Brand new screen looks like it has fabric ripples.

Q: Brand new screen looks like it has fabric ripples.

Brand new Hp right out of the box and as best as I can describe it, it looks like a bed sheet if you placed something down on the bed, you would see the fabric ripple 360 around the object. looks better straight on, but worse from off angle. First if this is a thing, whats it called? Also I assume this is not a troubleshoot kid of thing, I beleive the screen is a bunch of layers and this would be a defect of one of them. Although it is lessened by looking straight on it is still visiable and more so depending on the colors displayed. So is this covered under warrentee? I purchased thru Amazon, would I be better off just returning and getting a new one. Is it a common issue with this model?

Preferred Solution: Brand new screen looks like it has fabric ripples.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

it just started doing this.. is there somethign wrong with my video card maybe? i checked for any magnetic objects around my monitor, none, and i degaussed the monitor. did nothing. it doesnt always ripple. it only ripples with certain colors. any help would be definitely appreciated.

A:screen ripples!

you will need to provide a bit more information about your system and it's recent history in order to get some good replies about the nature of your problem.

I had a Dell desktop with integrated video that had the screen ripple problem and I replaced alot of hardware before I discovered that the motherboard had blown capacitors. Blown capacitors can be hard to see if you don't have alot of experience looking for them them. If your motherboard has blown capacitors then it's done for.

That being said though, your problem could have many causes and the only way to really identify it is to have more information about your total setup and recent history

Hi, I am going crazy trying to find a solution for this.
I am on windows 8.1, and I use a wacom tablet.
I managed some time ago to disable the hold menus and ripples when using the tablet, and was very happy and content, disabling windows ink in the wacom preferences worked perfectly, and I was drawing and having fun.
Until today that is.
I wanted to use pixiv sketch in google chrome, and use pen pressure in it which should work, but it didnt at first. Trying to make it work I tried everything, reinstalling drivers, etc, but what finally worked was reactivating windows ink.
So to be able to use pen pressure in pixiv sketch in google chrome, I have to activate windows ink. Sadly that also means lagging input, ugly horrible ripple effects for no reason and splotches and hiccups as I draw. It can't be so dumb that I actually have
to choose between having pen pressure and my sanity right?
I have been to regedit and activated "turn off pen feedback" by both methods, which actually does remove it, for like 5 seconds, then it comes back??? why??
Obviously it can be removed since it did go away for like 5 seconds? why does it come back??
Is there any way to use windows ink on windows 8.1 without having those annoying ripples? or should I just draw without pen pressure in pixiv sketch and at least not want to die everytime my drawing gets ruined by splotches and lag...
Hope someone out there has a solution because my face is tired from all this

Hi all! I'm a new Thinkpad user and I've got to say, the Thinkpad experience is great. It's refreshing to come to a laptop with more features and better accessibility compared to other laptop brands. I love that nearly every inch of my Thinkpad is easy to get to and fix if something goes wrong. That said, I've been having screen issues lately.  Basically, every time I move the Thinkpad off my lap and onto my bed, the screen slightly ripples in the middle. Like this, except it occurs towards the lower middle half of the screen. Gently pressing on the bezels of the screen (left and right) also cause ripples in the same area (lower middle half)--maybe this is supposed to happen, since you're deliberately pressing against the screen. Moving the screen up or down also makes the ripple occur. I always move my screen back and forth as gently and firmly as I can--with both hands gripping either side of the screen. But even when I'm being super careful, the screen still ripples. Tapping the back of the screen ever so slightly also causes ripples. Now that's what's worrying me the most. A gentle, slight tap shouldn't cause ripples on the screen, surely. The ripples get BIG if I tap the lower middle of the Thinkpad's lid. I can't say that I've noticed this behaviour before. It seems to have started just recently. I removed the screen's plastic frame and cleaned the sides of the LCD, thinking that something was stuck between the frame and the LCD, but doing ... I have just become interested in putting my images onto fabric but didn't want to use the T-shirt paper transfer that Epsom offers as it comes with a plastic coating that adheres to the fabric. In my search for something else I found a paper they call "Fabric Carrier". It has a tacky substance on it and when pealing off the protective layer you can place, I presume on a reasonably thin fabric, and adjust it to lie smoothly then trim it to the size of the paper and feed it through my printer (an Epsom Photo 820) and end up with a result when pealed from the page that is just a printed piece of fabric with an image directly on it.
I was hoping rather then order it from the States, I live in Canada, and then pay shipping, duty and perhaps delivery charges, I was hoping to find this product in Canada or create my own. I was thinking that someone may have found a spray or mix that I could apply to my own paper and have the same result. Does this sound reasonable or is there too much chance of ruining the printer with an overflow of the product during the printing session?
Does anyone know of a Canadian source or how to create this on my own?

