. Inspect the keyboard and check if any keys are mechanically stuck.

If you're mechanically handy you can remove the keyboard, inspect any chances of damage or corrosion. Plug it back and see if error is still occurring.

Reset BIOS to default settings. Perform Flee Power ? remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and turn ON the computer.

If none of the above said helped to resolve your concern, I strongly recommend you to contact our technical support for assistance.

Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I?m sure they will be a great help.

Best Regards,

I wish to obtain definitive information about the internal composition of the trackpad for the L440 laptop given my allergy to wool felt. Does the trackpad use any felt cushioning or gaskets? I recently noticed what appears to be small particles of lint around the crevices of the trackpad, but before cleaning the periphery of the pad I wish to be certain that these particles are not from underlying felt material. I would hope to obtain an answer directly from Lenovo. Thank you.

I was originally seeking help in the Vista forum but managed to find out the machine's OS is actually Windows 7, here's the original message with some updates:
Machine isn't mine, we borrowed it from our uncle for my sister to use.
After a couple weeks it stopped working out of the blue, she tells me she was using it one night and it had little battery left and it ended up running out and the machine shut down and she went to sleep, next morning it wouldn't boot.
I imagine the problem is the battery, I used Hiren's BootCD to test it a bit and everything seems fine, I ran a bunch of tests with Mini Windows XP and only thing that seems out of place is the fact that it won't detect a battery when using one of the apps it has that deals with the battery, the laptop does work without being plug in though so I don't know if that's really it.
I tried recovery mode on startup but that doesn't work either, it just goes back to bootlooping.
It's a Compaq.

On the Vista forum someone told me to try Startup Repair with a Vista disc since Vista is the original OS of the machine, obviously it didn't work since it has Windows 7 installed now.
Should I try the same with a Windows 7 disc for starters?

Any help would be appreciated.

A:Laptop stuck on bootloop

I would try the startup repair. Startup Repair does the bios see your hdd, by bootloop do you mean that it shows starting windows then reboots.

I'll go ahead and mention that this might be on the wrong forum as this machine might have had another OS installed but I could find out that this had Vista from the factory (which version of Vista I couldn't find out) so I guess this is my best bet.
Machine isn't mine, we borrowed it from our uncle for my sister to use, computer illiterate as she is she can't even tell me which OS it was using (likely W8 but I never touched it either and asking my uncle about it wouldn't feel right).
After a couple weeks it stopped working out of the blue, she tells me she was using it one night and it had little battery left and it ended up running out and the machine shut down and she went to sleep, next morning it wouldn't boot.

Try running Startup Repair: Startup Repair: frequently asked questions

Do you have a Vista install DVD you can use to attempt repairs? If not, post here and ask Peter (Ex_Brit) to send you the link to the versions of Vista you need, 32 or 64. Include your E-mail address mucked up, like abc at xyz DOT com then edit your post and remove it as soon as you receive the link.

Hi guys, I've recently tried to install Linux on my Ideapad 100. Here are the steps I took..- I turned off fast boot in Windows 10- used the Windows menu to jump into the BIOS- Turned off secureboot and enabled Legacy mode- Insterted USB and got to work It will now boot when I put in a USB and I successfully installed Linux (using GPT partition table, not MBR) however, when I restart my notebook it won't boot. If there is an ethernet cable plugged in it will try to boot from the network, otherwise it just flashes between off and "skipping network boot". So I suppose I had two questions,1. Now that Windows is gone, how to I access the BIOS? As there doesn't seem to be any keys that activate it or the boot order, and2. Should I be using an MBR partition table to boot now that I have turned on Legacy mode in the BIOS? The USB is I am using to install Linux from is System Rescue CD, which is an ISO based on Gentoo Linux. I'm assuming this is set up as MBR which is why the USB is booting successfully as there was no USB boot option in the BIOS - only Windows 10 and Boot From Network. Any direction at this stage would be great, as I hope I can reaccess me BIOS and haven't killed my notebook! Thanks!

So I have a HP laptop. It's a notebook and recently I tried to factory reset it. It got to 3% and came up with a message. The message said something like, "Reset failed" or "unable to complete factory reset". I can't remember exactly. Next, it starts bootlooping the HP logo. When going into safety mode, I tried to reset it again and the same thing happened. I went into safety mode and picked the option that tried to find and fix what's wrong. I've done that twice now. It looks like everything's fine again. It turn on. When I go to log in my profile picture is gone and instead of having me put in my pin, it has me put in my password. After doing so, it says preparing windows. After a while it judt brings me to a black screen with a mouse. The reason I tried to factory reset it is because 10 GB magically disappeared from my storage. The Windows drive only had 12 GB usable for me. It was all working fine other than the fact that I couldn't do anything and icons weren't showing up because storage on the Windows hard drive was so low. So I have a HP notebook running Windows 10. 32 GB hard drive and 4 GB RAM. If someone could help it would be really appreciated. I just got this laptop for Christmas and my parents would be mad that I already "ruined" it. Please help!

