Q: Thinkpad X380 Yoga touchscreen not working

The touchscreen on my laptop stopped working a couple weeks ago. The screen does show the water drop and swipe feedback on the screen; however, it does not actually allow me to click or perform the actions. Interestingly, the touch screen does work in google chrome and no place else. I found a few forum posts where people had similar problem, but the solution was to remove "Lenovo Pen Settings Service" from the device manager. Unfortunately, I cannot find this driver in my device manager and have been unable to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi.Today my thinkpad (X380 Yoga) automatically updated some intel drivers (couldn't figure out which ones) with the Intel driver and support assistand. Afterwards the touchscreen somehow stopped working properly. I can still visually hover over buttons, text fields or program borders, but if I try to click it doesn't work. I can touch, but not click or scroll inside the programs, neither with my finger nor the pen.It's very strange that this only happens on Windows stuff like the taskbar, file explorers and some programs like OneNote or VirtualBox. In Chrome for example clicking and scrolling seems to work perfectly fine. Another strange thing i saw: Under tablet PC settings if I try to calibrate or configure my pen and touch display, it says that there is no pen or touch input available for my display. My display name is: 1. Wide viewing angle & High density FlexView Display 1920x1080 What i already tried:- Checked for hardware problems via Lenovo Solution Center- Checked for driver updates via Intel driver and support assistant and Lenovo Service Bridge- Searched for driver updates manually in the device manager (HID-Confiant Touchscreen, HID-Confiant Pen, Lenovo Pen Device, a lot of Intel Drivers, USB drivers)- Deactivating and activating those device drivers via the device manager- Deleting the device drivers and rebooting to reload them- Load from an older restore point- Reset my PC (Which removed all programs... Hallo!Nachdem ich heute über die Lenovo Vantage-App mehrere Updates getätigt habe, funktioniert mein Touchscreen nicht mehr.Zu den Updates: Da ich selbst verucht habe das Problem durch Zurücksetzten des Systems zu lösen, was allerdings keinen Erfolg brachte, kann ich nicht genau sagen, was für Updates installiert wurden, jedoch kann ich mich entsinnen, dass unter anderem BIOS,SSD und Intel HD Grafiktreiber aktualisiert wirden sind.Zu dem Problem: Zu aller erst wird zwar der typische "Touch", also der Schatten bei drücken oder wischen über dem Bildschirm angezeigt, auch scrollen in bestimmtem Programmen wie z.B. auf Websites ist möglich, selbst das Drücken des "Fenster schließen" Xs wird mit einer Rot-Färbung derselbigen registriert jedoch werden durch berühren des Bildschirms nur Wahllos programme geschloßen auch wenn ich nur einen freien Bereich o.Ä. berühre.Der Stift wird Problemlos erkannt aber auch hier ist kein Zeichnen oder drücken möglich.Beim öffnen von OneNote, welches ich für Notizen nutze wird zudem kein Zeichnen per Hand mehr angeboten und wenn ich in den Einstellungen versuche den Bildschirm zu kalibrieren wird angezeigt, dass derselbige keine Stift oder Fingereingabe unterstützt. Ich hoffe ich konnte mein Problem anschaulich schildern und bitte um Hilfe.

Hallo, ich hatte vor ein paar Tagen das selbe Problem und konnte es wie folgt lösen:1. Drücke Windows + X2. Klicke auf "Geräte-Manager"3. Unter "Eingabegeräte (Human Interface Devices)" sollte irgendwo "Lenovo Pen Device" stehen. Wähle das aus.4. Klicke nun oben auf das rote X und deinstalliere den Treiber. GANZ WICHTIG: Aktiviere das Häkchen bei "Treibersoftware für dieses Gerät löschen".5. Schließe den Geräte Manager und starte anschließend dein Thinkpad neu. Der "Lenovo Pen Device" wird automatisch neu und fehlerfrei installiert. Ich hoffe ich konnte dir weiterhelfen!Gruß

So i got this laptop during orientation for the college i'm going to. I got excited when i saw the drawing programs on it so that i could sketch anywhere anytime without carrying a sketchbook to classes just in case i had time in between to draw. But the pen doesn't work. I have a Thinkpad Pen Pro, and while it seems charged and sometimes work, it's rare. In the 3D paint program, i can get a quick line out of the pen but not again. It's like the connection with the screen is wonky. How do i fix this?

