Weird computer behavior past few days.

Q: Weird computer behavior past few days.

The problem started a few days ago with our browsers running slow and sometimes timing out. I then started to notice that icons and menus looked slightly different and that administrator shield icons started showing up on files and icons also when clicking on buttons on menus such as windows update the menu would flicker.
Was suspicious so checked processes and services and such and that's when I noticed that whenever something was downloaded off internet even just a web page link document under it's properties in the general tab at bottom it says this file came from another computer and has been blocked for your computers safety with a box to unblock it. I searched more and found a lot of files including my pictures that had three new users 2 named unknown with a long number beginning with S-1-0...... and another listed as UUID with a long number and ending saying Mcx1-my user name-PC which I know is my media extender for my Xbox but the other 2 users were never there. The last thing that has been happening is when I boot to safe mode with networking so I can try doing a scan with my main anti virus program the action center gives me a warning saying that Windows security center is disabled please enable it now, I go to services and click to start it and it immediately stops, I try to run a scan with my antivirus and it says it can't start without Windows security center being enabled.
Don't know if these have anything to do with it but about a week ago my fiancées yahoo account was hacked which she deleted the account and never opened any e-mails and also I used Oracles virtual machine software so that I could try Windows 8 before I decided to buy it, didn't like windows 8 so I deleted the virtual machine and uninstalled the Oracle VM software. I did a number of scans and the only one that found anything was Malwarebytes which found 2 Trojan.Agents which it listed the extensions as mt_32.dll and Winload.dll and found Trojan Redir.Qoogle.xml, the Q is not a typo. Please help I can't afford to do a clean install I rely on this computer for college. My OS is Windows 7 home premium running on a HP pavilion with 6 GB ram and a quad core AMD processor.

Preferred Solution: Weird computer behavior past few days.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It has been pretty sudden, my laptop the past 2-3 days now has been freezing suddenly after about 1-2 hours after start up. On one occasion it was still at the login screen and it was frozen. Mostly it has occurred when I was just simply on Facebook, checking email, and doing smaller tasks that I have had no issue with just last week. Once frozen, it does not respond to Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Alt+F4, only a hard restart seems to make it work again.

I ran Malwarebyte, Viper Antivirus in Safe mode, nothing was found. I also ran CC registry cleaner and it found some issues with the Window System-32 files. It was de-fragmented about 6 days ago. The laptop itself is Toshiba Satellite and is about 3 years old, running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. I'm not sure if it could be a hard drive starting to go out or something else, it just seems the issue has occurred rather suddenly which seems to make me think that something was downloaded/occurred very recently.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I made a thread on here when I first had this problem 10 days ago but apparently I made it in the wrong section so it was overlooked. The original thread contains all the details of what problems I was having:www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=220017To summarize, I was getting constant GoogleUpdate.exe errors, I couldn't open any internet browser without it immediately closing, and my computer froze every time I turned it on after only minutes of use; I ran Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware (which I had to rename to "fluffy.exe" in order for the computer to let me open it) in Safe Mode and it found two results:Registry Keys Infected:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UAC (Rootkit.Trace) -> Quarantined and deletedFiles Infected:C:\WINDOWS\system32\uacinit.dll (Trojan.Agent) -> Delete on reboot.I ran it again and the entries were gone. I also ran full scans with Webroot Spysweeper and Norton Anti-Virus (neither one of which found anything other than a few tracking cookies). The problem with the constant GoogleUpdate.exe errors was fixed after that, as was the browser issue and the computer freezing after only minutes of use.But apparently it's not all fixed yet; I'm still having issues with the computer freezing up when I try to access my desktop or open folders and occasionally freezing on startup when the desktop is loading. I'll have to manually shut it down after that and often times when it starts up again it will freeze on &... Read more

Hi, All ~ One of my coworkers is having odd problems and I wondered if they sounded like any Trojan horses or other viruses out there. Every morning when she comes in, she finds that her printer is disabled -- she gets the "error in print job" message, so she has to re-acquaint her printer with her computer every day. Someone installed Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper. Every time she tries to use Spy Sweeper is freezes as soon as it has quarantined what it found.

