BSOD when Video or recorded webinars are played

Q: BSOD when Video or recorded webinars are played

Hello Friends and Forum members,
I would really appreciate some help with getting my Blue Screen Minidumps fixed. This happens whenever and only when I play videos, whether it is flow player, UTube, or any other videos on my system.
So far I have identified four files as the culprits here and would need help in knowing how to get them fixed.
1. USBPORT.SYS
2. USBEHCI.SYS
3. NTKRNLPA.EXE
4. HALMACPI.DLL

I am attaching the Window mini dump the most recent one and the Blue Screen Viewer results for your information and review.
I would appreciate your help and suggestion on getting these problems resolved.

Thanking you in advance for your help. Warm regards,
Aamir

Preferred Solution: BSOD when Video or recorded webinars are played

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,

Every time I try to play a video on steam my pc crashes. I think the error is related to hal.dll but I'm not sure. I have install a fresh copy of windows and update all the drivers (including BIOS) but the problem still exists. I have also check the CPU temperature using prime95.
I am starting to suspect a hardware issue but I don't want to change something before I'm sure. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

A:BSOD caused by video played on Steam

Had a scan through your dumps and they are all 0x124 errors which relates to hardware complaining and causing the crash
Unfortunately the error output of them all is "Internal unclassified" so as with most 124 errors there is no way to tell a finite cause

Have a read through this thread and try the suggestions Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Your error could be caused by anything from a bad driver or bad overclock to an actual hardware fault, unfortunately its pretty much a case of trial and error to rule out as many possibilities as you can

I have a customer that brought in a DVD-RW and said it wont play in his DVD player but it will play in others. His DVD player DOES support DVD-RW discs. Anyway I am going to burn it on a DVD-R for him. I copied the disc to my hard drive and noticed the video was in the “VRO” format. The video file is listed as a “VRO file”. What is a VRF file and more importantly how do I convert it into a file that can be played in a normal DVD player? I have the latest version of Nero. I choose “make a DVD video” in the projects category and I imported the file. It shows every chapter in the file and it pictures of the video at the beginning of the file. But when I play the file through the video viewing program in Nero, I get no video. But if I play it in Windows Media Player, it plays fine.Moderator Edit: Moved topic to more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I have a webinar coming up and I already have the equipment to record the audio via line in from the telephone. My issue is recording the entire webinar so that the teachers can view it later on.

We have Licenses for Camtasia but it records to Ram until you are done and we don't have a computer with that much RAM and that just does not seem smart anyway. Is there a program or method that I can use to record the screen while capturing the audio from the line in? I have even went to the lengths of getting out a video camera and testing to see if that would work, but the quality is so bad that you can't tell what is going on. As far as I can tell, it would have to be a screen recording program. I quickly looked into Camstudio and that might work but the forums were talking about downloading and installing three different codecs and an Xvid.

This might be a bad question, but is there something that will allow me to record directly from my screen to DVD? We have many computers with DVD burners but the software that I deal with records it all to RAM first.

In short, I need to record two hours worth of a live video on the web. Can it be done? What is the best way?

Thanks.

A:Recording Webinars

You can use Video Recording and select the specific program/window to record. It's not a very good idea to record from your computer to your DvD as space issues, and the fact that it's not going to happen. You can burn it later. It's impossible not to use RAM when your using any program because RAM is the memory the program uses to run. What program are you using to watch the webinars, I think I might be aple to help you if you told the exact details. You can record the outside noise with a mircophone or such along with the video at the same time.Or you can record the audio, record the video, crop the video, then merge it together with video editing programs. I can help with that, but I don't know if there's anything personal.

I recently recorded a video interview using my laptop's video recording, the video was a little over 30 minutes long. When I went to play the video, my computer would not play it. When I try to open it, it says "Can not play. Choose something else to play. This item is in a format we don't support.  0xc1010103" even though it will play other videos I have recorded on the computer. I am not sure if the video was too long or if it somehow got corrupted.  This is a very important video that I need for a class assignment, is there any way I can play it?

Hi, i recorded a streaming video off of the internet and when i came to play it i noticed it was very quiet. I was wondering if there was anyway to make it sound louder without turning up the volume on my speakers? I used the program - Frontcam - to record the video.

I await your replies

A:Recorded Video Sound

Hey!
To record sound: Right click the icon of "volume control" on your system tray bar (on the right bottom corner of the screen) and then go to the menu item "options"->"properties"->"recording" and press the "OK" button, check the proper item you want to recording and then start sound recording.
To record sound from microphone: check "Microphone".
To record sound from other application: check "Stero Mix" or "Mono Mix", the name may be different depending on your system.
Did you do everything like that?

