BSOD CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION on a Lenovo YOGA 12

Q: BSOD CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION on a Lenovo YOGA 12

Good day everyone,

I came to you and asking for help in order to fix what others tend to evade it as much as they can. To put it simple I work as an IT support and recently somebody reported that it cannot power on the machine. Apparently two laptops wouldn't turn on so a call has been raised to the Support company and short after a technician came and replaced the motherboards on the damaged laptops. All nice and shiny till one of them started crashing with BSOD errors (the ones in the topic title), it had been already upgraded to windows 10. To mention that both laptops are identical and also I notice that after the motherboard replacement the technician had some problems booting to a service stick in order to replace the SN and he made some changes to BIOS in order to complete his task. Later on in my attempt to search for a solution I came across a BIOS update on Lenovo website (V1.22 newest to which I update it successfully, board had V.1.18) which stated that it fixes an issue with the service USB stick not being recognized. Reverting the BIOS settings to default, resulted in being unable to boot into existing OS from the HDD, so I had to install windows one more time. To my surprise it did go well for few hours but short after it appeared again, making it unusable for work. Drivers are up to date and there aren't any other programs that my cause this issue. A second call has been raised but I still wait a reply from them. I attached the Zip files requested to this post.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

OK, first off - these errors are typically hardware errors.  But over the years we've found that they can also be due to compatibility issues or even low-level driver problems.Secondly, some of this may repeat work you've already done.  Please let us know if you've already done something that we suggested. Your UEFI/BIOS (version JEET73WW (1.22 )) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Only 54 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems have 180 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).Interestingly, there are 3 STOP 0x9C errors listed in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. These errors were replaced by the STOP 0x124 error starting with Windows Vista.I'm not sure of the impact of this, but it bears watching IMO. The installed programs don't seem typical for what I'd expect to see on a Lenovo system.I would suggest visiting the Lenovo support website for this model and getting ALL of the updates that are available from there.  Some of the Intel stuff (MEI, RST, DFTP, etc) is low-level enough to cause these errors - as is some of the Lenovo add on stuff. Just FYI - here's link(s) for the BSOD error(s):STOP 0x0000009C error.  More info on it here:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x0000009CSTOP 0x00000101 error.  More info on it here:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x00000101Both sets of errors are spitting out hal.dll in the stack, this is most often (IME) a symptom of either an incompatibility or a problem with a low-level driver (to include it being missing). Analysis:The following is for information purposes only. I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (Anniversary Update - Build 14393.693) clean installed on  a Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) BIOS 76CN43WW. The "Lenovo Yoga  Mode Control" version 2.0.0.9 (ymc.exe) has consistently crashed every day for the last few months. Crash reports are logged. Are there any plans to fix this issue any time soon? Best Regards,

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

For the past few days, playing Fallout 4 seems to invariably end in a BSOD usually with a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error, but a few times the screen has simply frozen during play, sound crashed loudly, and the machine has not responded to any keyboard or mouse input. Graphics card and sound card drivers are all up to date (according to their updater software packages). Today, I had to boot twice in order to pass a plain black screen (no error messages at all).

The crashing only seems to happen during game play of Fallout 4, but then, that's also about the only activity recently that pushes this machine at all.

Thanks in advance for any time spent and help offered with this.

A:Machine_Check_Exception BSOD

Your system specs says:

Code:
Memory 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 1066MHz
On the contrary, your data says: (each of the two)

Code:
Size 8192MB
Device Locator ChannelA-DIMM1
Bank Locator BANK 1
Speed 2133MHz
Part Number CM3X8GA2133C11Y4
2133MHz is OC, as your motherboard manufacturer says:

Support for DDR3 3200(O.C.) / 3100(O.C.) / 3000(O.C.) / 2933(O.C.) / 2800(O.C.) / 2666(O.C.) / 2600(O.C.) / 2500(O.C.) / 2400(O.C.) / 2200(O.C.) / 2133(O.C.) / 2000(O.C.) / 1866(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 MHz memory modules

MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION is a hardware issue, and OCing is one of the most frequent reason behind it.

Set all the hardware components like RAM, CPU and graphics card free from OC. See how it goes. Let us know.

