Compatible video cards for this pc? plz help!

Q: Compatible video cards for this pc? plz help!

Hello! My computer recently took a dive beyond my ability to repair myself. I just purchased a new tower from ebay to replace it, this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290753930263?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I know its nothing fancy and I don't care much to hear "oh you should have just spent 700 dollars on this computer or that computer because the one you bought is junk" that seems to be the response I've gotten from people on other websites after asking this question. I have an Asus republic of gamers laptop that I use for my real system intensive games, all I really want to be able to run nice on this new desktop is WoW and similar games, maybe left 4 dead and bioshock, that type of thing.

Anyhow - My original plan with this "new" desktop was to take my 4 gigs of ram (2 2gb sticks) and my video card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161252 ) out of my now broken pc and simply put them into the "new" desktop. But I am looking at the pictures of the inside of tower (on the ebay page i linked above) and it seems to me that I will not be able to fit my card into the PCIe slot, It appears in the picture that the case fan is going to be in the way of the fan assembly on the video card. Would it maybe be an option to relocate the case fan a little bit just to get it out of the way of my video card? Or am I going to have to fork out money for a new skinnier video card? If so, can anyone give me any good recommendations on a good powerful card that will be compatible with this computer and not cost me an arm and a leg? Like I said I don't need it to be too incredibly powerful, just something similar to the current video card I have that will fit and be compatible with this computer.

sorry for the lengthy read, and any input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an integrated ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics and i'm interested in getting a video card to put in. Does it have to be a ATI brand or would any brand work? The system is a Gateway DX4200-09. Any comments would be appreciated. Also I tried putting in a GeForce 9600 GT but after a while the screen freezes while gaming and I have to restart the whole computer.

A:Compatible Video Cards

That card should be good enough as a basic upgrade, that is if you have upgraded the the PSU too. 300W is not nearly enought, you neeed 450W minimum otherwise you will get problems.

Have you upgraded the PSU?

I built a computer for a friend whos mother board went bad (old AT computer). The new computer worked great at my place. when he
plugged in his older monitor It went black. He had another one kicking around and he was able to get it to come up with 16 colors etc. but it wouldn't shut down when you shut down the computer. He had to download the drivers for the video card to get the resolution back. the video card is a PNY GForce4mx440 with 64megs of DDR RAM. Is there an issue with older monitors and newer video cards? Can one hurt the other? Thanks in advance for the help.

A:Are old monitors compatible with new video cards?

The only thing I see that would be a problem with an older monitor is that you may have trouble finding the right driver for the monitor and and older monitor doesn't have as many hours left as a new one.

have recently come into posession of ati pci express 700 video card will it fit into my dimensions e-310, if not what is the best gaming card that will and where might I find a place to trade the ati card? ,not looking to spend alot $100.00 or less preferably..want to run games like fear and some of the aeria.games online games without texture and lighting problems.will take even up trade on good card that will fit this machine.

A:Compatible video cards for Dimension e-310

Your system has a pci-e x1 slot, while almost all video cards use the pci-e x16 slot. So if you have a x16 card it won't physically fit in the x1 slot. (unless you use an adapter, or melt the connector to allow larger cards to fit)

There is a very limited selection of pci-e x1 cards available. Of the cards that are easy to buy and in your price range, the x1550 pci-e x1 would probably be best. There are better cards(7300gt, 8400gs, etc), but they are either more money or hard to find.

Also, you could get a pci video card, like the 8500gt.

I am trying to upgrade my video card. I purchased GTX 750 TI and a new 500W power supply, but I couldn't get it to work. I did some research and found that there could be some bios compatibility issues, and the newer video cards may not work with the older Cleveland motherboards.  I will be returning the card and power supply if I can't make them work. My computer still works fine with the old video card for the most part, but I am having some video card related issues when trying to run some apps. What would be the best/most powerful video card that will work with the IPISB-CH Cleveland motherboard? I have an ASUS motherboard with nVidia 650i chipset, and I wanted to know if it's possible for me to use an ATI Video card (PCI Express x16).

I was told by "Tedster" that video cards are generally not dependent on chipsets, and that's what I've heard before. However, I wanted to see if anyone has personally used an ATI video card with a nVidia chipset before I drop $150 on a card.

A:650i Chipset compatible Video Cards

Yes. Just be sure you download the driver from ATI, then disable the driver on the board as you install.

Hi:I read several messages in forum about problems with some video cards. For a Dimension 4550, NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT and GeForce 6800 GS are the best options. Somebody is using ATI video cards for Dimension 4550? I know that ATI Radeon X1300 is not working for this model, but what about other ATI models? What about ATI Radeon X1600 or ATI Radeon X800? Please let me know. Thanks for your help, szarate

A:Compatible Video Cards for Dimension 4550

***   ***  UPDATE  ***  ***
It would appear that forum poster, wizard2u, successfully installed an evga 6800gs in his 4500.  I can't speak for other brands, but that card worked.  So disregard information you see below except for the benchies.
I'm going to give you an update on using 6800gs cards in your 4550.  It appears that the 6800gs is too long and bumps into an ide hard drive connector on the motherboard.
This picture posted by Pro depicts the mobo of a 4500.  The case dimensions and motherboard diagrams of the 4500 and 4550 are the same.  Thus the 6800gs will not fit as Pro states.
The next links show the relative speed of the 6600GT in comparison to the  Ati offerings you mentioned.
Granted these benchies are run in computers with faster cpus, faster memory,  than a 4550, and with pci-e vid cards.  The only point is to demonstrate that the 6600GT is faster than the ATi solutions.
The only hope is that nvidia will release the 7600GT as an agp card and make it shorter than the 6800gs.

