I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! I don't know if this is in the right thread but I have a problem. I play alot of CSGO. Recently my computer has started freezing after about 15-20 minutes. No other games do this, only CSGO. Heres my specs
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 965 3.41 GHz
GPU: Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 5850

I have a couple of problems with my computer. It is a Gateway about 3 years old. I'm at my work computer so I'm not sure of it's memory ,etc. I have several problems. When I open programs someitmes after I close them the screen will not disappear. If I open another program on top of it I can move the screen where it erases all things on my screen leaving only the screensaver. When I'm on the internet and I try to open a secondary screen it says the program is not responding and I have to X out of the original screen and reopen Internet Explorer. I have used Norton, spyhunter and Yahoo anti-spy to see if it's a virus or adware. Everytime I reboot my computer it tries to run CHKDSK and asks me which version of Windows XP to run. Lastly, I can not defragment because I get an error message saying that it needs to run chkdsk f anto chkdsk c but won't let me change the drive. I am not that computer literate but have searched the microsoft website but found no answers. Can I do anything about these problems or should I just buy a new computer? Maybe just get out the Windows disks and start new? The compputer doesn't hav much on it because I only have dial-up in the country and I have plenty of memory left on it.

A:Major Computer Problems

I am making this suggestion in a strong way - Please backup all of your important data on all of your hard drive(s). If the system keeps asking for chkdsk to be run there is a problem with the hard drive and eventually it is not going to work and you will be up the creek without a paddle to row with. You are at the beginning of a hard drive failure or a complete system failure.

Make sure you have the original install software from Gateway for your computer you will probably need it.

The reason your system wants to keep running chkdsk is because it sees problems on your hard drive and apparently it can not fix them so it wants to keep running it.

If I am scaring you I do apologize but it is coming.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me.
My PC has been playing up real bad lately and whenever I turn it on, I get an error message, stated here:

I have tried doing scans with AVG and Avast, with no avail to my PC getting any better.
Whenever I start up the computer aswell, Windows Defender isn't turned on, nor is my Anti Virus and it won't let me download Windows Updates either.
Another problem is Google redirects me to other sites, but I can easily fix that myself.
To be honest, I've tried alot of things to fix it, but I think it's at the end of it's life span even though it's like two years old...
I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate with a ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro video card.

My computer had a general trojan virus and some one took the virus off my computer but now my computer constantly plays music out of nowhere, even when I have no music on. My computer also runs really slow now and the internet constantly stops working and restarting. The last problem is that when I turn on the computer, it asks me if I want to start it in safe mode, normal mode, etc. What do I do?! I'm so confused as to how to fix any of these problems.

Megaupload was deleted it was installed with my MEGA Managers and AIM was never installed...2) Why is Google Desktop bad, I have used it for almost 2 years or since its inception and never come across any problems with it.3) CA Internet Security Suite is a program Time Warner offers with Road Runner customers. Its antivirus is decent and is constantly updated but its firewall is a pain u have to disable to download files or you get .efw files then enable it back.4) I don't remember where i downloaded uTorrent I would say its website, but I can not state that for sure, I always try to use the products website though.5) Myspace IM, I have used since it was created, I use it to keep in touch with my niece who uses it, its just like AIM, Yahoo, and Windows Live.6) Yes I have tried using the directions but nothing cleared up, should I send another long... I can even explain to you how much trouble I have had with this computer. It has been sent to the service department 3 times and they have yet to fix it. Help will be so greatly appreciated.

Problem: After computer idles for about an hour or two the audio will become choppy, video performance will become laggy/staticy. It will also seem as everything is slowing down. As time progresses it gets worse.

Solutions: Only way I can get rid of this is to either restart the computer, or put the computer to sleep while it isnt lagging. This is really frustrating me because computers shouldn't do that.

Things I have tried: I have re-installed all the drives for audio/video, restored computer several times, updated bios, sent to repair tech 3 times to HIGH LEVEL Tech.

Weird Occurrences: For about one or two weeks the computer was working 100% fine nothing wrong what so ever. Then, after a lightning storm it started messing up again.

It is a Intel Quad Core Processor, 8 gigabytes of ram, 1g video memory. Vista premium 64bit.

