M3 metric isolation mounting guide screws

Q: M3 metric isolation mounting guide screws

I need to mount a 500 GB 2.5" hard drive in a HP Prodesk 600 G1 SFF and I do not have any additional M3 metric isolation mounting guide screws. The service manual states that these can be ordered fro HP. Does anyone know where on HP's site these can be found?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm looking for some extra motherboard mounting screws. I seem to have lost 5 over the course of one year and need some replacements. Anyone know a retailer that sells these things online or an actual store that would carry them? I usually use Newegg but they didn't have any.

The only computer retailer near me is Staples mind you.

I am currently trying to find the correct mounting screws to install a second hard drive.  I was reading online about the different screw-types. I saw that the two most popular are 6-32 & M3. I just don't know how to find out which screw is correct. Also, I see some unfamiliar screw heads in the case, other than Flathead or Philips. What type of tool do I need to screw/unscrew these? All help is appreciated. I just bought a new hard drive, and I am very excited to install the hard drive! Thanks.

Working on an unrelated problem, I noticed that last year, my trusty PC tech mounted a new SSD using a screw on the left _and_ right side of the drive bay.
If I need to remove this drive later on, how on Earth do I access the screws on the right side? Thanks.
Edit: Turns out the SSD was screwed to its caddy on the right side, but the caddy wasn't screwed to the right side of the PC's drive bay, only the left. Nevermind. (@SpeedStep, thanks for the reply.)

A:XPS 9100: how to access right-side drive bay mounting screws?

You don't  for the upper bays they are shoulder screws.  You remove the bezel then press slider down and slide the drive out.  For the drive cage it also has slots for shoulder screws.

I have a Pavilion a1620e tower PC.  I have two open slots for drives that I want to use, but it uses special screws for the hard drive carriage.  I have no spares, and I am having a lot of trouble sourcing these things.  Any ideas?

Which two open slots do you have and what kind of special screws are these??? My a1632x has the same case as your a1620e and i have never needed any special screws to install more hard drives. Please review the picture of the inside of my case below;   If it is like yours, all you need to do is use regular old standard HDD mounting screws with the exception of the one screw where the green locking tab is. Use the HP factory "square shouldered" screw where the green locking tab is, to secure HDD unit in place. Frank

Lately, I've noticed all of my applications (Word, Photoshop, etc.) use the metric system of measurement. I'm not sure why this started, but I'd like it to go back to the imperial system. Do you know how I can change this default setting? Thanks!

A:Metric system!

I don't know about Photoshop, but in Word you can go to

Tools -> Options -> General tab and check that the measurement units are in inches

Entering "measurement" in Windows Help gained this information:

To change the way your computer displays numbers
Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
On the Regional Options tab, under Standards and formats, click Customize.
On the Numbers tab, specify any changes you want to make.
Among items you can change are the decimal symbol and list separator, the format used for negative numbers and leading zeros, and the measurement system (U.S. or metric).

To open Regional and Language Options, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options.

How to Create Your Own XP System Restore Disk Guide + dual boot guide.

This guide is for XP users with home built systems. It may also work for others, but I have not tested it on any brand name systems.

Everybody knows that there is nothing sweeter then a fresh installation of XP. Your computer starts and runs faster. It almost never freezes up and crashes. Everybody also knows that as time goes by; your computer starts to slow to a crawl. You run the gambit of system utilities (defrag, registry cleaner, garbage cleaner etc), but your system never runs like it did when you first installed XP, and deep down you know that it never will until you do a complete reformat and reinstall of XP. So what is holding you back? Well, you also know that it will take a lot of time to reformat, reinstall windows, reinstall all of your favorite programs, and download the truck load of updates that have occurred since you first bought your system and your programs. And let?s not forget about your system drivers. Now if you bought a brand name system, it most likely came with a set of restore disk or a restore partition on your hard drive. Or it may have a program that asked you to create the restore disk when you first started it up. In any case, you may already have your restore capabilities if you have a brand name system. But even then doing a system restore would only take you back to the original OEM created system. I personally hate brand name computers because of... Read more