Is the m6600 compatible with either or all m7820, m7740 video cards?  Compatible means physically and has windows 10 drivers.  Thanks

A:m6600 compatible with m7820, m7740 video cards

Windows 10 drivers won't be an issue -- and while the system does take a standard MXM III card, neither of those were shipped with this model, meaning the BIOS likely won't recognize one.  Beyond that, you may end up having to custom-make a heatsink to fit the card -- don't count on the AMD and nVidia heatsinks (they're different on this model) fitting non-OEM cards.  In all, you're in for a very  expensive experiment that has a high probability of failing.
The system shipped with  Fire Pro M8900 and nVidia Quadro 3000M, 4000M, and 5010M cards -- anything else and it's an experiment.

Hello everyone,

I have a rig I built 4 and a half years ago that I'm trying to upgrade piece by piece, which includes the following hardware:

- AMD 64 4800x2 2.4 ghz
- 2gb ddr500 ram
- ATI Radeon x1900xt 512mb
- a8r32 MVP-deluxe motherboard
- 500w cooler master power supply

I obviously need to upgrade this system to play some decent games and for 3D animation, and I wanted to upgrade my videocard specifically, I was looking at the radeon 5850 as it has some pretty good specs and isn't too expensive. I will upgrade my mobo and everything later but I can't until I allocate more funds. Would a 5850 be compatible with my mobo? (it would only be temporary). I already ordered a new power supply @ 1080w for decent power, I just want to get rid of this x1900xt as it overheats like crazy and causes artifacts constantly. What would you recommend i do? My next mobo will be good and i want to upgrade to a quad core phenom or maybe an i7..I'm on the fence when it comes to processors. Thanks for reading.

Any PCI-e x16 video card will work... Your motherboard can accommodate 2 of these video cards

Hi. I got a 2-3 year old Lenovo Yoga 500-14ACL laptop, Machine Type Model: 80NA002MMX, with the newest BIOS firmware from Lenovo, in which I got a Linux distro installed to a partition.  My only problem is, the WiFi does not work, as there are no drivers available for this card on Linux systems. I tried as a last resort to use a program called "ndiswrapper" to install the windows driver in my Linux distro with the help from Linux professionals, sadly it did not work. Now my only chance is to purchase a new WiFi card compatible with Linux distros (not a USB WiFi plug), so my question is, where is that "whitelist" which Lenovo has implemented into the BIOS online? I have searched online, but I cannot find a list containing compatible cards. I see many users has purchased cards previously without being aware that Lenovo reject certain cards, and that is exactly what many users report, the card is rejected by the BIOS, and the users are left with a card they can not use. Before I order a new WiFi card, I want to make sure the card I order is compatible in my laptop. I came from the store I bought the pc today, and the techicians there were very surpised that Lenovo in fact had such a list in their BIOS, and they were not aware about it until I informed them. They told me that all they could do is to contact Lenovo directly by mail, so they recommended I did that myself, in which this forum post is all about. What WiFi cards are in the BIOS'... Hi there,

I'm looking into buying a "Rosewill Silicon Image RC-209-EX PCI External e-SATA x2/ Internal SATA x4 1.5G HDD Controller Card" and maybe im just losing it from staying up all night hardware shopping but the pci connector looked odd to me. Researching it I see that it is a Universal pci card, for 2.3 pci, compatible with 33mhz or 66 mhz.

Now my mobo has only 2.2 pci's but as i understand it 2.3 universal cards are backwards compatible with 2.2 slots, and since the card has 33mhz and 66mhz functionality, the only concern would be its voltage, which i do not know, but which seems from my research to be fine either way since 2.2 supports 3.3volts which is what 2.3 pci's are.

just wanted to double check before i shelled out the cash, that this card would probabliy work in my system.

well i just bought it, will let you know how it works

I've just found a bargain of a XFX 8800GTX XXX and the question I have is whether it's compatible with a BFG 8800GTX OC2 in SLi mode?

The XFX card has a central clock of ~4mhz more than the BFG, but I suppose that either downclocking the XFX or overclocking the BFG should solve the problem with different clocks. The rest is the same.

Well, what do you people think?
If you help me out with this I'll become more active in the forum again

A:Are these cards compatible in SLi?

Hard to say, but I'd expect they wouldn't be compatible in SLI.

Nvidia says that as long as the actual GPU chip is the same model and revision, and the memory is the same, then they should be compatible. However many people have stated that combining different manufacturers cards, regardless of specs, just doesn't jive.

