Technical Error with Graphics Card

Q: Technical Error with Graphics Card

Hi, I'm wondering what is wrong with my computer.

When I play a game ( World of Warcraft ) or few others, I get a message or something thats on my monitor that says
"Out of Range" Set monitor resolution lower or read the manual guide.

When I'm in the game it works fine, but then it all freezes and I got that message and it kept happening a few other times
maybe after 30 mins of playing or so.

I'm wondering why I get this message and the specs are below if needed.

Computer - Compaq Presario 5108 US or 5000 series

Motherboard - Via

Processor - AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz

Memory - 384 RAM

Graphics Card - Radeon X1300/X1550 series
If you need anything else listed please tell me.

Preferred Solution: Technical Error with Graphics Card

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ASUS GT240 graphics card "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" Can anyone help me with this error message? I can hear the windows startup sound but it shows no display so i plugged the cable into the motherboad and an error box opend wich stated "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" with no additional information. I searched online and found that asus smart doctor can cause this and they recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers to fix this problem but the pc is not picking up the graphics card to reinstall all the needed drivers. I also found people with the same problem and after they did a clean install of windows7/vista and all the drivers the error box still appeared. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the PCIe set as first to initialize in the BIOS? Also, have you tried the card in another slot on the MoBo? Have you tried cleaning out the slot with canned air? Have you tried using a pencil eraser to gently clean the contacts in the GPU where it plugs into the PCIe?

And please, thoroughly fill out your System Specs by clicking on the tab under your post.

I'm looking at 2-Gig SD cards. The most taxing use for this card will be to store and play back videos in 320x resolution on a Palm TX. My concern is that these videos be played back with no hesitations so the performance speed-wise is important.

Of course, I am concerned about price, too; the prices I've found range from as low as about $50 to as high as $250--quite a range.

Here are the cards I'm looking at. Does anyone have advice for me and does anyone have any first-hand experience they can relay to me that might help:

PNY at $50

Corsair at $68

Patriot at $78

Edge Tech at $81

Transcend at $85

Usually, I buy only name-brand stuff. I like the compatibility and reliability Crucial has give me over the last five years; but, the prices of these SD cards from NewEgg are very tempting. Crucial wants about double the above prices for the same size card.

A:Need Technical Advice on SD Card

Look here too.

Your see there are many types of CompactFlash cards.
Professional Cards
Platinum Cards
CompactFlash Cards

The Professional Cards only work for some camers. So check to make sure a higher speed card will work for you.

I know I got me a faster SD card last year for my nikon coolpix and the speed is I think 3 times faster then what was out a year or so before that went I got my camera. Really helps in taking pictures to have a faster card.

I like the lexar or you can get the Ritz carmera cards too but they are still made by lexar.

But as you can see there is more then brand and size but also speed and if your going to do video i would think getting the faster speed card you can get that works on your camera would be best.

Hi all,

I've tried adding a PCI Graphics card into my mom's computer. Before that she only had 1 card - a linksys wireless G adapter that was working fine.

After slotting in the graphics pci card, the message "Resource Conflict - PCI Display Controller in Slot 02. Bus: 01, Device: 09, Function: 00" appeared.

I looked high and low in the BIOS settings page to set IRQ values but there was no such area tat I could do that.

The BIOS is a Phoenix 4.0 Release 6.0.A

Any idea how I can resolve this problem?

I have recently built a machine using the Winfast 760gxk8mc motherboard.

My problem is that now i have built the machine with Windows XP the machine crashes in windows and upon the reboot a message appears telling me that the graphics card caused the error.

The graphics card is obviously onboard and it an SIS Mirage. I installed the drivers that came with the motherboard and have since tried to download some othe drivers but i fear these are the same drivers that i already have.

Does anybody have any ideas for me as the last resort is to take the board back stating the onboard card is faulty.

I have a Nvidia geforce FX 5600 graphics card... It has been working fine with my computer up until a month ago and it keeps getting worse. At first in games the graphics would completely mess up and now I can't even start my computer with the card pluged in.
If I have the card pluged in my mouse, keyboard and screen aren't read... and nothing starts up. If i pop out the card then everything starts up fine. Sometime it still works with the graphics card, but it takes up to 10 restarts for the computer to read the screen.
What could be the problem?
Is the card just fried?
Time for a new card?

