Windows 7 professional 64 Bit NO DRIVERS AT ALL!

Q: Windows 7 professional 64 Bit NO DRIVERS AT ALL!

Hi,

I just installed windows 7 professional 64 bit on my new hard drive of my ThinkPad W520. This is what it turned into:

http://s8.postimg.org/eu2roi0md/IMG_0382.jpg

http://s8.postimg.org/irq1dwnfp/IMG_0383.jpg

http://s8.postimg.org/4zg7w0m1x/IMG_0384.jpg

How did it automatically turn into a Lenovo Windows thing? I used a disc I bought from the local market.

My PC doesn't seem to have any connection to the internet. Do I have to install all the drivers manually now? :O I expected windows to be able to use my wifi card at least for now.

P.S. Plugging in a USB stick is doing nothing. I have tested the stick with other computers. How am I supposed to install the drivers this way! The CD/DVD drive seems to be working though.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Those drivers do not appear to be on the HP website for Windows XP.

Locate the problem devices in the Device Manager, right click on them and select Properties, then click on the Details tab, then on Hardware ID in the dropdown box. It should be in this format:

PCI\VEN_4444&DEV_0016&SUBSYS_40090070&REV_01

icemoney,
Most of the programs are written in such a way that they are system specific. Even the Norton Antivirus and other such programs are written seperately for Win 9X ver and Win NT based OSes. So try to search for any info at the games's sites you want to play and see if they provide any help.

Hope this helps...

Hi,

Rather than answer all those questions , please use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
which will inform you if upgrade is possible and any issues that may arise upgrading:

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows

Here are the minimum system requirements also for Win 7:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/products/system-requirements

Program compatibility guide:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/help/compatibility

Cheers and Good luck.

Then once you have installed Windows 7, if you experience any issues then
we will be able to help.

I wouldnt worry too much about the drivers, Win 7 should take care of the majority
of them and allow installation, you may just need a few 3rd party drivers after install.

Due to a specific piece of software I'm trying to setup Windows XP on an EliteBook 2560p with AHCI drivers for the SATA controller.  Where can I get these drivers, and what's the best way to install them?  I'm guessing since the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive I'll need to slipstream them into my XP CD?  What is the specific chipset of the driver? - from what I've seen on Intel's page there's a bunch of different options; ICH10d, ICH10R, ICH7M, etc, etc. Thanks in advance.

A:AHCI drivers for Windows XP professional on Elitebook 2560p

Tsk, tsk.  You should have gotten the name of the SATA ACHI controller first.   That is the reason one should always have a USB FDD in their tool kit. OK. I'm going to take an educated guess, and say you have the Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller. Now that you already have XP installed, first install the chipset driver and reboot. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5071201&prodNameId=5071203&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-96363-1 Then download the second file listed, and extract these drivers to a folder you put somewhere on your C:\ drive so you can browse to it later. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20216&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP%20Professional*&DownloadType= Follow this procedure to install the ACHI driver in XP: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon, click Manage, select Device Manager2. Click the + symbol beside IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers , this would show the devices under this category.3. You will find the Intel SATA ACHI storage controller listed.4. Right-click on the Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller - 1C01listed, and click Update Driver .5. So I have an old laptop running Win7 professional x64 SP1. I downloaded X17-59186.iso and made sure the MD5 and SHA-1 checksums matched which they do.

Properly formatted my USB drive etc. When I boot from USB and choose `install now` however I get the load driver window error:

Also if I try and choose "repair your computer" (at the previous step, rather than trying to install windows) I get an error message saying "This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows."

This makes it sound like I have the wrong ISO even though in system information it is definitely running win7 Pro x64.

What is most confusing is that if I use this same bootable USB on my other laptop (running win7 home x64) it works fine, neither of these errors occur.

Also I read something about trying USB2.0/3.0 ports, neither will work.

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks!

If you do the upgrade and not formatt it will keep your drivers but if you formatt then you'll need to re-install your drivers but Windows XP have many drivers already and you might not need to install any drivers.

Good evening:

Those of you that might tried to change your S.O. to Windows 7 may had a problme like this.

I use a laptop from ASUS M51V series, looks like Asus already has available drivers for windows 7, i downloaded them, installed them all still problems happened, two devices are not working at all, one is my fingerprint knowlegment system and teh other is my webcam, windows 7 finds these devices, fingerprint is instaled but i'm not using it and i can't use asus administrator logon aplication as well to use it for now, maybe because the webcam is not installed, windows finds the webcam as an unknowned device, it gives the signed address of the device with the identification PID address that should be in the *.inf instalation file of the driver and it is there but. It simple doesn't install it gives me an error with the device name nothing more, i verified this, one thing's for shure the problem is not from ASUS and it is not from CHICONY ELETRONICS the problem is on windows 7 professional, maybe not compatible with this driver or else i don't know if it works on the other versions of the S.O. but this is the only genuine one that i can use for now so i'd like to have this working, is there someone the might have a litle notion of how to solve this problem????