Too much spare time on my hands.

I accidentally deleted my nvidia graphics drivers, and the latest version doesnt work. Knowing the drivers which came with the computer will let me re install them. Thanks.

A:Lenovo flex 3 1580 Nvidia graphics drivers fabric version

You might check to see if the earlier drivers are still present on your system by doing the following Right-click on StartSelect Device ManagerLeft-click on Display Adapters to expand.Right-click on your display adapter, and select Update DriverSelect "Browse my computer for driver software"Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"This should provide a list of drivers previously installed on your systemTo switch to one of them, choose an older driver and click Next.It would be hard to know exactly what driver was installed when your system was new, because Lenovo does not provide release notes for its drivers as its certifies them, but older drivers for the Nvidia 940M card should be available from Nvidia, as well as newer driver versions that those release by Lenovo that may resolve your problem. which can be found here https://www.geforce.com/drivers Good Luck,

I have an Acer Aspire AS3810TZ-4806 and have owned it for a good 4-5 years. I've had some LCD issues for a couple years now where the light flickers, have big black spots and FINALLY the screen gave out. it's almost completly dark now. You can faintly see images. After some research on replacement, a compatible Acer LCD on Ebay would run roughly $60. I've concluded that It's either the bulb inside (CCFL??) or the inverter that may have an issue, but I have no way of testing which is broken since I have no spare LCD screen to test or a little tester device.

What I've discovered was my lcd screen's model # was : B133XW01 V2 . After googling this model # and a search on Ebay, I've discovered a Dell Latitude 13 or a couple other Dell brands share this same model, the difference is it says " V1." Im assuming version 1 or something, and the one I have is V2. The connectors look the same. I feel like it might work. What do you think? Below are a couple Ebay links im looking at, Does that "H/W" code matter?
Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

The display is actually hiding the posting boot sequence, you can look in your BIOS to see if there is a way to turn it off, but you may not be able to change it, and it looks like compaq has finished updating the BIOS so it will always be there.

Hi monggoking

This looks like a one of case.. you just have 1 BSOD as far as i can see in the logs... which is caused by photoshop. Could be a bad reference to the scratch pad or memory.

You should be good to go... unless these kind of BSOD appears constantly

If it happens again do post in more dumps.

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read my problem. A few hours ago, I received my HP Pavilion 15-au007ni from a local store in ZA. We started the transaction for it a week ago but due to the fact that it was out of stock, it had to still be ordered into the store. So when I finally did get it from the store today, it was still sealed and totally brand new. I came home to set it up right away, and the first thing I noticed was that it makes a strange "crackling" noise. It's not very loud but it concerned me since the only noise my old laptop regularly made was the noise of the fan. I ignored it, thinking that maybe it's just because the machine is very new and still "acclimatizing" or something to that effect. But then the screen glitches started. It's not as bad as the ones I saw online when I tried to google it. It's also not a continuous glitch nor does it last very long. It only happens every 10 minutes or so or just before the screen goes into sleep mode or after you take it out of sleep mode. Just flickers of horizontal static-y lines that distorts the screen for a few seconds and then stops. All I have done with the laptop is go through the windows set-up and tried to download Chrome (stopped it because the glitches concerned me too much). Other than that, I've done nothing to it. Although, I did note that the glitches mostly just happens when the laptop is running on battery. I'm not sure if the glitches occur when it's plugged in ... A:2 Blue Screen Events on Brand New PC

You should post your system specs as well as what you were doing when this occurred.

Did you run system update after getting your computer up and running, are all your drivers up to date? You might need to update to latest Flash if it crashed during streaming. A non comprehensive google search of your problem seems to indicate that other people had graphics driver issues when they got this error code.

As an aside, I always advise people that have brand new computers that don't work to contact the manufacturer for tech support. A brand new computer should not crash out of the box.