Using a range of cards. Nvidia 8400gs, nvidia 210,nvidia 640

The problem:
The card works using the standard vga adapter driver that windows uses, but as soon as the official nvidia driver is installed the card gets a error 43 in device manager. I have tried using several cards and they all do the same thing. I have also tried a removing all drivers and reinstalling an older official driver which gave the same result.

Also tried multiple fresh installs of windows

Also the cards work in other machines, the issue seems to be either the motherboard or a driver issue, its just odd that the card displays no errors using windows standard vga adapter driver.

Got any suggestions on what could be wrong with my memory card when it won't read the data when it's plugged in?
It says "No Data"
The card is official. I've tried other slots. Other mem cards work, tried turning it off and on, etc. We have a hunch that the problem could be that the contacts on the memory card have been misalligned, however there is no damage we can see without taking it apart.
Is it possible to take it apart or are there rivets or anything in the back end of the memory card that would hold it together?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Salutations. I recently purchased a Graphics Card to get my gaming into gear a little better, and have found that I might have purchased a Graphics card that some element of my system cannot handle.

I have an Hp Compaq DC5800 MT. I purchased an Nvidia GeForce GT650. I took out my old Graphics card (Did not uninstall old drivers) and I got a beeping Error Code of 6 Beeps (Graphics/Video Error). The computer refused to boot up at all.

I reinstalled my old card, and it started up normally. I shut down again after doing some research (I found only a small amount of info) and I reinstalled the GT 650. I connected the monitor to the Mobo Graphics. Still got the same Error message. (perhaps Onboard graphics are disabled in the BIOS?)

I'm not super good with computers, so I am at best guessing/going off things I've read on various forums.

I guess my questions start with: Should this Graphics card work with my Mobo/Power supply given that I run a DC5800 MT?

If so...what am I doing wrong with the Installation?

Thanks in advance for any info anyone is able to provide!

Whenever I try to play certain games, I get a message saying:

"display driver stopped responding but has successfully recovered".

I have an HP Pavillion dvd 6 notebook with i5 CPU, AMD ATI HD 6770M GPU, and 6 GB ram,

I've considered updating the graphics card driver, trying that from device manager (searching for a newer driver), but it claims that there is no better driver than that. Same story on HP's website. That's the best driver, v 8.882.2.3000, by the look of it.

I'm not sure about installing drivers directly from AMD, because that might cause other issues.

I have adequate cooling as far as I can tell -- I use an active chill pad with two big fans on it.

It's funny how it happens with some games or just browsing the internet. Other games it doesn't ever happen.

A:Keep getting the same error message with AMD graphics card

F34R whatever you do DO NOT install driver other than the one found at the manufacturer's site (HP).

Do you have the latest BIOS?
Try uninstalling the device, reboot and then re-installing with the driver from HP.
Have you check for memory errors? Give MemTest a go:

Download the Auto installer for USB.
Boot your system from it, and when MemTest start press c (configuration) and select Full Memory Range, then let it run.

The past two days now I've been constantly getting distorted horizontal lines across my screen that frequently lead to BSOD, as well as an error message about my video card:

Display driver ATI Radeon Family stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

It's only when I run in safe mode or with no graphics driver installed that there's no problem (except for the screen being huge and no areo).

Hello everyone,

I just want to know if a graphics card is not working, would it prevent me logging into vista? like there isn't enough graphics to boot vista? is this possible?
Also would a malfunctioning graphics card cause weird symbols in the BIOS, like weird vertical lines, dollar signs replacing spaces, E's replacing F's, A's replacing N's etc.?
Also could a power surge possibly damage the graphics card? in terms of hardware?
I am not asking for a fix here; i just want to know if this can happen

Thank you for your time

A:Does this sound like a graphics card error?

Yes a powersurge can mess with a card, hopefully you have a surge protector.

NO, the BIOS is booted from the mobo, so the card should not mess with it, not in that manner.

It also should not prevent you logging in....

I am having a code 10 nightmare with my geforce 6200 graphics card.