Hello, My windows Hello was not working properly, so I decided to remove it from the "Computer management -> Device manager -> Biometric Devices -> IR (I am not sure about the name here, but I know that I removed the IR recognition device. I am attaching the image showing the exact position. One can see that Integrated IR camera is there under cameras, but, missing from the Biometric Devices.)" hoping that I will be able to download back and that might fix the problem. Unfortunately, I am unable to find that anywhere on the internet or Lenovo websites. I have already tried installing all the drivers related to IR Cameras as well as a regular camera.I also tried everything about windows hello drivers. I have also looked at windows websites.Nothing seemed to work and I am unable to get the Biometric Device back. Has it ever happened with anybody? I'm running windows 10, and suddenly my touchscreen stopped working. I checked in the device manager and the "HID compliant touch screen" was disconected. After trying to reinstall software, it was uninstalled and now the option does not even show up anymore. I reinstalled all lenovo drivers and im getting nothing. Windows has no idea its even there. Full disk format and a fresh copy of windows 10, and still nothing. This laptop has been through lenovo support again and again, the last time it went was kinda the last straw for me. :/ It's out of warranty now, but while it was in repair, other things on the computer were also damaged. Hence why it went back twice. But now suddenly the touch screen has stopped and I can't get a single response. Im hoping this is a driver malfunction somehow, but the touchscreen will not even show up in the device manager, not even under hidden devices. Any help?

I have my Yoga for 5 days and the touchscreen stopped working mid-use! Tried everything I could, I also have reinstalled the factory image. Touchpad and pen are working correctly but not the touchscreen.  The HID Touch device is in the hardware manager. It's a 20C0. I've open a service request yesterday, I'm still waiting. Does anyone else had this problem with a brand new Yoga?

I?m sorry to hear that touchscreen of your ThinkPad Yoga stopped responding.
 
Open Device Manager in control panel. Look for the option Human Interface Device. Under Human Interface Device, look for HID-compliant device. Right click on this option and choose Disable and then re-enable the same.
 
If the above said didn?t help, it could possibly be a hardware issue. I?m sure the Lenovo technical support can be of great assistance.

Recently My x1 yoga 2nd touchscreen not working with hand, working perfectly with pen. I update all the drivers with Lenovo Vantage and updated to latest windows 10 version (1809), I disable and enable the touchscreen drivers and loaded with safemode, changed back to Tabelet mode, they all did not work. From Device manager, everything seems ok and use Vantage to scan and they are all OK. Lenovo recommend to take a reset (not done). Lenovo's vantage say all the drivers are updated and Easy Driver still detect 29 more drivers to be updated (not done). are there 2 control modulars, one for pen touch (OK), the other for hand touch (not OK)? is this issue is hardware issue or software issue? waiting for professional advice? Thanks a lotThomas

Just today, the touchscreen on my Yoga Plus stopped working. I have tried everything, including reinstalling drivers, but I just get the message "driver is not intended for this platform." Neither the stylus nor the touch is longer working. Seems to be related to an upgrade of Touch Firmware from Lenovo.  Lenovo support here in Sweden recommends a complete reinstall of Windows.

(Code 45)"  I have done extensive searches in this site and in google and have not been able to find a solution.  It was working fine before the update.

Hello.Maybe someone can help me. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga with Win 10 running and in the past weeks it all worked fine. I used the Touchscreen and Tablet mode a bit and also used the pen occasionally. Since my flight back from Spain last weekend, the touchscreen stopped working. It does not react to fingers or the pen at all. I do not see an error message in the device manager, but am also not able to identify which device the toughscreen should be - I see no "wacom" device listed there. Wind 10 Hardware problem solver did not find anything. I also let the automated Lenovo driver updater run and it did some updates, but none regarding the touchscreen and it did not change anything. Now I first need to find out if it is a hardware or a software error - how can I do that?