Does any of that sound familiar? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can refresh forever and it makes no difference. I can go everywhere else, just not this 1 page. After asking on another forum if the site were down, almost everyone replied they could access it, except 1 other person.
I have previously been able to go there and it's an open forum.
Suggestions included blocked ISP (not so), delete temp files, cookies, remove firewalls, ping site (couldn't).
Did all of the above as well as gone to the other computer on the home network that has different software and it couldn't access either.
I run XP SP1,have DSL, run through a Netgear router. I run Trend PC-cillin 2005 antivirus,Ad-aware6.0, Spybot, recently downloaded Microsoft's Beta Spyware.
This is driving me nuts.Thank you for your help.

My computer (running Windows 7) is suddenly not acting right.  It is now taking 3-4 times longer to boot up and load items on desktop. I don't think I have malware as i was recently helped wiyh this issue and have been careful. However, I am not the only one who uses the computer.

I tried to use system restore to go to several restore back before the issue started. I keep getting the message "System Restore failed while restoring the registry from the restore point."  On at least one of these attempts the desktop changed and showed icons that would have been present at that restore point. In addition, on a couple of these attempts Avast was very slow to respond after the system restore process, and in fact resulted in restore points being created. I ran sfc /scannow and it did not find any integrity violations.

i ran malwarebytes at a couple of restore points and it found nothing. I do not have a lot of startup programs.

i would appreciate any assistance.  thanks.

Hello everyone, I've recently had a false positive virus on my computer that was quarantined as a keylogger [Click Here] and since then my computer has seemed to act sort of strange. First of all, hardly any programs respond correctly or are extremely slow, as an example, I just opened notepad, a seemingly easy program to run but as I was typing or just anything, it froze then became unresponsive along with explorer.exe (windows.exe = start menu, task bar, desktop ect.). The day before I ran three different virus scanners to determine if I had anymore virus's on my computer or not. (I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, BitDefender, and Microsoft Security Essentials).
Malwarebytes came up as clean but BitDefender and Microsoft Security Essentials both came up with one trojan each. But I determined that they where both false positives because I've used them for a while and they caused me no trouble at all, but back to my main problem. Whenever I start up Google Chrome or any web browser it takes a very long time for them to load the webpage or anything at all, sometimes not even loading at all (simply crashing).

I've looked at the "Monday Internet Doomsday" virus on the FBI's website and scanned my computer's IP and DNS and found out they where clean or supposedly clean. Then just curious I started the Command Prompt and typed in "ipconfig /allcompartments /all" and first noticed that my desktop's "Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection" was differ... Read more

I have upon start up, 2 error messages stating that I have 2 missing or corrupt .dll files
W0806cd4.dll
W083667d.dll
I have done a search for these files online and can not find any info on them or anyone talking about them on any post!
I click ok and the computer continues to start up normally.

The weird behavior I have been having with my Windows XP is that several times a day my system tray and page will go blank, I can't do anything when it does this, and it reloads everything, desktop buttons, system tray buttons and all..

My computer will also not shut down all the way from time to time. I will "shut down" and it will proceed as normal and then it will go blue screen and I have to push and hold my tower button to get it completely off.
It's done these things for a good while now and was curious about why.

Also running really slow as well..
I would appreciate any help with the above issues and cleaning up my computer! I'm afraid to do it anything on my own, I might delete something important!

For the past few weeks or so, my computer has been very slow. It?s gotten to a quite agitating point. At first, I thought that maybe it was just because the computer is a couple of years old, so I did a few things to speed it up ? I disabled some of the startup programs, uninstalled some unused programs, cleaned out a lot of unnecessary files, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I also ran CCleaner (the regular cleaner and the registry cleaner). I also tried to run Super Anti-Spyware, Adaware, Avast, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (one at a time, of course).

However, I haven?t been able to successfully run Super Anti-Spyware Remover or Adaware for the past few weeks. Super Anti Spyware always encounters an unexpected problem and must shut down unexpectedly. Adaware did the same thing. I uninstalled and reinstalled both of them, just in case it was a problem with the programs. Super Anti-Spyware still does the exact same thing. When I reinstalled Adaware, it was the newer version, but it still won?t complete a (full) scan. This time, it just froze at a certain point. It was stuck on one file and the timer telling you how long it?s been scanning was stuck at the same time. A little while later, it crashed.

I can get Malwarebytes to complete a scan, though it finds nothing. I can also get Adaware to complete a quick scan, and it also finds nothing.