About a week ago - i kept on getting the BSOD IRQ value not less than or equal to message and found out this to be the result of faulty RAM.

Once I had taken this out - I started getting this code 10 message. It seems to relate to not giving the video card an IRQ address or any other resources and I have no access to display properties. However, when in safe mode - it does assign resources and I can access display properties.

I have tried removing/reinstalling drivers in safe mode, normal mode umpteem times using latest driver versions and also letting windows try it through the found new hardware device.

I have seen suggestions saying to 'assign vga to irq' in bios - but i have no such option (mb = ga-k8nsnxp).

I am going to remove every piece of hardware and try older nvidia driver - will post back soon with results

any help appreciated - this is a nightmare.

Hey everyone,

And im using an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 Graphics driver.

For a while now (about 1.5-2 months) there's been a problem with my display - its not a huge issue but I'm worried about what it might turn into and to be honest it's a bit irritating. For one thing, the taskbar is semi-opaque when it should be fully black, and additionally, the google desktop button(embedded in the taskbar) has bold, almost doubled over looking letters. Also, I'm not quite sure why, but often application windows such as firefox, if not in full screen, can appear behind the taskbar, aligning with the bottom of the computer screen(this often happens after i take my computer out of sleep or hybernate mode if i had a window open beforehand), though if i maximize that window, the bottom of the application window will align with the top of the taskbar and the taskbar itself will return to full opacity, as if nothings wrong (see pictures). I at first did a system restore soon after the problem started, which did in fact fix the problem, but as soon as windows would update, the issue would return, so i figured it was a compatibility issue that windows would address in a future update, and has yet to do. The final straw was when i tried to connect a projector to the pc and it didnt register it, when the last time i tried this, before i started having problems, it worked fine. So far, nothing dras... that's windows aero working as it should. when you have no apps open or if you have apps open that are not maximized, the taskbar will be transparent. however, whenever you fully maximize a window the taskbar will change from transparent to full opaque.

as far as the google gadgets button, i'm assuming that it changes automatically depending upon what state the taskbar is in--transparent or fully opaque--so that when the taskbar is transparent, you can still make out what the button label reads without difficulty. again, my assumption.

Hey there,

So recently I've been debating whether to purchase a Mac desktop or laptop. I was told that if I plan on editing in HD that I should get the macbook pro because of its Intel processor. I was told however, that if I did so, I would have to pay $200 to get a software upgrade for my Final Cut Pro HD to this universal binary version.

So, I made the decision to get an iMac G5 instead. Imagine my surprise when after installing the Final Cut, I was given an error saying that it wouldn't run due to my lack of an "AGP Graphics Card."

I called Apple support and was told that if I did Software Update, it would be fine.

So I ran Software Update and after installing the update for the program, it still didn't work.

So I re-called Apple Support and was told that despite buying a brand new computer, that I would not be able to use Final Cut Pro until I purchased the $200 upgrade which won't even be available til next month.

I have a project due for a client in the next week. Does anyone have any idea where I could get some sort of unofficial patch that would allow me to run my Final Cut Pro HD without the graphics card?

Please let me know.

Hello all,

I'm not sure if this question has been asked and answered quite yet, but I could not find it anywhere on the forums, and since each case is slightly different due to different system set ups, I figured I'd go ahead and throw this out there.

Every time I try and run The Sims 3, I repeatedly get the same error message over and over again:
"Unable to start game

Device 0 cannot run this title.
No supported video graphics card detected. Please check your system hardware."

I don't know why I am getting this message since when I built this computer I put an Nvidia 9800GTX in it, and that card is most definitely supported by the game. I have tried all sorts of solutions such as updating my video drivers (which I have done twice now since Nvidia released another new driver on the 18th), updating DirectX, changing my monitor's screen resolution, going in to the task manager and ending all non-essential tasks to see if there was a process interfering with the game, etc... I even emailed EA customer support to ask them if there was a solution, and they gave me what seemed like a copy-and-paste response email with a bunch of solutions that I had already tried or ones that didn't work, which indicated to me they never actually read what I wrote to them. It makes me wonder why they even asked for a DxDiag file from me. Anyway, I'm including a DxDiag printout along with my post here, so if anyone out there reads this and has some sort of... Read more

I have a ATI/AMD Graphics Card on my Dell Studio 1558, and the chip has become faulty (design fault from manufacturer). Now the screen display is black and does not come on.

