WMI : remote query : access denied

Q: WMI : remote query : access denied

Hello, thanks for reading,
I would like to monitor my Bitlocker deployment though WMI.
I made a VB.NET app that queries the Win32_EncryptableVolume.
When the app is locally launched, it's working; I received the 'driveletter' and the 'protectionstatus'.
When the app queries remotely a machine, the access is denied.
Here is my connection
Dim Scope As New ManagementScope("\\" & PC & "\ROOT\CIMV2\Security\MicrosoftVolumeEncryption")
Scope.Connect()
Dim Query As New ObjectQuery("SELECT * FROM Win32_EncryptableVolume")
Dim Searcher As New ManagementObjectSearcher(Scope, Query)
Dim queryCollection As ManagementObjectCollection = Searcher.Get
For Each mObject As ManagementObject In queryCollection
blablabla
Next
more INFO:
My network has a mix of Win7Pro & Win7Ent.
The local FW is disabled when the machine is on my CN.
With the command 'dcomcnfg', 'COM' security has been adapted to enable the remote access, remote launch and remote activation. I did the same for the DCOM "Windows Management Instrumentation".
Any idea? o_O
Give thanks & praise

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks for your comments.
I had a look in the eventvwr and found it was a problem of 'authentication'.
I added this code and everything is ok. I can remotely 'scan' my LAN and have a real-time status of Bitlocker.
Dim myConnectionOptions As New System.Management.ConnectionOptions
With myConnectionOptions
.Authentication = System.Management.AuthenticationLevel.Connect
.Authentication = System.Management.AuthenticationLevel.PacketPrivacy

Hi,

I have 2 machines at home. One runs Windows 10 and the other Windows 7.

They both have team viewer on them for when I'm away, such as now.

The Windows 10 machine has dropped off the Team Viewer list. I can't even RDP in to in from the W7 machine (RDP as a fall back in case team viewer crashes etc)

Now I've run an IP scan and the IP address which was fixed at .12, seems to have gone to DHCP, checked by the MAC address on the IP scanner. I also guess the time of this crash was roughly 3am, as there is an error log on the W7 machine saying it lost connect to the back up computer.

Now I am wondering if it's a W10 auto update which has reset all the network settings, including the firewall, which has now blocked access to Team Viewer and RDP.

As I'm currently 200 miles away, and cannot get access to these machines physically, is there a way to regain control, or do I have to wait until I'm home and sort this out in its presence!?

Thanks.

Access is denied when attempting to shutdown another computer using the shutdown command:

shutdown.exe /s /m \\COMPUTERNAME /t 00

Result:
COMPUTERNAME: Access is denied.(5)

Enabling Windows 8 Remote Shutdown from command.

I am using this solution on a home workgroup local network. The solution works for shutdown.exe and psshutdown.exe. It works for Windows 8 and should work for Windows 7.

CHANGE THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS ON THE REMOTE COMPUTER:
Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Change Advanced Sharing settings
"Private" enable "Turn on File and Printer sharing"

Add Registry Key

RUN regedt32.exe

Goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Right click and add new DWORD

"LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy"=dword:00000001

When user name and password are not the same on both computers change the following on the remote computer:
Change Local Security Policy

RUN secpol.msc

Local Security Policy, Security Settings, Local Policies, User Rights Assignment
Add "Everyone" to "Force shutdown from a remote system"

Hi,
I'm having quite some troubles shutting down a Win 8.1 x64 computer remotely, using the shutdown command.
I searched online for solutions and tried several things, mostly the solution [1] seems to boil down to adding the reg-key LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy=1
(i), adding an account on the machine to be shutdown, matching the credentials of the user on the machine shutting down (ii), adding "Everyone" to the "Force
shutdown from a remote system" entry via secpol.msc (iii).
I did (i) and (ii), while (iii) will not work for me since on my remote machine (the one shutting down) I'm logged
on with a user of the company's domain, while the machine to be shut down is not in the domain (and is not supposed to be). Also, the solution I'm looking for should work in different setups as well, thus in the final setup I will most likely be using a diffent
user in a different domain anyways.
Is there no way of simply deactivate all the security stuff and let shutdown do it's work? Security is really not a concern at all in my use case, it just has to work.
Thanks