Hi, I have  a Thinkpad X380 Yoga. The Thunderbolt 3 Dock will not charge my Thinkpad X380 YOGA, and a message saying that the dock is not providing enough power shows up on my minitor. I wonder if anyone have a solution to this problem. It does not make  sense to have to connect the Thunderbold AND the AC power to the Thinkpad, it should be just ONE Thunderbold cord. 1. My power brick is 135W, 20V-6.75A2. I am connecting the Thunderbolt to throuogh the port on the back of the dock.3. After the installation of the current Windows 10 Update (KB4471324, KB890830, KB4471331) my touchscreen stopped working partially. When I touch the screen, it is recognized and marked by the closing, grey circle. No action is executed though. In Chrome whatsoever I can steer all I want via the touchscreeen. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Does anyone have the same problem?I already reset windows to a previous state before the update, and it was fixed. The problem is, that Windows keeps on reinstalling the update and I cannot prevent it. Also running the thinkpad diagnostics tool only told me that it is not working, but nothing else.

Hello, I've got a brandnew ThinkPad X380 Yoga and after 3 days of using the pen isn't recognized anymore. I tried to update the driver and first that worked out, the pen was functioning perfectly again and as I checked it's battery it was fully loaded, so it can't be an issue of the pen I guess. But after 15 minutes of using it stopped working again and I couldn't find another solution than resetting and reinstalling the pen's driver so far, which is obviously pretty annoying if you need to do it every 15 minutes. I would be very glad if somebody could help me!

Hello, I am a support engineer for our organization, working on deploying 2000 or so Yoga x380's at the end of the month.
 
We currently have an issue where all of these machines will blue screen if they are shut down. This has only started happening since they were updated to Win10 1803 (1703 was the previous installation, and no issues there) Going back to 1703 is not an option, unfortunately. Attached is a screenshot of the BSOD - 
Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
What Failed: dump_storport.sys
 
I have:
Included the latest SCCM driver package in our repository and verified it is installing these drivers
Updated the BIOS to the most current (1.13?)
Manually downloaded and installed every driver on the "Drivers and support" page for this model, including multiple firmware flashes for every conceivable piece of hardware on the device
Run the disk cleanup utility to wipe away any trace of the previous 1703 install (windows.old)
 
Since we can't deploy like this, What can I do in order to get this fixed?

according to August edition, only some 45W and 65W adapters are compatibile? screencap on that section below.is there something special about Thinkpad X380 Yoga power input? we have users who have plugged in the old 90W ones and reported they do charge.[also the 135W (supposedly max to 90W? for power delivery?) come with Thunderbolt 3 dock, but that's different since it is via TB3/USB-C port, not the slim power port] we are curious, should we tell users to stop using the more powerful ones?  it is going to be bit hard to execute, we don't inventory those accessories, it will have to rely each personnel to check what they have (and quite a few bought separate ones for home)

Our company recently bought 2 x380 Yoga laptops. As our companys policy states that we need to encrypt all our laptop HDD/SDD.As encryption method our company uses McAfee drive encryprion DE 7.2.x. We didnt know that x380 Yoga by default uses Lenovo NVMe Opal SSD drives, which is way put encryption policy in use.  What we did:At first we discovered that SSD are encrypted using bitlocker, so we decrypted it. After that we deployed McAfee DE and successfully encrypted SSD. We confirmed encryption and did laptop restart. After restart laptop can no longer boot from SSD. Bios stops at choose boot device screen. We can see SSD in boot screen, but choosing disk does nothing, i assume it cant access to the boot sector. It looks like Opal SSD is locked. What can we do in such situation, Is there a way to unlock it? We dont need to preserve data on SSD.