Hey guys, hope you can help me out with a prob i'm having (and it's annoying as hell).

My PC overheated (60 C) a few weeks ago. Fans were clogged, so I cleaned it up nice and good and temp dropped to 49-53. Which is fine since I use a generic fan/heatsink.

But since then I've been getting this video problem, anytime i try to play video, no matter what format (DVD, mpg, avi, online streaming videos), my PC will definitely hang, but you just don't know when. Kinda like the longer you play a video, the higher the chance of my PC hanging. It happens with some games too, I tried playing Divine Divinity (which relies heavily on DirectX), it hangs most of the time.

I've formatted countless times, and it's still like this, so I think one of my hardware is screwed up a bit (from the overheating perhaps, or it's just its time).

I was thinking maybe DirectX or DetonatorXP problem, tried changing versions, no help. BTW dxdiag sez nothing is wrong, except if I try to change the "music" port to something other than the default (first in the list).

I've had this prob for quite a while now, coupla weeks, a little over a month, BUT yesterday I discovered that if I try to use internet phone, it hangs as well. So not just video anymore for god's sake. Also, when it hangs/freezes, there's always a high pitched sound, like someone flatlined.

My setup:

Welcome to TechSpot

Check that your graphics card is properly seated. If there is a fan on it, make sure it works.
Remove and reseat the memory as well while you're at it.
As you had a lot of dust on your CPU-fan, take a good look at the Powersupply's fan and clean it if needed. This might be the "whiner".

Hi recently I"ve converted a few videos with formatfactory and handbrake into .mp4 (ipad optimized) format. However, these videos when played in Wmp 12, the video and audio goes off sync with like a 1-3 sec delay depending on the video.

All my vids are converted with similar info as the original video, such as I keep the same fps, same audio sample rate and audio bitrate. Only thing I changed is format type, bitrate and dimensions. For example since a 10k+ bitrate video takes WAY too much unncessary space, I usually set it to 3-5k instead of the regular 10-20k for .ts files. In an earlier thread, someone told me that bitrate doesn't affect audio/video sync, but rather the quality of the overall video instead.

Now I've also tried using VLC player and MPC (media player classic) to play these "off sync" videos, but they were in perfect sync. So my question is, is this video/audio off sync issue a WMP issue or is the issue with the converted video? Does VLC and MPC have a tendency to "speed up" videos so that it doesn't go off-sync, or is it since they use less memory they are able to play videos better than WMP (which uses way more memory than VLC or MPC)?

Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi y'all. Yesterday I had a weird problem with an .avi video I was watching. It is about 40 minutes long, and played fine until it hit the 28:12 mark, at which point the player froze. At first, I was able to tab out to a different window, but after a few seconds the computer became completely unresponsive. I was forced to reboot the old fashioned way; startup went to scandisk because "one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency." However, no errors were found. I booted into safe mode and attempted to play the video, and the same thing happened (the first time this computer has ever frozen while in safe mode!). Rebooted into safe mode again, no scandisk this time, tried to delete the file using Eraser, and after the first pass, the computer froze again. Booted yet again into safe mode (again, no scandisk), and I ran full scans with Spybot Search & Destroy, MalwareBytes, and Microsoft Security Essentials; all scans were clear.

I was wondering if y'all had any idea what's going on.

I am using Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1.

I had posted a question a while back about setting up a network and with the answers from "Tech Guy"did get a system working just fine. My Desktop is a Dell Dimension 8400 with XP Media center OS and the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista Premium. I have two external drives the one I use primarily in storing my present personal active files including a file that stores recording media which the desktop Media Center gets from the TV cable connection. Then this file is also available via the network to the laptop. With the external drive all my other stored files from the desktop are also available on my laptop. Lately I have had several movie downloads and several repeats of the series "Jag"which play on the desktop but will not play on the laptop with various excuses for them not playing like "Cannot play this format:" or " for one reason or another "not authorized to play". I would think the recordings between the two Media Centers would be identical unless Microsoft has changed that too with Vista. I am very unhappy with Vista.

Hi. I've put this here because I think it is possible a network thing rather than my computer. But I could be wrong.

I'm on a PC with XP spk3 and my broadband speed is 30+ Mb.

In any browser, if I go to Vimeo, Youtube etc and watch higher quality vids I get terrible stuttering of picture and sound, really bad crackling and warbling and drop outs.

But, if I download the same vids, they play fine on my computer.

I've updated everything I can think of and there is no improvement.

My machine is old and slow but this problem started just the other day and it was bad from the start. It didn't gradually creep up.

I'm at a loss. Can anybody make some suggestions?

I can email a small MP3 of the sound if it helps.

Thanks, Colin.

A:Blue Screen Anytime a Video is attempted to be Played.