A:I need help with chicony drivers on professional 7

Actually, it will be if this is a Drivers problem or Compatibility issue.
They will need to fix their software to work with 7.

However,, it could possibly be the OS is corrupted in someway, or you need to install using the Right Click Run as Admin option when installing.

I have just purchased a new PC. Details are HPDC7900 CMT Core 2 Quad, Q9400 4GB 500 GB Supermulti. Have had downgraded from Vista Business to XP Pro because Adobe Premiere was working fine on XP Home Version.

Now Adobe Premiere 6.0 is not working properly and folks tell me that it is because I need to download some compatible drivers for the new technology. Have never done this before! How do I find out which drivers, are they free and what is the source please ? All help will be much appreciated since I have three wedding videos urgently to complete. Many thanks

A:Drivers re Adobe Premier 6.0 / Pinnacle DV500DVD using XP Professional

Drivers aren't required for software. Drivers allow the OS to communicate and control hardware.

All you should need to do is install Premier and ensure you have the latest patches or upgrades installed.

Aside from that, I can't speculate as you haven't stated what isn't working or what error(s) you are getting from Premier. As Premier is a video app, you may need codecs for some video types, but I thought Premier had it's own.

Hi guys this is my first post of sevenforums ever, and i am rather excited I am doing a downgrade from Windows 7 Professional OS to Windows XP SP2. The machine i am doing the downgrade is an HP 500B MT, I am using the HP Restore Plus DVD that came with the machine as well as the Operating System CD. Please help

A:Downgrade from Windows 7 Professional to Windows XP Professional SP2

Hello teekash and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please forgive these questions - I mean no disrespect. Why are you downgrading to XP? Did you know that Windows 7 Pro has an XP Mode? Did the HP 500B MT originally come with Windows 7 or XP? If it came with 7 you may have issues trying to find XP drivers. Did you know that XP is now Microsoft's biggest security headache?

Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup

Windows XP Security Headache

As to why things are taking so long, one more question. Does the HP Restore Plus DVD have Windows 7 on it or XP? If it has Windows 7, why not do a clean install of XP using an XP installation disk? It will format the hard drive (erase everything) during the install process. But you may still have driver issues if the HP originally came wiht Windows 7.

Hello!I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition with Windows 8 as it's default operating system. Since I don't like it that much, I plan to format the hard drive (by going into computer-> Right click on C: -> Format) and then to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on it.After the clean installation procedure, I was wondering if I could simply insert the Dell Drivers and Utilities disc into the optical drive and intall the drivers like I would normally do.Therefore, the real question would be: Will the Windows 8 drivers provided by Dell be compatible with Windows 7?Thank you very much everyone.FatLord

I did find this one "Inspiron 15R SE 7520" If that is your model then the Dell website has Windows 7 64bit drivers and Windows 8 64 bit drivers available for download.

I would use the Windows 7 Drivers for windows 7, Just download them ahead of time and burn them to a CD or store on a flash drive so you will have them handy to use.

I would also have my Antivirus ready to install before I went on the Internet.

3rd point. Windows will prevent you from formatting the drive it is installed on. So you have to do it during the install process.

I have a Windows 7 Desktop mainly used as a server to store files and I have a Windows 7 Laptop used to mainly access and store files to the desktop. I do not use homegroups because I find that workgroups work better for what I am doing. I have researched hours and hours on forums and googling troubleshooting tips but I can not find one thing that will fix my problem. So here it is....
My laptop can see, view and access my desktop no problem. It shows up on the network and also sees the media devices on it. I can ping and view and alsp remote to desktop. So this is working as expected.
My desktop however cannot see my laptop on the network. I can ping and view laptop by ip address though. I can also see the laptop as a media device. I just cannot see the laptop as a computer on the network.
I have renamed workgroup, reconfigured windows firewall, disabled windows firewall, and pretty much done everything basic and also some minor registry changed but converted back becuase problem did not fix.
I appreciate any help thanks.

You should be OK with an upgrade, just make sure your computer is clean before doing it. Dump the trash, do a disk cleanup, defrag the HD etc.

