This happened before i even upgraded my processor or even my ram, its missing options like uefi/legacy mode, and other type of stuff. I have the latest version of the bios, and i even tried resetting it by taking out the battery from the mother board, although it didnt work. It would be great if someone can help me out. Preferred Solution: Bios missing options

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey, I recently fully reset my laptop to get rid of all the bloatware that was on it from the factory. When I went to reinstall my two linux distros that I run alongside Windows, I was presented with a new looking BIOS/Boot screen. It said press sex for start-up menu so I did. I looked in the settings but there was a lot missing and nothing like the old text based bios that was on the laptop before.Does anyone know what's going on?

I am trying to boot from the recovery cd and cannot. When I look at the Bios setup utility.Bios device priority there are no choices under the boot device priority to select from. When I attempt to load the setup defaults these are still missing. I am trying to figure out to to solve the NTLDR is missing error and am trouble shooting. Can anyone offer suggestions?

What bios do you have? Try pressing F12, F10, or delete when it boots and one of those will take you to a menu to let you choose which device to boot from.

After upgrading a lattitude 7450 laptop to the latest BIOS, A13, both the IPv4 and IPv6 boot loader are missing when wanting to perfrom a UEFI network boot, Encountered this on all 7450 with BIOS A13. The enable UEFI network stack check box is checked as it was. Any idea where these options went? It is not possible to perfrom UEFI network boot anymore we wanting to reimage it.
The only solution we found around it is to downgrade the BIOS to A12, and then they are back.
Is this a miss from Dell? Cant image they did this on purpose.

So I have a keyboard with a fully functional and fully working Sleep Button on it when I press the Sleep Button it will put my Computer to Sleep. However in the latest versions of Windows 10 they have completely removed the Sleep Button Options from the Advanced Power Options as well as the Change what my Power Buttons do section. I used to be able to tell Windows to Hibernate when I pressed the Sleep button in the Advanced Power Options, However that option is now gone! I have tried using Registry Tweaks/Changes etc,.. and I can not seem to get that option back! Does anyone here know how to fix this so that I can tell Windows to Hibernate when I press the Sleep button instead of Sleeping? I would really appreciate some help with this!

Hello Mossalot, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The power options you have available are determined by Windows for your specific system.

What specific options would you like to have back, and I'll post back with how to restore them?

In the Dell XPS 13 (9360). Using the latest BIOS 1.3.2 (but the old previous BIOS version was the same).

If you go to the "Fn Lock Options" under BIOS, there are 2 options, they are listed as:
Lock Mode Disable/Standard   = The F1-12 Keys behave as function keys
Lock Mode Enable/Secondary = The F1-12 Keys control the secondary functions.

These options are Swapped. If you disable the "Fn Lock" and set the mode to "Lock Mode Disable/Standard", log into Windows, and Press F1, it will then MUTE the system. Even though it should act like an "F1" Key.
If you go back into BIOS, set the mode to "Lock Mode Enabled/Secondary", log into the system and Press F1, then the Help comes up.

The options are swapped on these two configure options. Please update the text in the BIOS to match the appropriate configuration. Thanks. I've included a ScreenShot of the BIOS options. "Fn Lock" does do what it describes (disables Fn-Esc). Doesn't matter if u turn this on or off. If you have it set up as I do below, the Fn Keys are set for the proper Function (F1-F12) operation. However, the text says it should do its secondary functions in this mode.

I have 2 Dell 780's that I would like to reset to factory using the Dell Recovery partition.  These are Windows 7 64bit Pro machines.  The units have 3 partitions, diagnostics, recovery and OS.  I have followed instructions to start the recovery process and can successfully get the units to boot to the standard windows restore options page, but the expected last item "Dell Factory..." is not present.www.dell.com/.../how-to-restore-your-windows-7-computer-to-factory-settingsI do not see Dell Backup and Recovery installed.www.dell.com/.../DriversDetailsThere is nothing on the C:\ partition I wish to retain and want to do a clean (re)install, ideally on a formatted drive.  I would like to keep the recovery partition functionality intact so this can be done again.  I rather not do an upgrade where I get left with a windows.old folder and other unused folders in the root directory.Related:1 - I think I read somewhere that recovery can only be done once.  Is this correct?2 - Does recovery also include the Cyberlink software?3 - From where is the System Recovery tools run? Also have seen this:  en.community.dell.com/.../20141229

Have you recently run any Registry Cleaners and/or Tweaking Utilities? These things cause more problems than they claim to fix...

Regardless of how this happened, have you tried using System Restore to go back to a point before this problem started?

