Printer error messages when printing is working fine

Q: Printer error messages when printing is working fine

I am running Windows 8.1 on an HP Envy Laptop. I have a wireless HP 6500A Plus printer. I have been using this setup successfully for a couple of years.

The last 4 or 5 times I have printed (over the last 2 or 3 weeks), I have gotten an on-screen "printer offline" popup, but the printer begins printing almost simultaneously. The popup goes away, and when the print job is finished, I get another popup which tells me there was a printer error and the document was not able to print. But it did print! This happens no matter how long the printer and laptop have been turned on.

This occurs every time, but it never occurred at all before 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I can't think of a thing I have changed. Since the popups go away and the printer prints, I guess this is more of an annoyance than a real problem, but something ain't right.

I have not contacted HP because past experience with them seems to always result in a communication problem, and it takes being referred to 2 or 3 people to ever reach a solution. I thought I would try this forum first. Any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Printer error messages when printing is working fine

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have the same printer. The error I get is " the print spooler didn't lode", but like yours, it prints fine.

My HL-5240 worked fine on 9/3. Was away for the weekend - came home and now the printer does not work. Printer status is "Error - printing". Option to connect printer is greyed out. Control panel -> printer is ready. Test page does not print ("error - printing"). If I hit the "go" button on the printer three times, I will get a printed copy of the settings so I know that the printer is able to print (no jams, toner good, etc). If I go to the printer properties and select TROUBLE SHOOT, it comes back and tell me "Trouble shooting couldn't identify the problem". I have an epson printer that prints. So, what happened to my Brother? Any ideas?

I work at a small office where we have a large Ricoh Alfico 3035 Network Printer. We had just relocated to a new office and I set everything up and it was working fine. Today I tried to move over to a new DSL Connection through AT&T, (the free T1 line in the office was too slow), so I ran an IPCONFIG and reinstalled the printer using the new IP. This worked fine as usual on the Vista Machines, but when I set up the TCP/IP port on the XP machines I get a print error.

I'm lost because I've done this many times before and have never had a problem.

Here is step by step what I'm doing on the XP:

Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes -> Add A Printer -> Local Printer -> Create New Port -> Standard TCP/IP port

I input the IP, Install the correct driver, and when I get done it asks me to print a test page. That's when I get the error.

I'm using the same exact settings I used on the Vista Machines which are working fine.

Any help would be great,

Edit: This is my first time on here, so hey everybody!

I keep getting messages on my PC screen: "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'smart-web-printing' disk and click OK." Before, it used to come up about 8 times upon booting, then cease to appear. Today, it appears every time I open a file. How do I make these messages stop? Thanks!

A:Smart-Printing error messages keep appearing

smart-web-printing is an HP plug-in for Internet Explorer & Firefox. Disable or remove the plugin from those two web browsers and the error should stop. See this HP support page: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Web-Printing-Software/How-to-cancel-HP-SMART-WEB-PRINTING/td-p/196944

Try clicking on the Print View button and see what your problem is. Margins can obviously be reset to acceptable sizes, once you know where the adjustments need to be made. I keep mine at 1" on all sides in Word. That is NOT the default setting, by the way.

Hi...newbie here! I have windows xp and an epson stylus sx205. When attempting to print either personal docs or info off web pages the printer is printing out all coded text with text mixed in and no images or graphics at all. I have uninstalled and installed the printer twice (and have also used an uninstall tool to clear up any leftovers from the normal uninstall). The test page of the printer prints correctly! A couple of weeks ago I did a huge amount of maintenance on the comp to speed it up and it was only yesterday that I used the printer for first time since that , that the problem became apparant. So..I conclude I have somehow altered something, in error, and dont know for the life of me what that was or how I did it! Please help!!? Thanks.

When you remove the printer also open the printers folder and go to File > Server properties and go to the drivers tab and delete all drivers listed if they are not being used. Then try and reinstall the drivers with the most current ones from the Epson web site.

I contacted Epson support and the problem wasn’t resolved.

They suggested that I uninstall and reinstall TX110, but the problem became worse.