I need help... I just assembled a new system and I've been getting the "BLUE SCREEN ERROR OF DEATH" with the message MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. I've look around the net about this error and I've realized that it has something to do with hardware failure.

In my case, I can't really identify which of my hardware is failing since they're all brand new, though of course, that doesn't really matter as well. I only get this error once I run Red Alert 3. It would only run for about 1-2 minutes and then I'll be getting that blue screen error. I have yet to see this error when I'm just doing simple task (like internet browsing, etc.). My theory for now is that my PSU is not powerful enough to supply what my system needs.

PLEASE HELP MET OUT.

SPECIFCATIONS:
Asrock P45XE - Motherboard
Intel E8400 - CPU
EVGA Nvidia GTX 260 Core 216 896MB Superclocked Edition - GPU
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600 Watt - PSU
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 - Memory
Swiftech H20-220 Compact - Cooling Kit
Western Digital 500 GB Blue - HD

A:Bsod: Machine_check_exception

The two main causes of a machine check exception are low power and overheating. Evga's website lists the minimum power as 500W. 600W is close, so it's possible that it's not powerful enough. A cheap way to check this is using SpeedFan and just monitor the temperatures. If they aren't high enough to cause problems, try a larger power supply.

Ive been able to play all my games with no troubles for a long time and i just started geting the blue screen two days ago. I havent made any new changes in hardware and no new drivers and havent downloaded or installed anything new. The blue screen says MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. Which i have come to find out means that im having a hardware error and it is most likely my RAM, mobo, power supply, or processor that needs to be replaced. Hello. My computer was suddenly rebooting so I?ve turned off the automatic restart and now it?s giving me a BSOD - Machine_Check_Exception.

Any advices ? I don?t know if the CPU is overclocked, since I?m not the first owner.

Intermittent BS)D. This morning MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION and STOP: 0x0...0, 0xFFFFF880061EEC70, )x0...0, 0x0....0). There have been different codes before but I don't have them available.

Typicak behavior is that the mouse freezes and then after 15 to 20 seconds it comes back. Sometimes it freezes and then BSOD. This morning I had finished with my updates to Quicken and was backing it up and I went back to an open session of Firefox and was checking some mail when the cursor froze and then BSOD.

Suspecting the mouse, I changed from a standard wired USB mouse to a wireless one last week. Seemed a bit better but obviously not the answer. Also yesterday I went thru the USB uninstall and delete the INFCACHE.1. When I plugged a USB device back in the new file was created as describes, but when I went to look for it now, it isn't there unless there is some sort of hidden thing going on. When I look at the previous version of the folder using the folder's (DriverStore) properties.

Is the thread solved? I see it is marked as solved?

If not, the zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump. Check in C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. Is there any? If so, zip them and upload them.

If not, Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

And, check the version of display driver in the device manager ... let us know.

Hello,My ProblemI am start getting BSOD since last week. It happen randomly, where ever may be, in Safe Mode, Bootup screen, dekstop idle, playing games. The STOP message I get is MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION - BugCheck 9C, {4, 805461f0, b2000000, 70f0f}.What I have triedI have 2 * 512MB RAM. I had try to take out 1 of them and test, but BSOD still happen no matter which RAM i plug in, no matter which slot i used.I plug out my DVD drive. So now it left CPU, PSU, mobo, Graphic card, RAM and HDD running. At beginning I thought is driver / s/w problem. So I uninstall nvidia IDE driver, run chkdsk, scan C drive with kapersky anti virus.Lastly, I narrow down my problem and I confident that the problem is on h/w. I open my side panel and blow with Fan and play game. While it is blow with Fan, no BSOD happen. Then I switch off my fan for awhile, BSOD happen again.I monitor the temperature using Everest Free Edition and the temperature for HDD, CPU and graphic card are at normal temperature, did not show that overheat. My QuestionI need to narrow down which part of my h/w is overheating or fault. May anyone help me or guide me? Thanks in advanced.ps:I have attach my miniDump result that debug using WInDbg. Sorry for poor grammar. If need any details that I miss out please tell me.Rick

Hi,

My Computer:
HP Pavillion Elite (work computer, no server, connect to an external HD via a linksys router)
Intel Core i7 CPU / 920 @ 2.67GHz 2.67GHz
Installed RAM 9GB
Computer is "as is / out of the box" with the exception of software installs.
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 64 bit
- the original installed OS on the system? orig was Vista HP 64 bit, a month or two ago upgraded to 7 HP 64 bit (SP1 installed a couple weeks ago)
- an OEM or full retail version? Full Retail from microsoft
- What is the age of system (hardware)? About a year
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) a few months

Ok, here goes....