Just recieved a new PC today, and upon plugging it in and starting it up, it had blue dots spread around the BIOS screen, then two red lines down the screen while it loaded Windows 7. The loading bar then freezes, and it bluescreens and tries to restart.
When I tried to put it in Safe Mode, it says it cant run Setup while in Safe Mode.
Personally I think this is a hardware issue:

Intel i7 920 @ 2.66ghz
3 x 1gb OCZ Gold DDR3 RAM
Asus Radeon RX4850 1gb
Seagate 500gb HDD
Asus X58 P6T Deluxe
>>>> OCZ Mod X-Stream Pro 500W <<<<< - the possible problem, I dont think the company has given me nearly enough power to run the compenents properly.

This PC came from an Insurance supplier - as its a replacement PC to one that got stolen, and they didnt send me the PSU I asked for.

Any help much appreciated

Using troubleshoot's system restore. After minutes of waiting, system restore completed successfully and so i restart. But it went black again.

I tried automatic repair, but nothing good came out.

Tried startup setting to enable safe mode. but unfortunately, it went black after I click the restart button.

Please help me, i'm desperate, been a week... :'(
I don't want to use refresh or reset option.

A:Black screen after brand's logo.

Is it Black but with a Mouse? Or just Black. It may be pending an Auto Repair, and you have to let that finish. Sometimes it takes a long time, it will stay in that black screen for 15 minutes in some cases. My Media system does this, particularly when the Drive has Errors, and until I can use the Install disk to run a Scandisk from Command Prompt, it never gets past that black screen.

The other Black screen with Mouse usually shows up after you see your Skydrive Login, instead of showing your Lockscreen, it goes black with a mouse. But even in that state, I was able to pull up Task Manager and run an In-Place install. Try a scandisk from either an Install DVD or a Hiren's Boot Disk, from MiniXP, see if you got Disk errors. Ive had numerous Errors with Windows 8, and it all comes back to the disk needing to be scanned.

Hi everyone and thank you in advance for your help.

I am a total newb when it comes to computers so please let me know if you need additional information.

This is a brand new pc which I received 10 days ago and I get the blue screen of death once a day with the following error code: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80002fb40f3, 0xfffff880033698b8, 0xfffff88003369120). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 072810-11796-01.

If I just restart windows normally (don't even have to use safe mode) everything works totally fine and I have no problems. If I turn off the computer and start it within 5 minutes I have no problems. I turn it off in the night and restart it the next day and then again I get this blue screen with the same problem. Once I turn the pc off and on (select start windows normally) there are no problems. Really not a big deal at this point but I am afraid it may get worse over time and if there is a real issue I might as well get it fixed now while it is under warranty. A:Blue Screen on brand new computer

Hi Mark,

These are just a few quick questions that will help other people with diagnosing your problem. (IE: People more talented than I)

Have you recently installed any Windows Updates to your computer that either failed or were unsuccessful?

Have you recently installed any drivers on your computer?

Did your machine come pre-installed for you, or did you format and install Windows 7 yourself?

Please include the model of your video-card as well as the version of your current drivers.

To find this information select the start orb (The blue orb in the corner of your taskbar), and type "dxdiag" (Without quotations.) into the search area near the bottom.

A dialogue box may appear and prompt you if you wish to check if your drivers are digitally signed (Either option won't hurt your computer any).

Once the DirectX Diagnostic tool has loaded, please select the 'display' tab.

On the left hand side you will see the name of your video-card, and on the right you should see the version number of your drivers.

Please include this information in your next post, thanks!

On the blue screen it tells me it is an uncorrectable hardware error, after restart, windows gave me the following error msg:

Additional information about the problem:

Files that help describe the problem:
This problem happens seemingly at random. During idol, during games or movies. I'd like to not have to send it back to the manufacturer after waiting a month yet having it only a few days.

Sys specs:
Win 64 Ultimate
4.0 ghz (Factory overclocked) i7 cpu
12g ram
quad sli nvidia 295's
Sound Blaster X-FI sound card.

If there is a way I can correct this issue, i'm all ears.

A:Blue screen error, cannot use brand new pc.

A stop 0x124 is indeed a hardware error report.