I have a computer that I want to shutdown remotely via command line (the shutdown -i), and if I have "password enable sharing" turned on I get access denied(5) but if that is turned off it works fine.
How can I get this working again?
I have read that I may need to create a user account with the same username and password of the account on this computer I wish to shutdown, but I have tried this and it does not work, plus having a extra account on either computer is kind of annoying,
isn't there a way I can do it without having the same user account on my two PCs? Maybe like just using the username and password of the remote computer directly without actually having that account created on my PC?

A:Remote shutdown Access Denied (5)

Hello,
You can alternatively add your matching credentials to the server or computer you are trying to shut down remotely and make sure that the user has sufficient local privileges to perform a shutdown. I checked the shutdown switches but I could not find a switch
that lets you enter alternate credentials for the shutdown.

NOTE: I could not post code because I must be really careful to protect proprietary information.

I work in an assembly plant and I've designed an Access 2003 program to deliver a set of 4 crucial parts to the floor all within a very narrow degree of tolerance. Further, the program integrates FIFO.

Ive done this by assigning each of the essential measurements codes and then running a series of queries:

Query 1 identifies the oldest Part A by sorting the available parts by the date they were inspected then by serial number (to break ties) and delivering the TOP 1.
Query 2 identifies the oldest Part B that is compatible with that Part A using the same method.
Query 3 identifies the oldest Part C that is compatible with that Part B.
Query 4 identifies the oldest Part D that is compatible with the other end of Part A. I have the parts in this order because we can begin assembly if we don't have a Part D on hand, but we must have Parts A, B, and C.
Finally, query 5 simply pulls the information from those queries into one location for a report.
As long as we have enough stock, life is good; but the moment a match cannot be made, it blows up. I cannot figure out how to make it go back to choose the next Part A. I need to figure out how and where to add code to each query to tell it that if no stock is compatible with the Part A produced by Query 1, to go back and pick the next one in line.

Can anyone help? Is the way I've gone about matching parts completely... Read more

Hi there,

I'm very new to access and I hope I will get the simplest solution on my question below.

I have a table named "PurchaseOrder" and I'd want to create a query that will display the invoices that will due.

Eg:

Table1
PONo Customer Quantity SalesPrice InvoiceDueDate
3241 A 421 $12 17-Oct-2010
6589 B 521 $19 14-Oct-2010
2234 C 987 $32 15-Oct-2010
8697 D 888 $88 18-Oct-2010

I want to create 2 queries.

The first query will display all the invoices that will due 5 days before the exact due date.
Eg:
The invoice due date is 15-Oct-2010. The query will display information on 3241, 6589, and 2234.

For the second query, I want to display all the invoices that have exceeded the due date. The information on the respective invoices will be transfered from the query as mentioned earlier to the new query.

The scenario is as below:

Date: 16-Oct-2010

Query1

PONo Customer Quantity SalesPrice InvoiceDueDate
3241 A 421 $12 17-Oct-2010
8697 D 888 $88 18-Oct-2010

Query2

PONo Customer Quantity SalesPrice InvoiceDueDate
6589 B 521 $19 14-Oct-2010
2234 C 987 $32 15-Oct-2010
Date: 18-Oct-2010

Query2

PONo Customer Quantity SalesPrice InvoiceDueDate
8697 D 888 $88 18-Oct-2010

Query2

PONo Customer Quantity SalesPrice InvoiceDueDate
6589 B 521 $19 14-Oct-2010
2234 C 987 $32 15-Oct-2010
3241 A 421 $12 17-Oct-2010
Hope someone can help me with this. Really appreciate and hoping for ur help.

Hi,
I'm having an issue where when attempting to create a local port, on a remote PC via the Print Management Console in Windows 7, I get an "Access Denied" error message.

