Internet Explorer and Firefox keep shutting down. Firefox redirects ads

Q: Internet Explorer and Firefox keep shutting down. Firefox redirects ads

Hi. Can you please help. My internet browsers, Internet Explorer and Firefox, keep on shutting down unexpectedly especially when I try to load a new page. In addition, when I use google in Firefox I am redirected to ad pages instead of the actual website. SInce I started having this problem, sometimes my computer freezez and the clock on my computer stops. I've run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware,Ad-Adware and even though they found some viruses it hasn't fixed the problem. Below is the hijackthis log:

Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer and Firefox keep shutting down. Firefox redirects ads

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hullo there! So my issue seems popular on this forum, but this redirecting bug isn't exclusive to google searches. With the exception of this website, any hyperlinks I click on almost always redirect to a completely unrelated page. http://www.alltheindustrials.com/search-re...corporate+event or hXXp://www.manufacturersdirectory.com/sear...tection+spyware are just a couple I'm rerouted to. This started occurring just a couple of hours ago, and I'm not surprised. I was trying to find a streaming video of a network TV show, and I went through so many sites riddled with popups/adware. Anyway, for some reason I can access this site just fine, but everything else redirects me.I've run Lavasoft Ad Aware 2007, but nothing else. I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack 2.Thanks, any help would be eternally appreciated!!

Hello,

I've noticed yesterday that links that I click from google searches take me to "get-answers-fast" and the IP address "63.209.69.107" on both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

I am running Windows 7 and Malwarebytes' scans picked up "Exploit.Drop.9" and "Trojan.Happili.XGen". I deleted those and re-ran Malwarebytes which came up clean. However, the problem still persists.

I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

Thank you!

I got a java script which installed Internet Security 2010. I quickly removed it with the sailor soft removal guide.http://www.softsailor.com/how-to/13827-how...oval-guide.htmlIt all seemed good. However, I've started getting redirects when I go from google bringing me to random ad search engines. In addition, if my browser is left for long enough it will just randomly ?search? for whatever is in the search bar. I'm on windows XP and I'm running Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729).I'm also running AVG it does absolutely nothing. In any case, let me know what I can do. I'm pretty receptive to anything at this point. It also changed my background, occasionally my internet is disrupted, and other times my profile won't load. However, these are other problems and I guess I'll deal with them later.

I searched through the forum and I find that my problem appears to be very unusual. My Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer browsers are not working properly and this issue has prevented my computer from shutting down or restarting properly. This
problem started when one day, I was unable to open up Google Chrome (which is a browser I commonly use) to go online. Google Chrome refused to launch open. When I finally got it to open, it was a blank screen that would not show my frequently visited websites
as it normally would but would only show my bookmarks bar. When I tried to enter a website, like google.com, it refused to load and responded like I had not entered any website at all.
In a panic, I tried internet explorer, which also refused to launch. Then, I decided to shut down my computer but it refused to shut down. The screen would say "Shutting Down" and would go black but, after waiting over 5 minutes, I decided to force
shut down the computer. (This is very similar to the scenario that would happen when I would restart my computer). Once I turn the computer back on, however, my browsers work normally.

After calling the manufacturer of my computer, they had to put my computer in safe mode and then they scanned it for viruses after deleting the temporary files on my desktop. Strangely enough, this fixed the problem and my browsers worked normally. However,
in less than a day, the problem would return. I know this is not a virus problem be... Read more

A few days ago we started hearing recorded voice advertisements coming from our computer speakers when there weren't any browsers open. Also, every time I try and click on a Google search results I'm redirected to a random page. This happens in IE and Firefox. I can make the redirects stop if "Javascript is disabled" but this is obviously a short term solution.

Internet searching reveals that many people are experiencing similar symptoms. However, I have yet to find a solution that works for my machine.

Hello,I have been lurking bleepingcomputer as a non-member for a while now. I typically am able to find the instructions to fix almost any problem a computer (be it mine or a friends) has from your forum. Now it seems I am unable to find the solution to my specific problem, so I finally signed up as a member! My problem is similar to all these redirect virus issues I have been reading, but slightly different and not quite the same. Here's the problem:Randomly when I am browsing the internet, every now and again a site that I come across (typically while using StumbleUpon [Firefox Add-On]) will redirect to some completely random site. It doesn't appear to follow any pattern, and has redirected to various different websites. The websites I am redirected to are rarely the same website I was redirected to before, the only exception being theclickcheck.com and yellowpages.com, both of these websites I have been redirected to more than once. Additionally, even if I don't have a browser open a pop-up will appear in a new window. If a browser is open, the pop-up window error will occur more frequently it seems(in a separate window, not a separate tab). Also, I noticed each redirect or pop-up goes through google-analytics.com, so this may still be the google redirect virus, but I am unsure.I have had this issue for about a week now, and I have been unable to get the time to really find the problem. I wish to do online banking, bill paying, and the what not but fear that... Read more

Update with extra information.

