I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I attempted to install the new Y520 BIOS release in hopes of addressing recurrent wake-from-sleep issues. The "System Update" function in Lenovo Vantage shows "BIOS update - 10 [64] V.4KCN41WW" but will not install it. The resulting message is "Failed installed on 1/25/2018 at 6:40 PM".

So it's not a huge problem, but after updating the BIOS on my T480 from V1.17 to the current release V1.24 the Lenovo Vantage tool still reports (on lower right corner of screen) that I have BIOS V1.17 installed. The update installed normally and I have verified that V1.24 is installed Boot --> F1 --> reviewed installed version. I thought you guys at Lenovo might want to check it out. I do have the current version of Vantage installed (latest version offered by the Microsoft Store for Win 10 Pro): V 4.27.32.0

A:Lenovo Vantage reports incorrect BIOS version after BIOS update

See below.  Basically Vantage "may not"  show current BIOS version.  It will eventually "catch up".  The data is cached.

I purchased this used X250 (Product Number 20CMOOE5US) last week with Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit Edition. I downloaded and installed Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store which is built-in in the Windows 10. The Lenovo System Update utility updated several components but failed with a BIOS update. The current BIOS version listed at the bottom of the Lenovo Vantage window is N10ET21W 0.21. I tried the stand-alone BIOS update version 1.27 downloaded from https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds102288, which also failed in the same way: the error message reads "OEM check failed from BIOS service. The utility process has not completed." I also noticed this weired label in the System Information for the processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5### CPU @ 2.2GHz 2.19GHz. I guess a BIOS update would correct the processor info. But then how do I get BIOS updated? Please advise.

Hello,I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W540 which is out of warranty.  While using the Lenovo System Update utility to update the BIOS, the BIOS update failed, and now my W540 will no longer boot.  Is there a way to restore the BIOS without replacing the system board? Is there a place where can I download the BIOS file (not only the upgrade utility)? Thank you!

Hi everyone,I've got a Lenovo Legion laptop with a year old BIOS. I need to update it however on the website with the driviers the BIOS update is missing and I can't find it anywhere else. My PC is having serious issues with performance in games and after contacting Nvidia I was told to update my BIOS first. I need this update as fast as possible because I basically can't use the laptop without it. Also I can't contact any sort of support or chat because my product is apparently "not supported" and no one has replied to my emails a week now. Thanks in advance!

On the X1 Extreme with the latest 1.17 Bios you can set it to run in Discrete graphics only mode instead of hybrid with the Intel. (You technically could prior to this bios, but it had issues that could brick the unit). Problem is if you do a frwsh install, Vantage will always show the same "Nvidia And Intel Drivers" package as available, if I had to guess because there is no Intel and it checks for that. The driver says "Installed Version:Not Available" which makes me thing there is a detection issue. The first install works fine, but it will always show up as an avalible update untill you hide it. Installing it again and again does nothing. And you can then open the Geforce experience software and it will then update to the true latest version, but Vantage will still show it as available after and if I had to guess would break something if it installed over a newer version. On a test fresh install, changing it to Hybrid and installing then changing back seems to work, but if you start out as discrete, it always shows that already installed update untill you ignore it (so this likley wouldnt of shown up in their testing as their systems were likley hybrid origonally).  Just a heads up to anyone and hopfully someone who can address this sees it. Also if anyone knows a better place to just simply report bugs like this in a way where it can actually get past level 1 tech support and submitted to someone who can address these issues id love to know it.

In this first screenshot of Lenovo Vantage running under Windows 10 (64) on my X1 Yoga (1st generation), please notice where it says that I need to install Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105.  However, in the second screenshot, please notice where the Installation History shows that Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 was successfully installed already. Everytime I boot up and run Lenovo Vantage to check for updates, it tells me that I need Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 so I let it install it. Everytime I install it, the installation appears to be successful and my computer reboots, but then after rebooting, Lenovo Vantage again tells me that (1) I need it, (2) I already have it. This is crazy.  In the third screenshot (looking at Windows Device Manager) I see the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. The fourth screenshot shows that it is disabled.  I will enable this and then retry to install the updated. I'll report back in a second posting on this thread whehter it works.  (I would leave this posting open and finish it later, but I'm afraid it woud all be lost when I reboot).

