I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

first off, install the OS. Then see if you can change it in keyboard settings. Try setting the keyboard to a French layout, instead of the default USA.

Hi, I recently purchased a Pavilion 15-bc203nd. This notebook has a AZERTY keyboard. This keyboard however has a strange/wrong layout compared to a normal azerty key board: a right CTL key is missing, the < key is on the wrong place, my return key is too small etc. See this picture as comparison:   Is it possible to get a notebook with a correct AZERTY keyboard, or is this just the way it is with HP notebooks and should I return it? Kind regards.

Hi. . .

I would suggest that you go into Device Manager and un-install all of the drivers related to the keyboard. Vista will re-install them upon re-boot.

START | type dev into the start search box - select Device manager uptop.

Expand the keyboard tree and un-install the drivers 1-by-1 until they are gone. Then re-boot.

Good Luck to you. . .

Although there are two languages and several keyboard layouts in Belgium you would probably have a French Belgian keyboard.

Control panel > regional and language > keyboards and languages > general > installed services > add > and select either Belgian Comma or Belgium French as matches your keyboard.

Then remove the prior inappropriate entry(ies) and OK your way out.

I'm interested in learning Dvorak and I'm wondering if it's possible to be a fast typist at both Dvorak and qwerty. In other words, if I find myself constantly switching between the two will I be able to maintain a good typing speed on both layouts? Or is the human brain just not meant to know 2 keyboards at once?

A:Can one be good at qwerty AND dvorak at once?

Totally dependent on your own level of skill and adapability.

It will vary between individuals to such a large degree, there is no way we could make any reasonable attempt to assist you.

The only clue is, that you have to ask does suggest a lack of confidence and perhaps a lower chance of success, but thats an outside view.

I'm using Office 2008 on my MacBook, and I use the Dvorak keyboard layout.

A couple of days ago, Word decided that only the left half of my keyboard was Dvorak, at least for shortcuts. This means that if I want bold text (Cmd + B, which is Cmd + N on a QWERTY keyboard), it opens a new document.

It works fine if I switch to Dvorak + QWERTY commands, but this doesn't work in all applications, and is quite frustrating.

I've tried deleting Normal.dotm, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

Any ideas?

Today while typing in notepad, the keyboard suddenly switched from Dvorak keyboard layout to Qwerty. Yesterday Opera did it. Before Opera did it, Open Office did it. When I close the offending program Dvorak is restored.

I am NOT using the language bar and do not have qwerty set as a default layout, Only dvorak.

Is anybody else having this problem and/or know how to prevent it?

A:win 7 64bit RC randomly switches from Dvorak to Qwerty

Try using ctrl-shift. If that causes your keyboard to switch that might be your culprit, not capricious randomness.

I use Qwerty and Dvorak key layouts and this switches between them. Tried to configure with the Regionalization control panel and that doesn't seem to remap this keystroke. It's definitely inconvenient for spreadsheet users.

My husbands ASUS touch screen laptop-keyboards are not working. I know it has windows 8. Core i3 intel inside. Ex. i will type and the curser line will do nothing but suddenly go like an italicized line. The mouse works and the touch screen works but I cannot type anything. We are both not smart at this, and again it is not my computer, he has it for work, so who knows what he did to it. But yeah, after restore it still wouldn't work and now I am stuck at the registration "getting started" windows and I cannot bypass them....or don't know how to without being about to type. The last it worked he said he cleaned it with pressurized air, so I don't know if that was too much for the keys...if he actually blew dirt into it, or what strange thing could have happened...but the fact that both touch screen and actual keyboard aren't working I am left stumped. I hope I gave enough information on the computer. It has that surface windows...he normally just uses the desk top mode. Ok thank you for any advice.

Hi folks
I've had success on this forum before and I'm hoping someone with more knowledge of IT than me can suggest a workaround/solution to an issue I currently have with a Windows 7 (Home Premium) laptop:
This is an old laptop that I only use from time to time, but it still has a number of files and photos on it that I don't have saved elsewhere.  Last time I used the laptop, it was acting as if the Ctrl key was being pressed every 2-3 seconds which made the keyboard difficult to use (because it triggered shortcuts as I tried to type: Ctrl + O, Ctrl + S etc.).  Because I don't use the laptop as my main machine, I decided that I'd uninstall the keyboard driver from within the Control Panel and just use the on-screen keyboard going forward.
Following this, I powered the machine on a couple of days ago and panicked when I discovered that I couldn't get the Ease of Access dialog box to display on the login screen to allow me to enable the on-screen keyboard.  It doesn't produce any kind of error – it simply does nothing when the button, located in the left-hand corner, is clicked.
At this point I was still hopeful that I could get around the issue by connecting a standard USB keyboard, but this is also completely unresponsive (although it does appear to be getting power from the laptop because the Caps Lock indicator light is lit).  I've tried a few alternatives: connecting the keyboard before powering up, during the start u... I am currently running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on my PC (new computer). I have found that in the last couple of months my keyboard has ceased working properly. By this I mean, most of my special characters no longer work properly... Everything from quotes to question marks, exclamation marks etc. are no longer working or I get completely foreign characters. AFter considerable investigation I have determined what is actually happening is that the OS is not recognizing my actual keyboard and is defaulting to the On Screen Keyboard (OSK). When looking at my device manager, it shows an ... HID Keyboard device and an HID compliant Mouse (I am actually using a Dell KM714). My keyboard and mouse are wireless. I have tried uninstalling both, working thru safe mode and uninstalling, I have tried re-installing the correct drivers, on several occasions and in several different ways but all to no avail. The keyboard was even swapped out and tried on a 2nd computer...it works on the 2nd computer. I have also tried installing a completely different wired keyboard on the malfunctioning computer with the same negative results. Existing restore points have the same issue and consequently none work. I have tried searching for an updated driver but it tells me the best driver is already installed and I have searched the internet for other suggestions all to no avail. I was wondering if any of you had any idea what is going on with my computer. In bios it has a whole list of keyboard errors that happen all the time. When I am typing an "s" will type "sasasasasasasasasasa" forever, a "w" will be "wqwqwqwqwqwqwqwq" and an "x" will type "xzxzxzxzxzxzxzxz" infinitely. Even If i don't type anything it will repeat "sasasasasasasasasasasasa". I've tried 3 keyboards with the same problem happening, and my mouse randomly quits working and I have to unplug and replug it for it to work. I have formatted my computer twice and still get the same problem, so it's not a virus. It does it even in setup. Also, even more annoying is the windows On-Screen keyboard I have to use to type, as it has the SAME problem and even opens random windows and programs with certain letters. At first I thought it was my USB controller going out, but if it was, then how come the windows On-Screen Keyboard still does this?