All machines are domain joined.Tried with W10 and Server 2008 R2, too - same issue.Firewall (all three states) off.AV solution completely removed.Tried with highest domain admin account.Tried with UAC turned off and on.Ran as admin when launching console.GP - Point and Print Restrictions - Disabled.GP - Allow Print Spooler to accept client connections - Enabled.Print and File Sharing - On.Network Sharing - On.
To clarify, it is simply creating the port element that fails.

Can create TCP/IP ports OK.Can create Local Ports on the local machine OK - just not on remote machines. Can install printer if an existing local port is used, so drivers install OK.Using PowerShell, can use the Add Printer Port command to add the local port, no problems there.
It just seems to be an issue where the console attempts to verify if the said port exists, that the issue occurs.  If a put in an invalid port name in, it will bring up the correct response of "the network name cannot be found".
Cheers!

I have written a macro to make a table from data in an existing table. Then I use the data in the new table to select information in another table. That select query does not allow me to update the information in the 2nd table. It is like the records are locked. Even if I create a new table myself the select queries are locked but all my pre-existing queries work fine. Is there some type of setting I am missing that causes the information to be locked in select queries? I am thinking somehow the setting may have been changed. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've got a lending table in which we lend items out, now they can be loan or permanent.

I can run a report with the query parameter on the ReqDate_Fld criteria Between [Report Start Date] And [Report End Date]

The report prints and counts everything borrowed.

Now I want to add more records to the report to include everything borrowed that was returned during that period specified by the criteria Paramenter set in the query. But using the Return Date (RetDate_Fld)

How can I select rows from the query based on the parameter date filled in when the query ran?
[Report Start Date] and [Report End Date].

I can build a separate report just for the returns using the current parameter but on the RetDate_Fld Between [Report Start Date] And [Report End Date] set by the query.

I've got it grouping at 3 levels to get it to break by Borrower, ReqID, and Request Date

Does this make any sense?
Thanks

A:Solved: Access query report query paramater use the param

You would have to have another group for whether or not the RetDate_Fld was filled in or not.
Add a new column to the query with the following Heading

RetDatefilled: iif(not isnull(RetDate_Fld), 2, 1)

That should place a 2 in the new column when there is a date and a 1 when there isn't.
You can now group on that data.

I have a previously designed Access DB and there is a query that I am trying to understand. It has several tables that are queried more than once in a single query. First how do I determine the actual table name? I can only see the alias name. Also what is the purpose of using the same table twice in a query?

A:Solved: Access Query using tables more than once in same query

It is normally to do calculations or comparisons on prior or next records. It is the one weekness of Access Queries, the Totals function has some good arithmetic calculations like average, Count Sum etc but manipulating previous records like add or subtract values from the current record it can't do. So it requires more advanced SQl. Which is apperas you have.
Have you looked at the query in SQL view?
It should use the word "As" to designate the alias.

For a report I have a customer table, an invoice table and a revenue or payment table.

I need to produce a report that shows all the invoices created during a given month and year - that part is easy.

But then I also need to show the first payment given on that invoice. This is a situation where there is always a down payment made at the issuance of the invoice - but sometimes people will make more than one payment during a month.

Example:

I want the customer listed for each new invoice, the total amount of that invoice and what the inital payment on that invoice was: [CustomerID][Customer Name] [Invoice No][Total Invoice Amount] [Payment Amt]

So if there was an invoice issued for $100 and they paid 50 and 25 during the month it was issued and the balance on the next month, I still want to show it on this report as a $100 invoice with a $50 downpayment only.

(The tables are established and populated so it is too late to change the payment table to allow for a unique downpayment field. They all go in as payments.)

My problem is that if they made more than one payment during the month, the whole line with the customer name and invoice number shows up for each payment made. I only wnat the FIRST payment. I need a payment query that shows only the first payment in the month of invoice issuance.

Does that make sense?