A:ENDLESS LOOP: Lenovo Vantage Tells Me To Update a Driver That Vantage Says Is Already Up to Date.

After enabling the driver in Windows Device Manager, then again trying to update, the update was successful. After another reboot, Lenovo Vantage no longer show that this needs to be updated.  I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the Lenovo Vantage update program ought to be able to see whether a driver is disabled and to tell the user to enable it in order to allow successful of updating of the driver. I updated the BIOS yesterday and after using it today, i realised that the laptop was heating up, even though i wasn't playing any games. Just watching some videos on youtube using Microsoft Edge. The bottom side of the laptop, the one below the keyboard, felt hotter than usual. Same for the part right above the fan, one where the power button is. Never had an issue before the update as it never used to get hot enough for me to feel it unless I was playing a heavy game. It only gets better if I use the extreme cooling feature, but that shouldn't be the case for regular browsing. Could this BIOS update be the reason for my laptop heating up? Please help.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me, I want to upgrade the BIOS of the L560 from 1.18 to 1.43. Each time I try this, it boots into the bios system, I select bios update and follow the steps until the screen says that it will reboot, but it never does. (see screenshot) Frozen at this screenAfter hours of waiting, trying to long press (20 sec) the power button shuts down the computer. Afterwards the computer boots but displays "Secure Flash Authentication failed!"After forced rebootAfter that I have to long press (20 sec) the power button again to restart the computer and it boots back into the 1.18 (I have also tried to update to version 1.22 or 1.17 (downgrade), with the same results)And also tried to "upgrade" to the same version 1.18 as well, which doesn't work because the system says that there is no new version. Do you have any tips how to upgrade the BIOS on the L560? Kind RegardsOlaf

A:D630: Bios firmware update fails to install

It's more likely you're going to need to build a bootable flash drive with an earlier version of Windows to get the flash to work -- Windows 10 is not supported on this model, so it's very likely the flash installer won't run under 10 regardless of which version you're trying to flash.
Rufus is one easy way to make a bootable flash drive that will allow the flash to work.

After that when I lauch it, it displays the message "Completing the Lenovo Vantage Gaming Feature Driver Setup Wizard". After this when I press Ok nothing happens. This is really annoying as there is no other option to download it. Even the Microsoft store is providing the Lenovo Vantage Enterprise version. Please help me and thank you in advance.

I have just received my C340 and activated Lenovo Vantage which found a BIOS update which I ran. It is now running BIOS version 1.6. BUt when I go onto the Lenovo Support page and it automatically and correctly registers my C340, I am informed of a newer version of the BIOS update (2.02). I do not get it. Why is there a newer version here than the version that Lenovo Vantage finds? And what I am supposed to do in a situation like this? Do I ignore that there is a newer version - or do I actually download it and install it? I would like an answer from a Lenovo representative to this issue. Unfortunately, this is not a very good start with this new Lenovo C340 notebook. When I logged in to the support page by Lenovo and it registered the notebook automatically, it also told me that the warranty ran out in 1970. What???! So now I have put in a case for having them correct this. But this is really not a good start

A:Ideapad C340 - just updated BIOS via Lenovo Vantage but a new version available on support page

Hi BlipBlopDK,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Each machine models have different variants. Not all updates can be applicable for every variants.

With the BIOS, reading the text file first is important doing it manually. If the changes from the older version applies to specific issue you have then you may proceed but if Vantage did not assign it automatically and you do not have any issues then there may not be any need for it.

My warranty is showing incorrect dates and duration? Why is this happening ?
If you had purchased your machine from a retailer, business partner, reseller, Lenovo starts the Base Warranty at the time the shipment was purchased by the retailer, business partner, or reseller from Lenovo. To compensate for the time the computer may have sat in a warehouse or on the shelf unsold, Lenovo generally adds an additional month to the Base Warranty, Lenovo allows date to be adjusted.

Here is the article that you can follow for the steps.