Almost everyday when I start up my computer, I get either a hard freeze, a hard freeze that goes to a blue screen, or an immediate blue screen. After it freezes/BSOD's on me, I restart and it runs fine for the rest of the day. This happened even when we had the Vista OS.

Now, the BSOD errors were not all the same. Most times its (paraphrasing) "clock interrupt interval invalid" but i think the info i have attached will give you the codes. I ran a memory test and it gave no errors.

Im somewhat computer savvy but im not sure what other info you need. Let me know if you need anything else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I just signed up and added my system specs but i just remembered that i left out a lil info for the CPU- its o/c stable at 4.2 and has been absolutely stable for nearly 2 years now.

with that out of the way... I hope you guys can help and that my registration time spent will be worth it and that I can help out in other areas... as BSOD troubleshooting is not a skill of mine.

I had a Gigabyte r9 280x vid card that would constantly crash my computer... could not get through a round of bf4. I took it back and got an ASUS version of the same chipset and it seemed to solve most of the crashes. I can play for a couple hours but it will still crash eventually. and its not the same type of crash i used to get either... this type eventually goes to a blue screen instead of indefinitely frozen and forced to hard reset. Im uploading the system dump... i hope i did it right. if not... just let me know so i can re upload it. thanks a million if you can help me out.

Hi I bought two months ago a Yoga X1, came with Windows 7 (preinstalled) and 16 GB of RAM. Every 10 days or so, I get BSOD. It is very hard for me to tell what is causing it, since sometimes it happens overnight when no program is running (except those in the background). I am attaching the zipped dmp files, renamed with a txt extension. I have installed all the windows updates possible with no success. For reference, I had a Carbon X1 for three years before, never installed a single windows update, and never had any bsod problems. I wonder if the problem could be related to having put too much RAM in the computer (somewhere I read the computer could be overclocking, whatever that means). If so, why would Lenovo ever let me configure a machine this way?

You have a Realtek RTL8723AU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Lot's of Windows Updates failures in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. If the problems continue, please post over in the http://www.eightforums.com/windows-updates-activation/ for further expert assistance with this issue.

Both of the memory dumps point to networking issues, one to the wireless and one to a USB device - so it's most likely an issue with the wireless USB adapter. Please remove the adapter and it's software -then test the system to see if that stops the BSOD's. (connect to the internet with a wire, or with a wireless PCI/PCIe card that plugs into a slot on the motherboard).

Please uninstall the Magic Control program as it's driver dates from 2011 and it may not be compatible w/Win8.1

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT... Read more

Hello,

my notebook OS freezes when running the photo software RawTherapee 4.2.880. No actions like noise reduction are required. Only mouse movements are enough, sometimes after 1 minute, sometimes after 10 minutes.
The problem occurs when running RawTherapee directly or even in a Windows 10 pro VM under VirtualBox. That meens, using a VM is no protection against the MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

I tried moving the complete VM to another PC (Dell T20 with XEON E3-1225v3 CPU and VirtualBox on OpenSUSE). No problem to run RawTherapee here.

I've gotten BSOD/reboots regularly on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro running Windows 8.1 since I got it around Thanksgiving. It's basically the vanilla machine with the removal of the Superfish crapware, the addition of iTunes, Office, and some tools to help triage this and general wifi strength. The BSOD always puts a similar error message in the event log, but it's also often preceded by a series of errors from the Bonjour service (like "Task Scheduling Error: m->NextScheduledSPRetry 79609").
Here's the error:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000009f (0x0000000000000003, 0xffffe00084335e20, 0xffffd0013f836960, 0xffffe00083481010). A dump was saved in: C:\windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 022415-4250-01.

I've downloaded all the most recent drivers and updates I can find from Lenovo's site, and it seemed to help for a day or so, but it's still happening.

