I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It is working for Antergos 4.18.* Kernel. Did you turn it on with FN+F10?

Hi, It seems that this latest BIOS version (1.02) is causing a few different performance issues for the ThinkPad A485. Once obtaining my A485 I ran some synthetic benchmarks to judge CPU performance. After updating to the latest BIOS, I have noticed a decrease in performance on the order of about 10%. It seems that this BIOS update has allowed the CPU to exhibit more stable performance and CPU throttling behavior under constant load, e.g. as seen in the updates to this article: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-A485-Ryzen-5-Pro-Laptop-Review.334528.0.html but at the cost of some overall performance. Adding to this, after having owned a ThinkPad A485 with a Ryzen 5 2500u and one with a Ryzen 7 2700u, it seems as though Lenovo's power management is aggressively holding back the Vega 10 GPU in the Ryzen 7 2700u, as opposed to the Vega 8 GPU in the Ryzen 5 2500u. Previously, in CineBench R15 (https://www.maxon.net/en/products/cinebench/) benchmarks, my A485 with the 2500u would achieve ~37fps during testing, while hardware monitoring software would show that the GPU was achieving a clock speed of about 800mhz. With my new A485 that has the Vega 10 GPU, it is impossible to achieve more than ~25fps under the same test and testing conditions and the hardware monitoring software shows that the GPU can not reach a clock speed higher than what I believe to be the near-base clock of 400mhz. With both laptops, this testing was performed with the Windows po... Read more

Can we please have confirmation that the A485 will be supported for BIOS updates via Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS)?According to the website https://fwupd.org/lvfs/devicelist I can see that fairly new Thinkpads like the P52/P72 are already supported. I do not mind waiting (within reasonable time frame) for Lenovo to fix the BIOS issues but at least I would like to be able to update my system without relying on Windows. Can we please have an update on anything revolving this machine? Is LVFS support coming or not? Is a BIOS update planned fairly soon so that I can stick with Windows for a bit longer? Please shed some light on the situation. A simple yes is coming or no is not will suffice so that we can all move on... Thank you.

A:Lenovo, please add LVFS compatibility for Thinkpad A485

Hi,

I can't answer your immediate question, but I'm posting to make sure you know there's a way to get there. Perhaps you're already aware but others may not be...

It still requires Windows, but that could be in a VM if you don't have a Win box handy.  The Windows update exe includes a tool to make a bootable flash drive.  Instructions in the readme.

I realize it's not ideal but at least it's possible.

I noticed and issue with the ThinkPad A485 (AMD Ryzen) and DisplayPort audio. If using either the Lenovo Pro dock or the Lenovo USB-C dock, I'm unable to get sound to come through my Acer B247Y 24" monitors using a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. The monitors have built-in speakers. It seems Windows 10 thinks it's sending the audio through to the monitors, but nothing comes out. Connecting the HDMI port on the side of the A485 to HDMI on the monitor will produce sound. Using a DisplayPort to female HDMI adapter from the back of either docking station and then connecting an HDMI cable to the adapter and then to HDMI on the monitor will also produce sound. There are no settings on the monitor that seem to do anything for it. I can select the Acer AMD High Definition Audio source in Sound Properties and the little equalizer meter moves when you right-click "Test sound", just no audio comes out using DisplayPort to DisplayPort. I'm not sure if this is an issue with USB-C and DP Alt-Mode which the A485 uses for either the Pro dock or USB-C dock. This does not seem to be an issue with an Intel-based machines using USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 or just Intel and DisplayPort audio. Other testing I've done.1. DisplayPort to DisplayPort does produce sound through the Acer monitor with the Pro dock and the Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 dock using a ThinkPad T480. DisplayPort to HDMI will also produce sound.2. DisplayPort to DisplayPort does produce sound through the Acer mo... Hi, The ThinkPad A485 currently suffers from the same issue as the E485, where if typing on the keyboard quickly, jumbles up the letters. This appears to be a firmware bug as I have tested in in Windows and Linux, and yet it persists. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-13-E-and/E485-strangely-unresponsive-keyboard/td-p... Could I please also have confirmation that the A485 will be supported for BIOS updates via LVFS (fwupd.org)? If you need any more information please ping me. Cheers

After w long wait, the A485's bios has been updated to 1.22. My laptop can't install it though. I tried the bios update utility from preinstalled Win 10 as well as creating bootable USB. Both seem to be working fine until a message says "now it will restart and actually update the bios " and then just reboots without doing anything at all. No error message, just reboots to OS. The bios I have installed is 1.16 and it was updated by me when it came out. I tried multiple bios options, disabled secure boot, downgrade prevention (tried downgrading to 1.14 and 1.11 with same results) but nothing seems to work. Did anyone experience this? I suspect it is nothing wrong with the latest bios but rather an issue with the currently installed one.