It's a bit like having your new car's engine develop a problem whereby it's stopping randomly while you're driving. Do you really want to be pulling out the spanners and troubleshooting yourself, possibly at the risk of voiding the warranty, or do you take it back to the dealer?

Hey guys i have a question i have a Philips LCD PC Monitor where the board is fried its a 23 inch,
I also have a Samsung 19 inch same year but only 19 inch but all the wiring color codes are a exact match.
Can i use my 23 inch with the Samsung, or will it fry my board.
I can imagine some issues, I SHOULD NOT USE THE BUTTONS ON THE OLD SAMSUNG SCREEN because they do different things , they have 3 things in common wiring colorcodes are a perfect match power button and the "auto feature BUT not located the same place on the side of screen only the power button match" so i should prob not use the auto features or menu because even though both screens have that feature, my guess is that because they are not in the same place it might send the wrong signal
My Samsung has
Power menu up down auto buttons
Power up menu down turbo auto buttons on the side.
But i really just need the power button everything else Windows controls
BUT the size might be a problem if Windows does not control all of it because my samsung is a 19 inch and if i replace screen with a 23 inch well my Samsung MB still thinks its a 19 Inch
So can i use my 23 phillips 23 inch with my samsung 19 inch "replacing the 19 inch with the 23.)
The reason i want to do this is because i get bigger and my Phillips has a much better Image.
I was totally amazed ever color code and screen fittings are a match, they are both made in Taiwan same year.
So i am guessing same factory made it.
So brainstorm a... Read more

A:Replace my PC LCD SCREEN with another brand all sockets fit??

Well found some bad news even though it seems most Screen MB's are Samsung the screen Ribbon's might be different all though it fits perfectly damn Shame had hoped it would work so unless someone has done this with susses i better not try or i will end up with a fried Samsung MB.
So i better put my old 19 inch back in the Screen Case what a shame.

I just received (today) my new T480 and the laptop screen flickers / flashes intermittenly. I have only installed Firefox, but want to upgrade it (RAM, SSD, etc.) but am not touching it until I resolve this screen flickering issue. I have consulted the boards and:Disabled the "Display Refresh Rate Switching" in the Power Settings in both the "Intel Graphics Control Panel"...and now the "Dynamic Refresh Rate Switching" in the newer "Intel Graphics Command Center" which replaced the Intel Graphics Control Panel (ugh!)Updated BIOS (version 1.30)Uninstalled, reinstalled, and upgraded the Intel Graphics UHG 620 Display Adapter driver (version - 11/13/2019)Intalled all Windows and Intel updatesDisabled "Problems Reports and Solutions Control Panel" and "Windows Error Reporting" services.Anything else I'm missing here?  Or do I have a wonky graphics cable / hardware? Regardless, service ticket here I come!

Every once in a while (seemingly random) my screen will glitch out completely. I have no control over the cursor or keyboard and i have to turn off the computer to fix the issue temporarily. The laptop is about a week old and i have tried updating the graphics drivers but the glitch still occurs. I will attach some photos of the screen. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I've had my new HP Laptop for only a few weeks and it's blue screening on me.

When I go to the Vista folder called Problem Reports and Solutions, it tells me I'm having this problem on a regular basis:

Service CyberLink Background Capture Service (CBCS) hung on starting.
For instance, the log right now says this has happened 9 times in the last 3 days - two of those times were simultaneous with a blue screen. When I click on "check for solutions", I get "no solutions found".

Should I take my laptop back and get my $$ back? Or is there something I can do to eliminate the blue screens?

You should contact the manufactuer of the computer before you take the laptop back. Since the laptop is only a few weeks old, it's under warranty and the manufacture's Customer Service Department should be able to help you.

If you don't get any satisfaction from the Customer Service Department then take it back to the store and either damand a refund or an exchange for a new laptop.