I've had my X380 for only a few weeks now and I noticed it's already getting scratched from being in stand mode. I had an S1 Thinkpad Yoga for years and it never developed scratches from being in stand mode. I noticed that the rubber feet on the palmrest are not the high point but the area below the trackpad is and that's why it's getting scratched.I was thinking if I could get some more of the little rubber feet on the bottom of the palmrest I could maybe double them up to make them taller, but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if these can be bought on their own? Or maybe another suggestion to prevent the scratching? I've temporarily stuck some black rubber strips on the feet to make them taller, but it doesn't look that great.Thanks

I have multiple new x380s that connect to the Thunderdock 3.  All systems are fully patched.When using the Yoga disconnected from Dock the Fan operates normally, however when you connect them to the Dock the fan constantly runs and gets louder.  I have tried changing processor performance, and installing the fan speed patch that they recommended.  all with no luck.  has anyone had similar experience?  any luck in resolution?

Microsoft store only show some trial version of Dolby Atom for headphone and another app for Dolby Access, i assume neither are what the usually Dolby profile/EQ app is any suggestion, am i missing something?

I received my X380 Yoga with the i7-8550u a couple week back and the first thing I noticed was the fan running almost constantly. I checked task manager and noticed that even though the CPU usage is remaining low, the clock speed is running at around 3.80 GHz.  My power profile is set to balanced with the minimum processor state set to 5%. If I change the maximum processor state to 99% then the clock speeds drop to below the base speed of 1.99 GHz and the fan quites down.  The problem is the CPU will never go above 1.99 GHz when set like this, so performance is noticeably reduced. I've played around in the bios and the only thing that seems to drop the idle clock speed is to turn off Intel SpeedStep which again stops the CPU from going above 1.99 GHz. From my experience with my past computers the CPU should clock down when the load is low. Is this normal behaviour for this computer and processor? I am I missing a setting, or maybe a program or process is demanding full clock speed from the processor? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I have a ThinkPad X380 Yoga running Lenovo R0SET33W (1.17), 18-Jul-18 BIOS. I noticed that everytime I boot the laptop connected to the docking station or directly with electric power, the performance slows down significantly. Once I unplug the power cord for few seconds and reconnect, it starts functioning as normal. I have also noticed during course of operation connected to electric power, it starts to slow down but by unplugging and reconnecting, it's fixed. Assume this is a BIOS issue? Any other drivers needs to be updated? Thank you for your quick response.

I am curious if there are more people with the same problem, so I would ask you to reply, when it occurred to you too. The occurrence: Nothing extraordinary had happened. I put my laptop in good condition in a neoprene sleeve like every morning.Then I put it in the laptop compartment of my bag. After ten minutes I was at work, got the laptop out of the bag and sleeve, opened it and the screen was cracked all overThe only difference with the other mornings was that the temperature outside was a little colder in comparison with other days. Because I could not prove it was not my fault, Lenovo didn't do on site repairs, but I had to send my laptop in. After three weeks it came back repaired. I had to pay ?465.When it was back, I discovered a small fracture in the cover at the hinge. Now Lenovo sent in the on site repairman, because it should have been repaired. When he tried to carefully remove the cover, immediately a new crack appeared in the new screen. The repairman blamed it on the screen being under too much tension. Now they will repair it in some days. Hello, I recently bought a Thinkpad X380 and installed the CAD software Solidworks 2017 on it. I don't expect the laptop to have the performance of a CAD work station, but the performance in Solidworks is so poor that I actually cannot do any simple 3D modelling. I suppose there is a problem with the driver of the Intel UHD 620 graphics card.I'm currently using driver version 24.20.100.628. Does anybody have any experience with this issue?Is there a way to request a driver update from lenovo? Thank you in advance! RegardsSebastian

A friend of mine brought his Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11E touch - by today because after he did a "clean install of windows 10 Pro. his touchscreen is no longer working...I've just spent the last 2 hrs. installing the "lenovo" drivers and software packages...But can't seem to located the HID touchscreen drivers or any documentation to support the touchscreen on the "Lenovo" site...I've also tried all the "lenovo" whiz bang apps the fix this issue...Does anyone have this model: Intel Celeron N2930 (2.16 GHz),8GB RAM,128GB Solid State Drive,11.6in 1366x768 Touchscreen LCD,Intel 802.11agn wireless,4c Li-Ion,Win8.1 Pro 64 - (Lenovo's description of this PC) that has been able to get the touchscreen working post windows 10 install? Or a link to the correct drivers for the touchscreen? Or could Lenovo support maybe point to these packages so I can get this thing working as marketed...