The BSOD seems to happen almost every time I close the lid of the laptop or if the screensaver kicks in for more than 10 minutes or so.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hello, I'm experiencing issues with my Lenovo Yoga 2 13. It started at the time of the anniversary update of Windows 10 Home although I can't be sure it really started there. Before that everything was running smoothly. Symtoms:- In some applications the sound gets noisy, like an old scratched vinyl disk.- When running my old Warcraft III (normally in Win XP compatibility mode), the computer freezes in a loud buzzing sound after a random time, from 2 minutes to 1 hour. Forced shut-down pressing the power knob is the only way to unfreeze it. What I tried and didn't improve the situation:- Reinstalling the applications.- Changing the audio drivers to a generic version.- Updating Windows and all possible drivers.- Reliability monitor -While trying to update the BIOS using Insyde H20FFT from the Lenovo Support I get an error:"Get platform ROM map error in SMI!"SMI Return Code: 0xEF I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware issue before reinstalling everything. I'd be happy to try your suggestions.

Hello,

Recently I keep getting BSOD's related to a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. I've had BSODs before (not with this computer) and have been able to fix them, but this one is unknown to me and I am out of ideas.

This BSOD occurs at random times. It's not happening when a specific program is running (as far as I am concerned).
I hope someone is able to help me with this BSOD as I keep losing my school work

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

A:BSOD - MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION at random times

Hello XriZler and welcome to 10forums!

I looked at the dump files and this is a hardware issue, 9C the parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have. Most commonly it results from overheating, from failed hardware - CPU, RAM, power supply, etc. Pushing hardware beyond its capabilities such as overclocking can cause that error too.

I would recommend that you visit your laptops support download page, you can follow the link you provided
- when the page has loaded click the Service tab
- after that you are presented with an option between two choices
- choose Broadwell
- click the Driver button on the next page
- Download the Chipset and Intel Management Engine Drivers!

PS just ask if something feels hard to understand!

Cheers, Boris

UPDATE to thread

I tried a few things:

1) I thought it might be heat related, so I blew out the dust, removed the cpu hs/fan, wiped off the old paste, applied new paste, and put the hs/fan back on.
2) I installed the mb heat/voltage/fan-speed monitoring software and everything seemed better.

I was then able to do things that had in the past caused a bsod. However, this morning, it gave me a different bsod

I then stewed about it all day at work and had an idea. The problems I was having seemed to happen *mostly* when I was doing something graphic intensive. I had installed a new driver a few weeks ago, and that didn't solve the problem. However, I remembered that my video card has a hs/fan on it. I opened up the case and took a look at the hs/fan. The fan was completely ceased up. It took a lot of force to get the fan to spin, so I knew it was obviously not working. I didn't have a replacement fan that size, but I rigged a slightly larger one from a pentium hs/fan. I also installed a slot fan right next to the video card fan.

So far, no problems...

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster. :-)

Basically; I'm getting a Blue Screen Of Death everytime I burn an audio CD.

I'm using Nero to burn the CDs, and the progress bar will always get almost to the end, and then I'll get the blue screen, the exact error message being;

0X0000009c (0x00000004, 0x80545FF0, 0xB2000000, 0X00070F0F)

After restarting, I'll put the CD in and it'll say it's blank. [Although if I try to re-burn using the same CD, Nero will tell me I can't because there is data on it.]

Everything was fine about 8 weeks ago, but for the last month or so I haven't been able to burn a single audio CD without getting a blue screen. [I've got about 50 coasters to prove it!] During that time, there haven't been any major software changes that I can think of, and definitely not any hardware changes. [I'm still using the same blank Memorex CD-R's and Philips DVDR1640 [16x dual layer] burner.]

[For the record; Data CDs & data DVD / DVDvideo DVDs work fine, it's only audio CDs.] [Nero's definition of Audio CD: "A standard audio CD that will play on all audio CD players."]

