May I upgrade my graphics card?

Q: May I upgrade my graphics card?

Two of the main reasons I wanted a High end hardware PC is for gaming and music production. With gaming there is a small issue, I noticed that my graphics card is really not that powerful and have to constantly run on minimum graphics in the games's settings. Hardware Information:Processor- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.90 GHzRAM- 12.0GB (11.9 GB useable)Graphics- Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 (1.00GB adapter RAM) Since this a newer laptop im sure I can upgrade the graphics driver, also if I can upgrade, ive been looking into nvidia GeForce drivers. Which one would fit in to the laptop, or if there is a specific type of graphics driver I must use for this laptop. Thank You for your time.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: May I upgrade my graphics card?

Hi, It is a CTO (Configure To Order) machine therefore I can't find its real specs but from your information it only has Graphics- Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 (1.00GB adapter RAM) therefore the short answer is no you can't upgrade its video card. Actually it does not video card to upgrade because Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 is integrated to the CPU and motherboard. Regards.

Hi everyone....

Current PC specs listed above ..... to get it out of the way I am a gamer......

This upgrade is to allow me to play some of the newer games such as The Witcher and also to enable me to utilize DX10 when I eventually upgrade to Vista.

RAM.....this is what I have found...I do not overclock and I am very happy with the matched pair of Corasir XMS 512MB 5400C4 running at 533 that I currently have so I figured the safe bet is in just jumping to a matched pair of 1MB sticks of the same.....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145015

Graphics card.....

I do have a budget and from the reviews I have read this card should carry me through the gaming world for at least the next year (hopefully 2) I like eVGA and I have nothing but good things to say about the eVGA 6800GS that I am currently using.

But if anyone has some input as to problems with the card listed below or if you know of another card that will perform just as well (or better) for around the same price I would like to hear about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.......

Your 500 watt PSU meets the minimum requirement.... GeForce GTX 970 | Specifications | GeForce

So with that in mind....I'd say yes to a new PSU.

Hi,
My system came with a R9 270 which I want to replace with a Sapphire Dual X R9 R280x.
That card needs a 6pin and an 8pin connection and the manufacturer's site say a 500W PSU is advised.
So, I'm concerned that I get a new PSU that fits my case, has the right connectors for all the 8700 components, and is say north of 600W.
Could anyone point me in the right direction.
My system info is......
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
RAM 24GB
Thanks

Hey,So I'm new to the PC gaming experience, coming over from console. I've had this PC for a while, and I've wanted to get into gaming, but my PC just can't handle any games, having integrated graphics. So ive looked around for a ~cheap~ graphics card that I could potentially shove in. I've looked around, and found that the GTX 1050ti is fairly good band for buck, and wondered if it would work / fit into my system.I understand that I will probably have to upgrade the power supply, and if so could you guide me on that as well.If it is at all possible, a guide to doing so would ~really~ be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think that you have a PCI-E slot. Replacing / adding graphics cards to laptops is not possible in 95% cases. I suggest that you contact HP to find out if it's possible.

Your laptop does have an Express Card 54/34 expansion slot. However, I'm not sure if you can add a video card through it.

I want to upgrade to a faster newer card with at least pixel shading 2. I know that the PCI express cards are the go. Unfortunately i dont have a mother board that supports PCI -e so i have to go for a AGP card. What is the best and fastest card i can get ? Not stressed about the money. But whats the best. 6600 was mentioned by someone. Cheers in advance.

I'm trying to upgrade to a Radeon RX 480 card.  I've upgraded the PSU to a 600 W Corsair.  I've been running a XFX Radeon 6950 with no issues.    I've had the 480 working in another machine so I know the card is fine.  I'm wondering if the 480 is even compatible with the motherboard.  I can't find information on its compatibility.

A:Graphics Card Upgrade

@ArcFlashAvoider, welcome to the forum. I believe that your problem is caused by the fact that the RX 480 requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a Legacy/standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  The BIOS can't be upgraded to UEFI.  I suggest that you contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to see if they can help you with a VBIOS update for the card that will allow it to work with UEFI. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

I have been looking on multiple sites to see if I can upgrade  my Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000 to something better so I can download an animation program. However so far all the answers I have found only end in me having to buy a new laptop. Is there a way for me to simply buy a new graphics card that will work and an external hard drive to make up for the lack of space I have on my computer? Or do I have no choice but to go and buy a new laptop?