I've come across a pretty weird problem. When I used my pen last it worked fine, but now it's having trouble when I try to click. Hovering works fine, but any time I try to click on anything on the desktop or within an app, it won't do anything. When I try to click in a browser, it usually does nothing, except for Microsoft Edge, which crashes completely, and Chrome, which works perfectly with the pen. I spent a few hours in pen settings and looking online for help but wasn't able to do much to fix the problem. In pen settings, it says that I haven't used my pen at all since September (although I've used it within the past few weeks with no problems). Any tips/ideas?

Hello, After the windows 10 updated,the sound isn't working anymore. The "Realtek" driver disappeared and now I am using Conexant Smart Audio. I have updated the driver on Device Manager, I have disabled the enhancements,also I have uninstalled and install the drivers again..basically I have tried anything found on Microsoft and Lenovo community .. I don't know what to do anymore?Any ideas? Thanks

Hello,  I just bought a X380 and a Thunderbolt 3 dock and it seems that even if I updated the driver to the latest one, my dock is still not working to provide power supply to my laptop via the USB C Cable. It has different error messages: 1. plugged in, discharging2. plugged in, not charging3. it is plugged it, it shows like it is charging but it is not.  I don't know what to do anymore and I would really like to work. Could you please advise?Also, my battery is draining, from 100% to 86% in 10 minutes without heavy usage.  Thank you for your help!

I installed the most recent windows 10 x64 synaptic driver this morning here on the lenovo site.  The new driver installed fine, but then after I went to reboot my system, the touchscreen was not working. I tried installing the march 1st Touchscreen patch from the same page, and it didnt fix it.   Under the device manager I have located the Touchscreen, it is showing up under Human Interface Devices, as an unrecognized USB input device.  In the properties window, listed under Events, it lists the "Device onfigured (null)".  After trying to install synaptics again later on, I get "Device not migrated", then "Device configured (input.inf)", and finally "Device not startd (HidUsb)". I don't have a wacom stylus, just the standard one that came with the device.Any help resolving this would be much appreciated.

I recently decided to use my Wacom Graphics tablet with my Yoga 260. After all the necessary drivers were installed for the Graphics tablet. The touchscreen on the laptop seems to have disappeared, where it had worked perfectly beforehand. I went through the Device Manager and settings and the computer says that there is no longer any touch screen support. I am using Windows 10 and was really hoping that I could use both the computer and the Graphics tablet together. Can somebody please help or give me a way of enabling my touchscreen?Thanks in advance!

Can you please post the full machine model number of you Thinkpad ? And also which Wacom tablet are you using externally?
 
I have TP Yoga 14 that has a Wacom touch screen and I have a Wacom Bamboo at home. I will try tonight to see if when I connect the Wacom external tablet it disconects my touch screen.

Hello everyone, Yesterday night I put my computer to sleep with a functioning keyboard backlight, when I woke it up today morning I noticed that the keyboard backlight has stopped working!! I can confirm that both my Fn and spacebar keys are working fine! Pressing the Fn and spacebar keys together does not even bring up the small visual on the display which shows that the backlight mode has changed. I tried using the Lenovo Vantage app to turn on the backlight, but also to no avail. Lenovo Vantage shows me that it did an update to the "Lenovo intelligent thermal solution" driver to version 1.0.1.267. I even rolled back the driver to its previos version using device manager to 1.0.1.248 but the problem is still persistent.  Please help!! Thank you!
