Q: firefox autocomplete? (Moved from Windows 10)

I have a firefox autocomplete ? it can remember what you've entered in forms on web pages, also known as text fields. After you've entered something into a form on a web page (such as a search box), the next time you visit that page, your previous entry will be available to re-use

Where do I delete everything in forms on web pages, also known as text fields. dose this inclue save passwords will be deleted also ? get back to me please

Preferred Solution: firefox autocomplete? (Moved from Windows 10)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I’m having a problem with Firefox’s autocomplete function in Google.

For Google I use Google.com//webhp?complete=0&hl=en.
This turns off Google’s automatic query & fill function, and then lets me use the autocomplete of searches I've done before.

But it stopped working yesterday for no apparent reason. Maybe I accidentally hit a certain key, I don’t know. And it will not remember any new search words that I enter either.

But if I use Firefox’s Help > Firefox Help and start entering a word in it’s search box, my previous searches show up. And it will remember new search words that I enter. IOW my data is still on the PC, just not accessible via Google like it was.

When previously transferring programs & files to a new computer I found the autocomplete form data stored in a Firefox profile file named Formhistory.sqlite. And this file is still there.

All the settings in Firefox appear to be correct. Again, autocomplete still works in Firefox Help but stopped working in Google.

Any idea how to get it working again?

A:Firefox Autocomplete

I'm having the same problem on chrome. The only thing I can imagine is that Google changed something again. I hope there's a workaround again though as that's how I get to most of the sites I go to.

(Yes I know it'd probably be easier to bookmark everything or start typing the url, but I'm more comfortable with typing in the first few letters of my favorite sites, clicking the autocomplete and hitting "I'm feeling lucky")

That's obviously not what you are looking for. Instead, you can delete the suggestions by deleting your history. You can also configure by the option above to only use your history or your favourites.

3. Enter browser.urlbar.autoFill as the preference name (note, case-sensitive: 'F', not 'f')

Hi Dr Dave,

I used your advice of speeding up Firefox--it worked, as they say, like a charm. Thank you very much. Not long ago I discovered this browser and fell in love with it. You obviously also use Firefox. Thus you are the guy to ask about the following problem: I'm unable to download anything using this browser because it, in a grip of paranoia, blocks all downloads. So far I haven't found any way to fix the problem. I will appreciate your help.

A:Firefox Sync Bookmarks? (Moved from Windows 10 forum)

The purpose of the Firefox sync feature is to allow another device (PC - Phone - etc) that has Firefox installed the ability to sync the bookmarks, history etc to itself. For example. I have a Desktop PC, A laptop PC and a Android Smart Phone. Each of these devices have FireFox installed. Each of the devices are sync'd together. So if I save a bookmark on my PC, I can then use Firefox on my Smart phone and the bookmark will appear there and can be used by FireFox.

Its not really a backup. It just makes what ever your syncing available on all devices that use FireFox.

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

Dear BleepingComputer folk,
My laptop is running Firefox 40.0.3 under Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
The Problem
Two nights ago my browser (then Firefox 40.0.2) started opening some webpages extremely slowly, simply refusing to open others and producing a "This document has been moved here" message for others (see below screenshot - the link would appear to go to whatever I searched for, but I never clicked it).
These various problems were affecting familiar websites that I have bookmarked and regularly open, such as Facebook.  This seemed to be in some way related to the cache, as it was not affecting new URLs that I had not visited previously during that browsing session.

In addition, when using Google Toolbar (but not https://www.google.co.uk/ , which appeared fully functional) to search for anything I would receive the same: "This document has been moved here", but with an additional "302 Moved" message.
SCREENSHOT #2 - result of attempt to search for http://www.facebook.com/ via Google Toolbar:

Attempting to access attachments in gmail also produced a similar message (I don't have a screenshot of this, but I believe the message there again differed slightly, saying that the document was "temporarily" moved).  This is what I encoun... Read more

I am new to here and really hope someone is able to assist me .... and fast. I have struggled with this for a good part of a day.

Operating System is Windows 10.

My issue is with Firefox.