A:Upgrade graphics card

@GhostCat6 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Sorry, but unlike desktops, which use cards, laptops have chips that are soldered directly to the motherboard or system board, or come in the form of "modules".Only a very limited subset of HP laptops actually allow the replacement of processor, audio, video or WiFi "modules" and, as far as I can tell, yours is not one of these models. This means there is really no way to upgrade the video, WiFi, or processor on your laptop. You're stuck with what came with the PC.You COULD consider putting an SSD in the laptop, but that really only helps with reducing the boot time and program load times. Once the game is loaded into memory and running, the SSD doesn't help real-time performance.

I have a Sparkle 9500 gt right now so I really am looking to the upgrade of my card so I can play all the newest games I have on max settings (or at least very close to) with good frame rate (Crysis, Oblivion, Dragon Age, MW2, Metro 2033, ect.). 2. Graphic interface - 2 PCI Express X16 Slots
3. Memory - 4 gigs of Kingston 667mhz pc5300 ddr2
4. CPU - Intel core 2 quad q6700
5. CPU Speed - 2.66 ghz
6. Power Supply Make/Model - Ultra LSP 650w
7. Watt output/Amperage -- 650w
8. Country -- USA
9. If it helps I have a 22" Acer Widescreen monitor

Originally I was thinking about switching to ATI but heard that if I do that I would have to invest in a new motherboard because mine looks like it can't use crossfire. Even though right now I'm only really interested in buying one card but in the future I will probably buy a second card if necessary. I heard that ATI's drivers don't work to well with Nvidia stuff so I'm kinda under the impression that even one card might crash a lot. But I dont know if it fits or if the power supply has enough "pins". (Yet again another term I don't understand.)
So once again if anybody can help with my delema I'd greatly apperciate it.
Thanks again,

Hi,

I assembled my PC in mid 2010 and it's still runs OK for my purposes except that I feel that Firefox and other programs that I use feel somehow sluggish and I attribute this to the naive graphics card I'm using (AMD RADEON HD 5450) even with the latest Catalyst drivers. I picked this up on purpose because it has no fan (I'm not a gamer anyway).
Now that it's 2014, I'm asking a recommendation for a more powerful graphics card that uses no fan at all in order to enjoy more powerful graphics in Firefox, youtube, flash, photoshop,...etc without adding any extra noise.

Thanks in advance.

A:Better no fan graphics card for upgrade

I sort of doubt that it is your sluggish problem especially with Firefox. That could be due to your internet connection.

What size hard drive and is it close to being full? Do you defrag it periodically?

With that said, check out the Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT730 4GB.

A:Can I upgrade to another graphics card?

@Cephachrome, welcome to the forum. There are several things that you have to consider when buying a video card: 1) length of the card.  Will it fit into the space, 2) power required to run it properly and 3) does it require supplemental power adapters?  Either of the video cards in the links provided will require you to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU), also.  The PSU in the computer is only 180W.  I would recommend the GTX 1050.  It has more onboard memory.  You will have to go to the manufacturer's website to determine how much power that it requires.  I suggest a PSU with at least 500W.  You should read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about both of the cards. Q: And can i also add the graphics cards above in thic pc.  A: Yes, the PCI Express slot is directly below the two cables.  You should use the same logic as described in my post. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

The best card you can get is the one you can afford. Just go to a higher series AMD card. Something in the 7000 series.

You can only put 1 video card on that board, it only has 1 PCI-Express slot

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c01925486

And you could always max out the memory to 16 GBs (but 8 GBs is fine)

But you might want to spend the money on a really good 550 to 650 watt Power Supply

With that budget and 500 watts, you should not be too limited in your purchases. One thing you need to check is if your Power Supply has a set of 6 pin connectors or 8 pin connectors because sometimes on the pre-bought machines they do not have too many.