How to Create Your Own XP System Restore Disk Guide + dual boot guide. Part 2

One additional note I want to add before finishing this guide, is that if you plan to use this to dual boot, there are some additional steps you have to take to get it to dual boot. Since, when you do the restore as a dual boot option, you are not running the installation process, windows will not modify the boot.ini file to add the new XP installation as a boot option at start up. With out this, you will not be able to boot from the new XP system. In order to modify the boot.ini file you will need to go through several steps. I will give you two ways to do this below. The first one is the best and safest way to do it, the other is faster but there is some risk involved.

Option 1: This option uses the Windows Recovery Console. The simplest way to start the recovery console is to pop your XP CD into your CD drive and restart your computer. In most case you system should come with a black screen after the post process and say ?PPRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD ?.. You really need to pay close attention during the restart process to catch this screen as it only stays up for a few seconds. Of course you need to press a key, any key on your key board while this screen is up. If you don?t see this screen you need to do one of several things. Depending on your motherboard brand it may be a simple as press one of you F keys during the post process to bring up the boot menu screen, where... Read more

It would automatically do a scan without prompting me (lasting less than 10 seconds) and then I continue with the instructions in the guide: I unchecked 'Sections', 'IAT/EAT', Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive, which is typically C:\, and 'Show All'.When I clicked "scan" the program just froze on me. I waited for about 5 minutes to see if it was just a lag but then I noticed the clock on the bottom of my computer screen also froze. I had to force the computer to shutdown by holding the power button. I tried GMER again about 2 more times and it froze both times the moment I clicked "scan". Then on the 3rd and 4th try, it scanned but I walked away for about half an hour and when I returned, it appeared to have self terminated. Then my final attempt. The scan finished and I clicked the "save..." button and the program froze on me and again, the clock on my desktop has froze again and I was not able to save the scan report. Is there an alternative program I can use rather than GMER?Thanks

I'm looking for an solution for an random issue on my clients computers (Windows 7 or 10).
They connected to an business vpn with Juniper network connect.
As usual, to be sure the computer use the vpn network to make dns reolution etc... the virtual network card created by juniper is using metric 1 to have the top priority.
That's working well since 1 or 2 years.
For an unknown reason When they connect to the vpn some computers keep the internet gateway instead of using the one provided by juniper vpn...
The solution we've found is to edit the juniper metric from 1 to 2 and after ipconfig /flushdns the route table is using the vpn gateway..the pb is, juniper create an virtual card each connections, so it is deleted when the users disconnect his vpn session.
I don't know why but the computers seems not update the route table when connecting to vpn..
We tried :
 - changing from ethernet to wireless or 3G/4G internet source
 - change the network card order in advanced parameters from the networking center..
 - route -f is not workingg

Do you have any idea..?

I am thinking about setting him up a PPPOE server and attaching it to the Active Directory, does anyone else have any ideas as that will be alot of messing about setting up PPPOE on all there machines!

Hey guys,
I am using a 3G modem (Virgin Mobile MC760). In short; I have 2 connections; 1 is wired ethernet and the other is this 3G modem. I want to be able to use the 3G modem in a guest Vmware system while still using my regular ethernet for everything else in the host. I have read up on metric values but heres the problem. I set the ethernet for a metric value of 1 and the 3g connection as 9999, ethernet alone works fine, as soon as I connect the 3g modem it takes priority and changes my metric value of the ethernet higher and creates a default gateway, when my ethernet is The only way around this is if I disconnect my ethernet and reconnect it, it will then take priority and have both be connected and use ethernet.

Is there any solution to this?

I looked forward to opening 'publisher' for the first time to see if I could produce an item to fit into a magazine/newspaper. I made my initial box-size and then discovered that IT'S ALL IN IMPERIAL! Considering that most of the people in the world use Metric and don't mess up our engineering and space stations by making stuff in imperial, why would Microsoft imagine that imperial works here. We went Metric in '71... Put it in Metric and let the yanks find the box marked 'Imperial'...
Anyhoo, I'm looking for the box to tick to choose to have the scales in Metric please, as I can't find it simply. Please may someone tell me...?