Hello all. I just built my computer, and installed a copy of Windows XP I..."acquired", with service pack 3 slipped into it. Everything works fine, but a few folder options seem to be missing. Firstly, the "Common tasks" sidebar is gone. I've looked online, and all the sites say to just check the check box under tools. Well, it's checked, there's just no sidebar. Secondly, I'm missing a bunch of the folder radio buttons in the view panel. Lastly, when I'm going through My Pictures, and have Filmstrip view on, I don't get a large preview image, just small thumbs. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

i am new to this forum and I registered because I hope that you can help me with a problem. I just reinstalled Windows XP (SP2 with IE7) and unfortunately my CD has some problems because the installer could not install 2 or 3 files. I just skipped them and Windows is running fine except from one problem in the wireless LAN configuration: I can delete networks but I cannot edit them nor can I add a new one. Nothing happens when I push one of those 2 buttons (add or delete network).
Maybe it is just a missing *.dll file, I have no idea, but I would really appreciate any help.
Thx in advance!

I'm missing some buttons and options from my display settings, and I have no idea why. Back story: I tried switching my video card drivers (going from omega drivers to ATI's new Catalyst suite), so I uninstalled my omega drivers, rebooted, and the ATI installer couldn't complete its installation. I downloaded and installed the new .NET Framework 3.0 because that was one of the problems it listed, but that didn't help any. I still had this problem:

"Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."

Tried it a few more times with just driver and no control center, older versions I had - nothing worked. I used the catalyst uninstaller to get rid of what it had stored on my comp, then reinstalled my omega drivers - no problem with them. So out of curiosity I go through my Windows' display settings in the advanced area, and I notice I'm missing a lot of stuff I know was there before. On the Adapter tab there is now NO info in the Adapter Information box; on the Monitor tab it no longer lists my monitor in the Monitor Type box, the properties tab is grayed out, and in the Monitor Settings box I can no longer select a screen refresh rate; all it has is "Use hardware default setting." And of course, I'm missing all the tabs I used to have for my video card's settings and options. Any help as to how I can get my Windows' display options back and how to get it to re-recog... A:Missing Display Options

Solved my own problem this afternoon. It seems all the back-and-forths with the drivers caused Windows to stop recognizing the hardware for the video card and the monitor as being connected, which is why I wasn't getting any options (it thought there was nothing connected to provide options for). I used the Add Hardware function in the Control Panel to add my card and monitor, loaded the ATI drivers I wanted and restarted - problem solved.

Last night my friend turned my home computer off using the power button on the located on the tower because he was frustrated that Fireworks wasn't opening properly. Usually the computer will go to a blue screen saying something like "Scanning drive C:" I usually can skip right over it because it give u the option to by clicking any bottom. Well first it would only get to 74% and either just freeze the computer, or freeze than restart its self. Going thru the process all over again.I use to be able to get into Safe mode, and i could see that all my files are still intact. But for some reason, now when ever I turn the computer on. Also if i try to set a screen saver by going to control panel it tells me that the administrator has disabled the display control panel ??? I have done no such thing I think. but I can set a desktop background by right clicking on an pic file and telling it to apply as desktop back ground.

Thanks SLoPpy

A:personalize options missing

Hello SLoPpy, and welcome to Vista Forums.

This sounds like the work of malware. I would strongly recommend running a very thorough antivirus and spyware (ex: Spybot Search & Destroy) scan to help clean your computer.

You might see if a System Restore using a restore point dated before this problem can restore your computer back to normal. I would then run another scan afterwards to be extra safe.

If a System Restore does not help, then these tutorials can:

Enable Control Panel:
Control Panel - Enable or Disable

Enable Desktop Background:
NOTE: You should be able to change back to a DreamScene afterwards.
Desktop Background Wallpaper - Prevent Change

Enable Screen Saver:
Screen Saver - Add or Remove Option

Hope this helps,

Hey guys ,

I just bought a sharp Aquos 32" LDC full HD (its beautyfull ) .I mainly bought this to use with my pc . I bought some 180$ dvi to hdmi monster cables hooked em all up and WOW ! Looked awsome.. So i messed around with it for a while changing zoom, stretch, dot to dot ect .Finnaly i got the tv's view mode to normal no stretch and filled all 32" perfectly with my desktop and the resolution was something like 2040x1200 or 1920x1080 not sure exactly..i should have wrote that down but close to that..

Now that i know it worked great i wanted to clean my pc by imaging dells factory ghost .
That flew without a hitch, but now i cannot for the life of me figure out why i cant get my tv to have the correct resolution as i did before the reset . In the display options in the settings tab the tv's screen res only goes up to 1360x768 .I noticed on my secondary monitor (my original 17"crapbox) that its res could go way higher like giant size having to scroll across the screen to see your start button res .So i try boosting the res on the 17 " and the monitor flickers off and says out of range.. So i changed the nview settings to clone instead of dualview thinking if one monitor doesnt take the high res the other will ..It worked but being in clone view im not getting 16:9 res settings ..So i try to set the lcd as the primary and the res went back to 1360x768... so then i said ok lets just use non 16:9 settings and try to set the res so it fits at le... OK seems that it was all a driver issue... I dont know why dells drivers dont include support for wide screen hd video and i dont remember downloading any updates before i did the factory update... anyways... I have another weird problem , maybe its not a problem but it seems like it is..