A:SQL Query question for Access 2010 query

Yes it makes sense, I would create a pre-query that uses the Month & Year but is set to "Totals" and Date Minimum.
Then create the Report query using the pre-query linked to the new query's table via the InvoiceID this will limit both the month, year and minimum payment.

A:lsass.exe Access Denied a process has requested access to an object, but has not been granted those access rights

Windows XP has reached end of life 2 years ago... It is an insecure Operating System and should no longer be used especially online.
The Dimension 2400 is weak hardware (Pentium 4 Processor, IDE hard drive, DDR RAM) from 2003! so 13 years old! Its not worthwhile running a modern Operating System on it and below minimum system requirements.

Guys, I am having a real hard time doing a basic REMOTE REGISTRY QUERY using REG.EXE under WindowsXP.
Using reg.exe from (04/20/1998), I know there is a new version (08/04/2004) but I can't seem to get it to work either so I kept using the old one (worked for me in the past).

I need to query the following registry value remotely: HKCU\Software\OP\LP\Update\Synch
(Key=HKCU\Software\OP\LP\Update\, Value=Synch)
For example:
Remote Machine IP = 192.168.0.1
Remote Machine Account = RB
Using a tool (psgetsid.exe) I can determine that the RB account's SID on 192.168.0.1 is: S-1-5-21-757019372-1432366915-1905203885-1000

ECHO APPROACH #2

The OUTPUT of my batch file is as follows:

[Microsoft]
[Netscape]
[ODBC]

APPROACH #2
The specified path is invalid.

As you can see neither approach generated the correct result - all I want to know is the DATA associated with the VALUE "Synch" in the HKCU\Software\OP\LP\Update\Synch
Approach #1 at least gave me a list of the Keys (as you can see OP is there) but this i... Read more

A:REMOTE Reg Query [reg.exe] in batch (.bat) WindowsXP

What you're doing (for the new version) looks fine. I just checked and that is the correct syntax:
reg query \\host\key /v value

However, when I set the value to something I know is *not* present, I get the same error message:
"Error: The system was unable to find th especified registry key or value"

I think somehow you've managed to add a spurious space into %Station% - the error messages seem to indicate this, particularly since it worked correctly, just didn't return the right value, when you enclosed it in quotes.

Since installing Windows 8, I have been having sporadic problems with access denied. Examples follow:

PIMEX is a Personal Information Manager that I have been using through several generations of Windows. When I first converted to Windows 8, this program worked with no problems. Now, however, when I try to open the program, I get the message "PIMEX database could not be opened. Error message: permission denied". If I use the Control Panel to uninstall the program, and then reinstall the program, I am able to open it normally and work with it and use all functions. Once I close the program, however, and try to open it again, I once again get permission denied.

PaperPort is a program that manages scanned images. The program can scan either photos or text documents. If text is selected, the program creates a PDF file that the user names. These scanned files are then stored in PaperPort folders. When I try to display one of these files, PaperPort invokes PDF Viewer Plus (included with the package), and I get the message access denied. If I try to use the Windows 8 Reader to display the file, I get a "Sorry, can't display this file message". Likewise, I cannot display the file using Adobe software.

I have a HP Photosmart Premium printer which also is a scanner. If I use the HP Solution Center to scan a text document, I am able to scan the file without problems, but when I try to Finish and write the file to my hard drive, I have the same permissions problem ... Read more

Try running the programs as administrator or try to change the compatibility settings and run it for a previous known working windows edition. Thanks.

I have a home network of 4 Win 7 computers which I leave running when I'm away from home to provide data to my website, among other things. In the past, I've been using Remote Desktop to access my home computers. It works very well, but it's always a challenge getting everything set up to work right before I go. I was wondering if others who have used Remote Desktop as well as other means of remote access would care to share their experience and express a preference, if any.

Thanks.

I asked a question in another thread wanting to know if there were any good free alternatives to programs PCAnywhere or GoToMyPC. Boy did I ever get more than I expected in TeamViewer that EAFiedler suggested.