If it makes any difference; when I try to make the CDs, I'm using .mp3 files which Nero then "automatically converts to the audio CD format during the burn process". From what I've read, MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTIONS are primarily hardware related problems, however, could the BSOD in this cas... Read more

I have been troubleshooting all weekend while I await the arrival of the recovery CD that Lenovo support is sending per the latest support call. The BSODs only started after I received my Yoga back from Lenovo repair depot. I then requested in-home repair at which time a technician replaced the system mother board, after which we quickly saw that it did not resolve the issue.
I downloaded the DM Log collector Tool from this site however after watching it seemingly collect a bunch of information the resulting zip file that appears on my desktop is empty. Thus I have used the SF Diagnostics Tool. OS is Windows 8.1 Pro. I appreciate any assistance since I have lost confidence with Lenovo support!

I recently built a new computer with the following specs:

Intel core i7-930
ATI Radeon HD 5870
Asus Rampage III Gene mATX motherboard
Kingston HyperX 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 memory
Corsair 650W power supply
Intel X25-M 80 GB solid state drive
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I've been having issues with it during (and ONLY during) playing computer games. It will often randomly initiate a soft Windows shutdown in the middle of any game, or blue screen with a "Machine_Check_Exception" error message. These will always be preceded by a 'droning' sound from the speakers that lasts for a split second, which will occur sporadically for a minute or two until either the computer shuts down, or freezes and blue screens. When I am not playing a game, the computer has zero issues. However, when streaming video from Netflix or Youtube, I will very occasionally hear that same 'droning' noise, but no error will occur.

This problem has occurred with multiple video cards, and still happened after I got a replacement processor from Newegg, so I've ruled out the issue being my video card or CPU. I also think it is unlikely that it is a temperature problem, because I've been running a temperature monitor and the issue will occur regardless of what the temperature is, and the temperatures themselves are not high enough to be of concern. I've been dealing with this problem for over a month now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,
I just built a new PC:

MSI X99A Sli Plus
PSU Cooler Master V550
5820K
Cooler Corsair H110i GT
DDR4 32GB
Nvidia Quadro K2200
Samsung SM951 256 GB M.2 boot drive

I installed Windows 10 Enterprise x64, and played with it for some hours with no problems.
I also run Intel XTU to stress the PC and all is good.

Now I want to connect the hard drives from my old PC but I have this problem: after a few minutes into windows or even at boot, the PC freezes with machine_check_exception blue screen - no numeric code at all.
I tried to connect a WD 1TB disk, a Maxtor 1TB disk and also a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, these drives connected to different SATA ports each time and with different new SATA cables.
When I detach all the drives apart of course the boot drive, the PC will start normally.

Later I tried to connect only the new SSD (one SSD is M.2 boot disk, the other is SATA data disk) and I got into Windows, had the time to format the SSD data disk but then on the next boot I got the same problem.

I also tried setting SATA HOT PLUG in UEFI and attaching a hard drive after Windows boot and the disk was recognized.
I turned off the PC and restarted (leaving the hard disk attached and SATA HOT PLUG on) and the same problem happened again.

Windows 10 and all the drivers are up to date (I also checked with Driver Booster).

The PERFMON diagnostic shows some driver problems but related to mouse and keyboard. It also shows CPU and GPU weakness b... Read more

I am very unsatisfied by my Yoga 2 13 running Windows 8.1 which has become unusable. It is less then 2 years old, and now, I get a Windows Blue Screen of Death almost every 5 minutes.I even need to use another PC to enter this post, I did not have enough time on my Yoga 2.So, almost every 5 minutes, the computer crashes with a BSOD.I completely reinitialized the PC few days ago, nothing changed. Moreover, when I reboot the PC, quite frequently, it cannot reboot the first time because it does not see the SSD (see attached picture).I thought it was the SSD. I found the Crystal Disk Info utility, and when I run it against my SSD, everything is fine, no problem. So, if someone can help me troubleshoot this, I really don't know where to start.

Hi, I have been having an issue with my PC for many months (years actually) now and I'm finally going to ask for help here. I have tried to look at the dump files myself, but have been unable to figure out what is wrong. Here are the answers to the answers in the posting instructions:

Code:
? OS - Windows 7 64-bit
? x64
? What was original installed OS on system? None
? Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Retail
? Age of system (hardware): 3 Years
? Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? October 2009

? CPU: Intel i7-920
? Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 275
? MotherBoard: Asus Rampage II Gene
? Power Supply - brand & wattage : PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W

? System Manufacturer: Home build
? Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom)
Just in case its of importance, the RAM details are: Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Low Latency Triple Channel (PVT36G1600LLK)

This BSOD is often preceded by a slowdown in the PC and corruption of any audio being played through the speakers. Another thing to note is that I don't recall this ever happening twice. Eg I don't think I have ever had a second BSOD after rebooting after the 1st BSOD. It does happen again if the PC is completely shut down.