Someone help, im really desperate.

i am trying to re-build my computer, and when i turn on the power button in the back of the computer my computer turns on. The power button in the front of the computer does not allow me to turn off the computer, so i need to unplug it in order to turn it off or flip the switch from the back. About a minute or so when i turn on my computer it makes an alarm sound, and the only way to get rid of it is to turn it off. Is there anything i can do to completely reset all of my memory and start from scratch? How can i rebuild my computer so i can use it? What would be the cause for the alarm going off.

Thank you for any help.

I have had severla computer problems today. I am using an HP Laptop running XP. It started this morning where the computer froze up several times so I pulled the plug and the battery to shut it down...nothing else worked. Then it started popping up an error saying:
GoogleUpdate.exe or ALUSchedulersvs.exe
The exception breakpoint.
A Breakpoint has been reached.
(0x80000003) occurred in the application
at location 0x00406eef

No matter what I clicked (debug, ok, close) it would freeze the computer.
So I deleted the temporary internet files and deleted some of the videos I had saved on my harddrive.

I pay for The Shield Delux as my computer protection but it does not seem to be working at all.
I downloaded a program called taskmanager 17 and ran it bit I really don't know what, if anything, it did.
I keep reading that some type of malware has infected my computer but I don't have any idea what to do.
Please help!
Thanks!!
A few other things I forgot...I cannot do a system restore or defrag. Google was redirecting me to weird websites when I tried to go to a specific website it would take me somewhere else, I think that is fixed now...don't ask me how!

The computer is running Windows XP, service pack 2. Over the last few weeks the computer has slowly been having issue upon issue. It started where the internet (IE) was not accessible, then various error messages showed up. Now when you start it it tells you there is an error loading the towozoha.dll file and the logomafe.dll file. It has also slowed down by quite a bit. The virus protection was run, but is not picking up any issues. With the downhill slide of this computer it just seems it might be a Virus. This is a computer that is attached to a server and all other computers attached to the server do not have the same issues. Please help!

P.S. The dll warnings only come up under a specific userID logged in to the server. The same userID works on other computers though...

I'm hoping that someone can help me. When we start our computer, it beeps repeatedly (I counted 113 beeps this last time) before it will finally start up. Once I try to open an icon on the desktop, it only open whatever is in the top left corner, regardless of the icon you click on. I have to manually open explorer from the start menu, and once it's open, I have to highlight the http address and delete it, then hit the refresh button, otherwise I can't scroll down the page- it keeps popping me back up to the top. Everything is fine after that, unless it won't go into standby, which has been happening lately, and then I have to do the whole highlight/delete thing again to "unfreeze" it. I am hoping there is something in my log that you guys can see which could be causing all of these problems. I followed all of your instructions to prepare before posting this. Thanks for your help. You can fix this entry:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

but other than that, which is not harmful, I do not see anything else. The beeping on bootup is usually caused by some sort of hardware error. Is this laptop still under warranty?

I tried to help my friend with his computer today. It is totally messed up. He is running windows xp home edition. He doesn't have any antivirus software on it and a ton of crap software his daughter downloaded (e.g. screensavers, pop up blockers, toolbars, and every p2p program you can imagine). I know it has to be loaded with tons of spyware. adware and probably some viruses. I tried to install an antivirus program, but every time I moved the mouse the computer would restart. I know he has to be using up all of his ram because all those crap programs must be starting with the startup. I don't know where to begin on the damn thing. I think it would just be easier to format it and start over, but he doesn't really want to do that. Is there any other way to fix it? If anyone has any advice, other than get new friends lol, I would greatly appreciate it.

I live in Toronto Canada, and I have some serious computer problems

First I will explain why I am angry .. then I will explain the problems I am having with my computer lol

I tried installing Macromedia Dreamweaver...Fireworks and Microsoft Office 2003. Each time I got an error saying that I require a newer version of windows. Windows 2000 or later!

So normally I would NEVER use WinME...but I have some serious problems with my computer. I've taken it in to the repair shop a few times...but to no avail..they say nothing is wrong with my board...chip...or memory. The problems have been active since the day I purchased my computer...and as stupid as I am, I did not send it back to them, and I lost out on warranty. I'll eat whatever I have to in order to get it working properly however,
since it was my fault for not returning it!

What happens is I constantly get page faults when browsing with Internet Explorer. Explorer will crash quite frequently, and I have to restart my browser all over again. A few times it was some sort of HTML.dll error....but not every time this error shows up. I get others as well!