New to the forums, so I apologize if I am in the wrong place. Looking for any help, all is appreciated.

I really may have screwed the pooch on this one.

I purchased a new Lenovo y50-70 laptop (non-touch) a month ago, and have been enjoying it for a while, but Win8 was becoming a huge problem, and generally I just like Win7 better, so today I decided to downgrade. I followed this tutorial here: Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7

Everything was running pretty smoothly, I downloaded the Win7 ISO from here: Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River

The specific file was "Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 U (media refresh)"

I have a copy of Windows 7 OEM edition from building a PC, but I decided to download the ISO for the sake of the guide.

Back on track, everything was running pretty smoothly except for one error, I forgot to enable Legacy Mode in BIOS, which I did then was excited when I finally got the Windows 7 installer to load completely (it had been freezing on the "Starting Windows
screen as a result of Legacy Mode being off) until I hit the drive management section. In the screen, I saw 2 drives, Drive 0 (931.7 GB) and Drive 1 (7.5 GB). As per the guide, I launched a command prompt (Shift-F10), DISKPART, DISK LIST, SELECT, and CLEAN'd both of them. Then, when I selected my 931.7 GB drive I was presented with the Error: "Windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error:0x803000001"

If you receive this stop code and Windows doesn't boot forward into the OS, try the following:

? Revert any recent hardware changes

Remove any recently added hardware, especially hard disk drives or controllers, to see if the error is resolved. If the problematic hardware is a hard disk drive, the disk firmware version might be incompatible with your version of the Windows operating system. Contact the manufacturer for updates. If you removed another piece of hardware and the error is resolved, IRQ or I/O port conflicts may exist. Reconfigure the new device according to the manufacturer's instructions.

?If you have recently made changes to BIOS settings, such as changing the controller mode from legacy to AHCI in the BIOS, revert those changes. For more information, see Advanced Host Controller Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Confirm that all hard disk drivers, hard disk controllers, and any other storage adapters are compatible with the installed version of Windows. For example, you can get information about compatibility at Windows 10 Specifications.

A:Laptop stuck in bootloop cant so anything even safe mode

Try removing power and battery, hold power button to release residual power, then plug back in and try again.

Try resetting BIOS to defaults, then using key given on first screen to try to boot WIn7 disk, run Startup Repair. Disable Quick Boot to allow all Self-Tests and screen messages during power on.

Set hard drive first to boot in BIOS in case DVD drive is faulty and blocking HD boot.

Try running WD Diagnostics for Flash Stick by booting flash stick to diagnose hard drive.

If flash stick will boot, then try writing WIn7 ISO to flash stick to boot Win7 disk for repairs. Obtaining this media and writing to stick is discussed in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7

Sometimes the only way to overcome such a boot loop is to remove the hard drive. If that frees up the DVD to boot then you can try another hard drive, or slave the hard drive to another PC to rescue your data and then wipe with Diskpart Clean Command to clear interfering code so that you can Clean Reinstall Windows 7 in the MSI.

All other steps possible are here for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Hello Rx720bfc, What do you mean by ?given up?? Is your hard drive completely dead or it just has some difficulties to be written? If you can still access your drive, my suggestion is to make a full backup of it. I think it is not recommended that you make a clonning because it would copy all the bad sectors and the broken info from them would be transferred to the new drive. If you have not made a backup of your system, nor you have access to the disk, I'm afraid that you would need an installation CD of Windows to make a fresh install /from scratch/. Best of luck.

Hey guys. So I got myself a new motherboard and CPU. So I gave me dad my old motherboard and CPU for him to install on his older PC.
He had an E5200 and a P5G41T-M LX motherboard and I had the E8200 with a EP45T-UD3LR motherboard.
So everything was fine, the computer loaded but for some reason the Windows did not.
I just loaded the windows logo for less than a second, gave a BSOD for 1/4 of a sec and then restarted to do the same thing. Windows repair did not work.
What did work, was reinstalling the Windows. So I did, and now, after a few hours it did it again and I need to reinstall it again! I don't know what to do... Seriously, I'm lost. I've read online about my BSOD error, and it said it might has something to do with HDDs and changing settings of it in the BIOS to AHCI (Sorry if Im wrong, Im not very knowledgeable in this area).
I ran a CHKDSK F like it says in the BIOS error and it said I have a problem there. I don't know what could be the problem, Im sure I connected the HDD correctly to the motherboard...

Please help me, thanks

Thanks!

A:[Partially-Solved] Ideapad 100 stuck in Bootloop

OK, so I got Linux to boot and now have a working bootable environment.I relabeled the partition table to MBR and this seems to have solved the booting problem. At this stage I still have no way to access the BIOS, so if someone can please provide a method for that I'd be very grateful. I'll be marking this thread "partially solved" until that point.