A:Thinkpad A485 BIOS update fails

You can try the Lenovo Vantage app on the Microsoft Store. Then try to update the BIOS through there. A BIOS update when you reboot your PC will display simple white text like you are in a command prompt and tell you that the bios is being updated. But updating the BIOS is risky since many people on here complained that the BIOS update has bricked their laptops and desktops. I updated my BIOS on my ideapad 100S back in 2018 and there were no problems.

I just updated the Bios on my machine hoping for the performance to start going further to becoming at least on par with the E485/E585, but to my horror, it now throttles even worse! What used to be a stable 2.5Ghz on the CPU during a Cinebench run on high performance mode, resulting in an underwhelming but acceptable 530-560cb is now 2.0Ghz! This barely puts it in the 450-480cb range, which is almost as bad as quiet mode on the previous bios. This is completely unacceptable. If the E485/E585 can get 600cb consistently, so can the A485. The cooling isn't the problem, just stop limitting the laptop and let it get a little louder/hotter so we can get the performance we have been advertised! 70 degrees is _not_ a suitable temp limit in high performance mode. Please try and fix this. This could be the best Ryzen laptop around, but right now, you're just a fool for buying this over the E485. Here's a look at my findings https://imgur.com/a/qXJS2Bs

I'm loving my new A485 but I have 2 issues that I'm unanble to solve. First:Silent/Perfomance toggle is only showing up sometimes? There is this little speedometer in the taskbar that is either bleu or orange depending on your silent or performance setting. But often this toggle is missing from my taskbar after a sleep / hibernation or full restart. I tried almost everything to figure out what could trigger this issue but I haven't really figured out what it could be... All software is up to date and I'm running Win 10 1809   Second:Installing a second SSD in the wwan port (m.2 2242)Is this even possible? I inserted a new M.2 2242 SATA SSD with 512GB but it does not show up anywhere in the Disk manager or in MS dos (diskpart).  A little help would be welcome for this new Thinkpad user

Hi, I am pretty new to this forum so I'm not sure whether I'm correct here, I just hope it is.My device is a Thinkpad A485 with the Ryzen Pro 2500U.I am using Linux (Debian to be precise) on this machine btw, to defuse some confusion that could come up, using the mainline kernel 5.1.0-rc2+ (master from torvalds master branch), but these issues are also occuring on the kernel supplied by Debian which is 4.19.0-4-amd64. The issue in detail I am experiencing is:When I cold boot the laptop without a USB device attached, the USB ports won't give any power until the power supply is plugged into one of the USB-C Ports. When I connect a USB device to one of the USB ports, it doesn't do anything, until I plug in the power supply, but when removing the power supply again, the device remains powered. This is not happening, when the USB device is plugged in while the device is turned off or while it is in the bootup process. Also ethernet seems to be affected by this as the same issue is occuring with the ethernet port on the right side.Is this a know issue? I did not test this on Windows 10 though.I doubt that this is a hardware issue as the devices keep getting powered when the power supply is removed until I plug them out.I wonder whether other people also have this problem.

I am testing the new models of Thinkpad A485 units Model Type 20MV S00U00.OS installs just fine.I have the drivers for enterprise that were downloaded from the lenovo site, they installed just fine.I have a script that as part of the setup it installs around 38 wireless profiles and its the same script that we use in all our models. On this model is causing a BSOD pointing to the "rtwlane.sys" file.  after some research I have downloaded the latest driver from Realtek.  This did not help.I added a pause command on the script so that the script pauses after each individual profile is installed to see if its one particular profile causing the issue. Each time that I run the script, the BSOD happens at a different profile.

A blue screen error (also called a stop error) can occur if a problem causes your PC to shut down or restart unexpectedly. When you experience this type of error, you won?t be able to see things like the Start menu or the taskbar on the screen when your PC is turned on. Instead you might see a blue screen with a message that your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.