Temporary workaround I am using
I plugged in my separate VGA monitor to the laptop and using it, I switched on my laptop, and after the Windows startup logo, the computer would crash and restart (and repeat).

So I managed to get into Safe Mode, and from there, under Device Manager, I roll-backed my ATI/AMD driver to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Then I restarted the Laptop normally (not Safe Mode), and the laptop DID NOT crash, it made it to the logon screen and I got in.

So now, I have my VGA Monitor plugged in to the laptop and using it, I am able to boot up windows normally.

While the laptop is on, if I unplug the monitor, the Laptop Screen stays black, nothing happens. When I plug it back in, I get this error that says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is not compatible with your display (I'm assuming it means my laptop screen since it's a Full HD resolution, whereas my VGA monitor is half that resolution.

What I need help with

Is there any other driver I can install apart from ATI/AMD which will allow my Laptop Screen to work? I want to bypass the ATI/AMD Graphics card completely as it's faulty and maybe somehow use Windows one just like the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is currently doing?

UPDATE: I do not mind using a smaller resolution on my Laptop Screen. I can learn to live... Read more

A:ATI/AMD Graphics Card error, black screen

I don't think a different driver would help with the laptop's screen. It sounds like a hardware problem, especially if, as you say, the chip has gone bad. It looks like the problem exists somewhere between the video card and the laptop screen, but it still allows you to use an external monitor.

You could boot without the external monitor and shine a light on the laptop's screen to see if there is anything there. If there is, that rules out the graphics card. It would be the actual screen backlight that is at fault.

Is there any chance that this laptop is still under warranty?

So what i did is completely removed my AMD drivers and it went back to the original resolution (1920x1080) but now i don't have any AMD drivers installed, what should i do? if i reinstall the driver again it will go back and show the error again. Thanks in advance

i only get this BSOD with my R9 290 i just bought i had it replaced with a brand new one and it continues to do the same thing my mobo is up to date i re installed the drivers on it and fresh install on windows 7. its not heat related temps are 65 degrees when gaming. i really just need verification on what exactly is wrong with my card through BSOD readings of the code or maybe someone can clarify its a defective card which i would be shocked because i just got it replaced like i said for the same issue. also its not a power issue or CPU issue.

As i posted not long ago about my RAMs needing to be replaced because of them causing BSOD's on cold boot, well, after about 1 year i never got round to it, so this is what happened.
I booted my pc as always waiting for the BSOD to pop so i can work on it normally, and as it reached the password screen the resolution was probably 600x400! i normally don't bother typing in my password because if i wait a minute or so on the password screen it pops the BSOD and were laughing, but this time the resolution was low.
I'ts done this a couple of times and all i did was use System Restore to go back a day or so and it was fine, but this time there were no system restore points.
I changed the resolution to its highest (1600x1200) and went to Manage Hardware to see that my Graphics card (GeForce 460 GTX) had a yellow triangle next to it and the error code was code:43.
I tried updating its driver, reinstalling its driver, removing and replacing my graphics card but nothing.
I don't think it is a hardware problem because the screen looks fine and works fine at 1600x1200 but the Windows 7 Theme isn't how it used to be(No transparent toolbar etc).
Thanks in advance

P.S If you do manage to help me i promise i will send my RAMs for replacement next week.

A:BSOD and then Graphics card error code:43

Your card is dying. 2D display ie. Windows w/o Aero doesn't mean the card is perfectly fine. My 8800GTS started going crazy like how you have described yet showed the BIOS and windows w/o Aero ok (for a week atleast). I suggest a RMA or atleast trying it on a different PC. Do you have adequate ventilation in your case?

I don't exactly remember what happened but i was promoted via Steam to update my drivers for my AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series, and after restarting the computer No games would start. I have tried all and nothing loads. One in particular does load but only random letters and code are replaced where the graphics and textures should be. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers multiple times and out of few for going to an incorrect sight may have deleted something of importance. Now when I check what graphics card i'm running by going to Advanced settings in screen resolution all it says is Vgasave. I'm not very tech savvy and would appreciate any help on this matter greatly

I have a DELL OPTIPLEX GX620 with a 500GIG blank graphics card and Radeon graphics card.