A:Changing scales to metric? (Publisher, PPT, etc...)

The horizontal and vertical rulers in Microsoft Publisher 2007 can be changed to display a different type of measurement unit. By default, the rulers in Publisher display inches, but you can change them to a variety of other measurement units.
For microsoft Publisher 2007.

1 Once you're in your document, choose the "Tools" menu, and click "Options" to open the "Options" dialog box.2 Select the "General" tab at the top of the "Options" dialog box, if necessary, to display the basic settings for Microsoft Publisher.3 Click the arrow to display the "Measurement units" drop-down list from the "Options" dialog box. These are the different types of measurements you can display on the Publisher rulers. Choose the measurement you want from choices that include inches, centimeters, picas, points or pixels.4 Click the "OK" button to close the "Options" dialog box and return to your Publisher document. Your rulers will display with the measurement you picked. Use the same process to switch back to the original measurement or to choose a new unit of measurement.

I have had windows 7 for a few weeks and every time the PC is rebooted the Metric for both the Lan (172.17) and Wifi(192.169)goes back to 20, the Lan is set to Automatic and the wifi is set to 10, has anybody seen this problem before?

Active Routes:
Network Destination Netmask Gateway Interface Metric 20 20

A:problem with windows 7 not using correct metric

Sounds quite bizzare, Windows assigns a lower metric to the gateway it can communicate the fastest with, but in this case both have been assigned 20.
If you've manually assigned a gateway and metric you should see that in the list of persistent routes.

I wonder if your issue is similar to that in http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/47280-how-configure-multiple-gateways.html

I'm stumped and have emailed MS as it works as expected in Win XP

Like several other posts on this forum my PC too just died yesterday. I had left it running for a few hours. Came back. Winodws (XP Professional) was hung, the red HDD LED was on. ctrl-alt-delete did not work so I held down the power button for 10 sec to force a reboot. On reboot, I got no beeps, no bios screen, it just sat there with the cpu fan going.

Following the advice I've seen here: I have replaced the CMOS battery, reset the BIOS, removed all cards, hdd, 1 of the 2 memory sticks, plugged the monitor into the video integrated into the motherboard. No improvement: on power up cpu fan spins but nothing else.

So if I've learned anything from reading the fourm, it seems that the problem is either power supply, motherboard or the cpu. I don't have a spare sysytem or components that I can swap around to isolate things. So, the question is: is there a way to test these components as they are to verify which one is defective one? Or do I move up the food chain from cheapest to the most expensive replacing each one until things work? If I were to replace my motherboard, any recommendations. I would like to keep my cpu (intel 478 socket), memory (pc3200) and my agp graphics card. I've seen post which indicate there are motherboards out there with leds that indicate health of the motherboard. Don't think my motherboard has those. Those would have been nice to have right now.

Primary purpose being to enable internet access to the "flatties"
Secondary purpose is to enable streaming of "non copy-righted" video content from a "Media Server" to a TViX 6500 media player located in the lounge.

A:Network Isolation Needed

If you want total isolation between the two networks, and both of them to share the common Internet connection, the easiest way is with three SOHO routers.

Connect one router directly to the ISP modem, connect the two routers for the two isolated networks to this router and connect their LAN ports to the respective separate networks.

This provides total isolation between the two networks.
Obviously, this can also be done with an enterprise class router, but it will cost more to go that way as a rule. This method is simple and pretty cheap.

My son is of an age where he wants to use the computer but I don?t really want to just let him loose on the main PC as there?s lots of data on there that I don?t want him to mess with.

So this is my cunning plan. The machine has a spare drive and I intend to make the PC dual boot so that he can effectively have a new machine all to himself. Here?s the catch, I want to hide the other drives so that a) he can?t see, update, delete any of the data and b) if he ends up getting a virus or malware I?m safe in knowing my data is inaccessible.