Good Luck

Hey guys, just a quick problem. Just got a brand new Lenovo Ideapad 700 i7 from Costco (this is the link with specs and such: http://www.costco.com/Lenovo-Ideapad-700-Laptop---Intel-Core-i7---1080p---4GB-NVIDIA-Graphics.produc...) and have had it for about a week now. Only things I've downloaded so far onto it are Avira antivirus, Google Chrome, Blizzard's Battle.Net Hearthstone game, and a few of the Lenovo apps (tetris, youtube, winzip, vlc). Other than that haven't done anything to this machine and have only used it to browse the internet a bit, so it's basically brand new. Have not plugged into anything except the charger that it came with, have not used HDMI or anything else so if it's trying to screenshare or something (read that this was a possibility elsewhere) it's doing it autonomously. Came with Windows 10.
Well the problem is that sometimes the screen will just randomly go blank while I'm using it - like a black screen but still lit like the computer is on - and the laptop will not respond to anything. Control alt delete does nothing, if a video was playing the sound will stop playing, and the backlit keyboard will lose its lighting. It's happened probably 5 or 6 times now, and every time the only solution has been to hold down the power button to turn it off and then restart it. It will stay on with the blank screen for hours until you manually reset it, although it happened again about 15 minutes ago and restarted itself (was in another room wh... Read more

Hi there, Aleraziz                    -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
Sorry that this has happened so soon after you purchased the system.  One possibility which is currently a hot topic leads me to ask if this happened after a restart of the system when it had updated itself to the Windows 10 Anniversary edition?  More information on this can be found here; https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Windows-10-Anniversary-Update-version-1607/m-p/3414003#M4381

Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1
I originally installed Windows 7 on this machine.
The OS is an OEM version I purchased from newegg.
The system is less than one month old.
I installed the OS less than one month ago.
I have not reinstalled it.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi)
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 (650 Watts)

I built this computer.
There is no serial number.

I bought and assembled this machine in October, using an OEM version of Windows 7. I have encountered kernel panics when playing PopCap games or using Flash or Silverlight in Firefox, among other things. In most cases, the computer is not being taxed very much, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

First, I installed all of the drivers recommended by the manufacturers, and installed the most recent BIOS version for my motherboard.

Second, I checked the RAM using the Windows Memory Diagnostic and memtest86.

Third, I ran the Driver Verifier tool with no clear results.

Fourth, I ran a few stress tests on the GPU. Besides heating up some during the tests, the GPU didn't do anything out of the ordinary.

Fifth, I double-checked the inside of the machine. For this machine, I have 3 case fans, and the 3 built-in fans for the CPU, GPU, and power supply. None of them appeared to have any physical problems, and all of them have been running. I believe that air is flowing through without any trouble.

I have been checking the minidumps and MEMORY.DMP ... Read more

Recommendations:A portion of the crashes were DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run a system file check to check Windows for corruption: Click Start Menu
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Right click Command Prompt
Click Run as administrator
sfc /scannow
and press Enter
Once it is complete, make note of the message. If it says Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and post back
If the message does not say Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and do steps 1-6 again.
You may need to do steps 1-6 up to three times with a restart in between each run to resolve all corrupted files.
If you still have corrupted files after a fourth run, post back here with the following:Click Start Menu
Click Computer
Open your C: drive
Open Windows
Open Logs
Open CBS
Copy and paste CBS.log or CBS (it may not have the log extension) to a location you will remember.
Compress (zip) the CBS file and attach the .zip file to your next post.

Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.
Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)

Well, this doesn't appear to be an uncommon thing but I have no idea what I've done to manage this. Brand new Yoga, barely 12 hours old.  Other than downloading Chrome as a browser and cleaning up some of the Start icons (ie:  unpin them) and set up Outlook, I have done nothing else. And now the computer screen will not auto-flip into Tent mode / Tablet mode.   I figure a setting somehow passively got pushed.  To be clear, it is not the bottom right notifications bar - rotation lock is not grayed out there and is on the "off" position.  However if I go to display, it's fully grayed out there.  I can manually set the computer into tablet mode and flip the screen. So somehow somethign else is acting on the action of the Rotation lock, forcing it into the locked landscape position. How can I get this back to Auto-rotate and tablet mode?  Please?

I purchased a new Lenovo 320 15 from best buy today. While loading programs I attempted to adjust the screen angle and immediately it cracked from the place where I touched the screen on the side. The computer was not dropped, hit, banged or anything. There is absolutely NO damage to the computer shell. If you opened another brand new one and place them side by side there'd be no difference. I could not believe a computer 6 could be this fragile. Neither BEST BUY OR LENOVO will cover the repair or replace. I would NEVER had bought this product if I'd known it was this fragile and cheaply made. I am beyond pissed about this waste of money!!