I recently attempted to update my father's laptop, which is a Dell Inspiron N5050, from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I did this by clicking the link for the free update that showed up on the bottom task bar. At first, it seemed to take well, as I was able to play 1 round of War Thunder without any issues. However, after that first round, it started rebooting constantly, and initiated the computer repair program that comes with Windows 10. I attempted every option that was available to no avail. I tried to go back to Windows 7 via the restore point that was supposed to have been created but wasn't, and a message stated that it couldn't find a restore point to restore to. So, after that, it began a bootloop, in which it would boot up, show the Dell Inspiron page with the F2: Setup and F12: Boot Options showing up, then it goes to the black screen of death. After the black screen, it just reboots and starts this process over again with the Dell Inspiron page and the F2/F12 options and so on. I downloaded a copy of Windows 10 and burned it to a disk from the Microsoft website and attempted to just reinstall Windows 10 on top of the bad one. Again, there were no results as the computer is unable to even read the disk in the CD/DVD Rom drive. So here I am, stuck in a perpetual boot loop, getting NO HELP from customer support unless I activate a "support plan" for $200 that I do not have to spend. Can someone please help me?

Confirmed having happened to five separate devices now, so this is not a random glitch. Installing KB4467691 (Windows Security Update) will cause the laptop to hang at the "Lenovo" splash screen at startup. It will have the standard "press enter to interrupt boot" message, but will not respond. SOLUTION: Hit enter at startup before the boot hangs, to access the BIOS. Under Security, disable SecureBoot. Windows should now launch successfully. It's possible that you can then remove KB4467691 and re-enable SecureBoot again, but I have not yet been able to confirm this.

Hello everyone, I have my nephews Acer Aspire ZC-700G All-In-One here and it will not start up.  Just a black screen and keeps restarting once you turn it on.  It displays absolutely no post.  I tried taking the RAM out and resettings the CMOS as well as unplugging the opitcal drive and hard drive.  None of this changed the original condition.  I am thinking its a bad motherboard and have priced it out but I wanted to run this by everyone here to see if anyone has had a similar experiance or advice because I don't want to buy a motherboard for $150 and have it do the same thing. For real, any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!  Thanks,~aether

Sadly, Intel« Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 is not listed in ThinkPad L440 parts list, so it means it will not work.

I hope the above information helped you.

Two ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 TabletPCs will successfully boot into Windows 10 just fine from a hard poweroff.  But once in windows, if i choose Restart, it will hang at the "LENOVO" BIOS  level boot up logo with "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter".   Stuck at Lenovo BOOT BIOS initialization screen, right before handoff to the Operating System. "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" At this point, pressing ENTER does not work.CTRL-ALT+DEL causes the screen to change shade for a moment, but effectively does nothing.Changing the UEFI settings to diagnostics results in black screen.Holding the power switch to force a poweroff, waiting a few moments, and then powering on results in a successful windows startup.  DevMGMT.msc does NOT see bluetooth and there is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" entry under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".  I have run all automatic updates via "Lenovo Vantage" and the manual TPM update.   I can boot into the firmware setup and have had it revert to factory defaults and reverted to factory defaults for all security settings.   I even tried the Win10 repair startup problems, but it says it cannot fix this.

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 does not Restart, requires hard power off. Stuck at Lenovo boot logo.

It looks to me like you have a faulty hardware issue or a serious driver issue. Try the Lenovo recovery to put the device back to the factory windows install. If that fails, I would think you have a hardware issue.

Hi  My Lenovo L440 Screen  is dark. when i connect it to externel monitor i get disply. I tried to replace with another LED. But still it doesnt work. Is there any problem in the mother board ? pelase help

A:lenovo L440

Hi Ms,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

We understand that your display is not working in your L440 laptop.

Issue might be with the LCD cable. Since the external display is working fine there is no issue with the motherboard.

Note: As per the Lenovo policy, the warranty will be void if the laptop is dismantled by yourself.

We would like you to visit the nearest authorised Lenovo service centre to purchase the power supply.

Service Center link - https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/contactus/findaprovider

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best Regards,

Poojitha.

Sorry in advance if I'm in the wrong section, or this has already been posted. I'm new and couldn't find any answers elsewhere.

I just factory reset my Asus laptop. It was taking a long time so I went to sleep and let it do its thing overnight. In the morning, I went and turned the computer. It gave me the usual 3 options (Shut down, start windows, or start some recovery thing). I chose to start windows. After that, the computer booted to the Asus logo screen, and after a few seconds, the computer seemed to shut down and go black. Then the Asus logo came back up, stayed for a few seconds, and then the computer went down again. It was running like that for about 5 minutes when I hard rebooted the computer. No difference. Any info or help would be appreciated.

Specs:
Asus S56CM-DH51-CA

Intel core i5-3317u

6GB DDR3 RAM

Nvidia 635M 2GB VRAM

Samsung 850 EVO series 120 GB SSD (I swapped out the stock HDD and smaller SSD)

Running x64 bit Windows 10 Home

A:Factory reset my Windows 10 ASUS, now it is stuck in infinite bootloop

Did you try the "or start some recovery thing). " option?