Hello,I'm having trouble since I recieved my LENOVO ThinkPad Yoga 14 two months ago.It is on guarantee.I've noticed that the master fan keeps starting even if the computer is not working at full capacity. Sometimes, it starts right after windows as finished booting! And it's a brand new computer, Intel i7 CPU and 8GO of RAM!The fan keeps working then even if I'm only surfing on the internet or working on word. It's REALLY annoying. I feel like this is already an old computer by it's blowing. My old computer, a 5 years old Toshiba Satellite, doesn't blow so much.I've searched over the web and found that LENOVO had released a new UEFI Bios that was suposed to fix this problem. I've installed it and nothing changed! The fan kept on turning on for nothing else than a gmail home page.I've already asked about another problem on the ThinkPad Yoga 14. It's about a background noise on the built in speakers. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Background-noise-on-ThinkPad-Yoga-14-bu...I'm not having a good experience with this Yoga 14. I was looking for professional quality and it is not.Can someone tell me if they have the same problems? What LENOVO is going to do about it?Thanks.Ludovic.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

Hello and welcome to the CommunityRegarding LAN port:most likely Wake-on-LAN feature is enabled in the BIOS Setup. Disable it (Config->Network menu)USB:do you mean the only port on the left side of the laptop, the nearest to the AC power connector? If "yes", it's a port with "Always on USB" capabilities, enables to charge some mobile digital devices and smartphones even if the laptop is powered off. Disable this feature in Lenovo Settings app.

Hi everyone! I have had my ThinkPad W530 for a couple of years now and have been experiencing this problem basically from when I first got this laptop. When I try to power up the laptop, it does not turn on - sometimes it reaches the ThinkPad boot screen and I am able to enter the BIOS, but when I try to diagnose hardware issues, the computer turns back off. Sometimes I am able to boot into Windows or Ubuntu, but the computer turns off immediately after the boot (without bluescreening), or if i just let the computer sit for a couple of seconds. There are also other times where when I press the power button, the power button LED turns on for a second and you can hear the hard drive start spinning and then it just stops almost immediately and the power button turns back off, with nothing being displayed on the screen. I am pretty sure this is not a harddrive problem because I have tried replacing the original harddrive with a harddrive that works. When I did this, at first, I was able to boot into Ubuntu (as I have that OS on the other hard drive), but after a couple of minutes, the computer turned back off. In addition to this, I have tried booting into an external bootable USB, but just as I was trying to boot into the device, the computer would turn back off. I have tried doing these with the battery in and without the battery. I have also tried doing the "hard reset" by disconnecting the battery and AC adapter from the computer, holding the power button for ~... Read more

A:ThinkPad W530 not turning on at all

Since you mentioned that you had the motherboard replaced, I am not sure whether my solution can be applied to your problem, but the things you described appear to be similar to what I experienced with my w530 (2436CTO, i73840QM): the power goes out irregularly and sometimes it doesn't turn on at all. I had the issue for about a week. The machine was running great till the nightmare. At first, I thought it was dead. When I pressed the pwr button, the button light was on for a second. I also noticed the think light flashed. After hours of trying the tricks that you also discribed in your post, I was able to get it up and running by luck. I thouht the problem was solved until it suddenly shut down. And more unexpected poweroffs. I was blaming battery first, then RAMs, then power jack, finally I was able to narrow it down to the motherboard. Here is a quick way to diagnose whether your problem has the same cause: firmly press the power slot ( left highlight in the illustration of the maintenance manual  page 100 ) and push the power button, if you can boot it up without issues, then it might be the same problem, which is likely that some connection in the motherboard near the power slot is wearing out. Simple solution: fold a piece of paper into a short thick stick, slide in the gap between the magnesium structure frame and the right brass arm of the thermo fan (at where they cross), so that the board is effectively pushed down to enforce the power connection... I have bluetooth headphones and each time I want to use them with my desktop I literally have to spend 5-15 minutes turning them on and then back off and then after 15 tries or more it might end up working.

What's weird is that when I turn them on and they don't work, if I point my sound icon in the systray it does say bluetooth audio instead of SPDIF, but there's still no sound in the headphones. The headphones also don't indicate they are connected with the status LEDs even though the computer says bluetooth audio.

What would be causing this? As you can imagine it's extremely aggravating and I'm about to get rid of these if it continues.

BTW, it's now been close to 30 minutes I've been trying to get them to work this time with no luck so far, this is insane.

If this helps I have another pair that works first time every time but they aren't as comfortable.

Update: My other pair is doing the same now, this is ridiculous, I don't think I've ever had problems connecting them to my Windows Phone or Pocket PC.

Thanks