This is VERY annoying...but something I learned to live with. I have tried installing WinXP on this computer...but for some reason after a month or two .. I will end up getting a blue code stop error (C00002x or whatever the number is) ...or the computer starts acting VERY wierd...like losing all icons on my desktop, and can't get them back no matter what I... I have had a problem with a trojan. I thought I had it cleared up but it has lead to other problems. I get several run dll errors when I log in. Also I downloaded HJT but it is in a zip file, which I read is NOT good. I don't know how to fix that either. I do have a HJT report I can post see below......

I started having problems with my computer when my daughter started looking for clip art for school and downloaded a picture. Now every time I try to click on a website, it redirects me at least 3 different times to different various websites.

Now just yesterday I started getting the message DCOM server Process Launcer Terminated and would shut down in a minute. My computer shut down 6 times yesterday. I did find out on how to stop it from shutting down but I know I must still have some sort of virus. I have run every kind of virus scanner I can think of; they always find things to delete but it never solves my problem. Here is my list from Hijackthis. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks so much.

Sounds to me like either CPU, harddrive or RAM hardware failure.

I don't know what to do *cries*.

I reformatted my computer about two or three weeks ago. I have a dell computer, P4 .. top of the line for its time. I got it about a year ago. I reformat my computer every so often to clear out all the 'junk' like spyware and stuff that really slows it down.

Everything was fine.. but last week I started having CHKDSK run every time I turned on the computer. When CHKDSK ran the computer would show a blue screen with a long warning message that I didn't have time to read and the computer reboots.

This wasn't a major problem (or so I thought) so I just started skipping CHKDSK.

Then I started having problems with downloading things from the 'net. I don't know if this is a related problem or something completely different. I posted this problem on another thread. Every time I would download something (.PDF, .MID, .EXE, .ZIP) with IE it would say it can't find it.

Again.. not a big deal 'cause I could just use my roomate's computer to download whatever.

But last night now my computer's completely fried =(=(.

It was working fine before I went to work at 5pm.. when I came back home at midnight I suppose I had left it on. There hundreds of open "Windows Help" boxes all over my screen and each one had a little error saying page not found. I sat there for about 10 minutes closing the dialogue boxes before I got fed up and hard-rebooted my computer.

Now I can't connect to the in... Read more

The MS KB Article Chkdsk Runs Each Time That You Start Your Computer says that it's either something to do with the installation of an HP Scanner 5100c without the updated XP driver or it's if the System registry hive or the Software registry hive is damaged.

Since it now won't boot, the link on that page goes to How to Recover from a Corrupted Registry that Prevents Windows XP from Starting. It looks like a long, involved process to get things back up and running but it may be the only way to preserve your data.

I don't know what is going on with our computer, but I'm hoping someone can help. We have a Dell laptop and have Windows XP. To begin with, whenever I shut down or restart, it begins beeping when rebooted. I try rebooting several times, with it beeping each time, and finally after the beeping ends it will start up. But then, whenever I try to open an application, no matter what icon I choose, it opens the icon that is at the top left of my desktop. I have to manually go to start menu, then choose explorer from there to open the internet. Once the page is open, it then won't let you scroll down the page-keeps bringing you back to the top. To fix this, I have to highlight the http address, and while keeping it highlighted, hit delete, then refresh the page and all is well. However, now it won't go into standby anymore, so after a certain amount of time, I have to go back and do the highlight, delete thing to "unfreeze" it. I can't even begin to imagine what is wrong, but it is really getting frustrating. If there is anyone that can help, I would appreciate it. I am a novice, so if you need me to do something, please be specific in how to do it. If you need me to print a hijack this log, let me know. Maybe that will give us some answers. Thanks!

Shannon

Over just the past week or so, my computer has had decreasing performance, more rapidly each day. I don't have a lot of money to fix it or buy a whole new computer. The problems encountered so far consist of: Increasingly Slow Processing, Video Card Malfunctions, and Decreasing LAN/Internet Speed (Incoming only... outgoing speed is normal). I know that I do not have any Viruses, Spyware, or any other Malware, all drivers are up to date, Windows is up to date, and my cooling is more than adequate. I am not willing to reformat because I have tried another hard drive, and the computer still performs as poorly.

