connecting a canon mg2950 to a 4g modem

Q: connecting a canon mg2950 to a 4g modem

hi guys,

trying to connect a canon mg2950 printer to a vodafone portable modem via wifi to allow phones and laptops to print to it...

i have setup other wireless printers to a broadband modem where the printer has a control panel that was easy enough to connect to the existing ssid then install the printer driver...this particular printer has no control panel...i googled the manual and the instructions are pathetic...

under connect to wireless modem it says to check instructions for your wireless equipment.

is there a program you can install to talk to the printer to configure network settings...i havent a clue

there is a function called access point mode which says you can connect directly to the printer if no wifi / network system exists...but i cant see this is the right way to do it as surely then you will have no internet connection...your wifi will be connected straight to the printer and thats all...

very frustrated, please help point me in the right direction

i do remember having to setup an adhoc network to a printer before, but this has no instructions regarding this

Preferred Solution: connecting a canon mg2950 to a 4g modem

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: connecting a canon mg2950 to a 4g modem

According to the Canon website you can use the WPS method: http://www.canon.co.uk/support/cons...setup/pixma_mg2950_wireless_connection_setup/

Or the standard method for these type of printers is to run through the setup on a computer to get it connected to the wireless.

Hi - I have a wireless cable modem from Time Warner in my bedroom and the signal was really weak in the living room, so I ran an ethernet network cable through the aprtment and hooked it up to the line in on a TP-LINK TL-WR841N modem. Could someone suggest how I set up the tp link to use the other wireless modem's network? I'm kind of new to this but can work my way through. Will it have the same network name and ip? Thanks for any help!

Hi All...

I just got a new PC on Monday - here are the specs off the top of my head (I am at work, PC is at home) - HP Pavillion 764, 2.6 Ghz., 512 MB DDR Ram, Lucent Modem, 120 GB hard drive, 128 MB nVidia GeForce MX 440 video card, Windows XP Home.

I connect via MSN 8 dial up. No cable/dsl in my area at all.

Ok, with my old PC I would get a consistent connection of 32000 bps. Now, with the new PC I am connecting at 21.6 or 24000 bps - which makes for a huge performance hit since I am an online gamer.

I was ok with the 32k connection - a lot of latency - but this is worse with the 21 & 24k connection.

I am still using the same phone lines, dialing the same #'s and using the same version software for internet connection.
The only difference is the PC, OS & Modem really.

Why am I connecting slower now and how can I fix this?
Do you think I should swap modems?

My hard drive died so i am having to reinstall everything and my printer won't reinstall !! It is connected to the wireless and i've printed out the network config and everything appears OK.

When i try and install it using the installation disc the printer cannot be detected.

I tried manually installing it through "Add Hardware" this worked, yet it won't print so i guess it hasn't installed correctly :-(

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me crazy as it worked perfectly before my hard drive had to be replaced !!

I have had this wireless printer for a few months hooked up to my router and it's worked perfectly printing from 2 ipads, my laptop and my wife's laptop.

Now it will not print from my laptop. The other three devices are all working just fine but my laptop give an error when I try to print.

It says:

"The printer is offline.
Check that the printer cable is connected and the printer power is on."

I know that my laptop is connected to the router because I'm typing on this website. I know my printer is connected because it's printing from other devices.

I tried several different changes including removing the printer and re-installing the drivers/software from the website and also the original disk. When doing that I was getting an error saying that I need to logon as administrator to install software...I am logged in as admin so I don't know what's wrong.

I did a restore last night because I had changed so may things and nothing worked.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello guys. I have a rather unusual problem without an apparent solution and it drives me crazy because I tried everything possible.

- Canon MG5550 Wireless Printer
- Desktop PC with Windows 10 PRO
- Old laptop with Windows 10
- Wireless Router ZTE F668

In the past, I had an old router for which I paid 15$(second hand from a friend). I had that router for a gazillion years and it worked perfectly. I could connect the printer, laptop and 3 smartphones to it no difficulty.
Now I purchased 300mbs internet service and I was given a router by my ISP(ZTE F668), and I cannot connect the printer to the PC anymore. The old laptop works just fine with the new configuration, but the desktop PC cannot find the printer. I must mention the fact that the desktop is connected with the router via fiber-link cable, but the laptop is connected to the router wirelessly.
I tried messing with the IP of the printer, I reset the printer, I reset the router, I even reinstalled my Windows and nothing works. I cannot keep my printer connected via USB cable to the desktop because I would like them to be in separate rooms.
After all this trouble, I realized that probably the issue is coming from the router because I cannot find another explanation. Since I cannot use the old router because it doesn't support high speeds, what are my options?

I am new to camcorders. I bought a used Canon ZR40 camcorder. I want to connect it to my computer. On the Canon website, it says I need an optional OHCI compatible, digital video capture kit available commercially. I purchased a 4-pin/6-pin firewire cable - the 6-pin end plugged into my HP computer fine but the 4-pin end did not fit into the camcorder. So apparently I need this digital video capture kit - I am in Canada - where can I buy one or order one online. And what is a digital video capture kit anyway?