I decided to uninstall all of Epson’s software that appears on the ADD/REMOVE list, one at a time, but other components wouldn’t “UNINSTALL”, and an "ERROR" message kept on coming up with "error ... specific module not found" for each of the components:

Epson Print CD - 24.03mb
Epson Print Image Framer Tool 2.1
Epson Printer Software (which came up with RS210 temp files)
Epson Web to Page - 5.03mb

I went into REGEDIT HKEY….USER-Software and those four components were listed. I then went into REGEDIT HKEY…MACHINE-Software and there was quiet a lot of Epson stuff still there. (See Attachments Part 2 and 3.)

If I can’t uninstall these components via the ADD/REMOVE, can it be actioned through REGEDIT to eliminate them?

My second thought is to reinstall the software (TX110) again, but I am wondering if these other components might cause some form of confliction, and make things worse. I believe that there could be REGISTRY problem that is stopping the removal of these components in the first place.

Thoughts and advice appreciated?

ON the surface, it sounds to me as if you have a corruption of system files. The problem may be more extended than that, especially with some of the viruses around today.

A few things you can try:

Trend Micro's Housecall- http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

An online virus scanner. Takes a while to load, esp. over dialup, but is good for a quick check.

System Restore:

Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. In the program that pops up, chose "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click next. Then on the calendar that pops up, chose a date that has a bold number and is a day before the problems started happening. Click next, follow directions. You will have to reboot.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/plan/faqsrwxp.mspx has more info.

System File checker...

In the box that pops up put in "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. Press enter. When it finishes, reboot the machine.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=310747 For more info.

Also be sure to run a scandisk on your harddrive and to check for bad sectors just in case.

Let us know what you try and what results you get.

Hope this helps! BTW- Welcome to Techspot!

I am attempting to add a TCP/IP printer to a desktop. I used the set of instructions using, add a printer, create a port, TCP/IP, enter in the IP address of the printer, and the system never finds the printer. It just says, 'device is not found on the network'.

Is there another step?

My question is also in regard to the physical connections on the printer and computer. Currently, I have the ethernet cable going from the printer to the wall ethernet data port. Is this correct?

I guess this printer is not a network printer since I used the IP address rather then searching for it on the network. Did I do everything correct? Any ideas?

Using home-built system running Windows XP, Service Pack 2, 512 RAM. Printer is HP PSC 1210v.

This printer worked fine until recently when it simply quit printing. I have opened it in Control Panel and gave it a print command. The print job appears in the queue and disappears within one- or two seconds; but, no printing takes place nor error messages.

I have checked its port and found it set for LPT1, which is incorrect. I reset its port to USB001 with no change in result. I also tried a different driver which HP says is universal and works with all HP DeskJets, the driver for the HP DeskJet 990c.

Still, no change.

Uhg. So hello folks. So I was using my laptop this morning and ran into an issue - it bluescreen'd and immediatly shut down. Trying to boot it up yeilded what I came to know as one of the most annoying errors I have experianced in my entire life - error 2100, proclaiming that there is a read error in my drive.  Now, this is something I have been working on trying to fix for the last 4 hours or so with little success. Unlike other posters, I have mounted the same drive on another PC and the files were all there and it mounted without a hitch. Now, I have yet to attempt to boot from it, but at least I know the drive is not the problem. So I have cleaned the contacts, checked the connection from the controller to the mother board, and nothing seems to work. The only solution that I have yet to try is to update the firmware, but there is a very obvious problem with that - the only non-onboard way to do that is by disc - which sucks, because the Thinkpad Yoga 12 does not have a disc drive. I really do need this laptop to work as soon as possible, and it is upsetting to me that a laptop that is only around a year old is already starting to fail.  If anyone has any insight to offer, I would be most grateful.