I?ve also noticed that Avast has also been telling me ?Malicious software has been blocked? more frequently than I?m used to. ... Read more

I believe the Blue Screens and hanging applications began after installing the latest Windows updates. The first thing that went wrong was the AVG anti-virus update got hung up. I then ran a manual update which seems to have fixed that problem. Then the Blue Screens started at no particular time or while using any specific software. I was unable to read the Blue Screens as they automatically disappeared from the screen and the computer restarted. When I attempted to run an SFC /scannow, it would not allow me to do so even though I'm the administrator and never had this happen before. I had to create a new user as Admin in order to run the scan. The scan showed no errors. Attached is everything I saved in zip files. I have Windows 7 32 bit, retail OS, pc is 9 months old, reinstalled system once about 6 months ago.

A:Very Slow The Past Few Days

Hello, Angelo. I don't see anything in these logs to suggest the issue of slowness is related to malware. It may be something beyond the scope of this particular section of the forum. Let's take a look with another tool. If nothing malware related is found, we'll ask you to repost in our Windows XP section of the forum.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Download

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. For you, it is the 32bit version:
Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Double-click on FRST to run it.
When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

I have gotten two BSOD's in the past two days while playing League of Legends with my friends. I think all my drivers are up to date so I am not sure what is causing the problem. Also i don't think me playing the game is relevant to the crashes. Please give me feed back from what the crash report says.

Hello! I have had three crashes within the past few days, and each has cited a different file as the cause. I'm not really sure what to do. I did not do anything new or different when this started--no drivers were updated, no new programs, nothing. I am fully up-to-date on my Windows and driver updates.

Steps I have tried:Ran memtest86+, no errors were found.
Was running the latest stable release of my graphics driver (314.07), upgraded to the latest beta release (314.21) to try to fix--did not help.
Ran sfc /scannow, it found no errors.
I'm not sure what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Three BSODs within the past few days

Your errors seem to be gfx related, first step IMO would be to uninstall all gfx drivers run Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling then reinstall new drivers

Get temp monitoring software if you dont already and run Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark whilst checking temps should give you an idea if your card is OK

Any more dumps after this and post back with new files

I've been copy/pasting dump debugs from WinDbg, but your SF Diagnostic Tool seems like a much better option! Let me know if you think you know what the problem could be. Thank You.

DDR Ram 1.5 gb at 400 MHz

the system is running on Windows 7 Ultimate Ed. 32 Bit

for the past 2 days i have been getting regular BSOD indicating NETIO.SYS at the bottom of the page.
while searching other forums regarding this i found out that this may be due to antivirus i am using. then i uninstalled my norton 360 av and switched to Microsoft Security Essentials but still BSOD keeps on appearing.
I have attached two zip archives (with instructions also in 2nd archive) that contain the minidump files as well as the performance report.
hope anyone can help me get a solution.

Hi,
in this video Laura E. Hunter from Microsoft describes behavior analytics: https://youtu.be/hNZdboDvnuU?t=1251
She says that ATA will analyze the behavior in a domain for 21 days and declare this as normal behavior. After the 21 days ATA will report unusual user behavior based on the 21 days analysis.
I have two questions about this:
1. Can we see the progress of the analysis somewhere? I searched through the ATA-center but there is nothing. Is it possible to see it in some kind of logfile or the Mongo-DB?
2. We have started ATA with one DC. What happens if we add our other DCs later? Will the analysis recognize behavior from those, also when the 21 days are already over?
I did not find anything about this 21 days analys period in the documentation. I'm more than happy with a hint if I have overseen something there.
Thanks in advance

Hi all

First, thanks for all the great advice this forums puts out!

I was struggling to install W7 64 bit (freezing at 'Welcome') but 32 bit installed OK. I upped the video RAM in BIOS and removed one of the 2 * 2GB RAM cards. 64 bit installed clean at that point...!

I reinstalled the RAM only to find that W7 behaved very strangely - sometimes grey-screening, disabling Ethernet adapter, speakers etc and generally misbehaving, until I removed the 2GB RAM again. All OK.

THEN... In find I can't disable the tapping feature of my mousepad (annoying - too sensitive) even after downloading the Synaptics driver (no tapping page presented so can't disable the damn thing!...)

ANY advice welcomed. Thanks!

A:W7 install experiences the past 2 days!

You are the third person today to post about this RAM issue (I probably missed a few in the other sections).

See this: Works fine with 2gb but doesnt work at all with 4gb?