(apologies to Lita4 for borrowing her thread) I tried connecting my Canon Ixus 105 (and Ixus 70) cameras to my computer to upload pictures, but my computer doesn't detect it. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium (x64). Worked fine until a few days ago. When I tried to install a driver software for it, I get this error message: "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. MTP USB Device Access is denied. " Don't know why or how one would deny access to a device driver. I went through a few threads in the forum posted by people with the same problem and tried a solutions but none of them worked for me . What I have done so far to fix the problem: . Tried multiple USB ports . Tested second camera (Ixus 70) - same problem . Tested Olympus camera - no probem . Tested all those cameras on a Vista machine - no problem. . Found no relevant entries like "Upper path" in registry {EEC5AD98 ...} Really baffled. Would love some ideas.

A:MTP USB Device Error When Connecting Canon Camera

I am not familiar with your camera and I do not have an answer to your specific question; but, I will tell you what I do to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer and it avoids all the device recognition problems one might encounter.

I remove the flash memory from my camera and do my transfers directly through the card reader. If the flash memory is good, the read is always 100% successful. Also, the transfer, itself, is usually faster and depending on the camera, sometimes a lot faster.

I have several cameras and each one has its own proprietary, camera-to-computer connecting cable. Using my computer's in-built card reader also eliminates the desktop clutter of several cables. Once you try it that way, you may decide the same as I -- that those interface cables are clunky, cluttery and unnecessary.

Hope this helps.

After connecting my digital camera or a card reader, I have always the windows Hardware Wizard. It is crazy : with Windows XP Service Pack2, I should not need any drivers.
So consequently, it is impossible to connect my camera to my PC (to transfer pictures) .

I 've already spent 2 hours with Canon support: we checked the 3 required services: "Canon Camera Access Library 8",
"Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)", "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" the 3 are "started"

I know the camera and the camera work (I used another PC to check: no issue ) ; my USB port too (my iPod works) .
Any clues?

I am having an issue that just popped up when I connect my Canon SX200IS digicam to my Win7 x64 HP Pavilion PC via USB. 1 or 2 seconds after the default sound Windows makes when connecting a device, the screen goes black with a colored distortion and then the PC reboots. According to the HP site my BIOS and all drivers for my hardware are up to date. I suspect some kind of video issue only because of the weird things happening with the display right before the crash. I don't connect my cam that often but it last worked on 2/25/10 the last time I downloaded pictures. I need help I guess, figuring out what has changed on my PC since then because it did work before without issue. I did remove the SD card and insert it directly into the PC's SD Card slot and that works without issue.

This is my first time to this site - if my full specs aren't shown from my profile please let me know and I will add them to this message.

I'm running WinXP Home on an HP Pavilion and have connected a Canon BJC-210 printer via a Cables to Go USB to Parallel Adapter cable.

I have followed the instructions and set the port to USB001 during the running of the Install Printer Wizard. When the Wizard finishes and tells me all is honkey-dorey it asks if I want to print a test page. I click yes but the page never prints.

I have opened the printer folder and gone to the Troubleshooter which I have followed to the end, doing everything from re-starting and re-installing to attempting to change drivers &c. It will not allow me to delete the current driver (which is the Microsoft Driver) and it will not allow me to upgrade (because it says I already have the best driver installed).

I tried the Cables to Go online technical support but either the tech got tired of talking to me or the connection just up and quit. I also tried resolving it by email with Cables to Go but I am now three days into it and all that has happened is that we are on step two of the troubleshooter. At this rate the posatronic brain will have been invented before I can print something on my computer.

So I come to the one place where I have NEVER been disappointed (sometimes frustrated, but never disappointed).

I see two answers: 1. Some little switch someplace that I just have not found or 2. Cables to Go has my thirty bucks and I have a piece on non-functional crap that will never do what I want it to do.

At present, I have the following setup:

Cable comes into the modem and goes to the router. The router then feeds my Vonage phone system and all my computers. The only computer that connects wireless is my wife's laptop, everything else is hard wired.

99% of the time this setup works flawlessly, but there are times I want to hook my main pc directly to the modem (for troubleshooting). It will not connect to internet that way. I suspect the reason is that when I installed Win 7 Pro I told it that it would connect to my local network.

There has to a way to connect that one pc directly to the modem. This where I need the help.

Thanks for any help.

A:Connecting Modem to PC

Every time you attempt to connect to the Internet, your ISP checks the MAC address of the 1st component that's connected to the modem, which normally is your router.
However, if you did not clone the MAC address of your main PC's network card to the router when you set up the router, then your ISP will be seeing your network card's MAC address when you connect the modem directly to your main PC. And since your ISP does not recognize the network card's MAC address, it will not allow you to access the Internet.
If that's the case, then just clone the MAC address of your network card to the router at the router's online administrative site.
You can find your network card's MAC address by doing this:
Click Start, type system information in the Search box, click on System Information, click the + next to Components and then Network, and scroll down to MAC Address.