Hi, Since a couple of months I have had an issue with my pavilion laptop. When I start the laptop I get once in a while an Internal Error 601 which states I have to replace my battery. When windows has started, windows shows an issue with   the accu and shows error messages like : ''Plugged in, not charging'' and a batterypercentage of 0%. Actually I can work with the laptop for hours, the only problem is when my laptop shuts down because Windows thinks the battery is empty. When I plug in the adapter, reboot the system and unplug the adapter the battery continues to work (but still shows the errors).Sometimes I don't get the internal error at all and windows shows perfectly the remaining power left within the battery, but when connecting the adapter or when the accu is fully charged, the computer shuts down and when rebooting the internal error comes again.  I did run the HP System Diagnostics Battery Test twice (once while showing the internal error and once while everything works fine), the first time it shows I have to replace the battery, the second time it states: ''The battery is working fine'' and shows a capacity of 80%.  I really don't know how to fix this issue, replacing the battery is quite expensive and I don't know if the battery is really damaged. It just charges and delivers power to my computer and except for the shutdowns and errors it seems to work perfectly. Are there any solutions to this, or is replacing the battery th... Read more

A:DLL error messages when trying to install new printer software & Kodak camera softwre

The error 1335 can occur if the CD is dirty (fingerprints or scratches) or sometimes can be caused by antivirus software conflicting with the operation of installing (disable AV software while installing).

I feel for you losing all that precious info, but you need to remember though that hard disks fail quite often, and you could lose everything at any time. You need to treat the hard drive as temporary storage only, making sure all precious data is stored on at least one medium outside the PC.

My MS Word keeps not being able to "see" the printer (HP Photosmart C5280). The program actually hangs up simply when trying to Open many documents.
The actual error message is as follows:
"The printer has not yet responded, but the Microsoft Office program may be able to proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the printer?"
Whether Yes or No is clicked, the program just hangs up and needs to be killed through the task manager.

All other applications (email, excel, etc) print just fine. It is JUST Microsoft Word that is causing this problem.
I thought I'd try using the Add/Remove Programs method to Repair the install...however, I can't find my MS Office 2003 Professional cd. I actually didn't even think I had the Pro version (as I have located a Office 2003 Student/Teacher Edition cd) so therein lies my problem.
I believe I just need to find someplace that I can download the PRO11N.MSI file that the repair thing is looking for. Only problem is that I can't find it anywhere.
If anyone knows of where I can get it, let me know. If anyone knows what the problem might be or how to diagnose it without the cd, let me know.

I've been doing some online gaming (world of warcraft), and I kept getting these Error#131 issues. This would cause the game files to become corrupted and then I would have to repair, or reinstall. The WoW tech site says that chronic error #131 messages are either a Hard drive, Ram, or Motherboard issue.

Running the Windows Vista memory diagnostic tool has turned up some odd results, the initial test with a 1gb stick in slot #1 and a 1gb stick in slot #2 came back with errors. I then removed the ram from slot 2 and ran the test on slot 1 with 1 stick of ram.... no errors. I did the same with the other stick in slot 1.....no errors. this lead me to believe that it was slot#2 giving me the issue so I moved the ram from slot 2 to slot 3, thus having 1gb of ram in slot 1 and 1gb of ram in slot 3. After a little while......error#131 appeared.

So I then tested both sticks in slots 1 and 3 together and came back with ram errors, I then tested both sticks in slot #1, and then again in slot #2 and both tests came back fine. Any ideas on what this issue could be? I know both sticks are the same brand, speed, totally identical.

My HP assist kept bugging me to install something called Broadcom for bluetooth. I generally ignored it. Yesterday I decided to go ahead and let it do it. However, it seemed to be taking a really long time to download and install so I put the computer to sleep. Today when I "woke" up the computer, it eventually gave me this error message: kernal_security_check_failure and rebooted. Then it did a disk scan and "fix." It has rebooted twice now, each with a different error message (didn't have chance to write them all down). It managed to recover but said I had to reconfigure my OneDrive. Done. I'm in MS Word, writing away and it stops, gives me error message. Now HP Assist will not work at all, just sits and spins and apparently NONE of my microsoft programs work at all anymore. Won't open them. WTH. Please advise.

A:HP Assist not working constant error messages

I'd like to add to this message that aside from the HP assist (which informs me that it is not working but when it has a solution it'll helpfully inform me) that the computer seems to be okay. No new error messages. Aside from microsoft office not working, but I can uninstall and reinsstall that. So, should I just uninstall HP assist and reinstall it?