After booting the PC, it shows this message on the screen: 113-B27602-112 RV610 GDDR2_32Mx16 64bi

After taking some research my first clue is that something is wrong with the graphics card.

I don't know what is going on but I want to be able to install XP but before that I want to know what is going on and how to solve it.

I recently got a HP Pavillion zd8000 which had Windows XP installed on it.

I installed windows 7 on it and had the graphics card problems where the screen wouldnt display anything.

I followed the directions for MObility Modder and the laptop worked fine.

Then a couple days ago, it would start up, show the login screen for about 5 seconds, then black out. i would hear the windows login noise but nothing would happen.

i experimented with it and found if i disconnected all power from the computer for about 10 seconds, then recconected it and started it up it would work

this is very annoying because i cant put the computer in sleep and would like to have it fixed

Whenever I get any unexplained problems I normally try a power shutdown then go to the AMD site (for mine) and download the chipset drivers.

Don't know if a similar procedure would work for you (?)

I posted about my problem earlier in the Vista forum, because I thought that it was a problem with Vista or my Graphics card and not a malware issue. The person who responded to me first suggested that I check my computer for malware and something popped up. So I thought it could perhaps better be addressed in this forum. Below is a summary of my problem, my HijackThis log and my MalwareBytes log. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron E1505 (laptop) with 2 Gigs of RAM
My video card is an ATI Mobility Raedon X1400.

I had not restarted my computer in a while, so yesterday I decided to restart it. I think I may have left my USB webcam plugged in while restarting, but that's never been a problem before. When my computer restarted, I received this error message:

PCMService.exe entry point not found
The procedure entry point OsThunkD3dContextDestroyAll could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d8thk.dll

I noticed that aero was no longer working and I was back to windows basic. I also noticed that I hadn't done a windows update in a while, so I figured that might be the problem. I did a windows update and still no go. At this point I thought the problem was just with aero.

After searching around on the internet for a little while, I tried some things to get aero to work, like fiddling with the settings, uninstalling my java update and reinstalling it, and running the microsoft tool fo... Read more

Hey, I've recently tried to install a new graphics card into a Dell Dimension 9200 pc. However, after booting up it went straight to the bios saying that there was an error with the raid drive. I have no idea how this has happened and what to do. The error isn't being given, it just says error occured.

I tried putting the old card back in but the same thing has happened. Before i installed i didnt shutdown the pc properly and was wondering if that could have caused the problem?

The harddrive in question is a samsung sp2504c

Yes, it is never a good idea to do that.
Check to see if you have the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software installed, it should be in the Start> All Programs group, if so launch it, the specific error should be in there, you may have to poke around in the software to find it.

If it is not installed, get it here and install it.

Most likely the error has corrected itself.

First of all I guess I should list my system...

2.7Ghz Dual Core AMD
ASUS EAH4350 1GB - PCI-E Graphics
4GB DDR2 - 1066
500w PSU
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit OS

I think that's everything that is relevent, if anything else will help please don't hesitate to ask and I will add information as needed

I can't remember exactly when it all went wrong and as I hadn't been gaming for months it was a kind of irrelevent problem when I did a format (PC Just got clogged and so this was the easy option) and my graphics card didn't display a picture on my monitor, I just took it out and used the Onboard crappy graphics.

I am now faced with a dilemma, SOMETHING isn't right, my PC (without Graphics card installed) just would not progress past the BIOS screen, failing to load drive information etc. Even when I took off everything and tried to boot the board with no other devices present.

First I naturally changed the PSU (Luckily I had another exactly the same model etc) and the same problem existed.

So annoyed, I rifled through my older PC bits n bobs and built up an old 1.8Ghz system with AGP grapics but after realising that with only 1GB of DDR1 it was as useless as band aid for a severed limb, I tried again with my current system. This time it booted!

While I had it running I made sure to download the latest BIOS version, and upgraded.

Now I have the issue of the PCI-E Graphics... Read more