A:modem not connecting

It could be a number of things but the most probable from your description is a feature that disconnects you if there is too much idle time. There is a setting for 15 minutes as an example that would kick in after 15 minutes of no activity. That's one half the other may be noise on the line. That could cause your not being able to log on without a reboot.

You didn't say if you have a dial up modem ISP or high speed internet but I'm assuming dial up from your description. Also, do you have Call Waiting ?? Last would be a firmware upgrade for your modem but tell us this, did it ever work right, no disconnects, no time outs, etc. ???

JohnWill's procedure for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses through, I'd assign the secondary router as it's IP address.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

In a few weeks my contract with my local cable ISP will be up and I am seriously thinking about going to AT&T DSL. AT&T has a nice package deal - they provide a modem & I have to hook it up (they charge $200 for a serviceman to come out).

My question: Is there much, if any difference in connecting a DSL modem as opposed to my current cable modem? My thinking is just to swap out the wires and carry on.

Any suggestion or input is appreciated!

A:Connecting DSL Modem

a few months ago I switched from cable to DSL.(ATT).The package came with an installation CD and very straight forward installation instructions.I was up and running in about 15 mins.
One thing about DSL though.Generally the further away you are from the main telco office, the slower the speed. The outer limit,I believe is 18,000 feet.So that might be a good thing to know.I am two blocks from the telco office so my bandwidth is pretty good(paying for 3mb's and get consistantly about 2.7(close enough).

The other day, we had TONS of snow, which caused the power to go out about 3 times, for short bursts. I was surfing the net on my laptop...
Well, now I can't hook up to the internet with it. I turned the sound up & listened, and it sounds pretty scratchy... anyway, you can hear the dial tone, and then the tone dialing & beeps... but the dial tone continues un-affected.
I called my server, who helped me set up a new connection, and looked at the device, which says its all fine...
Does anyone have any experience with this? I am thinking that the modem got a jolt through the phone line, which damaged it.

Do you think this will have to be replaced? are they expensive/hard to install?
Thanks for any help... I will call a local tech too... but they are sooo $$$$$$!

A:Modem stopped connecting

The problem you have is a Telephone Type of problem usually refered to as, 'inability to break dial tone'.

It can be either the dialing device, OR the phone line itself.

If you can dial out on a regular Phone, then the problem is with your Modem's Phone circuitry. A new Modem will be required.

Replacing a (PCI Slot) Modem in other than a Laptop is a rather simple choir. It's basically unplug the old one and plug in the new one. AND if you get an exact duplicate of the current one....no setup would be required!

AND PCI Modems are Cheap!!!

You need a modem/router my friend. With 4 ports on the back and preferably wireless
You can get them for as little as 20, then you just configure it with the settings that you received with your pipex installation.
Then you'd either hardwire your pc downstairs to it via an uber long cat5e cable, or put a wireless card in it and connect to the router wirelessly.

All the above benefits, plus you're getting a better firewall that what windows has to offer.

If you'd tell us the make/model of the router, the modem, and the details of the ISP service, we could probably be more help. It would be nice to know what version of Windows you run too.

I've tried using the search function but could not find anything related to my specific problem.

When I connect my Alcatel 330 speedtouch modem to my PC it reboots. When I then try to start the PC I am unable to start windows XP (it just hangs). After many experiments I found that if I disconnect my modem (connected via UCB) then XP boots no problem.

I have done a full windows re-install but the problem stil persists.

In the BSOD I am given the following error:

STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000000, 0X00000005, 0X00000001, 0XF74C2C19)

atapi.sys - Address F84C6C85 base at F84C10000, DateStamp 41107b4d.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Any ideas?

Many thanks

I don't understand your question. Is it now in bridge mode and you want to restore the router function?

Is there a user manual on the CD?

Hey I have a "D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router", Today my ISP provided me with a "Wireless Arris Modem TG852".

I connected the "Wireless Arris Modem TG852" directly to my desktop pc via wired connection.
I would like to connect the "Wireless Arris Modem TG852" to my "D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router" wireless, to connect to my Sony Bravia Ex72.

how do I configure them to be linked?

A:Connecting wireless modem..

Based on the TG852 flyer at the manufacturers web site it functions as both a gateway and a router. I do not believe you can connect it to another router but you should be able to connect your game system to the wireless signal of the gateway.

I'd like to be able to connect to my modem wirelessly because with recent rearranging, I just don't have an ethernet cable long enough to reach my PC. If a problem ever comes up with my connection (which frequently happens), I just power cycle my modem and router instead of just going in the modem settings to see if there's any abnormalities. I was wondering if it is possible to connect to my modem and troubleshoot through my wireless router.

Router model is NETGEAR WGR614v9
Modem model is AMBIT U10C018

I read the modem manual and the IP for the modem is, but that's also the IP address to access the router settings. So when I type in in my address bar, it brings me to the router only.

Any help is appreciated!