Computer Specifications:
Pentium 4 630 (3.0GHz)
1024MB DDR2 SDRAM
ATi Radeon x700pro
160GB IDE HDD + 40GB SATA HDD = 200GB
Sony DVD+-RW
MS Windows XP SP2

I suspect that it is a motherboard problem, but I want to be sure before I buy something new.

Thanks for any help,
Adam

Hello and sorry for the delay.

Please do the following:

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

My current system has been a big problem. My computer seems to instantly fry my cpu everytime I turn it on. I've had to return my cpu numerous times and its making me mad. I have no idea why either. I've built many pcs before but never one with this problem. As soon as i boot it, it will act wierd but make it to bios, and the cpu temp will raise a degree celsius ever second. I turned off my pc seeing how it went all the way to 50c like nothing (with a volcano 7+ at high speed it shouldn't be). then it will freeze at post and then one more reboot it will just be a blackscreen and will smell like an electrical fire.

My gfx card and hd all work fine in my other crappy pc. Sometimes it'll just fry the cpu instantly. I did have this pc working back when I first bought the parts when i had my dragon orb 3+. but I had a psu go bad a while back so i bought a new enermax 431w psu. then I got this volcano 7+ and it a started there. Can it be because my v7+ puts too much pressure trought it's clip? or could I have disturbed something else. I've returned my cpu like 4 times, mobo, gfx card, bought another psu(after the enermax, thinking that was it) and it still does this. Please help me. I got all the parts and my unopened cpu sitting here but I don't want to fre it again. Has anyone heard this before or can give me help on this problem?
thanks (My system is in the sig)

No matter if it is playing out of Winamp,Windows Media Player, Fl studio, Pro Tools, or even something off of line or something
The audio sounds Horrible.
It pops and skips like its a scratched cd and it sound like ****.
So bad I am unable to produce music or listen to anything for that matter.
I have had this computer for over a year and have never encountered this problem or anything similar.

I have a M-Audio Fire Wire Solo sound card.
I have already reinstalled the updated drivers off of M-Audio.com
So I don't think that the soundcard is the problem,
I think the problem is more computer related
something about my buffers settings maby

A:Major problems with computer. Cant erase known problems

Hello amdamd and welcome to TSF,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. Again, you should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Before we begin, let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. When we're done 'cleaning' off your system, we're going to 'flush' the temporary folders which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the b... Read more

I've had nothing but constant problems with this computer. When it was initally put together, it was upgraded to SP3, and that caused a whole other world of problems. Long story short, I tested all components (all work fine-seemed to work well after I pulled out & reinstalled the RAM, so may not have been sitting right), tested all SATA ports (all work fine), I managed a fresh format, updated up to SP2, and did many of the key windows updates, as well as all driver updates.

It was working fine until recently. I don't know what happened. In SAFE MODE I ran a virus scan, and Ad-Aware; nothing was found. It's running at a good temp. And the power supply is brand new with lots of power.

Here is the list of problems I'm currently facing:

-BIOS (and windows) won't recognize my DVD drive most of the time, (sometimes it does for no reason)
>It will work if I unplug it, and plug it back in. This only lasts a little while. I have tested it in different SATA ports, all give the same result.
>I have swapped drives twice just in case.

-VERY slow to load windows.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Right click on this link http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/DelO15Domains.inf and choose Save As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards.

Hi TFF_Tiger,

You most certainly do have a problem. Not least of which is XP Antivirus. This is a fake program.

Quote:

What this programs does:

XP Antivirus 2008, XP Antivirus 2009, and XPAntiVirus are rogue antivirus programs that, when run, display false results as a tactic to scare you into purchasing the software. Older versions of XP Antivirus would create 9 entries in your Windows Registry that impersonate infections on your machine. In reality, though, these registry entries were harmless and had absolutely no effect on your computer. Instead, these entries were set so that XP AntiVirus can find them when scanning your computer and report them as infections. The newer of versions of the program , such as XP Antivirus 2008 and XP Antivirus 2009, instead just display false results when scanning your computer that state infections were found. In order to remove these fake infections, though, you would first need to purchase the software as the trial does not allow you to remove them.

While running, XP Antivirus will also display fake alerts stating that you are infected or under attack from some type of threat. These alerts are fake and can be ignored. If you do click on the alert, though, it will prompt you to purchase the software. Examples of text contained in these alerts can be found below.