I know I can hide the drives by removing their drive letter and have also toyed with setting the drives as offline in Disk Manager ? question is will this give me the complete separation I want or would anything nasty be able to get access to my precious stuff?

I will off cause be running suitable AV and Firewall in the new instance and have everything super important backed up a number of times elsewhere?.

Thanks in advance for any help

Instead of dual-booting, which is a dead technology in my eyes, why not just set him up with a limited user account. Then you can keep him from being able to do certain things or access certain areas of the drives.

Hey, Im so fed up of this problem now.... On my HP Specte x360 13-4108na (6th Gen i7), the process "Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation" constantly runs in the background using 10-15% CPU usage. This happens even when there is no sound being produced. Worst still, the constant CPU heats up the laptop quickly and waste tremendous amounts of battery.  I have already tried google for solutions - I have tried uninstalling and deleting the sound drivers from Device Manager, then reinstalling the latest drivers from the HP support website. This fixes the problem for a few days, but sooner or later the process is back, eating up CPU usage.I have noticed it comes back after watching videos for a short whilehowtogeek.com suggests that the problem is caused by poorly coded drivers! This is the first time i have had a computer with Conexant Audio HD, previously I always used Realtek, Im starting to regret my purchase. Why can't HP release non-buggy drivers! What should I do? please help, thanks Adam

Is it just me or are the Zyxel adminsitration panels over complicated?
I find this brand diffilcult very to fathom, unfortunately it was recommended by our support firm...anyway, i digress.

I have two SSID set up on this unit, the main network and a guest network; each assigned to radio 1 and radio 2 respectively and both assigned their own security profiles.

Does anyone know where i can enable client isolation for the guest network so that it can only be used for internet access (even throttled, if possible)?

I'm using the latest firmware version for this unit, but it is quite new so i'm struggling to find any Dummies guides that'll show me how to do this.

I'm looking for a solution that can isolate tracks from a song into their respective parts. For example, extract the drum track or bass track and export them to .mp3 or .wav files.

I've searched and searched and I've come up with nothing that seems to be what I'm looking for...so input from someone that's used something would prove most valuable.

A:Looking For Software For Isolation Of Music Tracks

It's like unbaking a cake. You cannot seperate the components once they've been combined. There is software that, thru various comb filters can remove a vocal track - karioke-ize the song. But there is no commercial or commonly availble software that can seperate a recorded song into its component tracks. All you can do is isolate frequencies. And instruments, or tracks if you will, produce a variety of frequencies. But it's the combining of the various frequencies that create the song. And once combined, cannot be uncombined.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and hope to solve my problem with some expert guidance.

All the other apps like chrome, pdf, etc are running without any problem, as this problem arose after their installation.

Also, please tell me why this app runs in guest account only if I select "Run as administrator". Other standard accounts are fine. Thanks!

The company I work for has recently gotten a new Internet connection at their farm across the street. Originally the time clock was placed there and monitored over the LAN on the computer that I am at right now. Now that there is a new connection I need to know how to connect the time clock on the other internet connection to this PC. Networking has never been my strong suit. any help would be appreciated!

P.S. The time Clock is an anviz EP300 and the PC is running windows 8.1

A:Solved: Connect Bio-metric time clock to another network?

Hi Bumbers, and welcome to TSG.

Does the new connection at the other building have at least one static public IP address? If not, things may get a bit more complicated.

Beyond that, you will need to set up whatever modems and routers are being used across the street to port forward from the Internet public IP address to the private IP address of the time clock on the LAN. Having the time clock use a static IP address on the LAN, rather than get its IP address via DHCP would also simplify things.

It appeared to me that only registered users on the Anviz web site can download product manuals. I have no idea if or how the time clock can be properly configured to use a static IP address, the port numbers used, or the type of security it offers. Once you have port forwarding configured, the time clock will be exposed to attacks from the Internet.

After you have everything configured at the other location, you should be able to use the public IP address of the other location to access the clock from your location.

Living in France you cannot avoid a French keyboard, they're everywhere. So I learned using the azerty, but stuck to English.