In my advanced video settings in preformance and quallity settings
i have the antialiasing settings . Now as i can remember i was always able to set this to "application controlled" and was also able to manually set it.. now If i check the box next to application controlled and press apply the check doesnt stay and it simply sets antialiasing to off .. I dont get it, cause now every game i play i feel i have to set the antialiasing accordingly manually .
Another thing after resetting to factory. When i right click on the desktop it doesnt respond right away it takes a few seconds then opens my desktop properties...Usually it was always super fast.. Its probably me being extreemly picky.. but who knows..

thanks for your time !

From the number of posts on this subject this appeears to be a common problem. Hoever, I still have not found the answer to my problem : Some options on the Send To box do not appear, despite them being in the hidden folder C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendToA\. list of the files that are there are in the attachment.

The following are missing from the Send To menu :

Compressed (zipped) folder, Documents.mydocs, Mail Recipient. The "One file to Mail Recipient" is something I added since I have had the problem and it allows me to send one file to a mail recipient, not several files that the missing Mail Recipient option used to do.

I am using Windows 7 Pro with SP1, Email client is Thunderbird ver 31.3.0 and it is set as the default email client. I have tried re-installing T/bird but as I suspected (since other options are absent) it did not restore the missing options. I have also tried copying the options from the "default" send to folder and also writing new files in my send to folder, without success. I do not see the missing send to options when I press Shift before selecting a file either. I suspect the problem lies in the registry - it is clearly a problem with not just the Send To > Mail recipent link. I have used Ccleaner to "clean" the registry in the past. I have had this problem for a while now and I cannot roll back the system to a time when it worked. Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

Have you ever seen a BIOS that has absolutely no boot options other than the internal disk.

I bought this little 11.6" Asus X205TA 1.0 laptop which is actually a handy little device. It obviously has no optical drive but 2 USB ports. But the temporary and permanent boot order does only allow booting from the internal disk. I am really stuck if I want to e.g. recover from a Macrium image.

I guess I will have to make my own refresh images. And even those I can only use as long as the machine functions. Any other ideas.

A:BIOS with no boot options

That's a new one on me, Wolfgang. Seems your only option is something like Paragon Migrate and a spare SSD to swap in case of catastrophe.

Where can I find an operating manual for the HP branded motherboard? My Oct. 2016 (build date) Omen 870-030vx desktop has 4x SATA connectors on the MB (Z170 chipset).  It has a 512gig SSD boot drive attached to SATA#1. I attached 2x 6gig HDDs to SATA#3 and #4 thinking that HDDs are usually connected in pairs for RAID such that channel 1 would be SATA#1&#2 and channel 2 would be SATA#3 & #4. The BIOS set up lets you change from AHCI mode to RAID but it never gives you an option to choose which set of HDDs you want to place in the array - nor does it have an option to choose RAID "0" or RAID "1", etc. If RAID is choosen in the BIOS then the computer fails to boot.  What have I done wrong here?

A:How to set up RAID in BIOS - not many options

Hi: You can't just switch the controller settings without making some changes in the OS registry, or the OS will not boot. Please see this related thread.  Should be the same for W10. https://communities.intel.com/thread/28709 Unfortunately, I have no idea where you would find a manual for the motherboard.  The only guides available will be on the support page for your PC. You may be able to use this general guide for how to set up a RAID array...starting on page 15 http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03519601

I have two bios options in the bios that will probably make the pc faster, but I want to know that it is safe. The first one is the HT speed, it is set at 400, but I can set it to 800. Should I do this?

The second is the DRAM Dimm voltage adjustment. I have geil value ram ddr400 running at 227 fsb with 2.5-3-3-6 timings. The voltage is set at 1.6, should I set it to 1.65?

Will these settings make a performance difference?

A:Weird Bios options I don't get?????

hey there,

The ht speed is the bandwidth between the CPU and the AGP slot. You dont really need to up it unless your having trouble with your graphics card.

The only reason you would need to up the voltage on the RAM is if you have overclocked it. If you have then a higher voltage will make it more stable. If you havent, you'll just be giving it a higher voltage.

Hope this helps

how to open more options in bios? my bios's version is J01 v 2.25 i want to show more setting

A:how to open more options in bios ?

Abdo2, welcome to the forum. I am not certain that you can see more options in the BIOS.  Once you're in the BIOS, you can use the arrow keys to move from section to section and through the options in each section.  If the option is greyed out, it means that it is not available.  HP keeps their BIOS options to a minimum. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.