I have been trying for hours to reinstall Firefox. I uninstall it ... then reinstall it .... try and open it .... but then get a message telling me there is still a version open.

I have gone into Task Manager.... tried to close it but it won't shut down. I have tried more ways to force shut it down I am not sure if there are any other options left.

I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it a few times .... also restarted my computer several times.

To be honest .... it almost appears Chrome isn't completely shutting down also.

If anyone has any suggestions and solutions then I am anxious to hear them.

Thank you.

Hi everyone.

I have been trying to clear my address bar info as I browse using Firefox.

I have tried 'clear private data' but cannot clear the drop-down bar as I can using IE when I go to

Internet Options>Content>AutoComplete>Clear web addresses(etc).

Is there a similar function in FF that will clear my address bar?

Thanks in advance. lennon:

A:IE "AutoComplete" option for Firefox?

Your Address bar? as in your history?

- Go to the Clear private data section as you previously did
- Press "Settings"
- Ensure "Browsing History" is checked
- Clear your private data again

If you're running FF3 (Everyone should be now, it's amazing) then i think you may be referring to the dropdown box which displays your bookmarks. To clear this you would have to clear your bookmarks, You may also have a bookmark history or "recently bookmarked" section in your Bookmarks menu, to disable this i belive you can delete it.

Also you may have a "Smart bookmarks" folder on your bookmarks toolbar, it bookmarks recent pages... To stop that delete the folder...
(or the entire contents of the folder)...

If you want rid of the bar completely i've found something which will be of interest:

Go to about:config

Search: browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped

Set to true
Search: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults

Set to 0

When i create a new email, and start to type in the person or email address that it's going to, the autocomplete usually fills in the rest of the email address so you don't have to type it all in.

I have noticed with mine that if you do not send an email to a particular person for about a month or two, the autocomplete will not have that persons address in the group and will not fiull it in. It's like it forgets some of your friends email addresses if you don't send frequent emails to them.

Is there any way to change it so that it always remembers them?

A:Autocomplete in Windows mail

Windows Mail doesn't use the contacts list to auto complete addresses.

It uses a separate list of the last 30 addresses you sent messages to.

Without a registry tweak, you have what you are suppose to.

I suggest that you do not fool with registry for this type of problem. There is the possiblity of much bigger problems.

Don't know if anyone can help, but hope someone can offer suggestion.

I have a website and the index page has a 'drop-down' menu (for various pages on the site) where visitors can click and go to other pages on the site.

When I view the INDEX page in IE6, the 'drop-down' menu appears in the center of the page, where we want it to appear.

However, when we view the INDEX page in Firefox, the 'drop-down' menu appears on the left side of the page.

Would anyone know what we might have to do (correct) to make the 'drop-down' menu on the INDEX page appear in the center of page when viewed on Firefox?

Here is the beginning part of the HTML for the 'drop-down' menu:

We need to see the site to work out problems such as these.

At a glance of the snippet of code you have provided, I would guess its to do with firefox's defualt values compared to IE. Using <p> tags for a layout element such as a menu isn't a great idea.

If you show us the site I can do some tests and try to find the problem.

Hi there everyone...I'm having a problem with Windows XP and I'm wondering if anyone can help.A few weeks ago I was infected with a nasty trojan. Two great guys in the HiJackThis forum helped me remove it, but in the end I was left with a couple of side-effects.The one I'm most annoyed by is my loss of Autocomplete Dropdown boxes when trying to open and/or save files in any of my programs (Photoshop, AutoCad, Word, whatever...).I think you guys know what the dropdown boxes are, but I'll explain: first of all, I'm NOT talking about the autocomplete function in Internet Explorer. I've had that turned off for months, and having it turned off has never affected these other autocomplete functions. The dropdown boxes I'm talking about are the ones that appear when you try to open or save a file in a program you're running. So, for example, you try to save a file in a program that you're running, but you already have a number of similarly named files on your hard-drive. When I used to save my files (before the infection), if I started to type a name into the "save as" box, the program would produce a dropdown box of autocomplete suggestions for me -- so if I had three files "SAVE1", "SAVED2", "SAVING3"... and started to save a file by typing "SA" all three names would appear in the dropdown box... If I continued to type "SAVE", the third file would disappear from the drop down box, and... Read more