I am a college student enrolled in A+ PC Repair, for my A+ PC Technicians certificate, I recently downgraded my OS from Windows Media Edition to Windows XP Professional. I currently own a Gateway. As soon as I was able to get into the desktop, the computer had no recollection of any drivers, possibly because from scratch they were all outdated which meant that I needed a flash drive and another computer to download all the drivers. While I did that, the computer suddenly refused to read any usb ports, it read once, I used a Sony Flash USB Drive, and it had something like Virtual Compress, which I clicked just to see what it was, it seems like it didn't do anything however. Anyways after a few weeks of trying to figure out how to get it online, I was looking over the internet and doing various modifications to it. I eventually took the entire computer apart and put it back together ,which seemed to fix the speed issues and even allowed some drivers to be reread. However after I fixed the BIOS settings, to their default settings, and tried to get into the OS I started getting this Blue Screen error stating IO System Verification Error in NCIS.SYS (WDM Driver 24b) (NTFS.SYS+6a3fc at BAF1B3FC) and I cannot get into the login screen. However when I run the computer in Safe Mode, the computer runs perfectly, even with Safe Mode Networking. Any suggestions?

A:Downgraded from Windows Media Edition to Windows XP Professional...ERRORS!

First things first, how did you downgrade? What steps did you follow?

Next what "modifications" have you done?

As for safe mode, it would load fine as none of the drivers and non-essential files are loaded, so there are no conflicts etc.

I have strange problem, may be some one can guide me on to this. I have a P2, 400 MHz old machine running windows xp service pack2. It performed well according to its capacity till now. Now something strange is happening, once suddenly when i started windows it showed to have loaded only the basic hardware and software components. Copy option was available but paste option was in the gray. Net connection was visible only on the shortcut and that too did not work, and properties showed its target area to be in the grey shades. No sound was audible with any media player but system device manager showed every thing to be working fine. Tried to create new internet connection but the connect internet manually option appeared in the grey shade and not available. Could not understand any reason. Ran antivirus AVG and disk scan both showed every thing to be perfectly fine. Tried to repair windows with installer but after rebooting and setup showed fatal error again and again, frustrated reinstalled whole windows again and it all started perfectly but again after normal turn off and restarting windows same problem again appeared. Again reformated and reinstalled windows and everything started well but again at restart same problem. I have formated and reinstalled windows xp many a times but i just i can't understand the problem. I am an old computer user from 80286 family and DOS 4 and have good know how and usually almost always handle problems by myself but this time i am really... Read more

I recently purchased a Dell and the only way the hardware options I wanted would come is if the OS was Windows 7 Pro with an included Windows 10 Pro License.  So I received the computer and I would like to upgrade it from the start.  However, I can't seem to find instructions on how to do this.
I have looked at the How to Set Up your new Dell Computer on the Knowledgebase, but it does not mention my situation.
I have looked at the Windows 10 Upgrade Walkthrough on the Knowledgebase. But it does not mention my situation.
I have tried the WIndows 10 Downgrade System on the Knowledgebase, but again it does not mention my situation.

The computer came with a purple CD that sys to ensure that the BIOS setting is set to UEFI mode prior to installing Windows 10.  But if I adjust this setting and run the CD there is no mention about upgrading to Windows 10 in the options available.
The Windows 10 Upgrade walkthrough talks about updating the Windows 7 install with Service Pack 1, but none of the info that came with the PC shows an upgrade code which I would probably need since the Microsoft free upgrade time period has expired.
So how to I upgrade this new computer to windows 10?  Just wondering what info I am missing.  I assumed this would be simple.  I shouldn't have to reinstall all my preinstalled software and drivers on a brand new computer on day one.
Thanks,

A:Windows 7 Professional English 64bit (Includes Windows 10 Pro License)

You have a MSDM tab embedded in your UEFI BIOS which contains your Windows 10 Pro OEM Product Key. Windows 10 RS1 Installation Media will automatically input this Product Key during Installation and Windows will automatically activate when you are online. See here for more details:

Hi all,

I've got lots of photos on my Vista machine & would like to know if they'd still be there after upgrading. I've previously upgraded a Win7 machine using the auto upgrade feature which was impressive but I read that it won't work for Win8. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for?

Since the end of March a window has popped up saying that windows is not genuine. I have had Windows 7 Home Professional x64 since I bought this computer, so it is genuine. I have run Malwarebytes Super Anti Spyware, and I have AVAST. Windows also will not update no matter what I do. System restores will not work either. I have tried to install several Window updates that are supposed to fix these issues but they will not install. The SURT did run and install. When I try with other programs it says error: 800706F7