This is of course beyond the people designing Windows.

So how can I have Windows 8 speaking English, but using French options for the rest (?, keyboard, date format, metric)?

And of course, ALSO WITH METRO please. It seems independent of the "real" OS.

Thanks in advance

A:French Keyboard, , metric and date with English speak W8

A lot of these changes can be made through the Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region
If it affects Metro, I do not know.

Mobile spyware has become increasingly more ubiquitous in corporate networks and devices. In a 2017 study, Check Point has found that out of the 850 organizations that they queried, 100% had experienced a mobile malware attack at least once in the past.

To date, most cybersecurity companies have focused either on software-only or built-in hardware solutions as a way of fighting back against these threats. While some of these solutions have proven to be effective, I want to propose that the next generation of mobile security will be primarily based on hardware rather than software solutions.

In the following article, I will go over the kinds of advantages that hybrid hardware isolation can have for combatting smartphone attacks and vulnerabilities. If you create a low-power, highly flexible, hardware-isolated computational and storage container that isolates data inside the host architecture, you can secure data and processes independently of the host?s operating system or networking protocol and make them virtually impervious to attack; an innovation that will change cybersecurity as we know it today.

Identifying existing security threats
In a Frost & Sullivan security analysis, Frank Dickson points to the key problem of identifying mobile threats: ?Identifying a true threat can be difficult when malicious apps blur the lines between useful features and excessive or exploitative functionality.? Indeed, as more and more applications rely on collecting users? beh... Read more

I have been to the section of Win7 personalization where metrics are stored for text display.

If you look at the window options section for borders and such, and select a metric in ("Change Windows colors and metrics" will get you there in the search box) -- everything seems to be in there except the area called window text. Window text is in the illustrated screen area. I can make a screen shot if necessary.

Going to the selections that default at an item called Desktop then right click to open, Window text is not there. An Item called Window (single word) is.

The goal is to have my files and folders show larger in -- Explorer I guess-- and in the network file folders I have in an old style workgroup set up for the home.

I have tried all of the options at the metrics screen but have failed to get a simple folders and files list to display in a larger font.

I have a question that I can't find the answer for, I've been searching like crazy but keep finding the same responses which have in my case proven useless.
The situation is this: I have one router and one computer, the computer has two network interface cards which are both connected to the router and given IP addresses. I have made the metrics in Windows such that normal traffic SHOULD always choose NIC 1 and I have in the application "Tixati" set it manually to use NIC 2. I have then set my firewall to only allow the application "Tixati" to use NIC 2 while blocking it from using NIC 1. So in theory everything on my computer should use NIC 1 except "Tixati" which should use NIC 2.
The problem: The issue is that for some reason Windows will sometimes think it's a good idea to just straight up switch over to using NIC 2 for ALL traffic, even though it has a waaaay higher metric (static permanent routes) and the firewall is blocking access for the applications on that interface, which results in the applications being straight up blocked. This is temporarily solved by disabling and enabling NIC 1... Until it happens again.
The cause: I just straight up don't know, I do however think it has something to do with Windows probably trying to use a different NIC at the slightest hint of an issue with the main NIC, it often happens during web browsing and I even found one specific website that seemingly caused this issue every time I reloaded... My CPU usage is always at 50% or more. I openned task manager to see which process is using up my CPU and nothing boldly stands out byt Kaspersky and Windows Audio Graph Isolation. The two consume around 10-20% of the CPU and I fixed the Kaspersky related high usage, it has dropped now to 40% or much more. The fans are going like crazy constantly since booting into windows and they do not calm down, I figured it would be a simple malfunction but the laptop is actually heating up very fast. Please help and/or request any extra information if needed. Also I should mention:My motherboard was changed around a month ago and windows has been upgraded around 2 weeks ago. All drivers and driver updates are installed through HP support assistant and windows update is enabled and functioning normally. Another error but probably unrelated: Kaspersky security is turning off on its own. I say this because I suspect Malware but have not found anything, I tried running full scans through safe mode and found nothing.