Many thanks,

Oliver

I have run memtest overnight and it completed 7 full passes. No errors found. Screenshot attached.

One strange thing I noticed is that Memtest was testing the following ranges of memory:

184K - 2048M
2048M - 3064M
4096M - 6144M
6144M - 7168M

Not sure why it did 6144M -7168M instead of 3064M - 4096M...

Another thing I noticed is that the memory is running at DDR3-1068 but the modules are rated for 1600. Does that matter?

Hello fellas,

Barely new windows 8 user on my 3.5 years old Dell Studio 1557 (not the least problematic series, for sure).

So, I like Windows 8 so far, but I have been having BSOD lately with the Clock_Watchdog_Timeout error.

Even though I have no clue, I suspect it could be something with the graphics card since it usually happens when I watch a video or movie.

Anyway, I don't want to make you biased towards that, so let's keep an open mind!

I have also attached a latest copy of the Minidump folder contents.

Thanks!

The error appears to be in the networking sub-system, other than that we'll need the rest of the reports. Update your wired and wireless network drivers for starters.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

About half a year ago i bought some pieces for my PC. One of them was an A10-5800K processor (with graphic card integrated). The first months it worked perfectly, but later on, from time to time, my PC shut down suddenly. Nowadays, when i do something with my computer that "stresses" my GPU (basicly playing videogames, even though they are not very "graphicly demanding") my PC shuts down. I decided to check out the temperature of my CPU and it was a little high, but generally it was acceptable. But in the case of my GPU, with my PC doing nothing (for example, in the desktop), my GPU is around 60?C, and while playing it can go beyond 70 or 80?C easily.

This evening, while playing Age of Empires 2 (), my pc shut down and appear a BSOD with the error "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT". This BSOD hardly ever appears, though. only twice in half a year or so

What do you guys think about my problem? How could i solve it?

If your system has ever been shutting down spontaneously and not restarting, it almost always is one of the following:
Overheating of either the GPU or CPU
Short circuiting
Power supply failure

GPUs can usually handle higher temps than CPUs, and having 80C on high load isn't unusual. It's not exactly healthy though, so if you can do something to trim it down a little that should help.

What parts did you actually add in to this system? Your original PSU may not actually be able to handle the new components. Well, it might have been able too in the past, but understand that total PSU wattage output degrades with age. While it may have before, it might be hitting a threshold that's causing it to go unstable. PSUs typically take a couple years to start showing such effects, but if the new components have actually been straining your PSU beyond 80% load for extended periods of time (like gaming), then that would rapidly degrade the integrity of it, which would result in a much shorter lifespan.

Now, if your system has just been rebooting spontaneously and not actually shutting down, then that's a different story and it most likely means your suffering a BSOD and automatic restart kicks in without the system ever making a crashdump. Of course that makes are job more difficult since it could mean just about anything.

Sometimes I've found that there's issues conflicting between the integrated GPU on an APU like what you got now and graphics cards. Some of the problems... Read more

I randomly started getting this error around a week ago. I took it into a repair shop, which removed some malware which AVG hadn't picked up and cleaned out the insides of my PC, and reattached the CPU which had apparently become 'unpasted', or something of the sort. I've updated most drivers that I'm aware of, and yet the problem still persists.

I'm running Windows 10 64-bit. I tried to attach the minidump from the most recent crash but it says I'm not permitted to upload the file. I wasn't doing anything labour intensive on the PC at the time; CPU was at around 50% as I recall...

Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help.

The crashdump looks to be incomplete. The bugcheck itself is reporting that one of your processor cores got stuck doing something for too long and wouldn't respond at all. This can most likely be caused by a driver problem.

Unfortunately, because the crashdump is incomplete (and because it's a minidump), I can't go further on this with the current information provided. However, for future crashes, Driver Verifier can help, which you can activate by following the instructions here. Any future crashes while it's active will give us some more info, unless they end up incomplete like this one.