No DMPs included in the upload. Try this method.
We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Here is what happens: In Media Center, I select the episodes of recorded TV shows that I want to burn to DVD. The process starts normally, indicating that it may take "several hours" to finish. After about an hour or so, at around 25% completion, I hear the DVD burner spin up like it is going to start burning the DV. After a few (less than ten) seconds, it stops and ejects the disk. In Media Center, an error comes up saying: "BURN FAILURE, An error has occurred in burning the CD/DVD." There is no further info nor error codes. It appears that something does get burned to the disk during those few seconds, because the system will no longer recognize the disk and it must be trashed.

I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on an HP system with a quad core processor and 4Gb of RAM. So far, I have tried all the tips that I can find for similar problems (install CODECs, reregistering DLL files, etc.), but nothing helps. I even went so far as to use the original system restore disks to wipe out the computer entirely and reinstall Vista, then let it do all updates (through SP2). Lots of things work better, but this one problem per... Read more

A:Media center wont burn recorded tv to video disc

Hello rmths,
Found this, i am not into burning discs but this may point you in the right direction.
Hope it helps. Good luck and post your results, thanks.

In Media Center, you can only create a video DVD by using a recorded TV show when the broadcast type matches the region that you have selected in Media Center.

Also have you looked at your codec pack ?.

Every time I try to play game or watch a video, either from the internet or downloaded, it freezes my entire computer and I have to do a hard restart. This also happens when any kind of flash plays on a website for more than like 10 seconds. It's been going on for near 6 months now and it's driving me absolutely mad! I have updated everything that I can think of including flash player, chipset driver, video driver, firefox, and even reinstalled windows and nothing works. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration to no avail. I've run virus and malware scans and they came up with nothing. Any help with this would be enormously appreciated.

Recently, for no apparent reason, my avi and MPEG video files in Vista stopped playing audio. I first noticed it in Ulead VS11, I then tried to play them in Windows Media Player and DivX player and still no sound.

When you play them in Windows Media Player, it tells you there is a codec missing (C00D10D1) but I am sent on a wild goose chase. I have tried installing K-Lite and the Windows Vista Codec Pack but neither solve the problem.

All these files played fine with audio up until recently and I can still play MP3 and Windows system sounds and DVDs. I have also recently learned that both Quicktime and Winamp will play them with sound and if I go over to my wife's profile, they play fine there on Windows Media Player.

I used GSpot to identify a problem but all it says is that it uses PCM Audio and no Codec is necessary.

Going back to Ulead Video Studio 11 - I found that when playing the entire Project (as opposed to just the video clip) I also hear sound.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I signed up because I'm having an issue with my computer.

I will get to the point straight away - my computer crashes each time I play a game, sometimes the first minute, sometimes it takes 15 minutes, and sometimes it doesn't crash at all! I've had this problem for about half a year now, and figured I could fix it myself, but I've lost all hope and come to you hoping you could help me out.

Another point to add is that I never physically get to see the BSOD myself, the screen and sound just freezes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Croata

I was playing ARK survival Evolved and got this BSOD. Have been getting BSOD but recently ran CCleaner and it cleaned out all previous BSOD .dmp files. Crashes also happen while playing "Watch_Dogs 2"

I've run Chkdsk on my C:, E:, and F: HDD and they all came back clean. I've run "sfc /scannow" and it showed no problems. I've run Malwarebytes and CCleaner. I've run Memtest and Windows Memory Diagnostic, both had no problems. I've run VMST on my graphics card and it found nothing. I'm at my wits end here and it hurts my feelings a bit to have to ask for help with this. But here it goes. Help please

Edit: Added proper DM log file in addition to just the .dmp

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Hello! I purchased a MSI GTX 550 TI 1GB DDR5 OC last afternoon to replace my Gigabyte 9800GT 512MB OC. All was fine until last night when I suddenly got a blue screen without a code. Rebooted and I thought it was my new webcam, also bought yesterday, because it would hang at the driver installation screen. I also ran MSI Kombustor on my card for ten minutes without issue.

This morning I ran Battlefield 3 again and at first all was fine and no strange GPU usage drops and FPS drops until a few minutes in then it started. My FPS started dropping from 50+ to 3+ and then suddenly a BSOD with System Service Exception. I booted up and it didn't start. My fans started spinning but no BIOS. Tried a few times and got the memory beeps from my board. I reinstalled my old graphics card and tried and it worked so I put in my new one again and it also worked.

The thing is, it was dumping physical memory but no minidump is present in the folder? Should I wait until I get another one or could this be a one off?

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Update your UEFI from the Gigabyte website

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Out of the last 10 memory dumps there were 10 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