I use msn.com as my home page and if I click on a link to read a story it either opens a completely new page with the same messages mentioned above or it will appear that the linked page has opened correctly in a new tab but then I hear someone talking and find that there are multiple error pages all offering PC help etc. behind the page I am on. I'm also getting many messages to update Java as well as Flash still but the messages look nothing like genuine Java notifications.
The Flash player thingy the other night installed some programs that I was able to remove and there have been fewer issues than when this first happened.
I've run Malwarebytes (it didn't find much), Windows Defender, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool - both found nothing in full scans. I had also installed Systemcare Universal 8 but it caused issues with all the others so I deleted it. It found thousands (literally) of issues the first couple of times it ran but then it kept finding what... Read more

Hi, my computer keeps coming up with error messages about certain files not being a valid windows image when i start it up. a few examples are Amsample.dll and Amoures.dll. These are all in my system 32 file. Also certain things on my computer aren't working such as add/remove programs in the control panel and disk defragmentor. I dont know if this is related but the only program i can open in office is word and that sometimes shuts down for no reason.

I have AVG anti virus and anti spyware and have run full system scans with both.

Any ideas?

A:Error Messages On Startup And Add/remove Programs Not Working

First of all, could I ask which operating system you are using and under what service pack?

This looks like your system files have been altered in someway. Let's run the file checker:

Click Start>Run>type without the qoutes "sfc /scannow >hit OK.

A window should appear with the title "Windows File Protection". It will say "Please wait while Windows verifies that all protected Windows files are intact and in their original versions." Leave your computer alone while the check is happening.

If there are any problems that occur during the scanning process, please post back with the error message.

I just recently installed a fresh copy of windows on my recently installed SSD. I have an old HDD in this machine where my sound worked fine on that install of windows. Before in playback I had a "headset" and "speakers." I think those come with Realtek HD audio. I've installed the drivers for my motherboard and when it restarts it says install complete.
However I get this error message when trying to install HD Realtek Audio "realtek hd audio driver error code:-5006:0x8000ffff" If I go to my sound in device manager it says the drivers are up to date? Also if I go into the install on my mobo and just install the audio it doesn't work either and gives me this error code http://i.gyazo.com/1ad72e93b7294d06e8ac36d8211744cd.png
I know it's not my port because it worked earlier today on my other drive
I read one of the fixes was to go to C>program files>common files>installshield and then rename the install shield folder name to ''installshield1'' but I'm not seeing installshield there.
I've made sure onboard sound is enable in BIOS. Pretty stuck

A:Sound isn't working on fresh install of Win 7-several error messages

Have you tried going to Device Manager and uninstalling the sound device there and restarting the PC?
That would be your first step. Be sure to delete the drivers if that is an option.

If there is more than one device under Sound I would uninstall them all, then reinstall the motherboard sound driver first.

Whenever I log in to my computer I receive several error messages about run.dll:
Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\xccdf16_0901319
Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\guhiziho.dll
Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuhuduta.dll
Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\nevigapi.dll

Furthermore my Mcafee Security Center tells me that my computer is protected and when I click the fix button it says one or more problems can not be fixed. And despite the fact that I use firefox I get Internet Explorer pop-ups while on the web.

I have run Super Anti-Spyware complete scan multiple times and each time it has deleted plenty of files but never the ones causing these problems.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:Several error loading Run.dll messages pop up upon log in, mcafee security center not working

Hello, first I will be moving this to the AM I Infected from the XP forum as you still have malware.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click HERE if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns. Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.Click the Empty... When I print to my Brother HL-1440 from Excell 2007 it acts like it is sending to the printer. Everything on the screen performs normal, but nothing prints. I can print fine from Word and Powerpoint. If I send the same file to another PC running XP and connect the printer to it, the file prints fine. It appears to have something to do with my Vista PC.

I recently purchased a used C2525E Kyocera color MFP to use as my sole printer for a home business network. I am having printer issues. We have a dell laptop and desktop PC running Windows Vista and they print just fine to the new Printer/Copier. The issue is that my Toshiba laptop -64 bit (running Windows 7) thinks the printer is offline (on the network). When running diagnostics, it says the printer is turned off. Now when I hook up a USB cable to it, the printing works as it should.