About the warranty date correction, some stores would do it for you while other may not since buyer may have a different user for it aside from the fact that personal information should be kept privately.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Hello, This functionality has never worked, even when new.  Lenovo Vantage tells me my S/N is invalid and then gives me a different BIOS value every time I run the program.  I suspect this is why the Update functionality doesn't detect anything new for my device (I can see newer drivers on the website).  Also, the auto-detect on the website does not work either.  The Automatic Driver Update scan fails (An error occurred while downloading packages.).  There's another place on the site that lets me try something, I forget where.  That didn't work either because it couldn't recognize my device. Is there anything I can do to get this functionality to work?  I don't want to factory reset the device just to try this, especially since it never worked before.  Worst case is that I'll manually apply the drivers--and there probably won't be any more new ones going forward--but that's annoying. Thanks

Not sure if I'm using the right term but while either of these programs are checking for updates, cursor focus is contanstly being pulled to either the app itself or the numerous background processes it seems to be opening. Seems minor but this means you literally can't multitask or do anything requiring typing while checking for updates, because your cursor is constantly being moved out of whatever you're trying to do.  This is especially a problem because of how long the scans take to run.Few addl questions: - Are these two apps doing the same thing, and if so, why are there two of them?  Just noticed the 'System Update' one today, Vantage I have had since purchase - Why are there numerous 'Setup' popups being generated in the background while these programs scan? (see photo attached). If you Alt-Tab during the process, you can see many exe / software shell things opening and closing (is this what pulls focus away?).  - Is there anyway to fix these programs so they run truly in the background?  Can't imagine it's a big ask to clean these up a bit. Thanks!

My keyboard backlight doesn't go on and off automatically anymore depending on how light or how dark it is.  I have discovered this happens since i "upgraded" Lenove Settings to Lenove Vantage. I never gave it much thought because it worked always. Now that it is somehow gone i am experiencing how highly inconvenient this is in my work flow.  There isn't even an option anymore in Lenovo Vantage to enable automatic backlight... Why? I have never heard of 'upgrades' that actually demote an important every day function, and add an inconvenient annoyance.   Please tell me i am missing something, otherwise there is no excuse for this horrible 'upgrade'. So, earlier today, everything was fine. My computer was working normally nothing was acting up. While unplugging my laptop from the wall I dropped it, but nothing appeared to be wrong. A little while later I restarted my computer and it worked fine for about a minute and then everything froze in windows explorer, nothing would work, folders wont open task manager never appears start menu wont come up, nothing.
I booted into safe mode and everything works fine through there, so I looked around online and one suggestion was to update my BIOS so I tried to update from Dells Inspiron 1420 A08 to the newer A10 BIOS version, trying that in safe mode failed so I tried to boot normally and quickly do whatever it told me, when I tried it wouldnt restart (and still refuses too, I have to shut it down manually outside of safe mode) it said it couldnt update the BIOS version because it couldnt locate the image, but I downloaded it directly from Dells own website.
So then I tried to do a system restore, and I got the message:

The disk Vista (c:) has errors
Windows detected file system corruption on Vista (c:)
You must check the disk for errors before it can be restored.

So I clicked scan and fix, and nothing happens. (this is back in safe mode by the way) so I opened a command promp and typed sfc /scannow
and it scanned and found some errors but were unable to fix them. Details are located in the CBS.log
So I opened the log and I found the following:

Hi, the first rule if you ever drop a laptop (and it appears OK) is to take the battery out, boot from the mains if all is OK turn off add battery and reboot. Now you may have damaged the MB and or the RAM seating or HDD cable connection as well as the monitor connect cable.. etc ...etc. You can see where this is heading to the shop would be my advice.

Hi, I recently was prompted to do an optional update to the touchpad driver via Lenovo vantage. Since then the custom settings for the touchpad have reverted to the generic windows mouse settings. There used to be options to turn off taps, gestures etc. I have set the touchpad to low sensitivity for taps but it's still too sensitive when using the touchpad and it often clicks on things I don't want it to. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled based on my serial number and still the same. I'd have thought this is how it is but knowing that I used to be able to turn things off like taps, then this is why I am trying to find a solution. So far haven't had much luck with support via Live chat with Lenovo or via email. Can someone help? I need taps turned off and want to be able to access those settings like just recently.