Here is what I would recommend if you have at least 2 6 Pins available:

Highest
R9 280 175
or
R9 270X 140

Those would both be excellent cards with the 280 being the best and the 270X being right below it in terms of performance. Both would be a huge step up from an HD 5450.

After some reserch on the dell website I found out that you pc is a small form factor, but it does have 1 PCI-E X16 connector, the only thing that you would be limited by would be the form factor and the power supply.
Edit:
just to make sure this is the computer:http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-580s/pd ?

Hi,
Basically I'm looking to upgrade my PC's graphics card, and I'm totally new to it all.
I am however aware of the fact that for some strange reason, the novatech "gaming" PC I bought, the iFlame Pro, comes with an intergrated graphics card, the Intel HD Family. This is the PC

Just wondering if I can upgrade the graphics card on my HP Envy m7 - u009dx Notebook... It came with a 940mx & I was really looking to upgrade it...

A:Can I upgrade the graphics card?

Not without replacing the motherboard. I think there is a version with a 950MX, but the cost of replacing the motherboard for that modest upgrade would not make sense. The video is not a "card" as we understand it on a desktop. Soldered right into the motherboard.

Ok like it states in the title I want to upgrade my graphics card.
My Desktop PC name & model: HP Pavillion 550-101na
My Motherboard: 2B52
If more detail is needed please ask.

Right now I have a dual-graphics card setup which was pre-built when I bought it.
The Graphics cards are: AMD Radeon R7 Graphics + R5 Dial Graphics.

I want to upgrade to a better graphics card which can support more games, etc.
Would you know if my motherboard could support an upgrade and what graphics card would you recommend.
Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to upgrade the built in Nvidia GeForce GT 745A card to one more suitable for gaming? I unstand it is alot of work and it's costly to install a graphics card in an AIO pc. If not, does anyone know how I can modify more of my settings to make games run smoothly? Many games run fine (such as GTA 5) but some are still choppy and have to be run at low settings (such as Forza Hotrizon 3).

Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card in my HP Pavillion Notebook ( model # N5P49UA#ABA) from the installed  AMD Radeon R5 toan  AMD R9 Graphics card or higher and how is that done? Thank You SDHillmon1

A:Graphics Card Upgrade

Hi, I think your machine is an HP Pavilion 17-g120nr Notebook :     http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04773635 It has   2.2gHz up to 2.5GHz AMD Quad-Core A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 graphics with up to 2048MB total graphics memory The answer is no, you can't upgrade video card on your machine (actually on nearly all consumers class machines) because your machine has integrated video chip which is "soldered" to the motherboard. Regards.

Hi all

I've just decided to upgrade my desktop, which has 64bit capability/hardware, to win7 64 bit. It's part of me investing a small amount of cash in my desktop to make it really strong for another year or so before I retire it (hand it over to my Mom, haha) and upgrade to a strong laptop.

My question is: I have an NVidea 64bit board and an ASUS cpu--should I get an NVidea graphics card, or another brand will be just as good? Thanks.

Well, first off, there are only two companies that make CPU's, thats AMD and Intel. You probably have a Asus motherboard. Now, for you're question, you need to know if you have a 16x PCI-e port in your motherboard for a card, and, you need to tell us what you wanna do with the card.

If you play games, you need a good one. For HD video, it can be not that good, and for just browsing you dont really need one. If you wanna upgrade just for the show, go ahead, even if it wont do anything crucial.

Anyways, There are two companies that design Grahpics cards, thats Nvidia and ATI. These day's ATI has the most powerful cards, but for the more normal cards, either company is cool.
Hope this helps, Coolnes

1. Motherboard - Dell model: OF4991
2. Graphic interface -Nvidia FX5200 128MB RAM AGP version 3 8x
3. Memory - dual channel ddr 1024MB
4. CPU - Intel Pentium 4
5. CPU Speed -2.8GHz
6. Power Supply Make/Model - ??
7. Watt output/Amperage - 250W

As for budget well and use....budget for parts is around 50-60 and its used for FPS and some RTS games, mostly online FPS. Looking to play COD4.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

A:Want to upgrade graphics card

250 watts psu. Maybe you can look into a 2600xt or something. you're not going to play cod4 at a very good pace with an agp interface.