First, I am running Windows x64.

Second,,,  Upon reading a log file from Combofix, I noticed it found a trojan called  F_IN_BOX.  I didn't know until after the fact that it's not recommended to run Combofix without some guidance.  Hopefully I didn't screw things up too bad!  I'll hold off running anything until you guys tell me what to do.

Since then everything seems to have come back.  I've got tons of shortcuts I never made, lots of processes with similar sounding names to legit processes, tons of network traffic to all sorts of unknown addresses, and I've been locked out from changing things like firewall settings, disabling wifi adapters, updating windows, etc.etc.

Third, my firewall is wide open.  Lots of openings for software I never installed.  It seems someone is occasionally remote-admining above my admin account, changing changes I've made within minutes.  Both ethernetnet ports and both my wifi adapters were re-enabled shortly after I disabled them.

If anyone can help me know where to start I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks!

Internet Explorer VS. Firefox - Which is better?

A:Internet Explorer VS. Firefox

I think googling firefox vs. ie would be a start.

Personally I use firefox, I used to use ie.
Not everything works in firefox(most normal webpages do), for example sites that use active x don't work, like windows update, so you still need to keep ie around even if it isn't the main browser. I really can't stand using ie anymore after using firefox, mainly because of tab browsing, although you can achieve a similar effect by just opening ie several times, or installing a browser add on like maxthon.

But IMO, Firefox is way better, I love tabs, and the find as you type thing is nice too, plus there are extensions that let you add features that you like, and themes to change the look.

Hey everyone:

I'm running Windows XP and I'd like to update my browser to the easiest yet most secure application. I'm currently running Internet Explorer, so I'm leaning towards IE8. However, i've heard lots of rumors about IE...that it's not secure, that there are bugs with the new IE8. With firefox, friends have told me that it isn't as easy to navigate but is safer to use than IE.

If anyone out there can tell me the pros and cons with using IE vs. Firefox I'd truly appreciate it. Also, if there's anyone out there that's having serious problems with IE8 and wouldn't suggest, please let me know! I've seen the postings with being unable to access certain websites using IE8 like pogo.com (a site that I love to use!)

Thanks in advance guys

A:Internet Explorer 8 vs. Firefox

Which you prefer is really a matter of personal preference. In no particular order, here is a list of reasons to prefer Firefox.
1. It is not a MS product.
2. It is not a part of the Windows Operating System.
3. Security patches and system enhancements are frequent and timely.
4. With the use of add-ons, you can tailor your browser to meet very individual needs.
5. It is not a MS product.
6. It loads (at least for me) pages much faster than IE.
7. It includes a spell-check function for Internet entries ( I am an forum addict).
8. Bookmarks are easy to organise and are automatically backed up.
9. Personal preferences are kept in separate files, so you can reinstall Firefox without loosing them.
10. It is not a MS product.

John

Hello, I have a computer that has Firefox and Internet Explorer installed (latest updates) on Windows XP Pro and everytime I launch one of them my computer freezes. It does not display an error of any kind. I cannot do anything. Although I can move my mouse anywhere. I've ran programs Ashampoo, PC Checkup and a Register clean up program. I don't know if those are any good but apperantly they do not do anything to fix my issue. I know I have access to the internet because I can connect to my messenger.

Yesterday I re-installed Firefox (trying my last way of fixing this issue) and after I finished installing it, it launched to its default website. I then closed the browser, I launched it again to recheck and my computer froze up again.