During October 9 through October 11, noticing my system was sometimes unresponsive for seconds at a time, I began to look for other symptoms than a simple over-fragmented hard drive.
On checking the firewall log, I discovered port scans coming from two or three IPs during the last 48 hours.
The IPs are 209.18.47.61 and either 204.86.118.19 (or 20,21) or 66.35.58.75 (or 76-77).The IP 209.18.47.61 is associated with domain "belfalest.com" and registered with Tierranet Inc.
The IPs 2014.86.118.19 (20-21) and 66.35.58.75 (76-77) are registered with Dreamhost, LLC with no domain owner visible.
Although I am reluctant to raise what is likely to be a false alarm, port scans are hostile behavior and this series of scans is associated with simultaneously depressed system performance.
Any suggestions about what post-scan checks I should put into place before resuming normal operations?

I have recently installed Firefox, drivers for a n52 speedpad and the audio drivers for my system. I am getting random BSODs and it seems like any time I use my front USB ports also. I am assuming that it is my audio drivers that are causing the problems, but I have also heard that Firefox is not very stable on 64 bit machines. If I am playing music when the BSOD happens, then the music buzzes until the dump is done.

I am new to Windows 7 but not new to computers. If anyone could help me pinpoint my problem, I would be very appreciative. Attached is a minidump zip.

Thanks.

hi and welcome

as you can see you have a monster memory problem. Rather than doing all of these I would
Download memtestx86 and run overnight

ryn a system file check to verify and repair your system files to do that
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow
download cpu-z, and gpu-z both free to check your temps for you might have a heat issue

Hi, sorry for posting again. This is just a follow-up from my previous post:
http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ds-2-days.html

I ran memtest86+ (standard test) on my 2x2GB Team Elite DDR3 sticks. Testing each stick for 5 passes showed no errors. Later I'll be testing my other pair, 2x1GB GEIL DDR3. Since Ken mentioned that I should also test the slots, I'm thinking of testing the next 2 sticks on different slots, basically trying to hit 2 birds with one stone, testing both the stick and the slot at the same time.

I was wondering, If all the sticks have no errors and all slots are ok, is it safe to say that the problem might be software or driver related? Would doing a fresh install be a good solution to the problem?

Also, my mobo has an ATI chipset and I now have an nVidia GPU, will installing the ATI southbridge drivers conflict with the nVidia GPU drivers?

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I've been getting some pretty annoying BSODs screens the past few days. It usually happens when I'm playing games on my comp but there was one case where it happened when I was browsing the net. It didn't happen before when I played my games but now it's popping up almost every session.

A:Constant BSOD the past few days

Hi CC123.

First of all, scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
If the tests are clean, very good, take some hardware tests next.

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Let us know the results.

Hi there! I figured I would finally make an account and ask someone who know what they're doing rather than try to fix it myself, because that never really helps

The BSODs started only a few days ago and the first one I didn't pay attention too really, now they're starting to worry me. One of them resulted in "No Boot Device Found" when the BSOD was done. I turned off the computer and turned it on again and thankfully it loaded fine (though a bit slow). Anyways any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated since it's my mother's desktop!

I uploaded what I think is everything, but let me know if anything else is needed and thank you again in advanced for any help!

Hi. I am hoping someone would be kind enough to help me with a slow boot issue that suddenly started a couple of days back. I can't connect it with anything I did at the time with the PC, installation-wise or whatever... There was a power outage in my area for a few seconds, but I have a pure sine wave UPS connected and the PC didn't even flicker...

Normally, a reboot takes about 40 secs. It is now taking about 2 minutes. What happens is that the Welcome screen appears and, instead of lasting a few seconds, sits there for about 20 seconds. Then, the monitor goes black for 30 secs. or so, before coming back on and then, as far as I can see, things seem OK, the boot concludes. No shutdown delays.

I did a clean reboot, no non-Windows services, and thought I had fixed the problem, as the reboot was normal: Intel Update Manager seemed to be the culprit in the end. But a few boots later, the issue returned, though that service was still disabled. Same thing when I did a System Restore back to a point before the boot problem showed itself. At first that seemed to fix it, but after a few boots, the problem was back. I have run diagnostics on the CPU, SSDs and memory (MemTest86, several runs) but can't see any hardware issues.

So I have just done a boot trace, as per the thread here ("Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace.htm"). The etl file is 1.25GBs (!!): I have uploaded it here, nonetheless:

MEGA

I hope the trace is OK - I got a message s... Read more