What programs do you want auto-complete to run in? Just MS word for example? I think the function that you are looking at in IE is kinda broad, it will complete everything including names and some passwords.
The function that deals with file saving and names is a bit different I think, but I am not sure as to the settings on that. I am sure after the holiday one of the experts here will come along and take a look at this

A:IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

Well I went into safe mode and loaded the site up just fine, then in IE7-it just finally loaded up.(that was a couple days ago).
But now sometimes I'll find a few random sites where it freezes up in IE7 and when I go into safe mode and load it up, it seems to fix it in Normal mode.

PC World.com, also gave me that. And a link inside PC world, did the same thing. Then I went into Safe mode again, then normal mode again and that loaded, from being froze too.

Thing is I keep finding sites where it will freeze on me, but I've been using my parents IE7 as well on those same site and their browser never froze once, and this computer has been infected before once (their computer), but my computer is CLEAN. I even have uniblue registry booster to scan my computer as well (note that I put this on after having these IE7 problems).

I have also reformatted my hard drive, just 12 hours after my first post, but this problem came back. I'm really clueless as to what's going on, or if I happen to have a very stealthy virus (have 2 anti-viruses, 1 anti-spyware program running on my computer all the time). Help Me!

I see this on my XP laptop from time to time. The scrollbars jiggle around and won't stay still, making it annoying to try to read a page that is going up and down. It eventually settles down after awhile.

Is this definitely a symptom of infection? I scan the hell out of this thing. I have McAfee anti-virus and anti-spyware on it fully updated and scanning 3 times a week, and also scan using BitDefender and TrendMicro online scans now and again (each once within past 2 wks). And further, I also scan from time to time using updated Ad-Aware, Spybot, SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareDoctor.

Is the occassional jigglyness normal? Does it happen on clean machines? If so, I won't worry. For the moment, I worry a bit.

Is it the scrollbars or is it your mouse? I'm not immediately aware of an infection that will cause those symptoms, but it's still a possibility. However, I would check things like your OS - is it patched up to date, are all your hardware drivers up to date, any errors showing up in Event Viewer, that kind of thing.

In response to Dan's (dtae) posting entitled "sponsored links" on left in Firefox" I too have just got this infuriating problem.
The sponsored links on the left are not solely Google related nor it would seem solely Firefox related!!!
In Firefox the left links are present in a Google or Yahoo search.
They are not present when using IE or Safari.
However, they are also NOT present in Firefox when using the Google related search 'Locate Me'.
I have also run 'CustomizeGoogle' in Firefox and this does not touch these particular links.
I have run various malware scans and nothing has been thrown up. Nor has my constantly running PCGuard found anything!
I will keep an eye on Dan's posting and hope the above info will help.

Last night a balloon popped up stating that the pc was infected (the balloon came from the security sheild in the quick lanch tray). I knew this was fake so I didn't click on. Still a bunch of problems occured. The desk top changed into a warning that I needed to get virus protection. That went away after restarting. However now I cannot get symantec to start. Firefox crashes as soon as I click on it. I am forced to use explorer. Google has been hijacked. The links redirect to nuisance sites. The only thing protecting the pc right now is spybot. I am running windows xp.

I am running Vista Ultimate with all the recent updates and IE7. I just downloaded and installed the newest Windows Live Suite. Now nothing is retained as far as logon's and passwords and the forms icon is no longer on the Windows Live Toolbar. I used to be able to see my address, credit card and other information that I would populate on various web pages.Anyone have any ideas?

A:Autocomplete and Windows Live Toolbar Forms Icon

Hi, DocB1973, and welcome to the forums.

Perchance, have you checked the settings of the toolbar? Perhaps it needs a reboot, or else it needs to simply be re-entered again?

I am hoping this is the right forum to post this because i don't know where else it would go.

Only IE works now, when i click on mozilla, it says, "This application has failed to start because plds4.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

And i have tried uninstalling, and downloading and installing again.. but the same exact thing is happening