Please help me

Just a dumb question from me, again to start the new year.
Should/would a site look exactly the same whether using FF or IE?
I am obviously asking as I have found a site which i have to log into,
where there is a difference between the Two?
Not life threating, but would appreciate any feedback.
Thank-you

A:Firefox and Internet Explorer

The site obviously looks the same on both FF & IE.
Difference being when i hit the settings tab, selecting
privacy, on IE, I get the option to change my password,
Whereas, that same page appears different on FF,
Could it be a setup/settings issue that i can adjust?

my OS: XP pro

I have been using Firefox as my internet browser, yet Internet Explorer still pops up with advertisements from several companies or AOL searches for products (such as: www.searchfeed.com, c5.zedo.com/jsc/c5/ff2.html?n=377;c=99;s=36;d=27;w=1024;h=768, www.pcsecurityshield.com/lp/shield-deluxe-5.aspx?trk=WTK&affid=541, url.adtrgt.com, and other companies). These seem to pop up every few minutes.

My computer's desktop image was changed to a blue screen with a yellow box that read "Virus detected, please download an adware remover" and as a computer administrator (on our multi-user computer) i had privileges such as removing programs and changing my desktop settings. About the same time as the pop ups started occurring, I lost my administrative privileges. *note, this problem has been solved, but i thought that it may be relevant*

I asked a friend of mine to help me, and he told me to run several programs: SpyBot S&D, Spy-Ad exterminator, and HijackThis. While these programs did detect many infected files and what not, my problem didn't go away (completely), so i did a system restore and the only things that remained were the pop ups that opened in Internet Explorer.

Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having issues downloading using both here are the details. So I was trying to free up some space on the computer and it was really slow I also had issues with my web browser I would go to a new webpage and it would briefly load then it would almost freeze and I would click again and it would say not responding I would wait for about 2 minutes or so and it would finally work I would click on another link and it would do the same so after trying to free up memory I just said screw it and did a factory reset, so after that I got online with internet explorer and typed in google and I am getting a message saying internet explorer cannot display webpage so I was able to use bing and I was going to download adobe flash and the webpage is very basic there is no background there are images but they wont show up they have an x in the top left corner also there was no install button so I went to firefox using bing and downloaded it. Everything on firefox is working great except I cant download anything I can save it and view it on my ongoing downloads but I cant open it to download it. Any ideas? Thank you

Does it hurt the computer to have internet explorer and Firefox together? should i remove the internet explorer?

A:internet explorer and mozilla firefox

It does no harm at all to have more than one browser. I've got Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome installed at the moment.

Each has their advantages and disadvantages. Firefox is good for personal customisation through addons. IE is good for some things (can't think of any off the top of my head though), and Chrome is very light and fast.

I would advise leaving Internet Explorer installed. It's not doing any harm or wasting system resources.

Hi Everyone,I'm running Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 and all updates installed and I'm not sure what my problem actually is but it started about two weeks ago when my system had crashed after four back to back power failures within less that one minute. I had to take my PC to the shop because it got stuck in some kind of endless loop where it just kept rebooting over and over and my so-called rescue disk didn't want to work for some reason. The counter tech that checked out my machine when I brought it in said that I was going to have to do a system restore to get it working again so I had them do a data recovery for me so that I wouldn't be losing a lot of stuff that I can't replace. That data recovery was supposed to have been done that day and my PC was supposed to have been ready for me to pick it up the following evening. Well I finally got my machine back five days later after having received several different excuses as to why the data recovery hadn't been completed during that period of time. When I got my machine home, hooked everything up, turned it on and was getting ready to do the much dreaded system restore... when Windows started up by its self. For some reason the Windows CHKDSK program [I think that is what it was called] had started to run. I let it run all the way through and Windows opened on its own once that program had finished running.Needless to say I was surprised by this happening but glad that I wasn't going to have to go ahead with the system re... Hello Wendy K. Walker and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. There are a few housekeeping items we can clean out so let's do that while you are here.First, we need to disable TeaTimer so it soes not interfere with the changes we are going to make.Start Spybot-S&D.Go to the Mode menu, and make sure Advanced Mode is selected. On the left hand side, choose Tools and then click on Resident.Uncheck Resident TeaTimer and choose OK for any further prompts.Restart your computer. Now start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4EFB-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5BAB4B5B-68BC-4B02-94D6-2FC0DE4A7897} - (no file)O2 - BHO: (no name) - {60D3AAEB-AA39-4AE0-B2F9-E4AF0613A2A3} - (no file)O2 - BHO: (no name) - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - (no file)O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0013-0001-0002-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair. After the fix, reboot the machine and then you can start TeaTimer again. As for the DMR, it's hard to say. Since DMR is changing security tokens it could be a rights issue, it could be a corrupted profile or possibly some securi... Read more