IMO - Unless the cards are 100% identical, you're not guaranteed that it will work.

I'm sure that's not what you really wanted to hear, but it is what it is, I guess. Bottom line, they may work, but don't count on it.

Hardware upgrade on mobile machines is very limited and most information you can get about supported upgrade for HDD or RAM. Upgrade for all other hardware components is not supported so there is actually no info about hardware compatibility.

Nobody here can offer you the list with 100% compatible WLAN cards.
Which WLAN card is inside of your old L10?
Have you tried to install WLAN drivers from Toshiba Wlan portal - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

Download driver from there and install it. maybe this will help you to get WLAN card working properly.

Does anyone have a list or know  what graphic cards that are compatible with M3970AM-HP(Angelica)?  I'm currently using Asus Radeon HD 7770 Ghz card and Corsair CX600M PSU.  I already know the R series and 700 series and up are not compatible.  I want upgrade to HD 7800 or 7900 series card.

View Solution.

A:Angelica compatible graphic cards

Guiduf, any gpus from gtx 7xx and up, along with their amd equivalent, will not work with that motherboard. need bios version 8 or newer for the newer cards to work and hp is not going to release a new bios update for that motherboard. at the most i would recommend nvidia gtx 670 since that's the biggest card that will fit the case. if you want to run a newer card you would have to get a whole new computer. a motherboard swap is essentially the same thing and requires formatting the hard drive to accept the new motherboard.

Thought you would like to know what sites I wanted to go on XP. F I even can.

I am looking for graphics cards that don't require 400W power supplies. I don't thing the average card uses all the 400W of power, but what is a good PS for graphics cards?

I am setting up external graphics with a PCI-e to x16 PCI adapter that offers 8 pin power connector. You can find it here:

Along with the adapter, I am looking for an 8 pin to 6pin/8pin adapter (8pin female on one end, and 6 pin plus an 8 pin male plugs on the other).

I am looking at this PSU:

Also, I am using a Toshiba Satellite C75D-B7230. I have removed the network card without any flaws or error messages, that was plugged into the PCI-e slot.

Any replies are greatly appreciated!

I purchased an Asus Geforce GTX 750ti graphgics card to install in my Lenein H50 50 PC. On the store's website it said that the maxmium wattage output that the pc required to run that graphics card was 150 watt. On the graphics card box it says the munimum requirement is 400 watt. Is this going to be OK? Also, in terms of physically installing it, thew card requires a free PCI express slot. I know nothing about the internal workings of PCs but when I opened up the case, I do not see anything thet resembles a PCI express slot. If this card is not compatible, can anyone suggestr a similar card that would be. Thanks, Paul

A:Compatible Lenovo h50 graphic cards?

It looks like that should work. Your power supply can handle it, and I see a PCI express slot on your computer's motherboard on the hardware manual. I'll suggest to get it from a retailer with retun policy, just in case it doesn't

A:Which graphics cards are compatible with my motherboard?

You can't always tell with brand manufacturers since sometimes they will have the MB makers modify their boards. However, in this case it looks like any of the AGP video cards will be compatible with the MB. Where you will have to watch things is the card's power requirements. Many of the brands will have a PS on the small (meaning output) size.

HELPPPPPPPPPP... I'm SO sorry, this is a long post...My AMD 6670 graphics card died on my 4 year old HP - the motherboard is a M3970AM-HP (Angelica2), my PC - HP Pavilion Elite h8-1150z CTO... 460watt PSU...I had an old GeForce 8500 GT in another PC, so I installed that one & got the computer to work for a couple weeks, after that I started getting the dreaded "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 342.01 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." It was doing it every half hour or so, then in the past several days it became literally every 2 seconds, then it started the BSOD, & cycling, not starting at all & after that I could only get it to boot in safe mode...So assuming I needed to buy a new graphics card & not being very hardware savvy (I THOUGHT I had done a good job researching what WOULD work in my system) I purchased the new EVGA GTX 1050 TI SC, I installed it this past weekend & now my PC's stuck at "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" blue HP screen, it will not start, & if I hit the ESC key it brings me to a black screen with white text listing some specs & something about BIOS & if I hit the esc key in that window it just adds another white text line - "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu"...I've been reading that maybe updating a BIOS would fix it, so this morning I found & updated the BIOS, well it still will not start with the EVGA GTX 1050 TI, BUT I tried putting the old GeForce 8500 GT back in, ... A low profile AMD\ATI Radeon HD6450 will work. That is probably about the best card you can install in your SFF desktop PC. See the discussion in the following thread link.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/Adding-video-card-to-dc7800-SFF-no-vide...

Hello, I have a p7-1234 with an upgraded power supply running an AMD r7-250 2gb GPU. I would like to know what the most powerful, best card that I can use with this older computer. Thank you for your help!

A:Looking for a list of compatible Graphics cards

Coolartcaleb, welcome to the forum. HP doesn't have a list of video cards that are compatible with their computers.  However, newer cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  There is no way to upgrade the the BIOS to UEFI. The last video cards that didn't require UEFI are the GT 640's.  Your best option is to choose a manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best card for your computer. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.