Now I have a technical question about how TeamViewer works. It connects to remote systems across the internet not by an IP number that I enter but rather by an arbitrary nine-digit number assigned to the system when the program is set up. It connects so quickly that I know it cannot be scanning every IP address on the 'net looking for a TeamViewer connection at every one of them. So, I have deduced that there must be a server out there somewhere that stores TeamViewer information.

Does anyone know enough about this to confirm this and/or explain it to me somewhat?

Next question: What about security? Are there any security issues I should be concerned about, other than the obvious, of course?

Is there an application (command line perferred) that can query a computer and get its model type and serial number. I know IBM Director can do this, but it requires a running agent on client computer.

A:How to query remote PC to get monitor model/type + serial

You could use PSEXEC from sysinternals to remotely run a command prompt on another computer. The systeminfo command will show you the model number in Windows XP. I am not sure how to get the serial number.

This morning, I heard a nationally syndicated computer expert state that some Chinese hackers were "getting into" Windows based computers through "Remote Access/Remote Desktop" even if the service is turned off. According to the guru, "They will turn it on for you."
Being very concrete, as well as, somewhat dull concerning computers, I find this hard to believe. Could someone, in layman's terms, tell me the circumstances needed that would allow a hacker to take control of someone's system when a necessary service is turned off ??

When accessing my PC (or at least attempting to) from a remote Computer using Remote Desktop, I think I have to add something after the IP Address when typing in the Computer Name/IP Address. I have RD working successfully within my Network. Can someone clarify what I need to do here to access my PC through the Internet then Network

I'm allowing the user to choose the key from Select combo - my bound column is the key.
I want a second section of the form to go and fetch ALL occurances from another table that has the key from my first step as part of the combined key.
I've tried a subform/subreport (which I felt would be the ideal - I only want to display)
But nothing comes up.
I've also tried to use a combo box and populate it with a requery, but no luck there either. So now I've decided that my error is in the query I use for the combo box
SELECT Tenders.[TENDER NO], Tenders.TENDERDESCRIPTION, Resolutions.[RESOLUTION NO], Resolutions.[MEETING DATE], Resolutions.RECOMMENDATION, Resolutions.[TENDER VALUE]
FROM Resolutions INNER JOIN Tenders ON Resolutions.[Tender No] = Tenders.[tender no]
WHERE Tenders.[tender no] = Forms![2nd Copy of Find Tender Number and Resolutions]!Combo25
ORDER BY tenders.[tenderdescription], resolutions.[resolution no], resolutions.[meeting date];
I want tender no to be the bound column in combo25 (in vb I'd put combo25.column(0)
How do I put that in a query?

I have a windows server 2008 and I want to install Remote Access/VPN role on it. Unfortunately there is confilict between Remote Desktop and VPN Server role in Windows Server and when enable VPN Server role, Remote Desktop is disabled and vice versa unless you have 2 NICs and enable each on separate NIC.

Do you know a way to keep both enabled and functional on the same NIC.

Any help is appreciated.

Good morning,I have a system that has had numerous issues, mainly virus related. I have cleaned the system, and show no virus activity... but I'm still having issues.Late last week the system was stuck in a loop, it wouldn't boot to Windows at all (no safe mode, no normal mode). I resorted to a Windows repair from the install disk. It worked... to a certain degree. I am now able to get into Windows, but can not open IE and I can not install a display driver.I am unable to access Windows Update, but was able to set automatic updates to install lots of updates including SP3, but I am still unable to make any changes.Initially when I attempted to open IE I would get a window saying that IE had to close instantly. I attempted to reinstall IE, and I attempted to install a newer version of IE. Neither worked. If I chose to install the updates with the install I would get an access denied error, if I chose not to install the updates with the install it would look like it worked, but now when I click on IE I get "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetcpl.cpl. The operating system cannot run %1"In device manager, I have no drivers installed on my display adapter. If I try to update it, it looks like it's going to install... but then I get "Cannot install the hardware. Access is Denied".Any assistance or insight into this would be appreciated.