Unfortunately, this is not the solution to my problem. I need to be able to "Scan to PC" images from the scanner. I don't think I can do this through a USB connection.

I have not contacted Kyocera or Microsoft about this as of yet. One will just push the blame on the other (I have been down that road before with different manufacturers ). I am not a computer guru by any stretch and am an absolute novice at networking.

I haved tried:
dropping firewalls
changing network ports on the router
changing network cables (Actually found a bad one)
printing through something other than Microsoft Office apps
removing and reinstalling drivers (many times)
All computers show up on the network, so the router is identifying the Toshiba
Confirmed I am printing through the TCP/IP
Confirmed the copier setup with the network IP address. (it works on the Vista computers..... grasping)

Is there a way to "ping" the printer through the Toshiba? Remember... novice... Unfortunately I know, ... Read more

I'm an intern at a non-profit for the summer and was given my own little office. The small problem I have is with trying to print webpages, specifically the format that a page would be when you try to print off google maps...
When printing in other programs such as office I can select which printer. (There are 5 network printers, 2 that print double sided, 2 that are desktop units in other people's cubes, and 1 that is the fax machine). However when printing off a webpage I am only given two options, "MS Office Document Image Writer" and "Microsoft XPS Document Writer".
How can I make any of the other printers availible/show up when I'm trying to print a webpage? The tech guy is covering about 4 other jobs and told me I'm free to fiddle/add/edit system stuff on my machine. I tend to be pretty good about most things but am not experienced with networking.
Any help would be appreciated, let me know if any clarification is necessary.
I'm running Windows XP all current updates have been installed.

I have a hp computer connected to a wireless linsky router and printer server. The computer starts printing for a while then it stops. When I look in my print jobs it shows the info is waiting to be printed and sometimes it says printer paused. The only way I can get it to print the jobs listed is to restart my computer and it automatically prints all the jobs. Also, if I go in to cancel the jobs it will not print anything until I restart.

A:Network printer stops printing/ or says printer pause

How are you connected? By what sort of network and what is the device in the printer to which you plug the network card.
This is fairly common in our area with those using Belkin Wireless.
But we find that most clients are not properly connecting everything in the network... using the Microsoft and HP network troubleshooting usually cures the problem.

Hi everyone

I have Office 2008 for Mac.

I'm trying to print a two page document, the print preview is fine but when the document comes out of the printer, the text/info from the first page has been duplicated into the layout of the second page with the text that should be there totally gone. This means I only ever get 1 usable page and none of the vital second page information.

I've swapped printers, uninstalled and reinstalled all my software, done my office updates, restarted my computer, even tried a duplicate word document and am still not having any luck. My printer company is adamant its a Word problem.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

I recently was upgraded on my company computer to Outlook 2003 (actually Office 2003) in conjunction with a Windows XP Professional upgrade. Previously I used Office 2000 with Windows 2000. My problem - after sending an EMail message with attachments, I would print the EMail message to show the time stamp and the attachments (a small graphic). Now, when I do the same in Outlook 2003, it prints the message with the time stamp, but there is no proof that I have attached anything. I am required to print these EMails for paper storage (my entire group works independently and if I croak, no one will get my EMail records and they are not backed up on any kind of server since I have over 2.5 Gig of Emails in multiple .pst files) and proof that I did something. How do I get my printouts to show that the attachments were sent?

A:Printing Outlook 2003 messages

Hi jh2704

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

That was possibly an add-in that Outlook 2000 was using, do you have access to another Outlook 2000 to check what add-ins are installed?
If so, maybe it could be copied to your harddrive.

Otherwise, all I have found are add-ins that are not free:

Hopefully, something above will serve your purpose.

After months of no problems with the left margin when I printed email messages (using Windows 98SE and IE5), somehow the left margin reduced to half what it was. This happened once before, and I figured out how to adjust it (which was real easy) but I failed to write down how to find the screen and now I can't find it again. This setting is printer independent. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

Hi Barzie
Welcome to TSG

Outlook Express shares its printer settings with Internet Explorer, File>Page Setup, set your margins there.