A:Unable to access IE, access denied when updating display drivers, no windows update

On any system with a number of issues...it's often better to do a clean install to wipe the slate clean, rather than hope that you have patched all known and unknown issues, IMO.

So today I was working on my computer, my norton antivirus expired and so I bought a new one. Well it wouldn't renew my subscription so I read on a website that you need to clear norton out of your registry. So I followed the directions and ever since I did that when I open a webpage it goes to a screen that says:

ERROR

The requested URL could not be retrieved
-----------------------------------------------

The following error was encountered:

- Cache Access Denied

Access control configuration prevents this request.

On top of that I get a similar message when I try to run live update. I have the computer hooked up to a linksys router with high speed internet. Please help.

Mike

A:Messed up computer and cannot access internet, page says cache access denied

Hmm, that's a good one. Try reinstalling IE or Firefox, whatever internet software you use. You might have inadvertently deleted an application cache file which the application needs.

Only other thing to do is boot into safe mode and select last know good boot.

I have kinda setup a network with my computer and a laptop which has just been formatted. It now has XP service pack 2 installed and I have to enter the password and username of an account on the laptop in order to access the resources.
Now I can access the laptop using my computer, when the laptop tries to access my computer, and tries to get a file, the message on the title always comes up.

I have unchecked simple file sharing and enabled full access (read/write) on the laptop whose account Im using. But it didnt work.

When opening my computer today, I have noticed a message about migration and program controls and some information about windows NT and windows 3.x This has never popped up and am wondering if this has made any changes to my computer not the laptop.

So Is there a simple way that does not restrict the laptop from getting the resources on my computer??

I have Windows XP and have been getting tons of junk mail. I ran Avast, malware bytes &spybot. Nothing found. So I started looking through the Dell help on my computer. I'm not as savvy as I'd like to be and while trying to fix the issue myself I did something that I shouldn't have. First, I tried to go back to a later date but it wouldn't let me no mater which date I tried. Then,I followed a suggestion regarding the registries. HUGE mistake! Now my computer is stuck in a boot loop. I obviously need to repopulate my hives but have no idea how. When the computer starts the Windows XP logo pops up. Then a box appears saying leads.exe access denied. Process has requested access to an object, but has not been granted those access rights. When I click OK the DELL LOGO comes up & then the process repeats itself. I can't start in safe mode, Can't start in last known good configuration. So, I tried ordering some disks that I thought may be able to help while I've been reading through threads for information. I don't have any of the original software for this cop, I purchased it used a few years ago. But, I purchased a Knoppix 7.6.1., system rescue from same CO, & 2 CDs off eBay Windows XP 64 bit & 32 bit. Don't know how to use any of them though. Please help!

blue gravity,

Please confirm that the command that is attempting to execute is the following:

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
This command is trying to enable task manager but the command prompt that is trying to enable task manager does not have the permissions to do that.

Please try the following:

Click Start
Type cmd
Right click cmd.exe
Select Run as administrator
type "REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f"
Press enter
Close cmd.exe
Log out
Log in
Try to open task manager

If this does not work, or you believe your computer might be infected, please follow the instructions found at Am I Infected, as I am not authorized to assist with the removal of malware.

Thank you,

A:Denied Access To Set Program Access And Defaults By Rundll32.exe

Hi and welcome.rundll32.exe is a process which executes DLL's and places their libraries into the memory, so they can be used more efficiently by applications. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.Note: rundll32.exe is a process registered as a backdoor vulnerability which may be installed for malicious purposes by an attacker allowing access to your computer from remote locations, stealing passwords, Internet banking and personal data. This process is a security risk and should be removed from your system. This is strange, this might be a malware or it might just be some promblem with the rundll32.exeI would run a scan and see what the scanners find. DON'T remove rundll32.exe, because it is most likely a legitimate file.Regards,ExtremeboyGreat that you figured it out. Can you tell us how you fixed the promblem?
